Transferring music, video & pics from ipod to computer

I have been looking at ways to transfer all the stuff on my ipod to my new computer. I have actually done this before, but I totally forgot how exactly. Also, at that time, I had no pictures on my ipod and I had alot less music and videos. All of the applications that I have been looking at seem to be made for older versions of iTunes as most of them don't say anything about transferring videos or pictures. The one free one that seems ok is iPodRip or the ImTOO computer transfer. I just want to know if I decide to use either one of those or to manually take all of my songs, videos etc off my ipod, would I be able to take everything off of my ipod? Basically, would I be able to restore everything?

  • Transferring music and movies from ipod to new computer

ive tried free programs that end having to be paid for which i cant do and i cant seem to figure out how to get unpurchased music and movies off my ipod onto a new computer.keep in mind i dont have my old hard drive with my music on it hooked up.can anybody help pleaseeeee?

For all non purchased content (your own CDs etc) try this method which works on some Windows PCs.
Enable your iPod for disk use.
    See: iPod Disk Use.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Another free program is Pod Player.
    SharePod is also freeware.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

  • NOT ABLE TO IMPORT MUSIC AND VIDEO FILES FROM IPOD TO COMPUTER/ITUNES LIBRARY !!!!

Hi.... I am having IPod Nano 5th Generation. I can access music and video files (that are stored in Ipod memory) in Ipod. But when I connect the ipod to computer, I am not able to access/import these music and video files through computer. Also, I am not able to see any folders like DCIM, Contacts, etc... in the memory of IPod. Can any body help me out... ?

Search it up on google.com.  There's a lot of apps that will help you do this.  Check out this one:
    http://www.imtoo.com/ipod-computer-transfer.html
You can also check out this video:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWvYo6Gcq44
I tried the import software (trial version) and it was fine but I didn't want to pay for software.  You can authorize up to 5 computers in the house to access your iTunes music and other iTunes purchases. Open iTunes, you can go under Store and select Authoize this computer.
    Good luck!

  • Just bought a new iMac....transferring music and pics from old PC...

I have a burning question. First let me begin by saying that our old PC is seriously infected with something. What? I dont know. What I do know is that is has gone from 110% speed to about 60% speed in a month. Not the reason we got an iMac but it was an excellent excuse for my wife My question is will I risk infecting my new iMac if I copy all the music and pictures (thats all I want) onto a external flash drive and simply copy that content onto my new iMac? All I want is my music and pictures, and like 20 docs. Will anything malicious on my PC (vista) piggyback over to my music and pics and onto my iMac? Thanks for the help.

So do people not answer questions around here or what? I know someone around here has an answer to this. Seriously I havent even unboxed my mac yet. I dont wanna screw it up.

  • I am having trouble transfering music and pics from my old Nokia phone to Iphone 4s

Why won't my iphone 4s recognize my old phone so that I can transfer pics and music through bluetooth? It just keeps telling me it is not paired with the device but I can't figure out how to do so. The Nokia phone recognizes the iphone just fine.

Connect you rdevice to your computer/iTunes.  Go to the Photos tab. Choose to have no photos synced over and then 'Apply' the changes.

  • Download Pics from iPod to Computer

I used the device that allows you to put your pictures onto your ipod from your camera. Now I want to put them on to my computer, how do you do that. Also how do you name the indivdual folders. Mine are labeled, Roll 1, Roll 2. Can you change that in iTunes?

  • Cannot transfer 1.57GB video file from iPod to computer

I have an iPod touch 4th gen 8GB, and am unable to transfer a video file off it. The video file was taken as a movie using the iPod's camera. I've successfully copied all the other photos and videos, but this one won't copy.
What happens is this: I drag and drop the file to copy it. It appears to start working, but the copy window 'hangs' for a minute or two, then stops as if the copy had been completed. However, the destination file is zero bytes in size. I tried 'rebooting' the iPod, and also deleting all other photos and videos off the camera roll, but things still don't work.
I'm using a PC with Windows XP, and iTunes 10.5. iPod has iOS 5.0.1 (updated in the last couple of days). iPod currently has 3.6GB available. Destination folder on the PC has loads of space.
The troublesome file is the biggest video file on the iPod, 1.57GB. The next biggest file is 457 MB (which copied OK). Perhaps I'm running into some limit on the iPod file's size?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks-Ralph

    - I will try a Mac (it will have OSX 10.5.something)
    - I will also find a Windows 7 or Vista PC if possible.
    - I will also try booting the XP PC into safe mode
I also tried disabling the Digital Camera Notifications as per http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1500 , in case that somehow was interfering with the copying process. It didn't make any difference.
I will post followups to all the above.
Thanks for your replies so far.

  • Upload from ipod to computer

Does anybody know how to upload music and pics from ipod w/ colour screen to a computer.
I haven't been able to master this
    Your help is greatly appreciated

You can't sync or drag your music back directly from an iPod to iTunes, the transfer of music is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs but not playlists back to iTunes on Windows posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. Have a look at the web pages and documentation for these, they are generally quite straightforward.
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    PodPlayer Windows Only
    iGadget Windows Only
To retrieve photos from an iPod try:
    iPodPhotoCopy
    CopyPodPhoto

  • Transfering music from iPod to computer (Itunes)

    Hi,
My computer have crashed. I have now replaced the broken harddisc and installed SW. I only have my music in my iPod now. How do I trigger a transfer from my iPod to iTunes, it doesn't happen by it self when the iPod is connected and listed in iTunes?
I currently got music and filmes in the iPod. And I do not want to loose any of it, just get it copied over to iTunes.

  • Moving Music FROM iPod to Computer...

My computer crashed, dammit. Fortunately, had my music backed up on my iPod.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like iTunes wants to allow me move it onto my new computer. Is this some crazy iTunes security feature, or am I doing something wrong?? Any workarounds??? Aargh!!!!
    Help, please?

    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
    Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods may depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
If none of these methods work, try CopyPod which also supports the transfer of videos from iPod to computer.
