Have an iPod Photo with click wheel with lots of music on it. It's starting to act up, is on it's second battery and I would like to transfer all the music to a new iPod before it stops working. It was synched to an iMac that I no longer have, so I have to go through my laptop which is not synched to anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Klaus

There is a software that you can get that transfers all of your songs off the iPad onto your computure it's called senuti it's good but you have to pay for it no much just a couple of dollars i think this would help you

Transferring music from IPod Classic to new IPod Touch ?

I recently purchased an IPod Touch to replace my old IPod Classic. When I try to sync the new touch with my ITunes, however, I get the message about ITunes being unable to load data class information from Sync Services. I've tried several suggestions to get around that, but to no avail. Even when I try to download music from the cloud, it goes away after I play it. How can I get the music that I had on my old IPod classic onto my new IPod Touch ? Thanks.

No.
You can access your qualifying past purchases from iTunes in the Cloud without further action, from any computer running iTunes or iOS device, e.g. your iPad.
Adding any other media that is currently only on the iPod classic would require that you recover that to an iTunes library and then use that to transfer it to your device. You could also decide to subscribe to iTunes match so that all of your music would be available on demand from the iPad, but the music has to be placed in an iTunes library and "matched" first.
To recover the data on the iPod see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. You'll need access to a computer to do this.

Transferring music from ipod classic to new computer

Hi, can anyone help?
My last computer became corrupted and unusable and I am left only with my ipod of music, which I would like to transfer to a new computer, however, it will not synch with the new one as it is says my ipod is already synched with another computer (my old one!). I have contacted apple and they have sent me information, but you need to make adjustments on the old computer (which no longer exists)to transfer the files. Is there a way of transferring the music from the ipod to my new computer, without using my old computer?

OK, I had to restore my laptop to factory-settings, and so lost all my music in iTunes. Still have my music on my iPod, but obviously can't syncronise it as I'd lose all the music on there.
I have tried a couple of software packages (ipod2computer & Tune Tools), but neither of them seem to work (one keeps asking me to put in my credit card details again and the other just hangs or saying it hs updating data, but after a few hours nothing happens). Really looking for help or recommendations in transfering music files from my ipod or software that can enable this.

For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.

Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.

If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

How do I restore playlist folders from iPod classic to iTunes? The library is intact, but the playlists are not and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch!

After reformatting my HD and reimporting all songs back into iTunes succesfully, the playlist folders are gone and I don't want to rebuild them from scratch. How do I restore playlists from iPod classic to iTunes 11.1.3 without resorting to 3rd party options?

I actually tried that in "my computer" by renaming the drive and then got this:

then after reading your reply realized I should try renaming it in "disk management" and hey! it worked.
Thanks a lot for the advice.
Now I don't understand why my back-up drive isn't automatically adding the files when I import into the Ex-HD but I'll figuree it out.

my laptop pouched and all my songs are on there question is i got new ipod touch how do i get my old songs that are on my ipod classic to my desktop so i can put same songs from ipod classic to the ipod touch?

I have 1 library and have 3 ipods including a touch. I create playlists for the touch and only sync those since the capacity of the touch is smaller than the classic. At sync time itunes will give you the option to choose which playlist to sync to the touch.

Enable your iPod for disk use.

Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
