Transferring old email accounts on iPhone 3G to new iPhone 4

How do I transfer all my email accounts (10+) on my old iPhone 3G to my new iPhone 4 without having to add all the account information again?

Thanks Julian. Sorry for the stupid question as I always thought it would be better to do synchronisation over the air, but I now read indeed it's just the account information iTunes syncs. Best, Fernando

  • How do I delete an old email account from my system

I was asked to update a password to our company email account and I updated.  Then I had to update the password on my iphone.  Now my iphone won't send any emails out because it is asking for an update to an email account that was never associated with this iphone (the email account was from a former employer).  It must have been restored or synced to my iphone or tied to iTunes through syncing.  I deleted the old employer phone from itunes when I left the job and purchased a new iphone.
But now my new iphone is not sending emails because it says that the old email account does not recognize the new password.  And there is no old email account to delete.  I've looked in my itunes acccount to try to delete there as well and can find nothing to delete from the old account.

Very interesting, thank you for the update.
I would next reset the network settings on the phone, in case there is some info there that is stuck and causing the issue:
Reset network settings by tapping Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. Note: This will reset all network settings including:
previously connected Wi-Fi networks and passwords
    recently used Bluetooth accessories
    VPN and APN settings
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
I would also check these locations to see if the account is signed in anywhere else as an Apple ID in your Settings:
    iCloud
    iTunes & App Stores
    Messages
    FaceTime
    Game Center
If not I would as a last resort, backup your iPhone with this article:
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1766
And restore it from your backup with this article and test the issue:
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1414
If the issue persists when restored, then restore it as a new device and test the issue to help isolate the data in the backup.

  • My email recently changed and so I updated my Apple ID to reflect my new email, but my Icloud account still shows the old email as the username on both my Iphone and Ipad and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change or delete it.

My email recently changed and so I updated my Apple ID to reflect my new email, but my Icloud account still shows the old email as the username on both my Iphone and Ipad and for the life of me I can't figure out how to change or delete it.  My password doesn't work with the old email address.  When I look for my old email address in the Apple ID support area it says that the ID doesn't exist.  Help!!!

You have to go to Settings>iCloud and tap Delete Account, then sign back in with your updated credentials.  This deletes the account and your synced data from your device, but not from iCloud.  Provided you are signing back into the same account and not changing to a different account, your data will be synced back to your device when you sign back in.

    Hi vegasbob,
You need to do the following:
    1.     Go to Manage Your Apple ID https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/
    2.     Sign on with your current Apple ID and password
    3.     Change your Apple ID to the old email address, but do not verify it - Save Changes
    4.     Go to Setting>iCloud on your iPad, and scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Delete Account
    5.     It will ask you for your password to turn off Find My iPhone, type in your current password
    6.     Delete iCloud account
    7.     Go back to Manage Your Apple ID and sign in with the changed ID and current password
    8.     Change your Apple ID back to your current ID - Save Changes
    9.     Go back to Settings>iCloud and sign on with your current Apple ID
    You should be all set.

    Hello tcnolen1,
It sounds like you are trying to change the Apple ID logged into the iTunes & App Stores on your iPhone.  Use these steps:
    Changing your Apple ID account
Tap Settings > iTunes & App Stores, then tap the Apple ID signed in.
Sign out of the current Apple ID account and then sign in with another account or create a new Apple ID.

  • What if you do not have access to an old email account to fix iCloud problems?

So I seem to be having the same problem as a lot of other people - I have updated my apple ID however my iCloud has not followed. When I go to change it, the old email is grayed out. I have clicked delete account, and it needs my password to my old ID to turn off 'Find my Phone'. I cannot change my current account to be linked up to my old email as it is an email I no longer have access too. What can I do? Any help would be greatly appreicated as everytime I go into my emails I am getting bombarded with iCloud account information popups.
    Imdizz.

You shouldn't need access to your old email account to fix this.  Go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change (don't verify the old address).  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

I just bought the 5s. It's showing the correct applie ID but the iCloud ID is showing an old email account and I can't change it

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • How do I know which iTunes area to use to transfer info from my old iPhone to my new iPhone? There are too many iTune areas specific for music or movies, etc. none specified for iPhone transfers.

Which iTunes area do I access to transfer my info from my old iPhone to my new iPhone?  Music, movies, iU?  I don't see any specific for iPhone transfers.

Thanks for your reply but maybe it would be helpful if you could elaborate a bit on that or maybe I was not clear enough in my question. What I need to do is NOT stop using icloud. But gather everything that is already stored in my old icloud account (X) and save it in my device (iphone, ipad etc) and then continue using icloud but with my new account (Y).
    In a scheme:
    "->" = "becomes"
Step 1) data from X -> independent device data, and then the X account is removed from the device while the data stays.
Step 2) account Y is added to the device.
Step 2 continued) now the device has a. "the independent device data" that was drawn from the account X and b. the litte piece of data from Y that I have already created.
Step 3) independent device data -> data in account Y (along with everything that is created from now on, and everything that has been stored there. The little piece mentioned above.) Everything should now be merged in Y. Merged in a "good" way. Not overwritten, not deleted etc. Nothing should be lost (old or new, from the device or from X or from Y).
The last step is kind of optional. If the best I can get is having data associated to Y (future and past) AND "independent device data" that is so independent to the point that it cannot be added to my Y account since icloud recognizes and stores only data that is created after the account's addition to the device, then I can deal with that.
I hope I cleared everything out.
I need my notes and pages documents from my old icloud account to become independent device data and just stick to the device. And then, if possible, be uploaded to my new icloud account.

I'm trying to change my BlackBerry ID, as I can't remember the password, I can't reset it as I no longer have access to my old email account. What can I do?

Oh. You had not said you had tried that. To enter a NEW BlackBerryID on a device existing with an old BBID, you must perform a security wipe on the device first.Switching the BlackBerry ID on the BlackBerry PlayBook or BlackBerry 10 smartphone:In order to switch the BlackBerry ID that is associated to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone or a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, a security wipe will need to be performed.Warning: Performing the security wipe will result in loss of stored data on the smartphone or tablet. Be sure to create a backup and also transfer files to a computer prior to performing the security wipe.Prior to performing a security wipe of the smartphone or tablet, transfer files to a computer so the files can then be transferred back to the smartphone or tablet after the security wipe is complete and the new BlackBerry ID is configured.If you are moving to a new device or tablet you can backup your data, complete a security wipe (to remove the BBID), sign in with the same BBID on the new device, and restore your data.If you are completing these steps due to loosing access to your BBID account you will not be able to restore any data as the same BBID account must be used to complete the restore process.See the following links for information on backing up data:KB26068 - How to transfer files to and from the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet and BlackBerry 10 smartphone.Manually synchronize music files to the BlackBerry 10 smartphone or BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.Import your contacts and calendar appointments from Microsoft Outlook. To perform the security wipe:On the BlackBerry 10 smartphone, see KB33591.On the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, see KB27188.Once the security wipe has been completed, a new BlackBerry ID can be created on the smartphone or tablet during the initial setup.

  • How can I delete an old icloud account that is under an old email account

    deleting an old icloud account

If your device is signed into an old iCloud ID that is an earlier version of the ID you want to sign in with, do the following:
If you are using iMessage and FaceTime, make sure you are signed into these services with your current ID.  If they are signed into the old ID, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with your current ID.
Then temporarily recreate the old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  (You should not have to verify the old email account so it doesn’t matter if you no longer have access to it.)  Now go to Settings>iCloud, turn off Find My iDevice and enter your current password when prompted (even though it prompts you for the password for your old ID).  Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless you are using iCloud Photo Library).  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Sign Out (or Delete Account if you are not running iOS 8) and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign back in with your current iCloud ID and password (your data will download back to your device).
