Transferring Overdrive audio books

Since the last iTunes upgrade, I have not been able to transfer an Overdrive audio book to my iPhone, not in MP3 or WMA format.
I have tried countless times.
I have petitioned my library for help (as users are not allowed to contact Overdrive for themselves). They have not been able to help me.
I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes numerous times. I have rebooted the computer. I have unplugged and rebooted the phone. I have closed and reopened Overdrive and the browser. I have deleted, returned, rechecked out, and redownloaded the book. I have tried numerous books in both MP3 and WMA formats. Overdrive assures me (via my librarian) that nothing is wrong with the book files on their end.
Oh, and I changed the registry -- at Overdrive's recommendation -- to give a longer timeout to WMA syncing. That did no good.
Generally I get, say, 3 out of 10 files to transfer. The remaining files are grayed out, and I get an error message on my phone, "1 item could not be synced. See iTunes for more information." ITunes, meanwhile, tells me the item could not be synced.
I am not new to Overdrive. I have downloaded hundreds of e-audio books and have done so for years. I am not doing anything different.
I have an iPhone 5. I am using Windows 7. My browser is Firefox. I have iTunes version 11.2.2.3.
Please help.

After I spent hours and hours and hours struggling with this, an iTunes rep finally called Overdrive for me, and Overdrive admitted to the iTunes rep that the problem is on their end and there is nothing that either you or iTunes can do to resolve this.
What DID work for me, though, is that I went back to a previous version of iTunes, here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1047
However, the previous version of iTunes won't run without you editing the -- I think -- the .itl file. Hailey at iTunes support did this for me, and I don't know how she did it. She is at this phone number: 877-388-0879; but I'm sorry, I don't remember her extension, which you need.
Also, iTunes does not recommend that you go back a version; and, of course, it's only a temporary fix. But it worked for me.

Some find the mobile device transfer confusing. To load or delete a WMA or MP3 book onto an Apple mobile device do the following.
1. For Windows versions, you must first do a security update of Windows Media Player (even though you won't be using it) using Internet Explorer at http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/indivsite .

6. To remove a book from a mobile device plug the device into the USB port and open iTunes. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of your iPod, iPhone, or iPad in the Device section of the left hand menu of iTunes so that you can see the device’s subcontents. For an MP3 book select the Music subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete. For a WMA book, select the Book subsection, right click on the book and choose Delete.

I transferred an audio book to itunes, it showed up and now has dissapeared, and I wanted to sync it to my ipod touch.

No, it will sync the ipod to the content of the MBA which presumably has nothing on it (= erasing content of iPod and replacing it with nothing).

Quick answer if you let iTunes manage your music: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Start iTunes with the option key held down and guide it to the new location of the library.

I tried to convert all songs to ACC and it says they are ACC when itunes is open, but when I go to the Itunes music folder, the all read MPeg4. I've read all the other forums that say to change the name from "a" to "b" at the end but in my files there is no a in the name...just numbers. the book i have is 1776, and here is what one of the tracks looks like. "01 1776 0101 103" If you can help me get these into audiobook section that would be great!

Do you mean an audiobook? iTunes will only download these to one computer/device at the time of purchase, but you can make your own copy and transfer it to any other computer that you control.

Why does the audio books not grouped on ipod unlike on iphone?

I had transferred my audio books on my ipod classic (which used to be on my iphone). When I was about to listen to it, the audio books are listed on the ipod per tracks not by book. Why does apple cannot make the ipod OS handle the audio books like the iphone OS?

The problem may have been in how you transfered it. You didn't go into much detail. Just be sure to follow the steps in the tutorial below. Note Paragraph 5.
Many libraries worldwide now use Overdrive Media Console, which comes in Mac an Windows versions http://www.overdrive.com/Software/omc . Some find the mobile device transfer process confusing. To load or delete a WMA or MP3 (Macs can only download MP3 books) audiobook onto an Apple mobile device see the "How to Transfer to a Portable Device" video in the guides at Step 7, then do the following.

You should be able to copy it over to your computer's iTunes via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.
Audiobooks are a one-time only download from the store, so you may want to take a backup copy of it when you've copied it over to your computer

Error 0x80004002 - when trying to transfer an audio book from OverDrive Media Console

I am getting this error message - Error 0x80004002 - when trying to transfer an audio book from OverDrive Media Console. It was working a couple of weeks ago. It keeps telling me to downloan iTune9.0.2 (or newer) but I have the most up to date version of iTunes. Also tells me the device is not connected, but it is.

The publisher of the book seems to have restricted copying of the book on to other devices. Contact the book distributor.
