Transferring photos from ipod nano to mac mini

I cannot transfer my photos from my ipod nano to my mac mini. I have connected my ipod to the mini and opened up iphoto but I don't have the option to import my photos.

An iPod nano is not a camera, so you can't do that with iPhoto.
There is a setting that relates to your question.  Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Photos tab.  There is a checkbox there, that says Include full-resolution photos.  If that setting was checked WHEN you synced the photos to your iPod, then the iPod will have a copy of photo files at full-resolution.  To retrieve them, Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab.  Open the iPod's storage as a "disk," and look for the image files in Photos folder.
If that setting was NOT already checked, then the iPod only has a low-resolution database of "thumbnails" instead of the photos; they are optimized to fit the very small screen on the nano (and save storage space).  They are not in a format that can be used directly on a computer.  There may be third-party utilities that can retrieve the images as individual files, but they would look terrible blown up to computer screen size.  The way they are converted and stored on the iPod, each image is only meant to look decent on the iPod's tiny screen.

  • Transferring photos from iPod touch to Mac Pro

I used my iPod touch as a hard-drive while on holidays (transferred pictures from my camera to the iPod). When I got back home, I wanted to transfer the pictures to my desktop but my iPod does not show up on the desktop (this option is selected through the finder). The iPod will show up in iTunes and iPhoto, though it was a third party device I used (zoomit) to transfer the pictures as they were on SD cards.
If I could see my iPod on my desktop, I could transfer them manually but I'm at a lost as to how to get it to show up.
Thanks for any help or suggestions.

If you were transferring your pictures directly to your touch, that's a new one to me. Normally when you plug your camera or SD card into your Mac, iPhoto opens and you copy your photos there. Photos are transferred via syncing with iTunes to your touch. If that is what you did, then your photos are in iPhoto waiting for you.
As others have said, your touch is not treated as a disk drive like the iPod classic is. The touch is not going to show up on your desktop, it is only going to be seen by iTunes. If you have an iPod classic, there are several ways to transfer your camera contents to the classic.

  • Cannot delete photos from iPod nano 3G

My brother, a windozer, has last week bought a iPod Nano. He was playing around a bit and loaded, he don't remember how, some photos on the Nano.
He is now desperately trying to remove these photos from his nano. I suggested him to define one folder with just one photo in it, sync with that one in iTunes, with the hope that the Nano will get this only photo and delete all others. Unfortunately this does not work.
    Any hints?

Has he tried Restoring the iPod in iTunes ???

  • Transfering photos from ipod to computer?

    Hello!
i used to sync my photos in ipod with my computer. But my computer crashed and i had to change a new computer.
Then, i realised that i can't transfer the photos that are already in my ipod to my new computer. The photos in ipod are in a file format that can't be opened (photo database).
Does that mean that my photos are stuck in the ipod forever? i can't view them with the computer and i can't sync photos with the new computer as i was warned that the old photos in my ipod will be deleted.
    Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hi, thanks for replying my question!

  • How can you transfer photos from iPod Nano to new iMac?

My friend has an ipod nano. Here's a photo, not sure what gen. it is.
He had a PC that no longer works and has no data left on it. His original iPod Photos were stored on that PC that no longer works.
He has since purchased an iMac and is running Lion OS X, all up to date.
The problem: He NO LONGER has the ORIGINAL PHOTOS, only the ones on his iPod Nano, that used to work with his PC, which no longer functions.
He would like to copy the photos stored on his iPod Nano, to his new iMac.
Using finder, he went to Device, then clicked PHOTOS and dragged the folder to his desktop. It said there was 1.43 GB of content.
However, all that was saved to the desktop was (see other photo) Photo Cache, Photo Database and Thumbs. There are no photos at all. What is he doing wrong? Thanks.

There are a number programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
TouchCopy Mac and Windows Versions (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)

  • File transfers (photos) from iPod to Powerbook

Hi all-posted this as well in iPhoto...not sure best place to have it addressed:
I recently used my iPod as a hard drive (as I needed my logic board replaced) so I transferred all my files onto it. Now that I'm transferring my files back to my Powerbook G4, I'm struggling to get all my pictures back into iPhoto. I've read thru many posts on this topic and am still struggling. I dragged my iPhoto library (from iPod) onto iPhoto window and it tranferred my pics (and then some!!). It seemed to make duplicates of all of them, some of which were of poor quality. But, my albums (about 10 of them) were not imported. Can I import my albums? Or do I have to create new ones with my pics again? Thanks in advance.
    Dino

    Dino,
I can't say for certain, but here's my somewhat-educated guess.
You successfully made a copy of your entire iPhoto library onto your iPod. All good. This copy contains your photos as well as the album contents, etc.
But when you copied everything back to your Mac by dragging that iPhoto folder from your iPod, the results were confusing. Technically, they're correct, but it's not the result you wanted. Basically, you told iPhoto to take the backup folder, find each image inside, and add it to a new iPhoto library on your computer. So your photos were added to iPhoto, but so were the thumbnail images that iPhoto generated the first time around (those are the low-quality photos you see now in iPhoto). And since the drag-and-drop step only copied your images, it makes sense that your album data did not migrate over.
What I would suggest it the following:
    - on your Mac, start by quitting iPhoto, then find your iPhoto directory and rename it (do not delete it! just rename it). Should go from "/Users/you/Pictures/iPhoto Library" to something like "iPhoto Library unused"
    - then drag a copy of the backup iPhoto folder from your iPod to your Mac through Finder (iPhoto is still not running).
    - on your Mac, name that copied folder to the same name that the original iPhoto Library was named. So it would be under "/Users/you/Pictures/iPhoto Library"
    - start up iPhoto and see what's what. If things worked, iPhoto will still know about your albums and other photo settings.
If this didn't work, I would say it's probably a better use of your time to just manually rebuild your iPhoto library (delete the junk quality images, and recreate your albums by hand).
    Hope that helps,
    Kaan

  • Transferring photos from Ipod back to Itunes

My problem is my old pc totally crashed and I lost everything. Ive since got a new one and once Itunes was loaded back on and my Ipod was connected my music has been transferred without a problem. • Can't copy photos from iPod touch to Mac

My iPhoto Library was on an external hard drive, which unfortunately my friend accidentally dropped, and it no longer works. Luckily, I have the photos synced to my iPod touch. Unfortunately, I can't get a way to import the photos onto my Mac., I've tried iPhoto, Preview, iPhone Explorer and Pod to Mac (which works, but I need to pay to copy them), but none of them are useful solutions.
Does anyone know of a free application that doesn't require me to jailbreak or buy it that I can use to get my photos from my iPod touch onto my Mac (it can be Windows as well as I have a Windows computer)?

Try this: iPhone / iPod Touch Backup Extractor
See if you can find the folder containing your photos if you extract the backup to a separate folder. The photos will be reduced in size, but that's better than nothing.

  • Saved Photos Sync - How to Sync the photos from iPod touch to Mac

How can one syncrhonize the "Saved Photos" on an iPod touch (or iPhone, for that matter) to Mac OS X?
Certainly using iTunes the specified photos on Mac OS X are saved to the iPod touch, but I don't see how to get the "photos" (snapshots of the iPod touch screen) to be copied/sync'd to Mac OS X, e.g. so that I can use these "photos" in a blog post, etc.

on a PC you would go to My Computer and the iPod would show up as an external disk for you to copy the photos from.
on a Mac i'm not sure of the exact procedure but i'd imagine it's something similar.

  • Transferring music from iPod to new Mac

The music on my iPod was purchased through my ex-husband's iTunes account. If I transfer purchases from my iPod Nano to my new computer, it asks for his account information. Is there a way to transfer the songs I purchased through his account to my computer, and my new iTunes account? Also, if not, is there any way I can keep from losing what I already have on my iPod the next time I sync it with my computer?

To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.
As noted - to play the content that has DRM you will need to authorize the Mac.
