Transferring photos from ipod photo to mac

i've transferred photos from camera to ipod using apples cammera connector. how do i now get these onto my powerbook? I've done this before, but have forgotten.

An iPod nano is not a camera, so you can't do that with iPhoto.
There is a setting that relates to your question. Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES. Over to the right, go to the Photos tab. There is a checkbox there, that says Include full-resolution photos. If that setting was checked WHEN you synced the photos to your iPod, then the iPod will have a copy of photo files at full-resolution. To retrieve them, Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab. Open the iPod's storage as a "disk," and look for the image files in Photos folder.
If that setting was NOT already checked, then the iPod only has a low-resolution database of "thumbnails" instead of the photos; they are optimized to fit the very small screen on the nano (and save storage space). They are not in a format that can be used directly on a computer. There may be third-party utilities that can retrieve the images as individual files, but they would look terrible blown up to computer screen size. The way they are converted and stored on the iPod, each image is only meant to look decent on the iPod's tiny screen.

I recently purchased a new mac after my dell computer crashed. As a result of this the only source I have for my 1000+ songs is my ipod touch. I have already gone to my preferences and set it so my ipod does not sync automatically and did the same for my sister and her new dell laptop. I was able to connect her ipod to her computer and transfer all of her purchased items with no problem but now am unsure on how to transfer the rest? Also on my own computer when I plug my ipod in, it seems that the computer is not detecting the connection as it won't let my click the 'Transfer Purchases From Ipod' button. Also my ipod does not show up on the left side on my itunes underneath the 'Devices.' Anybody know how to fix this? Thanks!

Transferring music from iPod to new Mac

The music on my iPod was purchased through my ex-husband's iTunes account. If I transfer purchases from my iPod Nano to my new computer, it asks for his account information. Is there a way to transfer the songs I purchased through his account to my computer, and my new iTunes account? Also, if not, is there any way I can keep from losing what I already have on my iPod the next time I sync it with my computer?

To prevent a sync when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - hold down the 'option' and the 'command' keys when plugging in the iPod/iPhone - key the keys down until the iPod/iPhone is listed under the Devices list in iTunes - this will prevent a sync from taking place and you will be able to change your settings.
As noted - to play the content that has DRM you will need to authorize the Mac.

Problem transferring Itunes from iPod to New Dell, iTunes and back to iPod

Hello - yesterday I uploaded my iTunes library to new Dell Inspiron Windows Vista successfully by "Transferring Purchases from iPod" back into iTunes;
I am unable to download the "New" library back to my iPod now. I am able to purchase from iTunes and see/listen via computer new iTunes songs, but not able to re-download library to iPod Nano. Any suggestions?

Since you have a Mac you can use a program called Senuti. It transfers all your material from your iPod to your computer. Download Senuti, then in the preferences, set your destination folder to the iTunes music folder. All the content on your iPod will be placed in there and then all you have to do is transfer that to your new iTunes library. Hope it works out.

There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.

My hard drive crashed and won't be able to backup all my music/songs that are not purchased from iTunes. How would I transfer all the songs from my iPod to my new hard drive (PC)? Is there any possibility?

Be very careful when connecting an iPod full of music to an empty iTunes library.There is very real risk of permanently losing all the music.
To prevent auto sync, before you connect the iPod go to the iTunes preferences and select "devices", then select "disable automatic syncing for iPhones and iPods".
An alternative method is to connect the iPod whilst holding down the 'control+shift' keys and do not let them go until your iPod appears in iTunes.
If you see a message that your iPod is associated with a different library and asks if you want to link to a new one, make sure you press "Cancel".
If you should click on "Erase and Sync" will erase all the content currently on your iPod and it will be replaced with the content of the iTunes library you just connected to.
When you've pressed cancel your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list under "devices" and allow you to change the update setting to manage the iPod content manually, and that will let you use your iPod for the time being without the risk of accidentally erasing the contents.
Then do any of the following to transfer your music from iPod back to the computer/iTunes.

Transferring photos from iPod touch to Mac Pro

I used my iPod touch as a hard-drive while on holidays (transferred pictures from my camera to the iPod). When I got back home, I wanted to transfer the pictures to my desktop but my iPod does not show up on the desktop (this option is selected through the finder). The iPod will show up in iTunes and iPhoto, though it was a third party device I used (zoomit) to transfer the pictures as they were on SD cards.
If I could see my iPod on my desktop, I could transfer them manually but I'm at a lost as to how to get it to show up.

If you were transferring your pictures directly to your touch, that's a new one to me. Normally when you plug your camera or SD card into your Mac, iPhoto opens and you copy your photos there. Photos are transferred via syncing with iTunes to your touch. If that is what you did, then your photos are in iPhoto waiting for you.
As others have said, your touch is not treated as a disk drive like the iPod classic is. The touch is not going to show up on your desktop, it is only going to be seen by iTunes. If you have an iPod classic, there are several ways to transfer your camera contents to the classic.

Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:

Saved Photos Sync - How to Sync the photos from iPod touch to Mac

How can one syncrhonize the "Saved Photos" on an iPod touch (or iPhone, for that matter) to Mac OS X?
Certainly using iTunes the specified photos on Mac OS X are saved to the iPod touch, but I don't see how to get the "photos" (snapshots of the iPod touch screen) to be copied/sync'd to Mac OS X, e.g. so that I can use these "photos" in a blog post, etc.

on a PC you would go to My Computer and the iPod would show up as an external disk for you to copy the photos from.
on a Mac i'm not sure of the exact procedure but i'd imagine it's something similar.

Mac newbie question about transferring files FROM iPod

I got an iPod 30G for xmas. I downloaded all my music from my computer to it. Then my hard drive crashed. But it doesn't seem like I can put the music back onto my new harddrive because it's some kind of "tunes" file instead of a data file. Admittedly, I don't know much about this stuff. But can someone tell me if it's possible to put the music back onto my computer from my iPod?

1). If your iPod is set to update automatically you need to take care connecting to an empty iTunes. You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. 2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that way you can continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are safely connected there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. There are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, this is just a small selection of what's available, they are generally quite straightforward. Hello..Please forgive me but I not very computer literate...I have a new computer and want to put the 101 songs that are currently on my Ipod classic onto the itunes playlist for the new computer. How do I go about doing this?? Using the SYNC function won't work because it tells me that all of the songs that i currently have on the ipod will be areased..any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated

Help transferring songs from Ipod, can't download Itunes 7

I have an ipod mini, and manually update the songs on my imac G5. I did not realise I couldn't then transfer the songs back to my itunes library. I've seen a previous topic which mentions enabling disk use, can I do this on a mini? How? I tried to install Itunes 7 on my mac but couldn't because I need OSX 10.3.9 and I'm 10.3.5.
All the instructions are confusing me, I need something simple to explain how I can get my songs off my ipod without losing them all as can't bear the thought of starting all over again.

If you update your iPod manually it's already enabled for disk use.
