Transferring photos in order

Everytime I try to transfer photos from iphoto onto another device (eg USB) they get out of order. This is particularly annoying when trying to sort out my thousands of photos from a Europe trip. How can I transfer them in order. I haven't name the files - so they are all date ordered and with the original number from the camera I used.

That's becuase the files are being viewed in the Finder which sorts alphanumerically or by date depending on how you have that particulare window set up.
If you have a set of photos in a particular order you will need to rename them with a sequential number at the end of the file name so they will be sorted the same.
There's two ways to do that:
1 - select the photos and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Title to Text menu option. Give the files a common title and check the box to add the sequential number to each.
and export the photos to a folder on the Desktop using the option File Name: Use Title.
2 - select the album they are in use the File ➙ Export ➙ File Export menu option with the option File Name: Album name with number.
The resulting photos will be arranged in the same order as they were in that iPhoto album.

For those in this discussion concerned with the "Sort" order, the criteria is in the "metadata" date that changes when you adjust the photos.
The directions below apply to Lightroom
To keep the order you created you must make an adjustment to "ALL" photos at the same time such as increasing the contrast by (1) point.
First select and change the contrast in the first photo in your collection, then select the remaining photos, click "Sync" The "Metatdata" date will change on all photos selected and will then import in the proper order.
They will now be in the exact order you had them in your computer

Thanks for this, I have checked the dates in case the camera settings had been lost unfortunatly in this instance all pics are dated in correct order but not transferred in date order, or date modified order, or is the date config based on US date atyle?

I do not think talking to Apple will do more than the following:
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have several thousand photos in several folders. I have noticed that whenever I want to change the folder used as the side show source, it takes the Screen Saver Preference pane a very long time to respond. It is as if it is scanning all the photos in the currently assigned folder in order to display them in the preview window provided, and it gets so dogged down doing that it can't respond to my clicks on the Choose Folder option.
Assuming you don't want to redistribute your photos into a greater number of folders or subfolders so there would be fewer in each folder to process, you could try a workaround. Try moving your currently-assigned folder to your desktop temporarily, before opening the Screen Saver preference pane. If the preference pane can't find the old folder, it may immediately ask you to choose a new one. You could hopefully then do so, close the preference pane, and then put back the old folder.
It's my understanding that there will be no future updates to Tiger, only security fixes.

Can't open transferred photos in camera roll

I transferred photos from my old 4s to 5s using backup/restore but although I can see the transferred photos as thumbnails in camera roll, I can't open them or do anything with them. The photo simply opens for a second then disappears. This only happens with transferred photos not those taken with the 5s. Any suggestions?

I am having the same thing as well. I click the photos app, I try view the photos I have taken, it just closed out of the photos app and goes straight back to the home screen. There is another way to see the photos you have taken. You click on the camera, then you click on the photos on the bottom left corner, it works for me. I can see all the pictures I have taken.

A lot of I should haves. I had too many photos and while at work I opened up the 4 folders inside of the DCIM folder on my phone. I didn't think it would be a big deal to just cut the photos and paste on my computer as I have done this before. i moved one folder that had 803 pictures in it and all was fine. I ran out of time and unplugged phone and went home. When I got to work this morning I was looking at my phone and realized I only had 34 pictures. I knew there should have been 400+ there and they are gone. Don't know what happened and if they were deleted off phone or computer I cannot see them anywhere. I recently bought a Canon Power Shot. I have used it and transferred photos to my Mac and didnt have any problems. Now all of a sudden, I turned it on, to import the pictures to the computer, and the camera just turns itself off and the Mac says no camera detected ! Open Image Capture located in your Applications folder. Connect your camera.
Select the camera under Devices.
Now click the pop up menu bottom left corner of the Image Capture window and select the app you want to import photos with to your Mac.
Before disconnecting the camera from your Mac, right or control click the camera icon on the Desktop then click Eject.

I am having trouble on transferring photos from iPhoto to my Seagate External Hard Drive

Im new to Mac and I was doing fine with my new laptop but somewhere along the way I have reach to a point where I cant continue my work. What exactly happens when you try to drag photos to your drive? Are you dragging from iPhoto's window to the drive?

Having troubles transferring photos from my Iphone 4s to my computer

I can't transfer photos/videos from my iphone 4s to my computer since the computer won't recognize the phone as I plug it in. I tried to install new drivers but only tells me that all my drivers are up to date. I cant recall having this problem until I switched to Windows 7. I also tried reading these forums and others for a solution but I have this far been unable to find one. Is there anyone else out there having this problem?

Thanks for replying to my question! You mentioned that it might be a problem with my computer, what do you mean by that? Is it the hardware, i.e loose cables and such or is it the software that you refering to?
Great suggestion that I should use Dropbox to transfer my pictures. I already have Dropbox and I have used it to make copies. The problem is that I find the app troublesome to use and I much rather prefer that I can acess the photos as I did before.
I will continue to try to find an solution to my connectivity problems but I appreaciate your advice!

Not a problem when using iPhoto on a Mac, which the transfer of photos is primarily based on - not manually managing photo storage as seems to be common with Windoze.
The same should be available with a supported photo management app on a PC.

Transferring photos in Photoshop 11

Have just transferred photos from old to new computer. Photos transferred OK but folder names did not. It would save a lot of work if folder names could be transferred as well. Running Photoshop 11 and Windows 8.1

The best method is to use backup and restore, starting in the Organizer on the old machine.
