Transferring photos on Ipod Photo

i Have an Ipod Photo 60GB . it all works Ok and i have music and 20,000 Photos stored on it. However i have the following problem.
i can synch my photos from My G5 to the ipod and store them ok.
but what i want to be able to do is to transfer all my photos that are then on that Ipod to my laptop (ibook),.
but when i connect the ipod to it its asks if i want to synch to that library , and update that ipod to that library on the ibook which is not what i want the ipod to do.
i want the synch d library from the G5 transferred across.
I simply want to transfer individual photos or library stored on the Ipod from there to the harddrive of the Ibook. So that i have the same photos on both machines. so i can show people the pictures from the ibook but seem unable to do it.
Simple ? err with Apple NO
is there a way round this ?
im am not sure if this query is in the correct category ,if it isnt i apologise , but maybe i can get help anyway. Thanks

I'm having the same problem, yet my "enable disk use" check is grayed out. I'm in the understanding that because I set my iPod to manually update, it's already enabled for disk use, so I don't have to worry about it.
However, I'm still having trouble seeing my photos. The iPod meter says I have 800k worth of photos on my iPod (5th gen 80-gig video), but when I scroll to the photos menu from the iPod itself, I only see the slideshow settings. I've properly set my photos folder to sync and followed all the directions. I know there are other people who have the same problem and yet no one on the forums seems to answer or are treating them like they're stupid.
Your reply, Neil, was actually the only one I've found that didn't, so thanks for that... but unfortunately the article you pointed to still doesn't solve the issue.

I have photos in iPhoto on my MacBook that i would like to transfer to my iPod Touch (3rd generation). Is there any way of doing this and if so, how?

Attach your iPod to the Computer, open iTunes, click on your iPod and on the right side you could configure which albums, photos etc should be transferred to the iPod.

  • Problems transferring photos to iPod from Nikon D70 and Finepix S602 Zoom

I've been having some difficulties getting a clean transfer of photos from both the D70 and the S602. (Yes, I know the latter is not on the supported list, but the D70 is.)
The first couple of attempts worked fine (both on S602). Transferred 16 photos (9.8 MB) and 13 photos (15.2MB). One from a CF card and one from SmartMedia.
However, the third time it went wrong and not only did the transfer fail but all previously transferred photos apparently disappeared.
Short panic and one reset later the photos are back, but the third roll a) claims to contain only a subset of the photos and b) isn't browseable. Delete is the only option. Further attempts have the same problem, but manually stopping part way through is more successful, so I was able to deal with it in batches. But this is a real pain.
Same problem arises with the D70. But with a 1GB CF is even more painful to manage.
There seems to be little consistency in how much can be successfully transferred before a problem arises. Sometimes it is breaking after 15 shots and a few MB. Other times I can get more transferred, for example, 101 MB (38 photos) or 61 photos (60MB).
I tried switching the D70 to PTP mode (the S602 doesn't support that) and had more success. Everything was going well until it hit 118 photos (299MB) and then it stopped, with the 119th photo showing up as a question mark. This is repeatable. No need to reset this time, so I wonder if it is the same problem.
All the photos successfully transferred are accessible from the PC, but it would be really nice to get it all working more smoothly. Any suggestions?

This is weird, when I connected the iPod to my computer it opened iTunes, and I had to do all the stuff you do the first time, but this time I checked 'Automatically add photos' or whatever as well. So, then it started to put them on my iPod but I pressed skip because I didn't want like over 770 pictures on my iPod, just the ones I would pick... so then, it updated the songs and everything, that was great but I got my hopes up too soon and figured I'm in, but no, I still get the same message when I try to upload photos... ahh, please help!

  • Transferring photos from ipod photo to mac

i've transferred photos from camera to ipod using apples cammera connector. how do i now get these onto my powerbook? I've done this before, but have forgotten.
    thanks,

An iPod nano is not a camera, so you can't do that with iPhoto.
There is a setting that relates to your question.  Select the iPod in the iTunes sidebar, under DEVICES.  Over to the right, go to the Photos tab.  There is a checkbox there, that says Include full-resolution photos.  If that setting was checked WHEN you synced the photos to your iPod, then the iPod will have a copy of photo files at full-resolution.  To retrieve them, Enable disk use on the iPod's Summary tab.  Open the iPod's storage as a "disk," and look for the image files in Photos folder.
If that setting was NOT already checked, then the iPod only has a low-resolution database of "thumbnails" instead of the photos; they are optimized to fit the very small screen on the nano (and save storage space).  They are not in a format that can be used directly on a computer.  There may be third-party utilities that can retrieve the images as individual files, but they would look terrible blown up to computer screen size.  The way they are converted and stored on the iPod, each image is only meant to look decent on the iPod's tiny screen.

  • I've transferred photos to my ipod classic from my laptop. But how can I transfer JPEG images to ipod?

I've transferred photos to my ipod classic from my laptop. But how can I transfer JPEG images to ipod?

    Hello, Blondet787.
JPEG photos are compatible with your device.  As long as these images are in the same folder as your pictures, then they should sync.  Below, I have included a couple articles that show you how to sync this data to your iPod.
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes

The article below is a little more detailed and designed more as a storage solution for media on your iPod Classic.

    Hi JJelder,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
How much space do you have one your iPod left. In your iPod go to Settings (in the main menu) > About and see what it says. How are you putting them in your iPod exactly? Did you look at iPod 101: Put Pics on My ’Pod?

  • ITunes will not preserve directly structure for transferred photos

I have a large number of photographs that I have transferred to my IPod 5G. On my computer hard drive, the photos are organized into a folder for each year (i.e. 2004, 2005) and then those folders contain subfolders for each month in that year. When I synced the photos with my IPod, the subdirectories for each of the months did not copy over, so all the photos are in one giant folder for each year. This makes finding photos in the IPod very difficult, as I have to scroll through all the photos taken in 2005 (hundreds) before I can find the ones from this Christmas (the individual files are sorted by date). Any suggestions as to how I could make sure the whole directory structure is transferred to the IPod?

The photo support in the iPod is based stongly on iPhoto. By default, years are natural folders in iPhoto. Although in iPhoto 6, you can also look by month, it doesn't create a virtual photo representing that. However if you create a folder in iPhoto, say Christmas 2005, that does get transferred properly to the iPod & thus gives the functionality you are looking for.
It sounds like you're using the sync folder method, rather than using a host app, like Adobe Elements or Album. In that method here's what the docs say:
You can sync all of the photos in a selected folder, or only photos in specific folders inside the selected folder. Folders inside the selected folder will be displayed as photo albums on the iPod , but subfolders beneath them will not be.

I do not think talking to Apple will do more than the following:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Can't open transferred photos in camera roll

I transferred photos from my old 4s to 5s using backup/restore but although I can see the transferred photos as thumbnails in camera roll, I can't open them or do anything with them. The photo simply opens for a second then disappears. This only happens with transferred photos not those taken with the 5s. Any suggestions?

I am having the same thing as well. I click the photos app, I try view the photos I have taken, it just closed out of the photos app and goes straight back to the home screen. There is another way to see the photos you have taken. You click on the camera, then you click on the photos on the bottom left corner, it works for me. I can see all the pictures I have taken.
I've been having problems with my camera, whenever I take a picture (with/without flash) my photos turn out black, was wondering if anyone can help us out about this problem.

  • I transferred photos to my computer by cutting and pasting.  I have some on my phone that I didn't cut and paste.  Now they are can and I cannot find them anywhere on phone or computer

I transferred photos to my computer by cutting and pasting.  I have some on my phone that I didn't cut and paste.  Now they are gone and and I cannot find them anywhere on phone or computer. Are they lost forever.  I have done no back-up recently or icloud.  My daughters 8th grade graduation was on it.  I am devastated.

A lot of I should haves.  I had too many photos and while at work I opened up the 4 folders inside of the DCIM folder on my phone.  I didn't think it would be a big deal to just cut the photos and paste on my computer as I have  done this before.  i moved one folder that had 803 pictures in it and all was fine.  I ran out of time and unplugged phone and went home.  When I got to work this morning I was looking at my phone and realized I only had 34 pictures.  I knew there should have been 400+ there and they are gone.  Don't know what happened and if they were deleted off phone or computer I cannot see them anywhere.  I didn't back up (I know mistake) Lessoned learned I just hope there is something i can do!

  • Transferring photos from a Canon to my Mac

I recently bought a Canon Power Shot.  I have used it and transferred photos to my Mac and didnt have any problems. Now all of a sudden, I turned it on, to import the pictures to the computer, and the camera just turns itself off and the Mac says no camera detected !  I dont know if this is a problem with the camera or the Mac. The camera works fine when actually taking pictures.  Can anyone help ?

    Hi..
    Try this ...
Open Image Capture located in your Applications folder. Connect your camera.
    Select the camera under Devices.
Now click the pop up menu bottom left corner of the Image Capture window and select the app you want to import photos with to your Mac.
Before disconnecting the camera from your Mac, right or control click the camera icon on the Desktop then click Eject.

  • I transferred photos fr laptop to iPad. When I transferred more, the ones fr before were gone. This happened every time I added more. How can I save them on my iPad?

When I transferred photos fr my laptop to iPad, the photos put on the iPad before, we're gone. this happened every time I put more on. How can I stop this happening and save the photos on my iPad?

Since this is not icloud related, I suggest you post over in the iTunes forums.  Or the iPhoto forum if that is what you are using, or the Aperture forum (these two are for mac users).
It would also help if you tell us whether the laptop is mac or pc.

  • What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)

I feel like I should know the answer to this. I can't believe it is a hard question.
What is the direct connect method for transfering photos from my macbook pro to my iphone without using iTunes syncronization? (iow: a simple photo copy from mac to iphone?)
    Easy? Right?
Just plug my iphone in to a mac and copy a photo from the mac to my iphone.
I don't have internet access - I can't email it, or mobileme it, or dropbox it.

iTunes. Other than that there is no direct method. However, do try the iPhone forums.
