Transferring Pictures to the Ipod

Every time I follow the steps on the website, I get an error message. Quote:
" The iPod "Austin's Pod" cannot be updated. The disk could not be read from or written to."
I restarted my computer, and tried a different USB port. Nothing worked. Brand new top of the line computer, 2GB ipod, and I just want to load some family albums onto it. Any help appreciated.

  • I've seen on apple's pictures of the ipod 5th generation that it has a battery percentage. Yet i can't find out how to turn it on? does anyone know how to?

When looking on the apple website and iTunes you can see that the picture of the ipod touch 5th gen has a battery percentage indicator but i can't seem to fing the option to turn it on?! Is there actually an option or has apple just added a feature in the photo in which the ipod dosen't contain?

The 5G does not come with a % battery in upper right. The phtos were incorrect. You may be able to add it by:
[How To] Enable the Battery Percentage with iBackupBot | iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch forums | iFans
However, % battery is not accurate on an iPod

  • TS1314 How do you change the default location address (in My Pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

How do you change the default location address (in my pictures) of the IPOD Photo Cache ?

You do no specifically. It sounds like you are syncing a folder to the iPod. In that case:
From a Folder on Mac OS X, Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7
The iPod Photo Cache will be located in the folder you selected to sync with.
Thus, you have to change the location of the folder you sync with.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It will delete all your data. However, before upgrading, iTunes will make a backup, so you can restore it after upgrading and your data will be restored, including your photos taken with your iPod

  • Transfering Music from the ipod to the computer

Hello all I am new in this, i just get my first ipod this week, is a 30Gb Video. i want to know how can i transfer the music that i have in the ipod to my computer, to burn it in CDS or something.
    thank You
    Rubens

    Check out the instructions/suggestions here.
    Music from iPod to computer.
There's also another method. I've successfully tested this across several different Windows PCs.
Open iTunes and select edit/preferences/advanced/general. Put a check mark in the box marked "copy files to iTunes music folder when adding to library" and also "keep iTunes music folder organized", then click 'ok'.
Connect the iPod whilst holding down the shift/ctrl keys to prevent any auto sync, and if you see the dialogue window asking if you want to sync to this itunes library, click 'no'.
Then go to file/add folder, open 'my computer', select your iPod and click 'ok'.
The music files should transfer to your iTunes.
If this doesn't work (and it may not because officially it's not supposed to), there's Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music and playlists etc from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
The above methods will depend on what version of iTunes you are running.
I can't vouch that any of them will work with iTunes version 7.

    Hello Markus,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Hmmm... a few things you can do:
Make sure the photos are in a compatible format:

Do you have the latest version of iTunes?

  • Transferring pictures to the PlayBook

Since the PlayBook only has a micro USB port ... does anyone know if using a USB 2.0 to micro usb adapter would work for putting pictures on the PlayBook?  I need to know before I make my purchasing decision.  I want to use the PlayBook as a substitue for my computer when traveling, but if it's not capable I'm not sure I'll want to buy one.

My card reader has a USB 2.0 connection but that obvously won't fit in the PlayBook's micro usb port.
I had found an adapter that I thought could solve the problem.  You plug your card reader  (USB 2.0) into it and the adapter (micro USB) into the PlayBook.  Clear as mud?!
This will not be possible at least until there is "host mode" support, often referred to as USB OTG ("On The Go").
This functionality will NOT be available at launch, so if that's your sole criterion for deciding, then don't buy for now.
RIM has never officially promised this functionality either, though they've made numerous references to it, and most now believe it will be available some time this year, possibly during the summer.
You will also, of course, require a physical adapter to mate things up properly, but the OTG support is going to require a software update to provide the right drivers and other features to handle this properly.
Initially, the USB port will be solely for "slave mode" connections where you attach the PlayBook to your computer just as you would a flash drive, as a "mass storage" device, for transferring files.

  • What happened to my folder of .jpg pictures on the iPod?

It seems like after the last iTunes and iPod update I have lost the folder of JPEG's I had on the iPod. I use the iPod for picture back up so I do have "keep full resolution" checked in my preferences. I do see that I have several .ithmb files in the photos folder. These files are quite large so im thinking that they must contain my original high reolution pictures as well as my thumbs. Why did this change? Do I have a problem with my iPod or is this just the way these images are saved now? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I solved this problem on my own. A complete restore did the trick and everything is back to normal. I am not really sure why my main folder containing the high resolution pictures disappeared. Something must have happened during the recent updates.

  • I had to replace the hardrive on my laptop. I have over 2000 photos in an album on my iPod Touch but I am unable to get the pictures off the iPod and back onto my computer. Suggestions?

I am in need of assistance with syncing photos on my iPod onto my laptop. Had to replace the hardrive on the laptop and I'm unable to get the photos synced from the iPod.

    - If the photos were taken by or saved to the iPod just use the computer's camera/image capture software to get them from the iPod.
    - If the photos were synced to the iPod you need a third-party program such as PhoneView of TouchCopy.

  • Transferring music from the iPod to iTunes

I had been using a friend's computer for my iTunes because I did not have one of my own at the time. I put all of my music and bought all of my music onto that computer, and then sync'd it onto my iPod. Now I have my own computer and want to be able to transfer my music from my iPod to my iTunes library so that I can play the music from my computer as well. Is this possible? If so, how?

If you have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers has been introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    YamiPod Mac and Windows Versions
    iGadget Windows Only
iPod Access Mac and Windows Versions
    PodUtil Mac and Windows Versions
    iPodCopy Mac and Windows Versions
    TuneJack Windows Only
    CopyPod Windows Only
If your iPod is set to update automatically take care when connecting back to your OWN computer and a different iTunes. You will get a message that your iPod is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all songs from your iPod. Your iPod should appear in the iTunes source list from where you can change the update setting to manual and use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button: Managing content manually on iPod
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync again.

  • Transferring pictures to the camera roll to restore it on the "places" app.

    Hello,
I really love the "Places" app on the iphone whre all my pictures get automatically sorted to where the picture was taken. Unfortunately, I transferred some of my holiday pictures to my laptop and the pictures were removed from from the camera roll. Is there any possible way to transfer the picture that I transferred to my laptop back to my camera roll? This is just so I can get the picture back on the "Places"  tab. The pictures were originally taken by my iphone.  Or is there any other alternatives?
would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

One of the drawbacks to PhotoStream...  You can delete all photos or none of them.  I think the idea is you just leave them in there for the full 30 days and don't worry about trying to manage them.  I've heard that they don't count towards your 5 GB of storage, but have not personally confirmed that.  (I don't take photos with my iPad, and don't keep wifi on on my iPhone, so PhotoStream isn't much use to me.)
