Transferring playlists from I-Pod to new computer
Hello all,
I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before : I recently purchased a new computer as my old one "died". I have all my music files in an external hard drive so they were preserved. When I downloaded I-tunes on my new computer, it did not transfer any of my playlists onto the new computer. They are still on my i-pod. How do I get them on my new computer from my i-pod? Thank you in advance for your help
Everything will copy over just as it is on the iPod EXCEPT playlists. You will have to manually recreate these yourself.

Creating a new playlist in the new library and then clicking on the "Add To" button opens up a window into which to drop dragged songs/folders from the new library listing, but simultaneously closes the left-hand display window with all of my iPod's current playlists depicted.
I appear successfully to have backed up my iPod to the new computer, but all the sync menu options are grayed out. When I tried clicking on the Sync button, I got a warning that syncing to the new library would erase everything from the old library -- presumably obliterating my playlists with it. I have about a dozen different playlists, some of them with several hundred songs, drawn from a library of a few thousand individual items. Is there some means of importing/transferring the old playlists to the new computer/library, so that I don't manually have to drag and drop hundreds and hundreds of songs into a new set of playlists? Am I overlooking something really obvious or simple? Can I safely turn on Home Sharing and then import or paste the old playlists into the new computer's library. I don't think I'm too much of a Luddite, but given the size of my library I'm very leery of turning on Home Sharing (to the old Pentium computer) after I've successfully transferred over many GBs of content from the old machine to the new.

Transferring from i pod to new computer (without access to old computer)
Is there any way for me to transfer the content of my i pod onto my new computer without using the old computer? I am abroad and have no access to it at present. i have read the i tunes support sections, and understand I can have my i -tunes content from my old computer backed up onto cd then sent to me for me to then install on my computer here. However, if there is an easier way to do this then I'd be keen to know! Can anyone help?

My last computer became corrupted and unusable and I am left only with my ipod of music, which I would like to transfer to a new computer, however, it will not synch with the new one as it is says my ipod is already synched with another computer (my old one!). I have contacted apple and they have sent me information, but you need to make adjustments on the old computer (which no longer exists)to transfer the files. Is there a way of transferring the music from the ipod to my new computer, without using my old computer?
Thanks...OK, I had to restore my laptop to factory-settings, and so lost all my music in iTunes. Still have my music on my iPod, but obviously can't syncronise it as I'd lose all the music on there.
I have tried a couple of software packages (ipod2computer & Tune Tools), but neither of them seem to work (one keeps asking me to put in my credit card details again and the other just hangs or saying it hs updating data, but after a few hours nothing happens). Really looking for help or recommendations in transfering music files from my ipod or software that can enable this.

Transfering playlist to itunes on a new computer
I currently have iTunes on my computer and all my music is kept on a external hard drive and would like to transfer everything to a new computer. I've done this once before and I lost all of my playists that I made. Is there a way to save/load my playlists onto the new computer?
Playlists are contained in the iTunesLibrary.itl file in the iTunes folder.
Move or Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the current computer to the new computer and everything will transfer over. -
Help transferring cs3 from a laptop to new computer
I've got photoshop cs3 installed on my computer that i use for my small business (it was running vista) but it recently died so I've had a new one built running windows 7. My question is though, how do I get photoshop cs3 transferred from my laptop (which i also have it installed on) to the new computer?? I have the serial number if needed but I've lost the installation cd when moving house recently.

First time poster here. I would like to ask the question when you buy a new computer, if you download itunes and sign into it using your account setting, are all your songs etc still stored on it?
I have just bought a new computer and I am wondering how to get all my stuff on itunes from the old computer to the new one without having to start from scratch, does anyone know if there is an easy way to do this?

MagunchNo, simply installing iTunes and authorizing your computer will not restore your music. You will to transfer your iTunes folder from your old computer. In your iTunes folder (assuming you used the default settings) are your media and your iTunes.itl file which contains all of your playlist data, playcounts, ratings, etc. Depending on the size of your library, you can transfer this using a usb flash drive, an external hard drive, by burning to DVD or by using an ethernet cable.

changed computers and now trying to get music from itune account that was downloaded from cd's but not showing in itunes on new computer.
iTunes Match will do that for you, turn it on in the Store menu (in iTunes). It's $25 per year.

The right way to transfer your iTunes Library is from the old computer to the new one. iTunes will only give you the option to copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
If you purchased music from the iTunes Store, no worries, you can simply download it again with the one caveat that the music is still available in the Store.
For music purchased or obtained from sources other than the iTunes Store, you must obtain it from those sources again. Music is intended to go from your computer to the iPod. Going the other way is contrary to the design and requires the assistance of third party utilities. -

iTunes includes an option to transfer content that was purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for content that was purchased from the iTunes Store only.
Without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
The iPhone is not designed for or intended to be a backup device.
