Transferring Presets

while bored on a flight i made dozens of presets for monochrome, white balance, color monochrome ...
how can i transfer those presets back to my workstation ??? that is where are the files for those presets ... i have been searching around and no luck yet ...

If your library is on an external drive or transferresd to one, you could lift any adjustments to images and create new presets on the workstation. If settings for things such as printing on a specific paper, the easiest thing to do would be to copy the settings. I'm not sure if this helps.

  • Transferring Preset Print settings between computers using indesign

    Ok so I just got a brand new macbook pro that has the latest os x 10.5.7, and I'm using it at work. I need to print files off of indesign in a specific way that my computer doesn't know how to. One of the work computers has been setup before and i need to transfer the presets from that computer to this one. I've tried replacing my com.apple.print.custompresets.plist file and that didn't work. Then i called applecare and they said transfer files from the hidden folder etc. I copied the ppd folder and the two files right below it which were printers.conf and printers.con.O, and that didn't work either. So finally i tried to save the preset settings directly from indesign by going to print presets/define/save, then i put that file on my computer and tried opening the file as a preset setting but it said that indesign cannot locate the ppd specified by the preset. Any ideas?

    I haven't tried to install a postscript printer on a Mac in over 4 years, so I'm pretty rusty, and I honestly don't know how to check what driver is in use, but I suspect you don't have the postscript driver installed.
    But to do what you want is more than just picking the correct print driver. Somewhere along the line you need to impose the booklet. I don't know the printer, but I imagine the controller has some some sort of imposition function built in, along with controls for the finisher.
    I've just been on the Konica Minota site and it looks as if the PS drivers were issued for OS 10.4, but all they have for 10.5 looks like a paper size patch. You should probably call KM cutomer service (or your vendor) to see what you need to do to get it installed correctly.

  • CS3 Presets to CS5?

    Hi,
    Is there anyway to import presets from Media Encoder CS3 to CS5?

    Hi John,
    I should have put a caveat on my original message - presets from older versions of AME will work only if the internal data structure of the format in question hasn't changed.  That's the short way of saying that in every version of AME there's a risk that our software developers will need to change how a format represents its settings internally, and the data in presets from earlier versions won't match up.
    That's my fault for not noting that requirement, and I apologize.
    In the case of QuickTime presets specifically, this is very true. In my simple tests, QuickTime presets from CS3 will not open in CS5.  (Your original post did not specify a format; I didn't do a very good job with my initial tests before replying to your message.)  Here's why:
    Because Premiere Pro and After Effects are now 64-bit applications, and there is no 64-bit version of QuickTime available, the Adobe CS5 applications needed a new method to write QuickTime files.  AME, After Effects, and Premiere Pro now handle all of the QuickTime settings internally, instead of calling on the QuickTime API as was done in CS4 and earlier versions.  Then they call a 32-bit service called Adobe QT 32 Server, which talks to QuickTime and writes the file.
    The fallout of the changes in CS5 have impacted you in two different ways.
    1. The data structure for QuickTime presets is now very, very different.  Presets from earlier versions won't work in CS5.
    2. The appearance and arrangement of the settings for QuickTime is different.  You have noticed this.
    Let's tackle some of the specific changes you've mentioned about the available QuickTime options:
    > For example, the Quicktime DVCPRO-NTSC settings availble in CS3 is not available in CS5.
    Correct, this specific codec doesn't exist in CS5.  Use instead the DV25 NTSC or DV50 NTSC codec.  Probably DV25, unless you have a specific need for DV50.
    > In addition, a number of Options (field orders, etc) are greyed out in AME CS5
    Some codecs, including the DV formats, are implicit to a format that defines certain parameters of the video.  For example, DV NTSC is ALWAYS 720x480, 0.9 or 1.21 PAR, 29.97fps, Lower Field First.  When a codec pre-defines parameters, AME CS5 doesn't allow you to change them.  If you change the codec to one that allows more control, for example None or PNG, you will see these options become available again.
    (As a comparison, choose the DVCPRO HD 1080i60 codec, and you'll see that it locks the parameters to 1280x1080, 1.5 PAR, 29.97fps, Upper Filed First.)
    Earlier versions of AME did not impose this type of restriction for QuickTime because it was using the QuickTime API, and that dictated what settings were possible.  QuickTime is actually kind of lazy about complying with format restrictions.  You could stuff just about any frame rate/frame size/field order/etc. of video into most QuickTime codecs and it would not only accept it, but QuickTime Player could play it back.  But you'd get unpredictable results if you tried to use that QuickTime file with a system that ahderes to strict format compliance.
    =====
    Now, QuickTime aside, I assure you that my previous post wasn't in error.  Some presets from CS3 will work in CS5.  I've tested the MPEG2, H.264, and FLV formats on Windows and verified that they work.  I did see some problems; for example the frame rate for H.264 and FLV wasn't correct when the preset was loaded into CS5.  So if you do transfer a preset from earlier versions to CS5, you should inspect the preset after loading to make sure that it is correct.
    Note that when you save a preset, you are not given the option to choose where the preset is saved.  The file is always saved in the default location.
    CS3: <drive>\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\3.0\MediaIO\Presets
    CS5: <drive>\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\AME\5.0
    You can copy the preset files to a different location if you want, but simply copying them into the folder for CS5 won't automatically load them into AME CS5.  You need to use the Import Preset function inside AME to add them to your list of presets.
    Also, do not rename the .vpr files from CS3 to .epr.  I don't understand why, but this causes them to fail to load.  But because CS5 only looks for .epr files in the Import dialog, you need to use a little trickery to make it find them.
    Here are the steps to take:
    In AME CS5, select the format you are going to add the preset to.  For example, if you want to add a preset for FLV, don't leave the Format selection on MPEG2.  Change it to FLV or you'll get an error.
    Click the Import Preset button (the folder icon).
    Navigate to the folder where the preset is located.
    In the File Name field, type the name of the preset file, including the .vpr extension.  You could also copy/paste the name, or usually if you just start typing the name then Windows will display a drop-down menu with the list of file names in that folder that match what you've typed.  For example, if the preset file name is "FLV 640x480 30fps.vpr", if you type "FLV 6", you should see a list of files that start with that name.  Click on the file name to load the whole string into the File Name field.
    Click Open.
    The preset will be loaded, and you'll be shown a dialog asking you to name it.  Yes, this is a little bit redundant.
    =====
    I hope that clears up the situation for you.  Please reply with further questions if not.
    To wrap this all up, I need to give you a caveat that is bigger than the one before: the workflow of transferring presets between versions of AME was not explicitly designed to work.
    That is to say that when AME was designed, this workflow was either not considered, or wasn't included due to time or budget constraints.  (I couldn't tell you which since I wasn't working on the AME project when those decisions were made.)  Keep in mind what I posted above about how data structures can change from version to version; that means the ability to transfer presets from version to version would require specific engineering and testing work; it's not a given.
    One reason why the work may not have been considered is that not enough people asked for it.  That's where you can help us.  If this is something you'd like to see in a future release, I encourage you to fill out a feature request for it.
    And all of the above said, Presets is one area of AME that we know needs to be improved, and we are working on improvements for future releases.  But don't let that stop you from filing feature requests if you have ideas about how you'd like AME to work, or for any other change you'd like to see in an Adobe product.

  • Can you import the graphic equalizer presets from 1.5 into 3.0?

    Is there a way to import the graphic equalizer presets from AA 1.5 into 3.0?  I want to use the "Destination: Car Stereo" preset.

    It's actually pretty simple to do, but I have to warn you that because the effects were rewritten in Audition 3, transferring presets means that they won't necessarily sound the same, I'm afraid. Also, make sure that you've installed the patch first, so you're running 3.0.1.
    Process goes like this: Find your Audition.ini file (this is in C:Documents and Settings\{username}Application Data\Adobe\Audition\1.5 - these files might be hidden; you have to unhide them first), and to play safe, make a copy of it. Pick up the copy and drop it on the Audition 3 icon on your desktop. Yes I know this sounds a bit strange, but just do it! What will happen after a few seconds is that Audition 3 will open, but you'll get a number of dialog boxes telling you what's going on, and asking for permission to overwrite anything that has the same name. Essentially it will transfer every 1.5 preset you have into 3.0.1.

  • Macintosh transfer over the presets and preferences WITHOUT transferring the ENTIRE HD with "target disc mode

    I've been currently using a 2011 MBP with OS 10.7.5, using the "home" folder, which I will NOT be doing on the new one MBP with Mavericks.

    Mainly it's the presets and preferences I want to transfer.

  • Transferring Export Presets

    I have a LOT of custom export presets - one for each of the TV stations / Networks / Cable Outlets that we send commercials to. How do I transfer those presets from Premiere CC to Premiere CC 2014? (Not talking about "sync settings" - that works for keyboard shortcuts and other basic preferences but does NOT include custom export presets. Why not?)

    Export the presets in AMECC from the Preset Browser and import them into AME14.

    I recently had some 8mm film transferred to DVD. I am trying to edit the film clips using Premier Elements 4.0. so I can reburn the films on a single BluRay disc. Some of the film clips copy into the project but others don't. I tried copying the VOB filed onto my hard drive and then changing the file extensions on the VOB files to MPEG but this was no help. Some of the VOB files contain numerous film clips but my software does not appear to be able to recognize them as such. I need to know if replacing my old Premier Elements with the new Version 13 would solve this problem or not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    What do you have now.....
    What computer operating system do you have?
    We can go into the finer points of source and your intentions, but for now it would appear that you are using SD 4:3 source media to get to a HD 16:9 result. Lots to discuss in this regard.
    What was given to you on the DVD disc? DVD-VIDEO 4:3 or something else?
    If DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, you should expect to find on the disc a folder named VIDEO_TS. That is your target for your video files.
    If you were given a DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc, then all you want from it are the video files, specifically
    VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB, and so on through that series until possibly getting to
    VTS_02_1.VOB, and so on. How many files you have beyond the VTS_01_1.VOB file will depend on the size of the DVD-VIDEO.
    Does the above scenario apply to you?
    The alternative might be someone giving a DVD disc (data disc) which contains just the VTS files mentioned which were copied from
    the VIDEO_TS Folder. So, you do not get the whole VIDEO_TS Folder, just the essential video files. Does this scenario apply to you.
    I see no need to replace your Premiere Elements 4 with a later version unless you have a huge project and need a later version that will be a 64 bit application running specifically on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit computer.
    Consider...Premiere Elements 4 and if you have DVD-VIDEO on DVD....
    1. Place the DVD disc in the burner tray
    2. Open Premiere Elements 4 and set the project preset for NTSC DV Standard (assuming you are working in a NTSC setup)
    3. Go to
    Get Media
    "DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader"
    "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" and its Advanced dialog.
    Set the Source in the latter dialog for the drive which has your DVD disc inserted in its tray
    You should see your VTS_01_1.VOB thumbnail in the "Adobe Premiere Elements - Media Downloader" Advanced dialog.
    With this VOB selected, click on Get Media to get the file from there into the project.
    Should work fine.
    Complications may be involved if the people who processed your footage gave you something other what is described above.
    Please review and consider, and then we can plan our project strategy accordingly.
    Thank you.

  • Prelude CC does not have ProRes presets

    Hi - I would like to use Prelude CC to convert my media to ProRes 422. It does not give me this option in the drop down menu. When I use Adobe Encoder CC this option appears. I've tried to download and install the codecs from Quicktime but that does not work either.
    Thanks for the help!

    Went over to the off-line help part of the Adobe site to check out the Prelude manual ... read down and under "Ingestion" got to this:
    7.  To specify transcoding settings for the ingested files, select Transcode. Use the submenus to specify presets for transcoding the files. To
    specify additional presets, add presets in Adobe Media Encoder. The presets are reflected in Prelude.
    If you have Adobe Premiere Pro installed on your computer, select Stitch Clips Together to combine several selected clips into a single
    movie clip. Specify a name for the movie clip. After ingest, the newly stitched clip is displayed in the Project panel.
    8. To transcode the selected files in more than one format or to transfer files to multiple locations, click Add Destination. Repeat the procedure.
    Only files transferred to the primary destination appear in the Prelude project panel when ingesting is complete.
    9. Click Ingest.
    Files are transcoded using Adobe Media Encoder. The transcoded files are displayed in the destination folder after the transcoding process is
    complete.
    So ... read the manual and it says if you want presets to go to A. Media Encoder, & make them there, right? Give that a try ...

  • Transfering VHS-C tapes to FCE

    I am transfering home movies from VHS-C tapes (the small tapes that are fatter than miniDV, that you have to place into a VHS tape adapter) into FCE 4.0. I have to use a VCR and am running that through a DV converter which runs into my external HD by means of firewire. I have easy setup set to DV converter box, but when I am done capturing, I get the error message that the audio might be out of synch due to inproper settings, that's not verbatim but the jests of the message. Since there is only one DV box setting, how do I get the correct setting?

    The DV-NTSC DV Converter easy setup expects 48KHz audio. I suspect your converter box may be set for 32KHz audio - you should check it. BTW, what make/model is it?
    First check Item Properties for one of the clip(s) you captured - what does it say for Aud rate?
    If your clips really are 32KHz audio, you could try creating a new sequence, then before doing anything with it, click on the +sequence name+ in the FCE browser, select Settings, then click +Load Sequence Presets+ and select +DV-NTSC 32Khz.+ Then go ahead with your editing.
    One other thing, you really should have the converter box connected directly to your Mac, no other Firewire device connected at the same time. With a daisychained setup, you may run into capture problems, and actually the audio sync message you got may have been caused by the daisychained devices.

  • Transfering image in clipboard to the Oracle DB??????????

    Hi,
    Below is the code I'm using to get the image from the clipboard and display it. Basically I want to also write this image to the Oracle Database.
    Can anyone please advise me on the conversion of this image into byte and then how to transfer it to DB????
    Sample code will be a great help!!!!!!
    public static Image getClipboard() {
    Transferable t = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getSystemClipboard().getContents(null);
    try {
    if (t != null && t.isDataFlavorSupported(DataFlavor.imageFlavor)) {
    Image text = (Image)t.getTransferData(DataFlavor.imageFlavor);
    return text;
    } catch (UnsupportedFlavorException e) {
    } catch (IOException e) {
    return null;
    void button1_actionPerformed(ActionEvent e)
    jLabel1.setIcon(new ImageIcon(this.getClipboard()));
    Many Thanks!

    But quality is a real point here.
    So you should request a slightly different feature: drag an image thumbnail from LR to Word, which in the background executes the commands
    1. Render file as somewhere specified (e.g. In a dedicated export preset for application transfer).
    2. Insert the resulting file into Word
    3. Ditch the file use for transmission.
    4. Update history of the file with this export. - maybe yiu would not be interested in this last point, but it would fit LR logic.
    The correct place to request features and let oters vote on them is another forum

    Ok, either my question was too long or nobody seems to have an answer. Sad, either way
    Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
    When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
    Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
    Two questions, every idea would be great!
    - Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
    - Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?
    Thank you again,

  • CS6 problems: AE composition crash, DSLR preset missing?

    Hey there,
    I just installed the new trial for Premiere CS6 and it's feeling great, although I got 2 problems by now:
    1. When starting a new project and a new composition, where did the presets for DSLR based composition go to? All I can see is DV presets.
    2. I get a crash when trying to render an AE imported composition (after it was transferred to AE through Premiere), anyone knows why or what can I do to resolve it?
    Thanks a lot
    Or

    1.  In Premiere Pro, it's called a sequence.  If the only sequence presets you have are DV based, then something got smurfed with your installation.  You'll have to uninstall, run the Adobe Clean Script utility, reboot and reinstall.
    2.  Something got weird with your install.  Try again after finishing step one above.

    I have installed Audition on another machine in the office and am transfering things across.
    How do I transfer the Presets?  Where are they located?
    I'm talking Reverb settings ...

    Are you on a PC or a Mac? All the settings and presets are stored as .xml files located in a folder as below:
    Windows:

    I currently have Lightroom 2 and am thinking of purchasing Lightroom 3. Can I transfer my user presets from Lightroom 2 to Lightroom 3?
    Also, does it matter that I'm switching to mac from PC when transferring my catalogues etc.?

    Ans 1 - The User Presets folder is shared across all versions of Lightroom, so there's normally no reason why you would need to do anything after an upgrade.
    Ans 2 - Yes, moving from one OS to another means you have a few hurdles to jump. Install Lr3 on your Mac then copy the Catalog and Previews across to the Mac. When you launch Lr3 on the Mac it will create an new default Template/Preset folder named "Lightroom" at /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Adobe/ Next, copy the entire Lightroom Template/Preset folder from the PC to the Mac, thus replacing the original. Relaunch Lr3 and the old presets should now be accessible.
