Transferring Purchased Music on Iphone to iTunes

I recently purchased a Sony Vaio that died on me.... It just came back from Sony, like brand new.
I have my purchased music on my iPhone and haven't been able to transfer the music to the blank iTunes that I have now...... And when I try tu upgrade to the new iphone version, I get a warning that all of my music will be ERASED...
How can I tranfer my purchases from my iPhone to my BLANK iTunes?
HELP!

Plug in iPhone. Then up in File menu in iTunes, tell it to transfer purchased content.
But FIRST, log into iTunes Store on that computer so it knows your account info thus knows what to look for on iPhone.

  • Transferring purchased music from iPhone to iTunes

I purchased a song on my iPhone, but it doesn't want to transfer to my iTunes when I try to drag it. Transferring purchased songs from my iTunes to my iPhone is no problem, just not the other way around. Does anyone know how to do this? I have a 3G iPhone.

Do you have Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes?
If so, this is automatic, or should be. With Sync Music selected under the Music tab, after purchasing a song with your iPhone the song will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. The same applies with 3rd party apps if you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
Are you manually managing music and video with your iPhone with this selected under the Summary tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes? If so, after music is downloaded with your iPhone it will not be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so since you are manually managing music and video with your iPhone, which provides no benefit with an iPhone whatsoever compared to doing the same with an iPod since an iPhone doesn't support disk mode.
If you are manually managing music and video with your iPhone, music and video is not being transferred to your iPhone automatically - it is being done manually - hence the name of the option - "manually manage music and videos". If you choose to manually manage music and videos, then you've also chosen to manually transfer any music or video that was downloaded from the iTunes store with your iPhone from your iPhone to your iTunes library.

  • Transferring purchased apps from iPhone to iTunes

I can't seem to get all my applications from my iPhone into iTunes -- only a handful of them actually show up.
I tried "transfer purchases," and it appears to copy them, but they're nowhere to be found in iTunes.
    Any ideas?

I should clarify: iTunes in the cloud for music is not available in my country. It is of course available for apps.

  • Cannot Transfer Purchased Music from iPhone to iTunes

    Hello,
I recently purchased a couple albums on my iPhone and downloaded them on the iPhone.  When I synched my iPhone to iTunes on my PC, I expected that these purchased songs would be transferred - that's what usually happens.
In this case, the songs now appear in my iTunes library, but they're greyed out, each with the small circular sync symbol on the left side.  I am trying to figure out how to get these songs into iTunes.
I've tried navigating to the iTunes store > Purchased, selecting "Recent Purchases" and I can see my songs.  There is a disabled button to the right of each song that said "Downloaded"... so apparently I'm not able to download them again...
Then I tried right-clicking my iPhone (while connected to iTunes) and selecting "Transfer Purchases" - one would hope that this would do it, but alas it's not to be.  The status window shows "Transferring purchases" very quickly, then back to normal (Apple icon).  The songs aren't transferred.
Any suggestions on what to do next would be greatly appreciated.

I seem to have resolved it somehow while waiting on the phone for Apple support.
I turned everything on my iPhone and in iTunes related to iCould to "off".  Glad Apple support had me on hold fo 45 minutes or else I'd never have found the time to fix this.  Glad I saved some $$$.
Judging by some of the other threads, it's probably wise to disable iCloud stuff if you don't live in the US.

  • Transferring non-purchased music from iphone to itunes

I've got an iphone with a lot of music I originally transferred from my CDs onto itunes then onto my iphone. My laptop with all my itunes and music on was reently stolen and I don't want to go through the pain of reloading all my CDs. I have managed to transfer purchases from my old account (which I shut down as a result of the theft), but cannot work out how to transfer the CD music from the iphone to the new computer and itunes. It keeps telling me I'm going to wipe the iphone. Any help?

You'll have to use third party software, as Apple makes no provision to do so:

  • Transferring Purchased Music from iPhone to new hard drive

Hard-drive burned up and has been replaced. Most music was backed up, but not all. And most of the new music (that hasn't been backed-up) is on the iPhone. But I can't copy the files on my iPhone back to my new hard drive. Obviously there are security measures to keep folks from transferring files all over the place. But it seems that if it's on my iPhone, I must have obtained it legally, and there must be some accommodation for a dead hard drive.
Same question for my iPhone apps. I'd rather not pay for apps twice, and iTunes won't let me copy them from my iPhone back onto my 'puter. As soon as I sync apps, they'll all disappear, unless there's some way to convince the phone that it's looking at the old, pre-burned-up-hard-drive.
File>Transfer Purchases sort of worked, but not completely. I have about 600 songs on my iPhone, and it copied about 200 of them to my new hard drive. I have music purchased from iTunes, music copied from purchased CDs, and free downloads (Starbucks, Paste, etc). And there's no trend in what got copied and what didn't. Some of each category was copied, but not all. Very confusing that I can't find a pattern.
    OS X 10.5.8, iPhone 3G with 3.1.3

Apps issue solved. Or, more accurately, it's a non-issue. iTunes prompts you that you already bought the app and can download it for free. Not so with music, I'm afraid.

  • Transferring/restoring music from iPhone to iTunes

I had a computer meltdown necessitating me getting an all new computer; no opportunity to de-authorize the old one. This is a work computer, and they do not backup itunes purchases, as per company policy. Unfortunately I never was able to back-up my itunes due to the CD burner having problems. But, all my tunes are on my iPhone and on my Shuffle. Today I tried to transfer them to the brand-spanking new computer.
I installed the latest iTunes - no problem.
I update the software on my iPhone - no problem.
I rebooted everything, just to be on safe side.
I authorized the new computer, providing email and credit card and name of first born - no problem.
I checked "transfer itunes to new computer" ... and synced...and waited.
Only to get an error message saying not all tunes could be located. Turns out NONE of them could be located. Not a single one! All have a next to them. They are all still on my iPhone.
How do I get them on to my new computer?

Thank you Carolyn; that was the first link I found before I started attempting the transfer. I followed it to the letter. And, it did not work. Hence, why I am posting my question.
    Any other thoughts?

  • Transferring purchased music from iPod to iTunes

By accident, I deleted two albums from my hard drive. They were purchased from the iTunes store. I do have the music on my iPod though. I went through the process of making sure my computer was authorized, and then from the file menu, chose "Transfer purchases from "my iPod". It says it is syching, but I cannot find the file in iTunes, nor on my hard drive. Any suggestions?

Hi .. we do this all the time..if its downloaded music put your music into a folder.. then use the drop down "file" menu and import the folder...its really easy..but you also have to create a path for your music..this is done via "edit" drop down /preferences/advanced.. and tell it where your music folder is... other wise your music wont play... if you are using your own cd,s its even easier just put cd in.. tick selected songs.. and import cd

  • How do I transfer my iTunes library to a new computer?  I have transferred purchased music but wish to transfer the rest of my library.  Home sharing isn't responding and the computers are going to be in different locations.

How do I transfer my iTunes library from my old computer to my new one?  I have successfully transferred purchased music but not my library of CDs.  Home sharing will not work, and isn't working in fact, as the computers will be in different countries.

Assuming your library is in the default location and all of the media is stored within the library's media folder then this is what you need to do:
Copy the entire iTunes folder from <User's Music> on the source computer to <User's Music> on the target computer.
You can do this directly over a network (making use of shared network folders) or by making a copy on an external drive, moving the drive between computers, and copying again. Any way that works is good. However if you say that you cannot use Home Sharing (doesn't work properly anyway) because the source and target are not on the same network then method 2 as I describe it won't work either.
Your playlists, play counts, ratings etc. are stored inside the database iTunes Library.itl which is inside the iTunes folder and a successful migration includes all of this information, not just the media files. I recommend method 1 from the earlier link as it sets you up with a backup mechanism to use in future. All hard drives fail eventually and often without warning, or at least a warning that is noticed and then heeded.
If the initial assumption is wrong, or you need help checking, just ask.

  • Purchased music on iPhone 5, shows as purchased but not on phone (iTunes Match)

This has happened not just for a few songs but for a couple of albums and about 5 songs.
I buy some music on my iPhone 5 on iTunes, and here recently only a handful of my purchased music will not show up on my phone. They show in the iTunes store as "Purchased" but i can not download them again. I go to where my purchased music is in the iTunes Store and there are only certain songs that are there.  I, within the past week, bought some music and it shows up.  Something came up on my computer about 5 or so days ago and it said "Do you want to add this computer to iTunes Match?" and I obviously said yes.  After that I noticed that it updated and a chunk of my purchased music had disappeared.  I'm running purely on memory and my emailed receipts as to what songs are not showing up.
These are the songs that I have found are not on my phone or my iTunes:
    Budapest - George Ezra
    She Knows - Ne-Yo
    Try Me - DeJ Loaf
    BORNS - Candy EP
    Rae Sremmurd - SremmLife (album)
    and possibly more.
I just purchased the new Drake album that came out this week and so far so good (meaning that it hasn't disappeared yet).
    I've tried
    1. updating iTunes Match
    2. signing out of iTunes and signing out on my iPhone
    and
    3. turning iTunes Match off then back on my iPhone
Is there anything else that I can do or do I need to contact Apple about this??

  • ITunes locks up while transfering purchased apps from iphone 4

I have had various issues with upgrading to itunes 10.5. Now that most problems have been solved I am having trouble transferring purchased apps from iphone to library. The process starts but after a few apps itunes locks up. I have to go to task manager to exit. Task manager confirms itunes is not repsonding. Any help is aprreciated. I am also getting the blank page when opening itunes.

An iPhone backup does not contain any iTunes content. After you restore from backup, you must sync or re-download your iTunes content, to restore it to your device.

  • Purchasing music from iPhone

How does it work if I purchase music on iPhones? Will the songs be transfered from iPhone to my computer when I sync? Or will the music download from iTunes to my computer when I open iTunes on the computer?
Is the song quality the same regardless if it is purchased via iPhone or my computer?
    Thanks

If you purchase music on your iPhone it will be the same quality as if you purchase it on your computer. After purchasing the music the next time you sync to your computer the purchased music will be transferred to your iTunes Library and then you can back it up. If your iPhone is set to autosync this will be done as part of the sync, if you are manually managing your music you will have to go into iTunes and direct the transfer of the songs.
It is a good idea to sync ASAP as soon as possible after your purchase, and make sure you are syncing on your computer and you are logged into the same iTunes account that you used to purchase the music on the iPhone.

  • Seeing iTunes deleted my iPod, how can I transfer music from iPhone to iTunes?

seeing iTunes deleted my iPod, how can I transfer music from iPhone to iTunes?

any itunes purchased music can be transferred from phone to pc via hitting the "transfer purchases" option when u right click on the phone under devices in itunes on the computer when it is plugged in. any non-itunes purchased music is stuck on the phone and cannot be transferred to the computer. u will have to load it onto the computer from the original source or from the old computer.
