Transferring RAW photos from an iTouch back to my Mac

My iMac recently bogged out on me. I have no idea what happened. Nonetheless everything was wiped clean from it. Luckily, I was able to salvage some of my stuff (music, videos etc) from my iTouch using TouchCopy. However, my iTouch has about 800 or so photos all of which are RAW in format. TouchCopy does not recognize RAW images so I have yet to transfer all my photos from the iTouch back into iPhoto. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? How can I get these photos back onto my iMac. Thank you.
Matt

There are no RAW images on the Touch or iPhone.
The images there are in relatively low resolution compared to what was on your Mac.
You should be able to import them in iPhoto or Image Capture applications or even Preview.
Connect your iPod and it should show up in those apps.
Launch Preview and goto the File menu / Import image.

  • Getting photos from my ipad back to my Mac that are NOT in camera roll.

Our hard drive failed and my back up files were corrupt so I lost my entire digital life including my iphotos.  I had set up my ipad to sync several folders from  iphoto to my ipad when I did an itunes sync.  All of these photos and folders  are currently viewable on my ipad.  When I plug the ipad in to sync, i can only transfer the photos that are currently in the camera roll (355 photos)  There are 5000 photos on the ipad via the folders I previously synced.
How do I get these photo back to my mac?  Is it even possible?
Image caputer doesn't work because it only looks at the photos in the camera roll (ie taken by the ipad).
To sum up:  Basically starting with a new mac and trying to get photos from the ipad back on the mac.
    Thank You!

If you have iPhoto on your iPad, you can save the photos back to the camera roll: you can select complete albums or events at once to do that.
Save photos to the Camera Roll on your iOS device
Tap a photo, album, or event and tap > Camera Roll.
Tap Selected, or change the photos you want to save:
Select different photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap up to 100 photos, and tap Next.
Select a range of photos: Tap Choose Photos, tap Range, tap the first and last photos in the range, and tap Next.
Select all the photos in an album or event: Tap All.
    Tap Done.
To use your photo in another app, open the app and select the Camera Roll album.
For other sharing options from iPhoto see:  Ways to share photos
But a third-party app, like Terence Devlin suggested wll probably quicker and safer, since you have 5000 photos to transfer.
my back up files were corrupt
Have you tried data recovery software on your backup drive? Software like
    Disk Drill: http://www.cleverfiles.com/
might still be able to restore jpeg files at least.

  • I need to get my photos from my IPad back to my Mac. , to do that. Any suggestions? Thank you

Can anyone tell me how to get ALL my pictures from my iPad to my MAC. My Mac crashed and had to be restored, my IPad was synced up with it and now every time I try to synch it to my computer it wants to erase all my photos from my iPad. I have over 4000 photos so emailing them to myself as suggested by the kid at the Apple store in NY is not going to work. If someone out there can help I would be grateful. I have the latest version of iPhoto and Lion OSX.

Thank you.  I am trying again to backup my catalog to my second hard drive.  When I tried it before it would stop at 64% at which point I figured it was stuck and cancelled it.  The third time I tried it I let it go for a day, and then it gave me an error message.  Unfortunately, I was so frustrated I didn't write down or look up the error message, I just decided to copy in Windows instead - just so I would have a backup for my stuff.  Currently it again seems to be stuck on 64% again.  I will let it go and see if I eventually get an error message and then try to look that up and resolve it.  If successful I will then reconnect with the method you shared with me - thank you!

  • How do you download photos from Apple TV back to a mac

I had to clear my hard drive and lost all my photos however they are stored on my apple TV. Does anyone know how to get them back onto Iphoto from the apple TV?

There is no easy procedure to do this.
    • You can take our the ATV's hard drive, connect it to a computer, and read the data (thereby voiding your warranty).
    • You can try to "hack" the software of the ATV to access the disk. A commercial offer of a device that promises to do this just appeared (look at the thread next to yours), but nobody in this forum has yet tested it, so I certainly am not recommending it. If it works, it's probably the cheapest option if you're not technically savvy.

  • How can I export a RAW photo from iphoto to anywhere without it changing into a jpg?

How can I export a RAW photo from iphoto to anywhere (PSE, or desktop) without it changing into a jpg???

See if any of this info will help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.  3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
NOTE: If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window".  That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu).  This way you get the best of both worlds.

  • IPAD2 since yesterday seems to have stopped allowing transfers of photos from anything other than another Apple product and comes up with the message2 itunes will no longer sync photos....which are not transferred from a Mac? Looks as if there is a prob

IPAD2 since yesterday seems to have stopped transfers of photos from non Mac equipment. I use dell with ITunes cloud facility.
Any ideas or are we to await Mac correcting the software?

Okay, can someone please give a useful answer? Thanks! I have been experiencing exactly the same problem for some time now, and it is very annoying. Furthermore, I would like to point out to Chris CA that there is absolutely nothing ambiguous about the original post.
So here is the deal. I used to be able to burn CDs with iTunes that played back fine on both my car and home stereo. After some update, and I am very sorry but I really do not remember which one, as I am just a user and not a programmer and just want something that works, which in the end Apple used to be all about, and therefore do not keep track of all the updates, CDs won't play back on my car stereo. Nothing else changed, still the same brand of CDs (even the same stack!), still the same car stereo, and still the same 2007 MBP. So by simple deduction I conclude it must be a software update. And I do not care what the exact cause is, I just want a fix!
I'd like to apologize for my tone in the above, but it is just a very annoying problem, even more so because it seems nothing is being done about it. Thanks for your answer in advance!

Cannot edit raw photo from Lightroom 5.5 in Photoshop CS 6 I have camera raw 8.5 installed.

Sorry for getting back to you this late but I figured out the problem was
not with Photoshop but with the file itself.  I created a new file file and
was able to edit it in Photoshop from Lightroom.  Thanks again for your
response to help resolve the problem.

  • I'm getting a message that my iCloud storage is almost full (5.0 GB, 186 mb remaining).  I have transferred all photos from iPad and iPhone to Mac.  I've deleted all but 200 photos on each of these devices.  Data storage is still same.

I have transferred all photos from iPad and iPhone to Mac.  I have deleted almost all photos from both (about 200 remaining on each).  I do not store tunes or videos.  After making these changes, I still have the same message in iCloud.

Go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage > Select your device (listed as 'This iPhone' or 'This iPad') then look at the next backup size.  Compare the 'Next Backup Size' to the 'Backup Size' on taht same screen.  If the next backup size is smaller, then you have successfully removed some content from your device.
Now the question still lingers as to why your iCloud is still showing so full right?  Well, iCloud keeps the last 3 backups from each device.  It doesn't duplicate them, but it uses an incremental backup system.  So basically your device's backup will take up as much space on iCloud as the largest backup of the last 3 backups.  With that being said, your iPhone and ipad will eventually shrink the size of your backup (if that next backup size is smaller) in about 3 days (3 backups assuming your iOS devices backup once as day when you are sleeping).
Can I expedite this?  Well of course you can.  If you want, you can Delete the backup from both of the devices via that same screen then go back to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, turn iCloud Backups back on, then backup now.  Keep in mind that if you do this, it will clear out your last 3 backups (and cannot be undone), but it may also take a long while for your iPhone and iPad to complete that inital backup after deleting the old backups.
I hope this helps. (My Recommendation: Basically check what's in paragraph one, then it will works itself out in a few days.)

  • IPhoto no longer impots RAW photos from my Nikon D80

Recently I had to archive and re-install OSX 10.4 because of a DVD read problem. Following a successful reload which included the combo updater to 10.4.8 and all software updates my iPhoto 6.0.5 version has stopped importing RAW photos from my Nikon D80 camera. Prior to the Archive and re-install, sometime in December I downloaded the software update -"DigitalCameraRAWUniv200601" this enabled iPhoto to work with my camera. I assume this update has somehow become separated from iPhoto, when I tried to reload the update it tells me it is already installed on my computer. Can anyone tell me how to uninstall it and then reload the update in order to re-establish conformity with my D80 camera.

    louvic
re-installing the app will not affect your library or your photos. These are stored at Home/Pictures/iPhoto Library Folder. Of course, you should always have a back up anyway.
To re-install the app, trash the iPhoto in your Applications folder. Then go to HD/Library/Receipts and trash any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
Then you can re-install. When you click on the installer on your iLIfe DVD there is an option to Custom Install. (look at the lower left of the Window). There you can select what to install and what to leave out.
I'm interested to see if this works. AFAIK the interaction with RAW is governed by the OS, not iPhoto - for instance Aperture would use the same technologies - hence my suggestion to re-apply the 10.4.8 update in my first post.
    Good Luck.
    Regards

  • I can't retrieve my photos from an ipod back up on to my new ipod

i can't retrieve my photos from an ipod back up on to my new ipod

Have the photos been taken with the iPad or have the photos been synced to the iPad Air? Photos synced with iTunes to iOS devices cannot be synced back. See this link:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
If the photos have been synced to the iPad Air, you need an external app as JimHDK recommended. Or mail the photos, which will be tedious. To delete them from the iPad after transferring them, sync again with iTunes, but select no folders to sync.
If the photos have been taken with the iPad Camera, you can connect the iPad Air to your Mac using a USB cable and then to launch Image Capture or iPhoto to transfer the photos. But that will not transfer synced photos.

  • Send a raw photo from lightroom to photoshop as a smart "object"

how to send a raw photo from lightroom to photoshop as a smart "object" not a flat "image" so it does not flatten the image but so I still get all the adjustments i have made in lightroom to show up in photoshop?

Select the image in Lightroom, choose 'Edit in' from Photo menu then choose 'Open as Smart Object in Photoshop'. The file will transfer to Photohop (Ps) complete with Lr applied edits which can be refined in Camera Raw by double clicking on icon in the Ps Layers panel (see screen shot).

  • For reasons best left unsaid, in a recent rebuild of my iMac andTime Capsule, I lost all my photos. I do however currently have them on my iPad. Is it possible to retrieve all my photos from the iPad back to iPhotos (now Photos) on my iMac?

For reasons best left unsaid, in a recent rebuild of my iMac and Time Capsule, I lost all my photos. I do however have them all currently on my iPad. Is it possible to retrieve my photos from the iPad back to iPhotos (now Photos) on my iMac?

have the photos on the iPad been taken with the iPad camera or imported using the camera connection kit?
Or have they been synced to the iPad with iTunes?
You can download any photos to your mac by connecting the iPad by USB to to your Mac and import to Phots, but this way only photos from the Camera Roll will be imported.  If your photos have been synced with iTunes, you can only mail them to your mac.
See:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures taken by your device, or saved to it, from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device, email the photos from the device to yourself. Then download the photos from the emails to your computer.

  • How could I Import RAW  photos from sony A300 into Lightroom 1.4.1?

How could I Import RAW photos from sony A300 into Lightroom 1.4.1?
RAW photos files in sony A300 are saved as "*.arw".
    any one can help?

This is well known bug. One day Adobe will recognise that with the best live view system (A350/300) and best usability (A700) they need to take the Sony DSLR's seriously.
Use the Import function, but use "choose files". Your CF card (in Camera or reader) will just be another drive. Navigate down to the folder with the pictures - control+A, choose selected. Then choose copy to new location and import (safer than using move).
Don't forget to tick the backup box.
    Hope this helps. Peter
