Transferring ringtones from a 3GS to iphone 4

I got an iphone 4 today, I was able to transfer most of my data from my 3GS to the 4, however i can not get my ringtones. there is no option for ringtones when the 4 is plugged in but when i plug in the 3 they are still there. someone plz help! its becoming extremely frustrating!!!  thank you

Not sure what you mean by there is no option for ringtones when your iPhone is plugged in.
The various tabs for your iPhone 4 sync preferences with iTunes are the same as the various tabs for your iPhone 3GS sync preferences with iTunes. This does not change and is not contingent on the iPhone model. There is a ringtones tab for your iPhone 4 sync preferences with iTunes which is where ringtones available in your iTunes library are selected to be transferred to the iPhone.

I downloaded a Ringtone from iTunes into my iPhone 6 and set it as the default Ringtone.Worked well until I had to recharge my phone. The Ringtone has now disappeared from my iPhone and I'm left with just the Ringtones that come standard with iPhone 6. I sync'd my phone and it shows in the Tones folder. How do I get the Ringtone back as a default Ringtone in my iPhone 6. Quite frustrating!!

In iTunes, try signing out of your Apple ID & then back in: click on iTunes Store on the left sidebar of iTunes, click on your Apple ID on the top right, sign out, sign back in.  Then try to sync your purchased music to your phone again.

  • How do I stop itunes from transferring apps from my ipad or iphone to my pc ?

How do I stop iTunes from transferring apps from my iPad or iPhone to my PC ? I have App sync turn off and I have add files to library turned off. Yet every time
I sync iTunes transfers all my apps to my PC. I have 20-30 gig of apps on each. A lot of them are 1gig each and it takes for ever to sync , plus I don't want 100 gig of apps just sitting on my hard drive for no reason. Any app I ever want is always available in the cloud so what's the point of having them on my PC in the 1st place?

I'm pretty sure that the space is used up on your computer's hardrive.
Anyway my solution to this nuisance of apps/itunes transfer was to allow itunes to download the apps from my phone...
...First of all I had tried to uncheck a few boxes in itunes a) automatically sync when device is connected (in the summary section) b) prevent devices from syncing (edit>preferences>devices) and c) Automatically sync new apps (apps section of device)
HOWEVER, when I would click sync in any section, apps tried to transfer to itunes from my iphone.
So after all my apps went on my computer (approx. 9 GB), I checked the boxes back, disconnected my device and deleted all the apps from itunes and my computer simultaneously (by clicking del/move to recycle bin).
Now when I connect my iphone it does it's backup/sync thing automatically ...but no apps try to transfer
Note: apps from your library cannot be set to sync with your device
I can now also click sync in any section and no apps transfer.
(This problem started when I downloaded an app from itunes rather than my device and I later transfered the app to my device. My apps section in itunes is completely empty now and no apps appear in windows explorer either)
the only thing I am unsure of now is; what's going to happen if I purchase an app from itunes on my pc again ...I'm guessing I'll have to repeat the process (might want to avoid that)

  • How to install downloaded ringtone from i-tunes on iphone 4

Can anhyone help me??? I downloaded a ringtone from i-tunes, but I cannot get it installed as a ringtone on my iphone 4....

If you purchased a ringtone with iTunes on your computer, under Library in the iTunes source list - the source list to the left of the main iTunes window where you select what is available in your iTunes library on your computer, select Ringtones.
Is this ringtone available in the main iTunes window with Ringtones selected under Library in the iTunes source list?
If so, with your iPhone connected to iTunes - available under Devices in the iTunes source list, select your iPhone under Devices in the iTunes source list to bring up the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes - for transferring select music, movies, tv shows, podcasts, 3rd party apps, and ringtones from your iTunes library to your iPhone.
Select the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. If this ringtone is available when selecting Ringtones under Library in the iTunes source list, it should be available under the Ringtones tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes.
If so, select Sync Ringtones with the option to transfer all ringtones in your iTunes library or select ringtones in your iTunes library. This must be followed by a sync with iTunes to transfer the ringtone to your iPhone to be selected as your iPhone's default ringtone or for a chosen contact only.

  • Can't drag and drop apps and ringtones from itunes into the iphone.

I'm sure it's something that I have to enable in itunes or the iphone, but I can't seem to drag and drop my apps or ringtones from itunes. This started when I got a replacement phone from my provider. I can't transfer them on my itunes. I get a block icon when I try to drag and drop. So the only way to get all the apps back is by re-downloading on the phone itself, but some apps are huge and I wouldn't want to do that. All the apps I backed up and even new ones I purchased can't seem to transfer. I tried deauthorizing and authorizing, re-downloading apps, syncing. So far nothing. Any tips?

Thanks for trying but your answer is incorrect, according to an email I received today from HP Connected:
"I have reviewed your email. I understand that you have questions related to rearranging the order of the apps on the printer. I know this can be frustrating, and I want you to know you're certainly valuable to us and I want to do everything possible to ensure your complete satisfaction. The following information should provide the answers you need:
    1) Unfortunately when HP launched the new website (www.hpconnected.com) they did not include a method of rearranging the apps on the printer. They may include this feature in a future update, however as this time it is not available.
    2) If you have made the upgrade from eprintcenter to HP Connected you do not have the option of returning. Eprintcenter is in the process of being eliminated and unfortunately retuning to the old site is not possible."
I hope <<S-O-O-N>> HP fixes this new website -- it's crazy to take away any controls like this from their customers and not either embellish them or at least leave them be.
I may take this 7610 OJ back for a new Brother 11x17 all-in-one --- they look nice )

  • I am unable to change my ringtone from default on my iphone 5 as well as the phone only vibrates and doesnt even play default ringtone.

Having just got iphone 5 through I have no end of problems trying to change the ringtone from default (marimba).  I also have the problem that the phone only vibrates and does not even ring.I have seen posts with solutions and tried them but to no avail.  Any ideas?

Thank you for your reply Lasina. The purchase was already verified by your
agents the day prior on my first call. They confirmed and noted that I paid
full price for the phone on that call. They  admitted a coding error on
Verizon part and ensured that it would be corrected in 24 hours which was
in time for the pre order. .. however it was not. That's why I called a
second time. Yet the second called said they needed to confirm, like the
first call never happened. Now I am not able to pre order the iphone I
wanted and will need to wait weeks for a backorder (whether I decide to
    stay with Verizon or not)
Thank you for your reply. What can be done at this point or what do I need
to do to get this cleared up. I can't afford to keep spending hours on the
phone and getting nowhere. Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jeff

  • I am trying to make a ringtone from my itunes on iphone 5 and ios7.  It says "this song cannot be used as a ringtone" on every song in itunes.  Any ideas?

I just upgraded to an iphone 5 and using ios 7.  I downloaded an app and trying to make a ringtone from my itunes but every song in itunes that I select it says, sorry, this song can't be used as a ringtone.  Anyone know why?

    Hey csumner1,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are receiving a "Not enough free space" alert when attempting to sync your new iPhone 4s. The following article may help to resolve your issue:
iOS: "Not enough free space" alert when trying to sync
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1503
    Resolution
Try disconnecting and reconnecting your device, then syncing again to solve this issue.
Orphaned files may remain on your iOS device if it is physically disconnected while syncing music, podcasts, videos, or photos. This can prevent iTunes from syncing the iOS device on subsequent sync sessions. When this happens, the Capacity indicator in iTunes may report a large amount of "Other" disk usage for the iOS device. To resolve this issue:
    1. Turn off the music or photo sync option in iTunes for the device.
    2. Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
    3. Turn the music and photo sync options for the device on again.
    4. Click Apply again to try to sync the device to iTunes.
              - If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 5.
    5. Turn off the automatic syncing functions for the iOS device. To do this:
              - Select the iOS device from the iTunes window and click the Summary tab.
              - Deselect "Automatically sync when this device is connected" and select the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checkbox.
              - Click Apply to sync the changes to the device.
              - Reduce the amount of data that is being synced to the device and resync the device. For example, if syncing your Music library exceeds the memory capacity of the device, choose "Selected playlists" to transfer rather than "All songs and playlists" under the Music tab in iTunes.
If the 'Not enough free space' alert appears, continue to step 6.
    6. Restore using iTunes.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Transferring ringtones from laptop to BB

I subscribed to MonsterTones to download ringtones. When accessing the link, the web site is blocked by my company's web policy. MonsterTones responded by saying I could download the link to my PC and then transfer. The file comes across as an .aspx file and the BB Media Manager won't accept the file. Am I trying to do the impossible? Interestingly enough MonsterTones advised me they wouldn't refund my money because "it wasn't their fault."  Great customer service. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

what MonsterTones says, is that you can download the ringtone to your PC, and then transfer the ringtone from your PC to your BB. A ringtone is usually a mp3 file (mp3) or a MID file (midi file). the aspx file is not a ringtone. It is the server program that sends you the ringtone. ASPX stands for ASP extension and ASP is like PHP, it's a programming language. Not a ringtone.
Using your desktop browser, you must find a way to buy the ringtone and download it onto your PC.

  • Transferring Ringtones from iPhone to New Library?

In a rather unfortunate series of events, I had to reinstall my operating system without warning enough to retrieve my iTunes library. I have all of my music from my iPhone 4 on my new iTunes library, but I am trying to figure out how to get my ringtones to it, so I can keep them. How can I go about this?

I finally figured it out. This should help for anyone else with my problem.
