Transferring shows to tape

I'm trying to transfer shows -- either live shows or DVR'd shows -- to a VCR so I can have a permanent recording. Page 25 of the Verizon On Line User Guide for the QIP 7216 box which I have shows a cable connection from the 7216 to the VCR but it doesn't work. (There's no signal being sent.) When I called tech support I was told this function is not available. WHY NOT? Why does the User Guide show the connection if this function isn't available? And if it is available, what do I need to do to get it to work?

All outputs on the box work. You can get a SD RF output on the coax connection. Make sure the tuner on the VCR is on 3.

Hey the stupid ones are those that don't ask and sit at home not getting the best out of their equipment.
Your cameras manual may help, otherwise look for an AV in or AV in/out connector. depending on your camera you may have to do different things. It may just work whatever you do, you may have to record to the mini DV tape and then transfer it to your mac in a separate operation or you may need to take the tape out altogether.
Sorry to be so vague, I transferred my VHS tapes to my mac years ago (just not got round to editing them all yet.

Transfering VHS-C tapes to FCE

I am transfering home movies from VHS-C tapes (the small tapes that are fatter than miniDV, that you have to place into a VHS tape adapter) into FCE 4.0. I have to use a VCR and am running that through a DV converter which runs into my external HD by means of firewire. I have easy setup set to DV converter box, but when I am done capturing, I get the error message that the audio might be out of synch due to inproper settings, that's not verbatim but the jests of the message. Since there is only one DV box setting, how do I get the correct setting?

The DV-NTSC DV Converter easy setup expects 48KHz audio. I suspect your converter box may be set for 32KHz audio - you should check it. BTW, what make/model is it?
First check Item Properties for one of the clip(s) you captured - what does it say for Aud rate?
If your clips really are 32KHz audio, you could try creating a new sequence, then before doing anything with it, click on the +sequence name+ in the FCE browser, select Settings, then click +Load Sequence Presets+ and select +DV-NTSC 32Khz.+ Then go ahead with your editing.
One other thing, you really should have the converter box connected directly to your Mac, no other Firewire device connected at the same time. With a daisychained setup, you may run into capture problems, and actually the audio sync message you got may have been caused by the daisychained devices.

Transferring movie to tape

I have just created the most basic kind of timeline, using iMovie 3.3, in order to have a NTSC worktape which will transferred to PAL format. The total length of the movie is about 30 minutes. Rather than using a camera to record the movie, I'm using a Sony DV deck. Around 10 minutes into the movie transfer the video began to briefly pause for a moment then resume. Around 20 minutes into the transfer it paused and did not resume, though the deck continued to record the frame on which the movie paused. Can anyone help me figure out why this happened, and what I need to do differently? It would be much appreciated.

There may be a more elegant solution and explanation, but if you just want to have a working tape, export your movie to QuickTime Full Quality. Save that, and then open a new iMovie project and import that new QT movie into it. It may take a while for all of this, but you will then have an exact copy of your movie in QT version. Export this movie to the tape. It should go well without any pausing or stopping.
I can't remember with v3 if you can do it this way, but it has worked for me in v4 and 5. I don't have 6.

ICloud taps doesn't show iphone taps

Started using Mountain Lion, the new safari has the funtion iCloud taps, after I play around with it, it only shows my other Mac's safari taps but not my iPhone safari taps at all, anyone know how to fix this?

New Deployments of 8.1 showing multiple TAP adapters

Hello,
I just installed 8.1 on about 20 computers with the Microsoft VLSC disc and joined them to the domain. after about 2 restarts I started noticing the TAP-Windows Adapters showing up out of no where (About 6 of them so far). the DC's are running 2012 with
all updates and do not have any TAP adapters showing up. Does anyone have any ideas why these could be showing up ?
Also, I did not install open VPN on these computers.

Regarding this issue, I noticed that the IP address is 169.254.151.175.
Th reason is that this pc cannot be obtained the IP address.
Please check your network first.
I think it is related to your network.For example:your switch ports,your DHCP driver,network policy and physical link.

the Ethernet card is getting an address and is online. each computer has one Ethernet card and all 20 of them are receiving a valid IP but these TAP adapters keep showing up out of no where.

Transfering Video 8 tape for editing in FCP

I'd like to bring some Video 8 tapes from a camcorder without a firewire port, into FCP to edit them. What should I have the footage converted into .... miniDV tape, Quicktime, DVD ??? Which will give the best results to work with?

That will work just fine. IN order for that to happen, someone has to capture them onto a Mac and then give you a disk fo the files. Nothing wrong with that at all.
What you need to consider:
a. Do you want a backup copy?
b. What will you play them on that you can hook up to your Macintosh?
c. What will you print them out to for release?

Transferring 8 mm tape to FCE

I have a Sony 8MM camcorder. I have tried to transfer those video to FCE. I have a USB Dazzler cable . I have tried a couple of he DV converter option on the set up but it still will not capture the images. I thought I could try imprting it to imovie but couldn't get that to work. Any sugesions?

If you just want to get it on your computer quickly you could try iMovie, but it may be at a loss of quality. i have a digital8 sony camera with firewire and it can import into imovie no problem but with no timecode and at lower video quality or it is a more timely process than usual in FCExpress sony makes this:

Transferring Betacam SP tapes to AVI files using Final Cut Pro?

What would be the most cost effective way to transfer Betacam SP tapes to AVI files?
I have a Betacam SP deck, Final Cut, and a Mac Pro.

Pretty much, yes.
As I noted above it will capture via FireWire to the DV codec as well as the other usual outputs.
If DV is good enough, go for it.

Transferring analog cassette tape to GarageBand 3

My daughter has a cassette tappe of gymnastics floor music and wants to put it into GarageBand so she can make a CD of it. Is there a good way to do this and what sort of cables would I need to do this?

Typewriter not showing unless tap on it

As mentioned on the title, because I am also a Foxit user to do annotation.
The typewriter will only appear on the Adobe reader on laptop version but not on the iPad'S version of Adobe reader.
KIndly look look into this.

The reason why this happened is because Foxit creates text annotations that contain PDF syntax errors.
Adobe Reader for iOS should be more "forgiving" of minor PDF syntax errors like this. I filed a bug report to resolve this problem in a future release of Adobe Reader for iOS.
You can avoid this problem by using the same app for adding and viewing annotations.

Tablet "Share" pod showing "Tap to view"

Hi,
On iPad and android tablets using the connect app, sometimes the content of the "Share" pod (an image) shows as "Tap to View" when changing layouts. It will sometimes load perfectly, other times not at all and just show the "Tap to view" message.
We are still in testing, on a relatively high spec stable connection, so I can't imagine that it is bandwidth related at the user end.

I have done that. Still cannot see that shared folder. I can create a test folder give it the same permissions and I can see that folder. I can delete the deployment shared folder, manually recreate the folder, share it, and then I can see it. However,
If I delete the deploymentshare folder I created manually, and let mdt 2013 create it, then I can not see it regardless if I share it. Strange

From video tapes to canon MVX350i to iMovie to DVD.... which cable?

We wish to transfer and edit our VHS tapes to a Canon MVX 350i, transfer it to iMovie and then burn DVDs.
We bought this Canon because we were told it would allow us to do as described. (Analogue Digital Converter).
However we do not have a cable to undertake this task... I believe it is a SCART in/out? Is this correct? What cable(s) do I need?
I don't mind paying for a decent cable and suggestions please?

I have a Canon 530i and have transferred many VHS tapes to DVD.
Youir Canon should have come with a cable with 3 RCS connectors and a 1/8" plug to connect to your camera. Canon has a socket for that purpose and it is marked "AV" and is yellow.
You need to set your camera to "AV to DV out" which is in the stup section. That allows your camera to do the conversion from anologue to digital without actually recording anything.
There is another socket in your camers and that is for firewire. You will need to buy a firewire connector that can connect to your camera and your computer.
If your Vidoe player has RCA connectors which I presume it does, then connect the cable to your outlet sockets (red, white and yellow) into the yellow AV input socket on your camera. Connect your Firewire to your Mac and bingo, you're set up.
When you start up iMovie, you will need to click on the camera icon next to the scissors. Turn your camers to 'play', turn on your video recorder to play and then you will get the picture on your screen. It should download about 9 minutes per clip and will continue until the film runs out or you run out of disk space.
I suggest you download about 3 or 4 nine minute clips, the stop the downloading and save it for editing.

ITunes freezes while transferring TV season from Apple TV back to computer

I bought a season of a show on the Apple TV and it downloaded the entire season fine. When I open up iTunes and it starts syncing, it indicates that the computer is transferring the shows from the Apple TV back to the computer, but then iTunes freezes in the middle. The Apple TV appears to be fine. I'm currently running Custom Sync as the option.
I'm running 2.4 ATV OS, the latest iTunes (8.2) on a Windows XP. Network is a Linksys 54G wireless router.
I've looked at some things and have tried reauthorizing, rebooting, etc. It's a pain because I have some new content that I want to get on the Apple TV, but it defaults to transferring shows back before adding new content from iTunes onto the AppleTV.
Any thoughts?

Thanks for the update, but that doesn't really help me since my computer (desktop) and my computer about about 50 feet from each other and I really have no desire to unplug either to sync. The reality is that this has been a problem with 2.4 since it was released a month and a half ago and there is no reason why Apple hasn't fixed it by now.
What this has led me to do is not download any shows to my AppleTV, I just buy them on my computer now and the downstream sync works fine.
