Transferring sound clips from 5800 to pc

Does anyone else have a problem with this? First it took me AGES to find where the sound clip was located, only to find it mixed in my music player with the other music. And then when i tried to transfer it through the Nokia Music software to the PC.. it says it was successful but i cant find it anywhere!

Try this:
1. Open My Computer from the desktop or Start menu.
2. From the Tools menu, choose Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders," make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
5. Click OK.
6. Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\
7. Right-click the SC Info folder shown and on the shortcut menu, choose Delete.
8. Restart the computer.
9. Open iTunes.
10. Authorize your computer to play your purchases. Note: If you have multiple accounts you will need to authorize your computer for each account.

  • Are the sound clips from Final Cut Pro Fair Use?, Are the sound clips from Final Cut Pro Fair Use?

I recently found YouTube had flaged a video for containing a "third party" sound clip.  All clips I've used in videos for YouTube have come directly from Final Cut Pro X.  Any idea if the sound clips are Fair Use?  I'm not sure how to repsond to YouTube and don't want to get a mark against my account due to this.

You can pretty much forget about monetizing that specific video.
[Okay... I'm going to ramble now...]
To avoid problems with youtube, you need to post a copyright (like this: @2013 by Your Name) on the video (I recommend within the first 10 seconds) -- and you better have it *right*. If you use other audio and video, as long as you have secured the proper permissions for use, you can still claim a copyright to the video you post on YouTube -- it is your creation (but it better not be a single clip of somebody else's work being passed off as something you did -- just to be clear -- your videos need to have original content that you created in order to justify the © you put on it. If you use *other stuff* as long as it's *with* permissions, it's still your video.) [If your video is going to be monetized -- make absolutely sure you have that permission for *commercial* use! Quite a lot of sources will specify that their materials *cannot* be used for any commercial use without further permissions, if at all. With Apple Loops (pro apps music and sound) you do have that express permission to be used in commercial works as long as it follows the EULA. More below.)]
You also need to specify the music and/or sound effects are "licensed from Apple Computer and used with permission" and you might as well state they are "made with Apple Loops". YouTube understands the EULA of the Apple Pro software (Logic, STP, FCP/FCPX, etc...) -- but even Apple licensed all that stuff from outside sources. Apple just takes care of paying "them" for it in advance so you don't have to (you buy it with the cost of the software license.)
You cannot use any of the "music beds" by themselves, in their entirety (all those nice long demo pieces everybody likes so much and you hear several times a day on [local] TV commercials). The EULA actually specifically states this (although you might have to read it two or three times until it becomes clear...LOL). Even loops are not to be released "as is", in their entirety, in any "derivative work". So, basically, make sure some other sound is mixed in with it (if it's music, add drums or other percussion, harmony, or duck it under talking, etc...)
The point is, no matter what audio source you have, if it is *music* (or foley) and EVEN IF you are the creator of that music or sound effect, you need to specifically put it in writing IN the video (not in the description). You need to reference the source (e.g.: stock footage by BottledVideo.com) and state it's being used with (or by) permission. [According to YouTube: I have copyright infringed MYSELF!!! just for leaving out all this *stuff* from my subsequent videos (music that I composed and performed myself on guitar... I was livid... but it stuck!).]
I can pretty much guarantee that within minutes of  posting your video (if it is monetized) -- some real live person at youtube puts eyes on that video to make sure it is properly "signed". I can tell by how long it takes for the monetize checkmark to go from dark to light green -- usually less than 10 minutes.
If your video is not monetized, and it's not a blatant violation, they probably will let you off with a warning, tell you that you don't need to do anything "right now" and it won't count as a mark against you... If it IS monetized, it won't be - they'll turn it right off and your chances of winning a challenge are almost 0 (unless you can PROVE you own the material -- and  I have won a challenge -- see * below);  and you will probably see a "Copyright Notices" (or similar) item in the menu on your channel settings. If you can redo the video - pull the old one, put in the new info and re-up it.  It's a royal PITA, but in this day and age, it's a necessity.
All videos destined for youtube should be treated as mini motion pictures and be prepared as such with full "disclosures" in titling... Welcome to  21st Century Pox [This statement is not meant to be derogatory to 21st Century Fox or imply any association or criticism or slander, and is only to be intended to be received as a parody on a common phrase that is currently still in use... No words were harmed in the formation of this pun.]
Get the point? YouTube tries to tell everybody -- but they've done a pretty lousy job of doing it. It's taken me, oh, I guess a year or so to learn to "behave" after wandering through a mire of confusing information from too many different sources -- and even if I am the sole producer of 100% of all the content in the video, I *still* have to place that © and "commit" it; it is *not* taken on faith.  I actually had to go back and reread all my licenses and interpret the legalese to figure it out. It would have been simpler if they just put it: Your video is a miniature professional production. Make sure it includes all titling to reflect all participants -- *just like you'd see in a modern major motion picture or a major broadcast television series* -- I think everyone would pretty much understand what that involves. You don't have to get quite that extreme, just cover you bases and your a©©.
I tried to cover it all... but I'm pretty sure I haven't... so... good luck!
*How I won my challenge with an Apple Loops composition:
    1) the music, even though using "canned" loops, was an original complex composition (I'll argue theory with anyone about this... it will be based on limited sets and recombinants as well as the theory of instrumentation and timing. In other words - I massage the heck out of loops until they don't sound anything like the originals. I almost never use audio loops -- always MIDI.) [BTW - this was another instance of copyright infringing myself - I had used the same music in a previous video I produced a year or so earlier... when I, like you, thought I was "free" to use the clips as I saw fit.]
    2) the music I used in the video was originally created in Logic and I made sure the ID3 tags were filled in with my name and copyright information
    3) I have a YouTube Associated Website (think this is a "partner" thing... and google "sanctioned") but if you see it, make sure you associate your domain. [I think you might be able to create a Google+ account and associate a domain that way if it's not part of your YouTube settings.]
    4) I uploaded the original mp3 with the ID3 tags to my associated domain.
    5) in the challenge, I 1) attached the original mp3 (w/ID3 tags); 2) gave youtube a link to the copy on my associated website for *verification* that the files belonged to ME; (and they already had the URL to the video in question -- a basic 3 point verify.)
It worked. They accepted the verifcation. (And this was the first challenge I've been able to win.) [This was very recent. What about the others? I might get a chance to complete the verifications, but I know for some, I've used up my challenges. The only other option is to pull them and redo them...]
One last word of advice: It does not pay to get "huffy", indignant, or righteous with YouTube in a challenge. They don't care.  <-- read that again a lot more slowly...  They have their own behinds to take care of — and your video (and/or account) lives (or dies) by their grace. If you read that and infer that I have been those things, then yes, I have... to absolutely no avail... even though I thought I was right (to the best understanding I had at the time) — they have rules. Be respectful. In general, they're pretty relaxed about all this even though it might not look that way to many users. Once you get the rules down, everything goes a lot easier... even if it is a little more work. You have to take responsibility for your own work.

  • PowerPoint sound clip from my iTunes library

I know this is a basic question, but I'm trying to insert a sound clip into a PowerPoint presentation. I want to use a song from my iTunes library, but I can't figure out how to do that without importing the song onto a CD. I'd rather not have to insert a CD every time I play my PowerPoint presentation.
How do I either pull directly from iTunes for my sound clip or save that clip to my desktop? I've been able to insert sound clips I already have on my desktop.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Transferring video clips from iPad

I transferred MP4 (MPEG-4) video clips from a GoPro camera to my 1st gen. iPad. Now I am trying to figure out how to transfer them to my PC so I can edit them. I can watch them on the iPad, but when I try to view them from my PC they do not show up (the still photos do). Apple has not been any help. Any ideas or recommended software?
The files are too big to email from the iPad.
    Thanks!

You could try whether apps such as Simple Photo & Video Transfer Lite (free app, there is also a paid version called Simple Transfer) work - they transfer via wifi, though I don't know whether they'll work for your clips.

  • Transitions steal sound/clips from other places

I am trying to add transitions, but they keep taking the sound from a previous clip. For example, if I used a fade out before, the second time I use it, it grabs the audio from the first one. How can I get rid of this?

    Hi Hoyani:
Try removing the transition, then highlight the clip by clicking on it, extract the audio and then re-add the transition.

  • Transition has picked up a sound clip from elsewhere!

I'm having a right mare with these
I have still not managed to fix the problem of only being able to use fade or wash (see previous post on this) So has anyone got any more suggestions?
And now, to top it off, there are five clips I want a transition between, and for some bizarre reason, this is what happens: Clip 1 - 2 transition is looping the audio from the end of clip 1, clip 2-3 transition has picked up some audio from clip 2, clip 3-4 transition has picked up audio from the middle of clip 1, and 4-5 has audio from another part of clip 1!
What is going on and how can I stop it? All my other transitions are unaffected... (except that some variety would be nice!)

Hi there! didn't realise you were in NZ too! We are newbies here and loving it! Anyway...
The project was (until last night) on the internal, with 20GB to spare, but I have now shifted it to the new external drive, and we did format it beforehand as Karsten told me to:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1080899&tstart=30
"after purchasing this firewire drive, step1 is: launch Disk Utility, choose drive, choose erase, choose MacOsExtended as 'format' for your drive from the drop-down menu.. now, your new drive is ready for usage with iM ..."
It was thanks to Karsten that I purchased an external drive - memory did get down to 7.5 GB at one point. As I said, I don't know when this lack of transition options materialised... it could have always been there for all I know as this is the first movie I have ever done.
    Any ideas of a fix?

  • Transferring video clips from to MacBook Pro?

Totally new to the Mac world...and trying to access some of my video clips that was stored on my pc (Sony vaio). I am not able to read these files and they are hugely important for my work. How do I transfer .wmv and .AVI or read or open such files? Hope somebody knows what I am talking about Thaaanks

    Hey QueenLioness,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! You can use codec components to extend QuickTime to import or play additional media formats (such as .wmv and .avi). You can read more about how to do so here:

  • No audio from clips from camera

I am using iMovie HD 6 and I have transferred my clips from cam corder. The problem I am having is that I am manually dragging video clips from my camera to iMovie and the clips go in except they have no audio. Any solutions to this problem would be great...

What kind of camcorder are we talking about? I suspect this isn't a tape based MiniDV type camera, right? And instead you are importing from some sort of DVD, Flash, or hard drive based camera? If so are the videos in MPEG format when you add them to iMovie?
QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, when you convert videos they sometimes only get the video and no sound since iMovie (really QuickTime) is not looking for the audio track within the video track and it gets lost.
Here is an article explaining it when you try to convert video to iPod format...
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302588
One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

  • Trouble getting clips from XDCAM EX1 SXS Reader into APProCS4

    Hi,
I am having troubles with importing clips from Sony SXS reader to my APPro CS4. I was wondering if anyone could please tell me what I should do to solve this problem.
I have transferred all clips from Sony SXS reader(INPUT Files: .XML/.MP4 format) to Output Files ((.MXF format = .MPEGHD format) using clip browser s/ware to the desktop. So it's in the harddrive. So then I tried to grab the files(with file extension .MPEGHD to the Project window of CS4. Then it says under "XML Files" that "File import failure and the file format not supported.
I hope u all will explain things like to a amature, as I am not familier with this type  of file conversion.
Ur help is much appreciated. Thx.
    Pushpa(e-Mail: [email protected])

Using Clip Browser, copy everything on the SxS or KxS card to the hard disk. In PR import the complete BPAV directory and disregard any error messages. Do not import individual files.

  • How can I stop sound track from being divided when adding clips to other tracks in PrE12?

    The situation:
I have a project with several minutes of video clips on the timeline (expert view) in "Video 1/Audio 1."  There is also music on the sound track (below the empty "Narration" track).
Any time I make an edit to the Video 1 track, PRE cuts the Sound Track.  (Note that this is not the Audio 1 track, it's the sound track which is two tracks away.)  If I insert a clip, the Sound Track is cut and left with a gap.  Same if I do a FreezeFrame insert.  This is bad enough (make ten insertions, have the Sound Track chopped into ten separate pieces), but it gets worse: when I try to slide the Sound Track pieces back together, the Video 1 clips will be moved around.
This appears to be a major bug but I'm hoping there is a simple way to deal with it.
Here's what the Manual (p.71) has to say about it (not much).
"When you insert a clip into the Expert view timeline, adjacent clips on all tracks shift to accommodate the new clip. By shifting all clips together, the audio and video of the existing clips remain in sync."
    * The question here is, adjacent to what?  The Sound Track is a continuous music clip of many minutes; it is alone on the Track, and there is nothing on the track above it (Narration track).  So it's not adjacent to anything, and yet it is being chopped up.
    The Manual continues:
"Sometimes, you don’t want all clips to shift with each insertion. For example, when you add background music that superimposes the entire movie, you don’t want clips to shift."
*They got that right, but they don't say anything about how to prevent it.
This next makes no sense at all:
"To shift specific clips togather, press the Alt key as you insert.  At a time, you can shift specific clips simultaneously on a maximum of two tracks.  These include the track receiving the insertion and the track containing the linked audio or video (if any). The affected tracks shift together, remaining aligned. The clips on other tracks are unaffected."
*There is no mention of how to specify what clips would be shifted, or not.
I'm not dealing with linked clips.  And they tell me how to shift clips (sort of) but nothing about how to stop clips from being cut up and shifted.  This all makes it very hard to create a coordinated product.
Any suggestions or solutions will be much appreciated.

    Thanks, ATR,
I wll try this--but I still am unclear on how to do what the Manual says is possible: select clips on another track that WILL be moved, if I so desire, so as to remain synched to the main Video track.
    UPDATE:
In the case of inserting Freeze Frame, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Put Video on Vid1 track
    2. Put Music on Sound Track
    3. Ran a few seconds of Vid
    4. Stopped Vid, selected Freeze Frame
    5. Held down Ctrl key while clicking "Insert in Movie"  also tried with holding down Alt key.
Result: a 3 second still was inserted int the Vid1 track.  A corresponding gap was created in the Sound Track.
    6. Slid the final part of the Sound Track to the left along the timeline to re-connect it to the next segment created by the above process.
Result: the video following the final Freeze Frame was pushed to the right end of  Video1 track.
    7. Slid the Sound Track all the way to the left.
Result: the entire Video 1 Track contents were pushed to the right and divided in pieces.
I documented each step with screen shots which I can send if you want them and if I can figure out how to do it.
    UPDATE #2
In the case of inserting a video clip to the Timeline, I just tried both Ctrl method and Alt method, and neither worked.
    1. Locate video in Project Assets
2a. R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), hold down Ctrl, click Insert to Timeline.
Result: Vid clip is inserted on Video 1 track, Sound Track is separated with a corresponding gap.
2b.  R click video in Project Assets (pull-down menu appears), push Alt
Result: pull-down menu disappears as soon as Alt is pushed down.
I can stil drag the Vid clip but it's one more manual step...I love shortcuts!!

  • Transferred a video from phone to macbook pro but sound is not working.

I transferred a video from my phone to my macbook pro. the transfer was successful but the sound is not working on the computer, totally mute. the video is playing on quicktime player. the computer sound is on. the video was working fine on the phone and when i transferred the video, if this makes any difference or anything, the phone's media volume was on full.
I very much appreciate the help and feed back, thank you!

I have this same issue and have been struggling with it for a while.  I really just need to get it into Apple Store to be fixed most likely - but avoiding the hassle and time needed to do so.
    Things I've come across:
Something inside of the headphone jack is not right, such that it randomly thinks headphones or some other type of optical audio device are plugged in.  you will see a red light inside the jack occasionally when it happens.
You might try doing PRAM and/or SMC reset ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 )

  • Trying to use Imovie to create a movie using a Mac OSX 10.6.7, 3.2 g Intel core. Using clips from my Sony CRX 150 and need to remove sound in order to add music to the movie. HEELLLP!

OK, I 'm attempting my first movie here using this Mac OSX Snow Leopard with IMovie. I have clips I created from an 8mm Movie projector copied on my Sony CRX 150 and the sound of the projector is all over these clips and I have no idea how to remove that before adding music. So far this has been great and this is my first bump in the road. Also I notice tho, that the icon for my camcorder has disappeared from the desktop and looks like I'm gonna have trouble "ejecting" it in order to shut things down!!!  HELLLLP!

Thanks. I tested it out and you were correct. I loaded 2 .dv movies from my external HD back onto my internal HD, and got them re-imported into iMovie, took a few short clips from each of the 2 iMovie events and pasted them into a new project in the Project Browser. Then I deleted these 2  "source clips" from my internal HD, closed iMovie and then re-opened it and found that iMovie would NOT export the smaller clips for a "highlights" .4mv movie without the "source clips" being available.
I read your link on Quicktime. It talks about mostly trimming, which is what I did with each iMovie event before I took each one as a project to export as a smaller .4mv file. But if I use Quicktime (do I need QT Pro or basic), what advantage is it to me to use QT over iMovie (I must admit I am a novice at iMovie and have never used QT or QT Pro as a tool)? Will it then convert any edits I make to a .m4v movie or do I need iMovie to do that?
Does QT allow trimming multiple segments out of a movie during one edit session, or can you only do 1 at a time? By that I mean that, for example, when I use Sonys Picture Motion Browser for my .mts movies, you can only set one Start and one End point for each edit/trim you do: it does not allow you to set multiple Start Stop points like iMovie allows in its Event or Project browser. You can only do one "trim" at a time, save it and then reopen to do another trim. not very useful.
