Transferring the Phantom BOM as PPM in APO.

Hi,
We want to transfer a Finished goods BOM with Phantom item to APO as PPM. Can anyone suggest the steps required for the same. We already tried to transfer, instead of Components, Phantom item is getting transfered and getting assigned to different operation in PPM.
Thanks in advance.

SP

Hi,
Please refer to OSS note 448085 PPM Transfer Tips and Tricks
It clarifies that during CIF transfer Components that have the phantom item indicator are not transferred.

  • How can I send multiple subcon PPMs to APO since one PV must be in the PIR?

We often have two or three production versions for a single subcontracting material. For example, PV 01-1 from now until June, then PV 02-1 from June until November. To create the PPM in APO via CFM1/CFM2 we must have one PV in the subcontracing PIR. This means we can only send the currently active PV 01-1 to APO and we can not plan with 02-1 in the future! I know I can manually create this in APO or I can temporarily change the PIR, send the PPM, and then change the PIR back but I would like an automatic process for this.
Why can't I leave the PV blank in the PIR and that would mean to send ALL PPMs? This is essentially how R/3 planning works... if you leave the PV blank in the PIR it will automatically choose the PV with the correct date ranges.
I'm sure many people have had this issue but SAP offers no solution. Does anyone know of a user exit or have any ideas on how to resolve this?
    Thanks,
    Eric Strehlow

    Hi Vinodkumar,
You have desribed the way that I run my process. However, for subcontracting we must also put the PV into the PIR or the PPM creation will have no link from PV to Vendor and therefore it will not create a PPM.
In R/3 planning, we leave the PV blank in the PIR so the system will automatically choose the correct PV based on the validity dates. I would like to leave the PV blank in the PIR and have APO create PPMs for all Vendors that this material is extended to for each PV. But as far as I know this is not possible. Then APO planning can choose the correct PPM based on validity dates.
    Thanks,

  • How will create the DP BOM in APO?

    Hi,
Could any body tell how to create the DP BOM (Bill of material in Data Processing)in APO?
    Early reply is highely appriciable.
    Thanks&Regards,
    chow.

    Hi,
    Go to the T.Code : /SAPAPO/MC62 (Creation of CVC's).
Note : the Planning Object Structure that you use should be DP BOM Enabled.
Click on the button Create Combination and then click on the Back button. (you do not need to create a combination here)
now you should see any extra button which says "Generate DP BOM'.
Click on that and provide necessary details and create.

  • How to transfer Sales BOM from ECC to APO DP

    Hi,
Demand planning require Sales BOM from ECC. Sales BOM in ECC will not have Routing & Work center, then how a PPM with Sales BOM can be transferred.  If i have to create a dummy routing & WC for those sales BOM it will be tidious job to create all the master data. Is there any way to transfer the BOM alone from ECC to APO.
Please throw some light on it.
    Thanks & Regards
    Shan

    Hi Somnath / Ritesh,
Are you sure about ciffing Sales BOM(usage 5)to APO as PDS ? Did you test it or your comments are based on SAP documentation?
I tried to CIF Sales BOM as SNP PDS, it is creating PDS with only parent item.Child items are missing.I have not used any production version here.
If i use production BOM(usage 1), it is creating PDS with both parent and child items.I have not used any production version here also.
SAP says BOMs can be ciffed to APO as PDS. No productions versions are required. but it has not mentioned about BOM's usage. May be , Is it by default production BOM?
One more question, Is it possible to create production version with BOM usage 5? It has no meaning right..
I think system does not allow you to create production version with BOM usage 5.
I also tried with BOM usage 2. In this case also it behaves like sales BOM.
looks like only production BOM can be ciffed with proper BOM structure in APO.
if required i can send you the link to share screen shots.
    Pls comment..

  • SNP Planned order - Doesnt get the complete BOM when CIFd to ECC

    Hello,
When we create SNP Planned order in APO and sent to ECC, the Planned order doesn’t get the complete BOM, it works for the most part, except if we have Materials from multiple plants within the same BOM (sourcing from multiple plants).
Do we have to do any separate Configuration for this scenario?
We are planning only the End item in SNP, and we are generating the production version and PDS transfer to APO. We are not transferring all the materials to APO.
if we go to the Change mode of the Planned order in ECC and re-explode the BOM, I get all the components from the BOM, its just that when the planned order gets created thru the CIF we have this issue.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Gk

    Hello Marius
Thank you for your quick response.
I looked at the SAP note you mentioned, the description seems to be matching with the issue we are having. Recently we had SNC implemented, and the note states that that can be the case why the components are getting deleted during planned order creation.
The only thing about this note is its very old, and we are having the SAP 6.0 and SCM 7.2 ,
Do you think this would be still applicable.
I will look into the details and let you know whether the note is applicable for us.

  • Unable to View low level items for Phantom Assembly - Order created in APO

    Hi All,
I am unable to view the sub items when I create planned orders in APO and production orders in ECC. But when the order for the same material is created in ECC, I can see all the sub items. I see that this issue is only for Phantom Assemblies.
And I cannot say that all the items in the Phantom do not appear, actually some of them do appear in BOM explosion.
    For example:
Pld Ord is created for A in APO
Prd Ord for A is created in ECC
    A has B, C and F as requirements
    and  B is phantom
    B has D and F as requirements
    Then my BOM explosion shows
    ..1 B
    ..2 D
    ..1 C
    ..2 D
    ..2 E
..1 F (This only gives the quantity required to make A)
But it should also list how much of F (..2 F) is required to make B.
Where as it comes up in ECC.
Do I need to change the material settings for Phantom or is it just the UOM that is creating an issue?

  • PPMs in APO

    Hi,
I have a basic question with regard to PPM.I have 2 workcenters A and B in which i can process the same product. Following are the possibilities in R/3 and APO.
    1. I have defined workcenter B as alternative  to A using classification system. I have defined the Routing in R/3  with workcenter A and transferred to this APO. Now i have PPM for this material with two modes A and B.
    2. I defined the Routing with Workcenter A and maintained alternative sequence with work center B.When i transfer this Routing to APO, system creates a PPM  with alternative modes A and B.
    3. I have defined Routing with two group counters with different base quantities. one group counter with  with workcenter A and another group counter with workcenter B . When i transfer these (these are two production versions), it creates 2 PPMs in APO.
What is the difference between 3 and above(1&2).
When we run the MRP Heuristics in PPDS with finite planning, system will check the alternative resources also,if the primary resouce is not having capacity. Similarly  the system  should check alternative PPM2(resource B) also if PPM1 (Resource A)has no capacity.
I believe we define 3rd case if the processing of the base qty ( and if lot sizes also different) is different in different work centers. That is 200,000Kgs qty can me machined in 24 hours in Workcenter A and 350,000Kgs qty can be processed in work center B. Is it correct?
    Please comment.
    Thanks
    Aktar

    Hi,
In step 1 and 2 you created alternative resource. And in step 3 you created alternate routing / recipe.
If you are using both SNP and PPDS then creating alternate resource helps as PPDS can change the resource after SNP in PPDS optimizer run.
But if you use alternate recipe then you wont be able to change resource in PPDS as SNP will decide which recipe to choose and subsequently PPDS will follow it.

  • Dummy ppm in apo

    Hi,
I am trying to create a dummy ppm so the planner can see in proudct planning table, product view periodic, for the given art. a  "dummy line" and its able to create planned orders. But the planner should not be able to convert the planned order into a production one.
I tried to add a dummy ppm to an existing ppm but the dummy ppm gets automatically the ppm nr as a normal ppm.
and we are stll able to convert planned orders to prod ones in ppt.
I thought also about creating a prouction version in r3, transfer it to apo, and then delete the prod version in r/3 but not in apo.
this solution brings the disadvantage that the apo orders are then not transferred to r3 and hence no secondary demand will be created for the components in r3, only in apo. which leads to a difference in stocks in r3 and apo and we have then plenty of hanging orders in cif postprocessing
Has someone any idea how I could solve this?
    Wojciech

    Hi Sofie,
One basic thing you can do is doing consistency check on integration model (in CFM1) when it is created.
In case of PDS this consistency check is defunct.  It mostly does not check anything.
This will indicate errors like 'resource not available in APO'.
    Few things you can ensure:
Resource should be available in APO
There should be some timing in the routing. (if the control key is scheduling relevent).

  • Pull list for the component of the phantom assembly

    Hi
I am in rem process. while doing the pull list for the fianl product using Entry with bom explosion.
i did not get the components (level 3)for 1 assembly(level 2 ) which is phantom one under the final product (level 1) BOM.
i also maintained the production stor loc for the components and the phantom assmy.
i check the stock in the production storage location . no stock is there in the location.
what is the problem . how to get the component of the phantom in the pull list.

    Dear Raj,
If your FERT contains a HALB and inturn this HALB contains say HALB1 which is a phantom assembly
and and another 2 raw materials means, when you execute MF60 For HALB,you will get the 2 raw
materials along with the component's of phantom assembly.
    Check and revert back.

  • Deleting PPMs from APO

    Hi all -
Whats the best way to clear the obsolete PPMs from APO? Can it be done only through BAPIs/program/manually as suggested in some earlier posts?
Is there anyway we can make the system remove the obsolete ppms from APO?
Currently we just lock the PVs in R/3 and they change to inactive in APO and thats fine. At this point no matter what I do, since the valid from/to date is in the past, the system obviosuly does not even read them.
How do we get rid of old ppms from APO?  Appreciate all your help!
    Varun

Thanks for the reply. So, is there no way to set an indicator on PV or on the R/3 side so that the CIF master data update job of PPM deletes it from APO?
    Thanks for your answers

  • Phantom BOM

    Hi Experts,
I have a semi-finished item which I do not want to produce to the inventory. Its just an intermediate product. This particular item is used in many different finished goods. Can I set it up as a phantom BOM so that it will help me to have easier control in planning. Will it eliminate the extra effort of having to confirm the semi-finished item before the finished item? Please also tell me the other implications of Phantom item.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Dear Sachin,
    Phantom Assembly:
    A logical grouping of materials.
A phantom assembly is created in engineering to describe a number of components and manage them
as a whole. The components in a phantom assembly are immediately placed in the superior assembly.
Components in an assembly are first assembled to produce the header material. Then header material
is placed in the superior assembly.
    Example
The phantom assembly "set of wheels" contains the components "front wheel" and "rear wheel." The front and rear wheels
are immediately placed in the "bicycle" assembly. The "light" assembly contains the materials "bulb" and "reflector." The light
components are first assembled and then the light is attached to the bicycle.
    Settings to be done:
1.For configurations settings goto OPPQ for maintaining the values of special.key
2.Special procurement key value 50 must be set in the MRP2 view of the material master.
3.For the materials for which sp.procurement value 50 is set the system creates the planned orders and
purchase requisitions for the components of the phantom assembly.
4.Stock will not be exist at phantom assembly level which means confirmations will not be made at phantom assembly level.
    Check and revert back.

  • PHANTOM BOM - HELP REQD.

    Hi GURUS /EXPERTS,
Please tell me the STEPS & T-Code for creating a Phantom BOM.
    With Thanks.
    DSC

    Dear,
We have phantom assemblies defined in BOM's,with phantom indicator columnm flagged.
In this Bom Explosion With Phantom Assemblies:
    1. You need to maintain the special procurement key for the phantom Assembly
in the MRP 2 View of the material master
    2. If a Bom item is a phantom assembly , the dependent reqmts of the higher
level assembly are directly passed to the components of the phantom
    assembly skipping the phantom assembly.
    3. Planned orders/ Purchase requisitions are created for the components of the
    phantom assembly.
    4. We can override the Phantom Assembly Setting by defining in SPRO --->
Define Explosion Types so that MRP Creates Procurement Propasals for the
    Phantom Assembly itself.
ie We can Swith off the Phantom Assembly Settings.
This settting need to be defined in the BOM Item details screen in the Basic
Data Tab Page under MRP Area.
So check in your Bom whether switch off phantom assembly is defined.
    Thank you.
    Naveen.

  • BAPI_ROUTING_CREATE problems with component  allocation of phantom BOMs

I try to create a routing via the BAPI_ROUTING_CREATE and all works fine until I try to do component allocations for phantom BOM lines in the next level.
In my simple BOM I have the following structure:
    00004465 (ROOT BOM)
    +
    +---Phantom_BOM_B (BOM 00004466)
        +
        +---Material_X
    +---Material_Y
I only can allocation Material Y and BOM_B but I am not able to allocate the material X instead of the BOM_B, in that case I always get the message "The component to be assigned has not been completely specified".
    My COMPONENTALLOCATION Table Code:
    T_COM-SEQUENCE_NO = '000000'.
    T_COM-OPERATION_ID = '0010'.
    T_COM-BOM_TYPE = 'M'.
    T_COM-BOM_NO = '00004466'.
    T_COM-ALTERNATIVE_BOM = '01'.
    T_COM-ITEM_ID = '00000001'.
    T_COM-ITEM_NO = '0010'.
    T_COM-BACKFLUSH = 'X'.
    T_COM-PLANT = '1000'.
    T_COM-MATERIAL = ''.
    T_COM-BOM_TYPE_ROOT = 'M'.
    T_COM-BOM_NO_ROOT = '00004465'.
    T_COM-ALTERNATIVE_BOM_ROOT = '01'.
    *T_COM-PATH = '000001'.
I hope some can help me to find me, a solution to solve my problem.
    Thanks
    Jörg

    Dear ,
Phantom BOM means which you want to plan interm of Operation Hrs and Issue Componenets but not intereted to Physically Store  rather re-ssiue it to Main FG .
Now ,from your requirement it s clear that BOM : 00004465(ROOT BOM) is for your FG (Let Say A) BOM :  00004466 is  a SFG (Let say B) as Root BOM component  , which is In House produced .
Bascically , If you do not want to *Store B( Phantom BOM) *  but want plan the depedent of B ( X, Y , Z  etc )  along with A's dependent and also cost of B ( Phantom BOM )   , then the routing hrs /component along will be issued directly  to  A( Root BOM)  ,
So you do not need to create Routing for Phatom BOM and also no componenet alocation required . Better ,  you can add that routing operation hrs to main routing of the FG .
    Hope this is clear
    regards

My case is a little bit complicated:
I had an iPhone, which was backed up with a Windows XP computer.
Then I bought a MacBook Pro, and I transferred the iPhone backup file to the MacBook Pro's corresponding location.
Then I bought a new iPhone, and I plugged the new phone into the MCBK pro.
But iTunes does not tell me how I can restore the new iPhone 4S with the old backup file.
    What can I do?
    Thank you!

If the backup is not listed is Settings>iCloud>Storage and Backup>Manage Storage then no other backups exist.

You can redownload most iTunes purchases directly to the iPod by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise you will have to sync from your iTunes library.
