Transferring videos from iPhone 4 to MacBook Pro

I need help!!!  I regularly import my photos/videos from my iphone 4 onto my macbook pro.  I do it through iPhoto, and then export the files onto the hard drive so that I can save in multiple places (hard drive, USB, etc.)  Going thru everything today, I realized that none of my video files (.mov) play from my hard drive!!  These are precious videos of my 3 kids that I hoped to keep forever and I'm afraid it's all lost as I've already deleted them off my phone after every import to the macbook!  Someone please help!!!
Am I doing this the wrong way? Is there another way to transfer video files from my phone to macbook and have them still play normally?

Ok I can try that for next time...but is there any way I can get my other files to work properly? They play fine in iPhoto but I'd like to be able to save them to a USB drive.

  • Transferring music from iPhone to MacBook Pro

I  just bought a new macbook pro and went to transfer my music from my iPhone to the new iTunes, and only half transferred. The other half are in the iTunes music section but are not highlighted. Help?

The iphone is not a backup device.
The music sync is one way - computer to iphone.  The only exception is itunes purchases:  File>Transfer Purchases.
Copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Transfer MMS-Videos from iPhone to macbook pro

    Hello Together,
does anyone know if it's possible to transfer videos, revieved over mms to the computer? How does it work?
    Thanks for your help!
    Greetz,
    Mark

    I have same question.
3GS. Up to date software. Not jailbroken.
I receive MMS videos from friends (who do not have iphone), and while I can play them and "tap to save" to photo roll (and play them from there also), they are not showing up in iphoto when I connect my iphone. Although videos I take DO show up. Image Capture is the same. It is like my macbook thinks the video doesn't exist.
I ended up emailing the MMS Video to myself (so I could save it) and it is a .3gp video file. It played fine from my email to myself (and I can import it from my email to iphoto and it recognizes it and plays it in quicktime). But would this video filetype prevent it from being recognized by iphoto? It recognizes everything else in my photo roll and can import photos and other videos (ones I took) just fine.
    Thoughts?

  • Need Help Transfering Video From HV20 to Macbook Pro

I've lloked everywhere and I can't find the process to transfer my video from my HV20 to my Macbook Pro.
Can some one please point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance.

Do you have the necessary firewire cable? USB will not capture your video to your Mac. With that, it's a simple matter of hooking the cam up to the Mac, with cam off, Mac on. Open iMovie and have your cam set on playback. Then turn on the cam and your Mac should present you with the import button.

  • Transferring video from Ipad2 to Macbook Pro

Hello,  let me first explain my situation before getting into my question.  I work for a school that has recently purchased ipads for the classrooms as well as macbook pros.  I'm attempting to transfer video take from an ipad2 on to one of the macbooks and have been unable to.  I've used iPhoto, as suggested by several treads.  When I plug the Ipad into the macbook, iPhoto recognizes the Ipad, but shows the ipad as having zero photos or videos to import.  I'm I missing something?  Is there another way to get the videos over to the macbook?
    Thanks

Generally speaking, you can only import Videos that are in the camera roll album in the photos app on the iPad using iPhoto. Is this video in the camera roll?
It sounds like it is if you took the video with the iPad camera. Try starting all over again, quit iPhoto, restart the Mac and restart the iPad. It might not hurt to quit the photos app completely either before you restart the iPad. Double tap the home button, find the Photos app icon, tap and hold down until it wiggles, tap the red minus sign to quit the app. Tap the home button and then restart.
BTW ... Have you tried Image Capture on the Mac?

  • Transfering videos from Iphone 4 to laptop, the video is rotateed 90 degrees

After transferring videos from Iphone to laptop, Why would the video be rotated 90 degrees?

IIRC, the iPhone is configured that "normal orientation" for video recording is horizontal with the home button on the right.  If you are holding it in a different orientation, then that would be encoded in the EXIF data on the recirded video file.  Now if that file is edited and that EXIF data is removed or altered, then you could see what you are seeing.  It is also possible that the player yo uare playing the videos back in does not properly support the EXIF data embedded in the videos, which would have the same results.  When I record video on my iPhone 5, the playback on my Mac works properly.

  • I transferred video from iPhone (4S) to iPhoto and then to iMovie9.  Footage in iMovie is stretched.  Is there a way to fix that?

I transferred video from iPhone (4S) to iPhoto and then dropped that footage into iMovie9.  The footage is there in iMovie but it is stretched.  I have tried to adjust using aspect ratio options but that doesn't work.  Is there a way to fix that in iMovie (or at any other point in the process)?

It shouldn't be this way.  Did you shoot the video in portrait or landscape mode?  Many people shoot in portrait mode because they typically hold the phone upright.  This is really shouldn't happen if the videos are shot in landscape mode.

  • How do i transferring video from iphone to mac

how do i transferring video from iphone to mac, i synced it but nothing shows up

I don't believe OS X has the ability to receive AirPlay (which is what you're using).  There's some advice on the matter on the Wikipedia page, though:

Scroll down to "Third-party software implementations".

  • HT204144 File transfer using Airdrop from iphone to Macbook Pro

File transfer using airdrop form Macbook Pro to iphone is working...but from iphone to Macbook Pro is not working, Why?

    Hi Brok25;
Thanks for the question.  The resource below explains the specs and settings that are needed for AirDrop.  Check the settings and look to see if your MacBook Pro is listed.
Mac Basics: AirDrop lets you send files from your Mac to nearby Macs and iOS devices - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203106
Sending files to and from an older Mac
If a Mac you're using with AirDrop was manufactured before 2012, you can send and receive files with other Mac computers.
On the sending Mac, click "Don't see who you're looking for" in the AirDrop window.
Select the option to "Search for an Older Mac."
On the receiving Mac, open a new Finder window and click AirDrop in the sidebar.
    Tips for sending files
Make sure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled on your Mac and your iOS device. Although you don't have to connect to a specific network, Wi-Fi needs to be on to send and receive files using AirDrop.
Move your devices closer together. AirDrop is designed to work within a range of approximately 30 feet (9 meters). If you need to send a file to someone farther away, consider using File Sharing, iCloud, or email instead.
If you're using a firewall on your Mac, you won't be able to receive AirDrop files if you have enabled "Block all incoming connections" in the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences.
Make sure your devices meet system requirements for AirDrop.
    System Requirements
To see if your Mac works with AirDrop, make sure you’re in the Finder by clicking the desktop (the background area of your screen), or by clicking the Finder icon in the Dock. Then, check to see if AirDrop is listed as an option in the Go menu. If you don't see AirDrop listed, your Mac doesn't support this feature.
In order to transfer files between a Mac and and an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch
your iOS device needs to include a lightning connector
your iOS device needs iOS 7 or later installed
your Mac needs to be a 2012 or later model with OS X Yosemite installed
Your Mac and iOS device both need bluetooth and Wi-Fi turned on. You do not have to be connected to a specific Wi-Fi network.
To transfer files between two Mac computers, you need the Mac models listed below with Wi-Fi turned on and OS X Lion or later installed.
MacBook Pro (Late 2008 or newer)*
MacBook Air (Late 2010 or newer)
    MacBook (Late 2008 or newer)*
    iMac (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Mini (Mid 2010 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2009 with AirPort Extreme card, or Mid 2010)
*The MacBook Pro (17-Inch Late 2008) and the white MacBook (Late 2008) do not support AirDrop.
For help identifying your Mac, choose About This Mac from the Apple menu. You can refer to the Apple Support website to find out if your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch includes a lightning connector.
    Cheers,
    - Judy

  • Transfer video from ipad2 to macbook pro?

Is there a way to transfer video from ipad2 to macbook pro?  I took some videos and would like to transfer it so I can edit it on imovie.  I'm surprised that iphoto doesn't recognize videos to transfer from ipad2 to macbook pro.   It seems like it only does it for photos.   Videos should be included.

    Sunflower5-
Reading your question, I made a short video on my iPad 2.  It showed up in the Photos camera roll.
Running iPhoto and connecting the iPad to my Mac Pro, I selected the iPad under DEVICES.  The video was at the end of the photos, I selected it and clicked on "Import Selected".  I then dragged the imported video to my desktop and it played in QuickTime Player when I double-clicked it.
Then I tried it with Aperture.  The dragged copy appeared to play in QuickTime Player, but the screen was black.  However an Exported Version played correctly.

  • Trapped at transferring data from my old macbook pro to iMac

I got a new iMac yesterday and was trying to transfer data from my old macbook pro to iMac through time machine...
    However, I encountered HUGE problems....
Background info: I set up a new account before I transffered my data.
    Here is what I did:
I used migration assistance to transfer data. I chose to transfer everything listed on migration assistance from time machine to my new iMac.
After this process was completed, I switched to the transferred account from my newly-set account. Then I realized all the old stuf, (including the software problems + old apps such as microsoft 2008, had been transferred to my new iMac. what I really wanted were all the documents, pictures and music! Therefore I decided to delete this account....
    Question 1:
    1) I deleted the transferred account, then there was a windown came up asking me if i wanted to keep the home folder, I chose no. then mac started cleaning up and BACKING UP. Since I already had a copy of everything, I stopped the backup process....then this transferred account was deleted. However, everything was still on my mac that I don't have access to (at least I don't know how...) when I checked my mac stroage!
Could anyone tell me how to delete all the files I transferred from time machine to my new iMac?
    Question 2:
    2) how can i only transfer documents+pictures+music from my old macbook pro to new iMac through time machine without creating a new account? I want all the files to be directly transferred to my newly-set account...
    LSS:
    Question 1
I tried to transfer everthing from my old macbook pro to new iMac but i realized there were something I didn't want that had been transferred as well. Therefore I deleted this transferred account. However, all the files are still in my mac even if I have deleted that account. Could anyone tell me how I can access to those content and delete them?
    Question 2
I just want the documents, music and pictures (from iPhone library) to be directly transferred to the newly-set account on my iMac through time machine (instead to transferred the whole old account to my imac) How can I do it??
THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE OF GOING THROUGH THIS MESSAGE. I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD GIVE ME A HAND.
btw, you can totally see that i'm not a computer person at all....:( thanks for your help!!

I suggest starting over. Boot into Recovery mode, wipe the HD, reinstall the OS, and, on first boot, use the steps in Pondini's Setup New Mac guide to do the migration.'

  • Transferred a video from phone to macbook pro but sound is not working.

I transferred a video from my phone to my macbook pro. the transfer was successful but the sound is not working on the computer, totally mute. the video is playing on quicktime player. the computer sound is on. the video was working fine on the phone and when i transferred the video, if this makes any difference or anything, the phone's media volume was on full.
I very much appreciate the help and feed back, thank you!

I have this same issue and have been struggling with it for a while.  I really just need to get it into Apple Store to be fixed most likely - but avoiding the hassle and time needed to do so.
    Things I've come across:
Something inside of the headphone jack is not right, such that it randomly thinks headphones or some other type of optical audio device are plugged in.  you will see a red light inside the jack occasionally when it happens.
You might try doing PRAM and/or SMC reset ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964 )
