  • Problem to import clips video with "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader", my mini ipad and my camcorder?

I need import immediatly my clips video from my camcorder in my mini ipad with my SD card.
Solution: I have to use "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader"
Problem: When i insert my Sd card in the "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader", my mini ipad don't recognize the sd card... And i'm sure the format of clips video is accepted by ipad (specs).
I know why my mini ipad don't recognize the sd card... Because the directory where my camcorder put the clips video on the SD card is not accepted by  "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader". After some research, this device accept only the video in "DCIM" directory.
So my question: WHO KNOW WHICH CAMCORDER CAN BE ACCEPTED BY  "Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader" WITH CORRECT VIDEO FORMAT (SPECS) AND CORRECT WRITING DIRECTORY "DCIM"?
    Thanx for your help!!!!!

Since the ipad is not a computer it cannot be expected to behave as such. The resources are limited  and so are the capabilities. Some things will work just fine but others will not. You have to be  willing to make some compromises and accept some of the limitations, otherwise you will end up being frustrated. Maybe another device will better suite your needs.

  • Using lightning to SD Card Camera Reader with iPhone 6 plus

Yes. The Camera reader is not compatible with iPhones.

  • Transfer photo problem: Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader to iPad

    Equipment:
Apple Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader-ZML (from BH Photo dot com)
    Version 7.0.2 (11A501)
    iPad Wi-Fi Cellular 32GB MD517LL/A
    SD card 4GB Kingston SDHC
SD card 32GB Lexar SDHC Class 10
    Nikon D5100
Fry's build desktop with Windows 7 Home Edition
    Files type:
    *.jpg
    Desired outcome:
Transfer *.jpg images from desktop to SD card to iPad for use Photos (camera roll)
    Successes:
iPad recognizes and displays *.jpg created in-camera.
    Problem statement:
File origin: all image files created with camera listed above.
Files created in camera (*.jpg & *.NEF (RAW), then transferred to desktop.  *.NEF files converted to *.jpg.  Reload files to SD card in *.jpg format only, iPad does not see / display images to be imported from SD card to iPad.
    Problem resolution attempts:
Format SD card using desktop, result - iPad does not recognize SD card
Format SD card using camera, result - iPad recognizes SD card
Try a different SD card (used two, see equipment above)
Test shot photo (*.jpg) in camera work only (no transfer to desktop), result iPad recognizes and displays image
    For *.jpgs on desktop
1st convert file names to same nomenclature (system of names) created by camera (DSC_001.jpg) (DSC underscore 3 digits file extension).
2nd load file into same folder that was created by camera on SD cards, result displayed one desktop originating test photo once only.  Subsequent attempts failed.
No difference in performance between the 2 SD cards.  In camera work displays but not transfer files from desktop to SD card
E-mail photos (15) to personal e-mail, open file with internet, copy to iPad, result iPad copies, loads, and displays images in camera roll.  I used same images I loaded to SD from desktop in attempt to keep everything equal.
Side note: I received a notification (push to my device) to from Apple to update software.  The operating system was updated to what I have now.  I don't recall if the one success I listed above was before or after the OS update.
    Discussion
Lighning cable advertised as useful in transfering images (pictures) to iPad.  I read prior to purchase what image files were supported.  I began with high hopes, and now I'm very deflated.
I've hacked and hacked and tried and read and tried and... I can't solve this problem.
A resolution (without additional expenditures) is greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance to everyone for your consideration and help.

There's a step by step in the manual
    http://support.apple.com/manuals/
There is no specific naming convention beyond must be in the DCIM folder and  must have 8 character names. myphotos.jpg for example.
I've successfully used SD cards to import videos off my computer onto my iPad, they just have to be named right.
The reason for the work arounds is, in Apple's work flow, you use the camera kit only to interface with your camera, if you want to import from your computer, you use iTunes. So that's the methods they favor. Transferring from your computer to a card to your iPad via the kit is a non-supported work around, which is why you have to basically fool the iPad into thinking those images came directly from the camera.

  • I just purchased a lightning to sd card camera reader and when I connected to my iPad it said it wouldn't work, why?

I just purchased a lightning to sd card camera reader and when I connected to my iPad it said it wouldn't work, why?

What is the actual error message that you are getting, what typs of card is it, and how did the photos get onto the SD card ?
The supported cards are, from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4101 :
    SDSC
    SDHC
    miniSD
    microSD
    MMC
    SDXC
If you copied the photos onto the card yourself then the card needs to have a DCIM directory on the root of the card with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them.

  • IPhone 6 Plus and Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader - Missed Opportunity?

Apple definitely missed an opportunity to tighten up the DSLR/GoPro photography/video workflow with the iPhone 6 Plus.  Currently the only way to transfer images from a DSLR or GoPro camera is through an extremely slow WiFi/Bluetooth transfer process.  This is fine for someone is moving 1 or 2 images.  But, for a batch of 50 to 100, this approach is way too time consuming.  Android devices are way ahead of Apple in this regard and I'm fighting the urge to break-away from the iPhone once again, for something that is very solvable.
Enabling the the Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader to work with the new iPhone 6 Plus solves this workflow issue.
    Why not enable it?

I was gonna buy the 128GB iPhone 6+ until I read this. Now, nope. I may still have to get an iPhone because of the tons of apps I'm already invested in, but since the 6+ will be useless for photos, it'll be the midrange regular 6. Maybe.
Meanwhile, I'd love to get an Android device in about the same size as the 6+, storage and screen-wise, but don't need the cell capability. At 128GB it would make a great photo vault and something I could do some metadata entry on. Any suggestions?

  • My Olympic camera SD card doesn't fit into the SD card camera reader. Apple advised me to purchase the product in order to import photos to my IPad.

My Olympic camera SD card doesn't fit into the SD card camera reader. Apple advised me to purchase the product in order to import photos to my IPad. How do I over ride this problem. How do I import photos from an Olympus FE-340 directly to my IPad?

Your camera uses an OLympic XD picture card http://www.amazon.com/Olympus-xD-Picture-Memory-202332-package/dp/B002LC2DQ4/ref =pd_sim_sbs_p_1 This card has different dimensions compared to an SD card.
You should be able to plug the cable that came with your camera into the camera connection kit to import the pics.

  • HT4101 Why won't my iPad mini allow my gopro 32gb SD card to transfer video using the lightening to SD card camera reader?

Why won't my iPad mini allow my gopro 32gb SD card to transfer video using the lightening to SD card camera reader?
The gopro transfer worked with my original iPad. Is it the lightening technology?

If you've gone through all that and it's the right kind of SD card, right naming convention etc. try giving your iPad a reset. Sometimes that port gets turned off (for lack of a better term) and a reset turns it back on. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
If it still doesn't work, if you have access to another iPad try the reader on that. THere are some defective ones out there. If it works on another iPad then there's something going on with yours. If it doesn't work on another iPad then you may want to take that reader back and exchange it because it may be bad.

  • In synchronising I-tunes with my I-phone  I have lost some photos can anybody tell me what to do ?

    Hello,
In synchronising my i-phone with my i-tunes I have lost some photos I cannot find them anywhere nor on my phone nor on my i-tunes account can anyone help ?

    Hi jscher200,
Thank you for your reply, sorry for the VERY late late response, but I have just figured out how to control this separate 'panel'. I find it really useful for monitoring Google Analytics in as it can just sit there running. It does have its limitations, as it's a limited size (you can't expand it to full screen view), so you can only ever see a vertical section of a website and need to scroll to look to the right or left, but I have the live view of people accessing my website running on there and if the numbers start racking up at any time, I can scroll to look and see what pages they are accessing, where they've been referred from, etc.
To get it to work, you save a website address in the Bookmarks Toolbar and when you can see it sitting on the toolbar at the top of the screen with its little icon, right click on it then click 'properties', then tick the box 'Load this bookmark in the sidebar'. The next time you click on this bookmark to open the website, it will load in this sidebar, which looks like a separate 'window' but is immovable. You can only have one sidebar application running at a time, but can change it by right clicking on the bookmark you want to load in there and it will then change to that one next time you click on that bookmark.
I hope this might be useful to others, as I asked for help with this on loads of forums and not one person knew that this existed - even really skilled techies!

  • Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader OR Lightning to USB Camera Adapter?

I should buy one or the other for a Nikon D3100 since they are sold separately nowadays. Which is the best choice? Considering the (not so good) reviews for both of them, I have the impression that the USB camera adapter is more universal and less prone to problems...

All my pro camera presently use Compact Flash cards. I've never had a problem using the Lightning to USB Camera Adapter with any of my cameras.
the choice you make should be based on what is most convenient for you. If you have multiple Cameras or have a camera with a card other than an SD then the choice is obvious.

  • Kingston DTSE9 with Lightning to USB Camera Connector

    Hi
Does anyone know if the above USB stick works with the Lightning to USB camera connector? Just checking options before I purchase.
    thanks
    Neil

    Apologies Alfred.
I'm aware of the limitations of the system, and mimicking the file structure of a cameras storage is perfect for my needs.
My question should have stated my interest is more in regards to the energy needed to run the USB stick, as I’m acutely aware that different USB sticks have different power requirements, some being above and beyond what the IPad can supply.
I hope that this clarifies my question
    Thanks

  • Tried to sync with previously used computer/itunes and lost new photos

I just synced my Iphone 4 but used my old iphone's setting (already on my computer) Now I have lost my photos from my 4... I'm not sure how to restore to how it was before I tried syncing it with my computer...

    Sue,
I recommend an external drive to maintain your music.  All your purchases are held in iCloud...so redownloading should be easy.  Also, Home sharing is a great way to transfer to a new computer, but in the case of hard drive failure your options are limited.  Home sharing is specifically for transferring to another pc.  Good luck!

  • HT4106 I just bought the lightning to SD card camera reader and it worked with the photos but didn't find the videos  on the same SD card.

The cable only imported the photos and doesn't read the videos. Am I not seeing something on my iPad mini?

Do those videos follow the naming convention? To be seen all files must have the 8 character name, for example VID_4854.mp4
If they don't follow the naming convention they won't be seen. They also need to be a format that the iPad will play.
