Transform Path into a Shape

Hi guys,
I have a vector Speech Bubble and i would like to transform it in a solid shape. How to do that? I tried "Oultine Stroke" but is when i try to put a Fill it as a background it does not work. The idea is to crop a flag besides the Speech Bubble. It supposed to be easier but somehow i am stuck.

Never mind...i found a way to do it...just fill the the path with a shape make them both a group or unify in one piece and expand and voila!

Can one select the path of a shape layer?

I previously have created a "route" on a map using the stroke filter which allows me to select the path and then copy it into the anchor point of the map so I can make the map move with the stroke.
I was wondering if this is possible using shape layers. I know I can create the route using an open shape on a shape layer, but I'm not able to select the "open shape" to paste this into the anchor point as above. Is it possible to select the "open shape" to use it in this manor.

The After Effects CC (12.2) update makes creating Bezier paths easier and more obvious.
option for creating shape layers based on Bezier paths:
When a shape tool (Rectangle, Rounded Rectangle, Polygon, Star, or Ellipse tool) is active, you can use the new Bezier Path option in the Tools panel to create a new shape based on a Bezier path, as opposed to the default of creating a new shape based on a parametric path. Holding the Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) key while drawing a shape causes the opposite behavior—i.e., if the Bezier Path option is enabled, holding the Alt or Option key causes the shape tool to create a parametric path; if the Bezier Path option is disabled, holding the Alt or Option key causes the shape tool to create a Bezier path.

You can convert a parametric path to a Bezier path after the parametric path has already been created by context-clicking (right-clicking or Control-clicking on Mac OS) the property group for the parametric path (e.g., Rectangle Path 1) and choosing the Convert To Bezier Path command from the context menu. If the parametric path is animated (keyframed), the converted Bezier path is a static path based on the parametric path at the current time; keyframes are lost.
IMPORTANT: When you use the Convert To Bezier Path command to convert a parametric shape path to a Bezier shape path, the Bezier path that is created does not animate well (i.e., interpolation between paths behaves strangely and unpredictably). This is related to path direction and how transformations are stored. For now, you should not use these converted paths for animated paths (interpolation between paths); but, if you do want to try, you may be able to work around the issues by reversing the path before conversion.

Is it possible to turn a stroke into a shape? Is it possible to expand a shape so that it grows out?

If I have an organic shape (ie not a square or circle) and I want to give it an outline, but not use stroke, if I place a copy of the shape below it and expand it then the outlines don't match up, and for very complex shapes it can be time consuming to adjust it. If I could put a stroke on it then extract it into a shape, that would be one way.
Alternatively, is it possible to expand a shape so that it grows out, similiar to expanding a selection in Photoshop?
I'm using Illustrator CS3, but let me know if it's possible in other versions.

How to merge paths into one?

I'm trying to shape morph a circle into 8 circles. So, the way I was planning to do this is to use the mask keyframe on a fill layer.
However I ran into a problem with actually pasting the 8 circles (I made them in Illustrator). After Effects pastes them as 8 separate masks, when the result I actually want is one single mask. How can I paste 8 different paths into a single vector mask?

You can't. That's just not how AE works. Each mask path is a separate entity, everything else is an illusion.

Importing a path into photoshop

I created a path in Photoshop CS6 and exported it as a "Paths to Illustrator" vector file to the desktop. Now I want to import the path into another PS file. How do I do this?
I cannot copy and paste the path as I no longer have the original file that was used to create the path. This seems to be a simple task that I'm sure used to be easily done by importing the path in older versions of PS.

Photoshop Is not a file editor. You can add path to a photoshop document several ways. When you have the path in one open document you can Create a custom shape and then use the shape path in any document using the custom shape tool. You can drag a path for one document's path palette and drop it onto an other open document. You can insert the path into an action step and that step will inset the path into documents the action is used on. You can save custom shapes and action with insert path steps a copy the saved file onto other machines and load them into Photoshop.. When you save Open documents that have path some file formats support paths and will save paths in the saved image file. When those file are opened in Photoshop the path will be in the open documents paths palette.
I have never used illustrator however if you have the AI file and illustrator there may be a way to open the .AI file in illustrator export the path to Photoshop, It may have an export path to Photoshop or perhaps you can drag and drop between applications. However I don't know all I know is Photoshop has a menu File>Export Path to Illustrator. However the is no menu File>Import Paths from illustrator. When I use menu File>Export Path To Illustrator Photoshop saves a *.ai file. If I drop the file on Photoshop Photoshop want to open it a s rasterized ESP document in CMYKt and there is no Path in the paths palette.

Why can't I Transform Layer, Transform Path is only option?

I have been trying to bring in an object from another picture to composite a missing piece into a photo. When I cut and paste an object from another picture it becomes a vector path and when I try to scale the object I only have the option to "Transform Path", not the whole object or layer. Is there a way to prevent an object from becoming a vector image or convert it back so I can scale it?

Adding multiple paths into a compound path

If I use the gui to add multiple paths into a compound path all I have to do is select multiple paths and choose Object->Compound Path->Make (or ctrl-8). When I do this then the bottom path which is filled has holes 'punched through' creating a window in the shape of the smaller paths which were on top of the larger one. For example, a large rectangle with a white fill color is the bottom item and two smaller paths are on top. I create a compound path and whatever is below the new compound path shows through in the largest shape of the previous two smaller paths.
If I use JavaScript and create a new compoundPathItem and move 3 paths into it, with the largest being first, then I get a compound path but only the first of the smaller objects creates a transparent space.
Here is a simplified example:

In the above example the 'bigbox' path has the left and right paths on top of it but only the left path creates a transparent space in the original box.
I also tried using PLACEATEND instead of INSIDE and grouping the two smaller paths together and moving the group to the compound path.
Merging path items together won't work - I want to keep the original path's closed and intact without drawing a line between them so I can't just add their pathpoints together.
Is move() the best way to add existing paths to a new compound path?

Im at work at the moment so only have access to CS2 where the second script works… The first script worked at home with CS5…

As you can see with this I did not change the polarity of the last path as in this test case I knew it was the largest of the shapes not sure if that had any bearing on my results…?

Storing Uploaded Image Path into Mysql

Hi I am developing a cms and am using the code David gives in his book PHP Solutions, everything works fine but I can't work out how to extract the uploaded path so that it is stored in my table.
Help would be really appreciated, I am making good progress in learning the php especially with David's books but am still struggling when it comes to having to customized the code.

Cant re install icloud on Windows 7 32bit, transform path invalid

Hi everybody.
I have been trying to reinstall icloud on my Windows 7 32bit pc, but everytime i try to install i get this error:
'Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid'
And then the installer shuts down.
Does anyone have a clue ?

Same problem here. I was prompted to update iTunes and all the problems started. After installing and reinstalling 10 times, clean the registry, etc. and even deleted my iTunes library, I have realized that the problem comes when installing Apple Application Support. I get the message "Error applying transforms. Verify that the specified transform paths are valid" and there's no way to get over it. Last thing I have done is check Windows 7 integrity with the command SFC/SCANNOW and it says everything is ok with my windows 7.
This is not the first time I've got problems updating iTunes (will think twice before doing it again).

How do I turn a list of files and paths into this format using AS?

I'm a complete novice with Applescript and I need some help to script turning a list of files from the Finder into a specific format in a text doc, so I can save as CSV and import into another app (Anki, for learning language).
Here's an example list of files:
I can get Automator to spit out the files names and paths into a text file, but I think I need Applescript to turn the result into this:

This processes the JPG files, and then assumes that the CAF files are in the flle structure you provided.

Adobe Acrobat Standard 9.5 Install Error: "Error applying transforms please ensure specified transform paths are valid". Any ideas on how to fix this?

I had Acrobat Standard 9.5 on a laptop that broke. Adobe Acrobat Standard is paid for and all I need. I had to get a new PC (Windows 8.1) and I did downloaded Standard 9.5 but when I went to install it the installer gave me an “Error applying transforms please ensure specified transform paths are valid”. Any ideas on how to fix this?

No error numbers other than the message I mentioned previously.
I tried the transforms repair and it reported no Acrobat product (correct, none yet installed) or no administrative privileges (I am the administrator and have done previous administrative actions).
When I unzip the Acrobat file this is what is in the setup ini file:

How to cut and paste a picture into a shape in Illustrator CS4

In illustrator CS4 I am trying to cut and paste a picture into a shape. In freehand the shortcut was so easy. I know there is one in Illustrator but cant remember what it is, can anyone tell me?

What Steve said, with the addition that you may get rid of the outlying parts, by:
1) With the mask selected, in the Transparency palette dropdown select anything but Normal,
2) Object>Flatten Transparency, no need to change options,
unless you have withheld information and really want to distort the picture to fit the shape, in which case you should select both shape and picture and Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Top Object.
The procedure 1) - 2) is destructive in case of vector artwork but makes no difference with raster images, and it makes it easier to avoid accidental/unwanted selection outside the Clipping Mask.
