Transform tool working

My Transform tool doesnt work completely. Its very un predictable when attempting to use CNTRL + SHIFT, I dont get an opportunity to move/ transform the corner I'm clicking on. I click then start the drag, hold down the CNTRL key and nothing different happens. It will occasionally work if i scroll with my mouse but thats very rare. Im trying to add perspective with out having to place it into the perspective grid and i dont want to have to take it to photoshop transform the perspective and then live trace it to get the desired result when i know i can do the same thing using the transform tool in illustrator.

I did just that and i got no result. I clickDrag, then hold Ctrl and for some reason it doesn't allow me to "grab" the corner. Then if I hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt, the ClickDrag on the corner I get the opportunity to get a Perspective Transformation. But I cant seem to ever isolate one corner and manipulate it accordingly.

Im really frustrated with how the free transform tool works for me (or in that case, it doesnt work)
I am using Illustrator CS4 on a PC.
Adobe Help for that software states:
Select one or more objects.
Select the Free Transform tool .
Start dragging a corner handle on the bounding box (not a side handle), and then do one of the following:Hold down Ctrl (Windows) or Command (Mac OS) until the selection is at the desired level of distortion
First of all Im unable to select anything with the free transform tool, so I use the regular selection tool first to select my object.
As you can see after selecting the object I have selected the free transformation tool, grabbed the corner and pressed Control Key on my keyboard (tried both keys as well). The transformation tool refuses to work as it does in Photoshop.
I have tried to reset my keybindings to Illustrator default.
I have tried first clicking the corner, holding it and then pressing down the CTRL without moving the mouse as was stated on some other forums googled with this issue.
I have tried setting my keyboard to American US in Windows.
As you can see the object is a very simple rectangle, its not a part of any type of group.
Im working on a european version of CS4 Master Collection bought in London UK.
I have tried this on a US version that I have at work, it has the same issue.
I have seen and followed the instruction from various YouTUbe movies and the tool simply wont comply to my commands.
I am pissed.

Placed raster images will not distort with the Free Transform Tool.
Linked (as opposed to embedded) raster images will not distort.
If you enclose an embedded raster image in an Envelope (ex: Make With Mesh, 1 Row 1 Cell), then it can be distorted by the Free Transform Tool using the modifier keys, without having to dink around with the Envelope handles.

Why is Transform Tool "reverse position" not working??

Hi.. I have a part that I want to reverse the pitches of so that I can record it as audio and then reverse it so that it is a reversed version of the sound, yet it's playing the right pitches at the proper time...
I was under the impression that the transform tool could do this, however it is not working for me. Could some please enlighten me to my error?

CS3 Free Transform Tool does not work at all for distortion

I tried everything, worked with vector objects of different configurations and rasterized objects. Nothing works. When I press Free Transform Tool and go to bounding box corner it become rotate or resize tool. When I click a little bit inside the bounding box and hold Command Key (I tried many keys and without keys) it just moves the whole object, it did not select just one point that I need. Envelope Mesh does not work for the same reason, but I do not need mesh tool. I have Illustrator 13.02, Mac OS 10.4.11
The Free Transform Tool functions exactly as the main selection tool. Please help.

I STILL cannot get this to work. I have tried everything suggested in this thread. I have followed the directions in the help menus explicitly. I have tried grouping, ungrouping. I have tried it on type, on type changed to outlines, on simple rectangles. Without success.
When I try to use the free transform tool and hover over a corner of the bounding box, I get either a double-headed corner arrow, a rotation arrow, or a move arrow. Using the first two, dragging the point and then holding down the control/command key results only in a scaling of the object.
Should I restart? Should I re-install? What should I do?

Gradient Transform Tool not working in Flash Pro CS6

I've tried all sizes (reducing and enlarging.) I'm working in shapes (I'm following a tutorial exactly so I know it's not what I'm doing wrong)
I'm running Mountain Lion on a 2008 iMac, but according to all I read it should be fine. Is Flash CS6 not supported in the new Mac OS?
I seem to be seeing a lot of complaints on various forums. I don't see the circle shape when i click on the tool. There's nothing. Any suggestions?

I'm having similar problems with the Gradient tool. I'm on a iMac 2009, OSX 10.8.3.
The gradient transform tool isn't working properly. The options for the tool aren't showing up in the tool bar.
I want to transform a gradient in multiple elements at the same time. A bunch of letters in a word.
The gradient transform handles only show up when I select a single element. And not when I select multiple items with the same gradient fill. I'm also using Flash CS6 via Creative Cloud.

Hey everyone this is my first post here. I am not having any luck using my transform tool. When you double click text you should be able to move it around but in my case I can’t. I can still move the whole layer around but I want to be about to move the text around within that layer. This is also becoming an issue because all my masking work isn’t possible any more as I can not select the handles to manipulate my mask.
Here is just some more information for you guys. I am not seeing my mouse pointer change as I scan over the blue dots as it once did in early versions. I am using 10.1.1

You don't use the transform tool to move text. Double clickk the title in the timeline or double click the text. This should highlight the text and allow you to drag it around. Not sure what blue dots you are refering to.

Transform tool in Elements 4 not working

I'm trying to use the transform tool in Elements 4. All seems to be well until I hit the return key to activate the changes and then nothing happens. The image remains on screen with the transform perspective change visible but it doesn't actually make the change. I use an iMac with OSX.10.5.5
Can anyone offer advice?

No, what I did is still there visible on screen but not applied to the image. I'm finding it quite hard to explain using the correct terminology but if you visualise pulling the top triangles in so that two triangular sections appear on the edges (giving me, if the change would be applied, sides that are parallel to the sloping verticals in the image - which is the distortion I'm trying to correct), then committing this change, the marching ants disappear, the two triangular sections on the edges remain visible but no correction is applied to the image.
Does this help to describe my problem? Even more relevant, perhaps, is that I tried loading PSE3 into a PC and exactly the same problem emerged with transform perspective commands.
I'm sure you are right about my workflow. There is some fundamental issue that I haven't addressed properly. I don't need Photoshop much for the sort of work I do. Almost everything is well handled by Lightroom. So I haven't actually used this part of Photoshop since giving up CS2 in my old PC.

Select/transform tool changes to pan tool when working with text

I have had this problem since Motion 2, and version 3 is no different. Whenever I work with text in Motion, at some point while moving the text in the canvas, the select/transform tool will suddenly change into the Pan tool, and it won't let me do anything else but pan things. I have to close and reopen Motion to correct this. It happens VERY OFTEN, every time I work with text...it get's really annoying haveing to conatantly quit and reopen the program. I lose a lot of time doing that. Has anyone else had this problem? I also have a Powermac G5 that has the same problem so I know it's not the Mac Pro. Any suggestions?

Free Transform tool not working.

I am using Elements 13 on an iMac OSX 10.10.3.The Free transform tool is not working properly when I try to scale an image. for example, if I type in '140 %' and tick 'constrain proportions', I find that one box shows '140' and the other box shows '14%', or sometimes, '120'. It is very frustrating. does anyone have any ideas about this problem?

Since Free Transform is a command rather than a tool, there isn't a specific reset for it. Try deleting the prefs: Go to the editor preferences>general, click this button, and restart the editor:

Free transform tool is not working

Hi, I'm getting this error every time I try to use the free transform tool, the window doesn't show all the options, the white space where you manipulate the vector has a very low quality image and won't let me move anything. I've tried with diferent objects, files, color profiles and I keep getting the same error, I'm using a 15" Macbook Pro retina display and Illustrator CC.
Any idea of how to fix it?

Chris, Thank you! I wanted to change the eye area, so when I selected the area and used free transformation tool, it did not work. Photoshop crashes when using Free Transform Tool

Hello All Forum Members,
Recently Photoshop CS6 crashes when I attempt to use the Free Transform Tool through the shortcut (Ctrl+T).
It also crashes very often when using any of the free transform/transform tools via the menu as well, though not as often as the previous listed situation.
This experience only occurred recently - for all the time I have been using CS6, this has never happened.
I have read another thread similar to this, though I don't think the cause of the problem is the same as this was only a recent experience.
Any help will be appreciated.

Free Transform tools

Using free transform tool, it used to be that you can hold down the Shift key while dragging the corner to resize your image/object.
This shortcut no longer gives you a proportional scaling unless you have to click on the Lock in the tool menu.
However, when it comes to scaling type boxes, it works perfectly fine.

@R_Kelly: I am using Ps CC 2014. This happened with my previous version as well.
@normfb I don't mean by the lock layers. What I meant is that when you do scaling using Cmd+T and then hold down Shift to scale the object, usually in previous versions of Ps, that would give you proportionate scaling. However, this no longer works in my last 2 versions of Ps. This has been something that bother me a lot as I am a long time user of keyboard shortcuts. If I have to move my pen/mouse for something I can do with a keyboard, would mean I am wasting my time.

Transformation tool problem

I cannot get the transformation tool to work properly. I click on a corner, then hold down ctrl and drag to my desired shape. As soon as I release either the mouse click or ctrl the box reverts back to a rectangle. Any remedies?

You may try whether this gives you what you want, Smart Guides being your friends:
1) With the Rectangle Tool ClickDrag from the upper left corner to the lower right corner of the photo (where Smart Guides say anchor);
2) Transform the rectangle as desired;
3) Select both and Object>Envelope Distort>Make with Top Object.

Adobe CS6 Flash - 3D transform tool is grayed out?

Hi,
I am using adobe flash cs6 and I want to rotate an image in 3d space, but when I select the image then click the 3d transform tool I don't get the 3 circles to spin the image. I tried opening the transform toolbar, and the options to move it in 3d space are grayed out. I tried breaking the image apart, and still the same results - I can't rotate the image...
Does anyone know what I should be doing to get 3d rotate to work?
