TRANSFORMATION AND DTP

Hi all,
I have two questions:
1. If I have a 3x datasource..can i still use Transformations and DTP's with it in BI 7.0?
2. I have a cube and know the datasources. Could some one give me the modelling steps that come next... i am using BI 7.0 and want to use Transformations and DTP.
Thanks

1. If I have a 3x datasource..can i still use Transformations and DTP's with it in BI 7.0?
Yes - you can.
2. I have a cube and know the datasources. Could some one give me the modelling steps that come next... i am using BI 7.0 and want to use Transformations and DTP.
data loading in BI 7.0 from fla file extraction.
fisrt create one Cube or DSO with the same structure which you have in flatfile..
and activate it..
->now comes to Datasource tab> create one Datasource here you need to select type of data for example.. select Transactional data --> and menntion your flatfile name in extraction tab- and file type and eneter your info object names in FIELDS tab --> and load preview data Activate it..
now select your datasource and create info package and schedule it.. now your data will loded in to PSA level...
> and now comes to info provider select your cube.. and right clcik it.. and create transformations.,. and activate it..
> and create DTP -- Activate it.. and Execute it..
1)Create datasource. Here u can set/check the Soucre System fields.
2)Create Transformation for that datasource. (no more update rules/transfer rules)
2.1) While creating transformation for DS it will ask you for data target name, so just assign where u want to update ur data.
DataSource -> Transformation -> (DTP)-->Data Target
Now if you want to load data into data target from Source System Datasource:
1) Create infopackage for that data source. If you are creating infopackage for new datasources, it will only allow you update upto PSA, all other options u can see as disabled.
2)Now Create DTP (Data Transfer Process) for that data source.
3) NOw schdule the Infopackage, once the data is loaded to PSA, you can execute your DTP which will load data to data target.
Data Transfer Process (DTP) is now used to load data using the dataflow created by the Transformation. Here's how the DTP data load works:
1) Load InfoPackage
2) Data gets loaded into PSA (hence why PSA only is selected)
3) DTP gets "executed"
4) Data gets loaded from PSA into the data target once the DTP has executed
Hope it helps..

Thanks so much everyone for your suggestions.  Iu2019ve tried them all and hereu2019s what I now have:
Anil u2013 Active datasources were included in the original transport.  I tried retransporting and got the same error messages.
Voodi u2013 0ACCOUNT_TEXT was resident in the Q system as a 3x datasource.  I replicated it as a 70 datasource in D and this is what was transported to Q.  It is a 7.0 datasource in Q.  I got the same error messages when I tried transporting just the transformations.
Jayaram - 0ACCOUNT is active in the Q system and is currently being used in transformations other than the one Iu2019m trying to import.
Godhuli u2013 I not only re-replicated the datasource in D, I reactivated the transformations and DTPs and resaved the InfoPackages.  I tried retransporting with a new transport request and it failed with the same error messages.
Is there anything else anyone can think of?

  • Inactive transformations and DTPs after running BDLS

    Hi Experts
I ran the BDLS job, Restored , Activated and Replicated the S.S.
Some of my transformations and DTPs got inactivated . Does any body have any clue of why this happened.
My observations was when i restored it gave an error message " Error 2 in RFC_VERIFY_DESTINATION "  although the S.S check says OK and i am able to do loads and during replication process of S.S it was saying " Function module  /SDF/AL_MAP_TRANSID_LOGH does not exist."  I am not sure if the above errors/observations have any link to some of Transformations and DTPs getting inactivated while the rest of DTPs are active.
    Please advice
    Thanks

  • How to Activate Transformations and DTP in PRODUCTION

    Hi Experts,
I Have done some modifications in datasource in R/3 when i treid to run the Infopacakge in BI, I see the Datasource is inactivate.
So I have activated the DS through the program in se38 rsds_datasource_activate_all, after that i see the transformations and DTP is inactivate.
In 3.5 we have program to activate the transfer rules and updates though rsds_transtru_activate_all  i dont have idea for update rules program to activate.
*Is there any program to activate the transformations and DTP in Production.Rather than re-transport entire thing.*
    Regards.

There is no activation program for Transformations. In order to do that in production, you would have to have the client opened for modification and manually activate the Transformation(s) that are in a deactivated state. This isn't advisable however. The best approach to activate deactivated Transformations is to capture on a transport in the development environment and move that transport throughout the landscape to production.
The SAP delivered ABAP program RSDKDTPREPAIR is available for activating DTPs. There is no selection screen for this program, however, and therefore it would try to activate all DTPs. This program should only be executed in background.
Here are the other activation programs in case you need them or are interested (I realize that you mentioned or more already):
    RSDG_CUBE_ACTIVATE (InfoCube)
    RSDG_IOBJ_ACTIVATE (InfoObject)
    RSDG_MPRO_ACTIVATE (MultiProvider)
    RSDG_ODSO_ACTIVATE (DSO)
RSQ_ISET_MASS_OPERATIONS (InfoSet - Requires client to be opened)
    RSDS_DATASOURCE_ACTIVATE_ALL (DataSource)
SAP delivered program RSDS_TRANSTU_ACTIVATE_ALL is for activating Transfer Structures, which aren't relevant for 7.x DataSources.

  • Master Data: Transformation and DTP for compounded characteristic

    Good day
Please assist, I am not sure what is the correct way.
I extract master data from a db via DB connect.
There are three fields in the db view for extraction. (1) Code (2) Kind and (3) Code Text.
What I have done is the following. I created a datasource with transformation and DTP for master data text for (1) and (3), and then a datasource master data attribute transformation and DTP for (1) and (3).
Is this the correct way to handle extracts of compounded characteristics?
    Your assistance ill be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Cj

    Hello,
if the char ' Code' is compounded with 'Kind'.
then for text datasource u shld have  1, 2 and 3. the table for this datasource should have 'code' and 'kind' as keys.
for the attribute datasource u shld have 1 ,2 followed by the reqd attributes of 'Code'.

If only needed nw2004s data flow(DTP,Transformation..) then migration required else you can stay with old 3.x dataflow.
Follow below links patiently it has wealth of information embedded.
    For nw2004s data flow
    Pre-requisite - 3.x datasource to be replicated as 7.0
and migrate datasource with "export datasource option" so that you can later revert back to OLD if needed.

R/3---->PSA only (using Infopackage) for all the Loads -Mandatory
    PSA -

    no Datamart architecture in NW2004s
    so ODS -
    >Cube load using DTP ,creating transformation first
Once loaded to PSA in DTP you have the option of FULL or DELTA ,full loads all the data from PSA and DELTA loads only the last load of PSA.

  • How do I "Init without data transfer' using 7.0 transformations and DTP's?

I have a data-mart situation where I have a standard DSO object that sends deltas up to a standard cube.  This data flow is created with 7.0 transformation and a delta type DTP and has been running fine.
I now have a new single activated request loaded to the DSO object but I DO NOT want this request to delta update to the cube. In 3.x, I used to go into the init infopackage, manually delete the initialization pointer, and run a 'Initialize Without Data Transfer' to make this work.  Deltas could then continue as before.
I do not see a way to do this using 7.0 transformations and DTP's.  I want to reset the init from DSO to cube so this request does not get updated.  Does anyone have step by step ideas on how this can be accomplished?
Thanks in advance for any help on this issue.

    Hi,
delete the data in the cube by using oprtion selective deletion based on request number.
(if delta request is deleted from cube, with next load last delta records will also come)
in this scenario there is no need to delete initiaizations option.
in BI 7.0, initialization load is not there.
see below documentation on DTP in SAP help.
"On the Extraction tab page, specify the parameters:
    a.      Choose Extraction Mode.
You can choose Delta or Full mode.
In contrast to a delta transfer with an InfoPackage, an explicit initialization of the delta process is not necessary for the delta transfer with a DTP. When the data transfer process is executed in delta mode for the first time, all existing requests are retrieved from the source and the delta status is initialized. "

  • BW Procedure System Copy - Problemas with transformations and DTP

    Hello,
My Administration system have done a BW production copy to a BW non-productive system. After that, I have created a transport order in BW production with the option "with the source-system-dependent objects". Before I transport this order to BW non-productive system, I have deleted, in this system, the ancient source-system assignment.
When I have transported the order to BW non-productive system, the system I created transformation an DTP with another  ID. I was expected that the ID was the same and not another one. Is this normal? What will happen when i tranport the changes form BW non-productive system to BW productive system?
    Best regards.
    Sérgio Pinto

    Hello Raghavendra,
But the BDLS report is not only for changing the logical name of the BW system? Is it possible to use this program in BW for changing the logical name of the source system than is assigned to the datasources?
By changing ID I want to say that the DTP with the ID DTP_4EC3YB6B6DT0OIH1TMBB0F5VG is change to the ID DTP_4K1H1XZ38M1CLVJ2IA8KFDQYY in BW no-productive system, after transport from productive to non-productive system.
    Best regards.

  • Copy transformations and DTPs

Is there a way to copy one Transformation to another? Is there also a way to copy one DTP to another?

Transformations can be copied, but DTPs cannot be copied. To copy a Transformation, do the following:
    1) Right-click on the Transformation that is to be copied
    2) Select the Object Type and enter the Name of the source and target for the new Transformation
    3) Hit Enter
    4) Make any necessary updates to the mappings and transformational logic, as needed

  • Regarding Transformation and Data Transfer Process(DTP)

    Dear Gurus
    1) Transformation replaces the transfer rule and update rule.
    2) DTP replaces the info package.
Hencse, there is a some advantages are there in Transformation and DTP.
    I couldn't understand in help.sap.com.
Could you please tell me in simple language what all are the new features are there in Transformation and DTP which is not possible in Transfer rule, Update rule and infopackage.
    Thanks and Regards
    Raja

    Hi Raja,
These are the advantages of DTP and Transformation over their predecessors.
DTP:1)Improved transparency of staging processes across data warehouselayers (PSA, DWH layer, ODS layer, Architected Data Marts)
    2)Improved performance:Intrinsic parallelism
3)Separation of delta mechanism for different data targets: delta capability is controlled by the DTP
    4)Enhanced filtering in data flow
5)Repair modes based on temporary buffers (buffers keep complete set of data)
Transformation:   SAP NetWeaver2004s significantly improves transformation capabilities. The improved graphical UI contributes to decrease TCO.
1)Transformation Improved performance, flexibility and usability
    2)Graphical UI
3)Unification and simplification of transfer and update rules
    4)New rule type: end routine
5)New rule type: expert routine (pure coding of transformation)
6)Unit Conversion Capabilities for unit conversion during data load (and reporting)
Assign points if it is helpful.
    Cheers,

  • Load Masterdata with Infopackage and DTP..Is there any other way simplier ?

    Dear all:
We are currently working under BI 2004s SP09. And we are trying to loading Masterdata from R3. For Attributes and text, we have to create Infopackage for DS, load data from R3 into PSA(Not able to into Char directly), then create transformation and DTP to upload data into characteristics.
If we work with transformation and DTP directly, we got nothing!!?? But if that is the only way we can upload InfoObject, the whole process seems more complexe then what happened in BW 3.X.
Or there is way to allow us upload data into Infoobject directly with DTP?
    Thank you all very much
    BR
    SF

    Hi Kenneth,
Am wondering whether the DTP was created at the wrong level, the top level as you have suggested, i.e the Infocube (or Infoprovider) level is the correct place to place the DTP.
As for a simpler method, I'd stay clear of the do not access PSA.  We found numerous problems with moving to PRD and daily deltas not working correctly.
Hence as such changed loads to OLTP > Infopackage > DTP > Data Target(be it master data).
    Hope it helps.

  • Trace last touch of Transformation or DTP

    Hi Gurus,
Can you help me out trace the person or TP which deactivated our Transformation and/or DTP in BI 7.0?
The only information I could get is the time when Transformation had been changed (in the Properties of the Transformation).  Thus, I've checked all of the TP's during that time (using STMS transaction).
Am I on the right track?  I am looking into all of TP's which have been moved during the time the Transformation had been changed.
    Any inputs will be appreciated.
    Thanks and warmest regards,
    -Louis Marco

    Hi Louis,
I don't believe that it is possible to see who changed the transformation or the DTP before the last person
that changed it. In other words I don't believe a history of the changes are stored in a table.
    Best Regards,
    Des.
