I just keep gettin an error on my iPhone saying "This movie could not be played" This is a legitimate copy I paid for so why the trouble?

A song I just downloaded wont play

Purchased Music wont play on iphone

Hi everyone..
Please help!
Music has all worked fine on iPhone 4s.
As of yesterday all my puchased music on my iPhone won't play.
It doesn't start or even try but jumps to the next song with the wrong artwork.
CDs I transferred work fine but nothing from iTunes.
iTunes plays fine on my computer.
I tried deactivating then reactivating and resynching.
I also copied the purchased into a playlist. It wont play the songs purchased songs out of the playlist either.
Grr.. any ideas?
No updates/new software since then and Im on the latest iTunes version and latest iOS

Ok folks,
I had this problem inn that the music was on the phone but would not play or at least the track appeared to be playing but no sound or the art work and artist did not match the track playing.
What I did was un tick every box in the iphone music tab and then synced. I then took all the sync my music ticks out and scnced the phone again. My tracks were still on the phone and played.
I have the back up to icloud turned on so i don't know if this was causing some conflict somewhere.
It seems to have sorted it for me at the moment.

Audio books wont play on Iphone 4S

Having trouble with audio books playing on phone 4S after transfer from itunes library. They show up in my content but wont play.

No idea why this would happen.
But try deleting all music via Settings> General> Usage> Music.
Just swipe to delete the Music app. It just deletes all contents of the music app.
Then resync music.

Download error, tap to retry on song in download list even though has downloaded and plays on iPhone 5s

I recently downloaded a song through iTunes on my IPhone.
The song downloaded and can be played on the phone but iTunes is still say that the song hasn't fully downloaded. Comes up with 'Downloaded error, tap to retry' that I can't get rid of.
This is strange as the song has completed downloading and can be played on the iPhone in its entirety!

I would be concerned too if the songs I purchased from iTunes were not downloading to my iPhone. You have taken some great troubleshooting steps already, and thank you for providing the details of the steps you too. I have a few additional suggestions to get it downloaded to your iPhone.
First, I recommend checking to see if the download was interrupted:
If your download was interrupted using your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
From the Home screen, tap the iTunes app.
For iPhone or iPod touch, tap More > Downloads. For iPad, tap Downloads.
Enter your account name and password if prompted.
Tap the blue download arrow to resume.

Delete download after playing on iPhone?

All seems to be going well with iCloud and Music Match. However, once on iPhone after playing seems to me I should be able to delete songs to keep it from filling up. Right now expermenting on iPad where I don't store music before going to my iPhone which is my music player and chuck full right now.
I like the idea of deletng all music on my device and pplaying through cloud.
How does one keep storage reasonable or once played/downloaded is it there for good?

SIMPLE SOLUTION FOUND!
On your iDevice go to Settings-->Music and set "Show All Music" to OFF
Now return to the Music App and only music you have download will show. Then it is a simple matter so Swipe "Delete" songs that will fill up your iPhone/iPad/iPod

Beatport tracks wont play on iphone

i have many playlits on my phone all work expept 2 playlists with tracks only downloaded on beatport. whenever i try to play them my iphone just goes crazy and the the whole application stops workin. Help!! ( iphone 5 on 6.1.3)

Same problem here, Pnoelle. When did you purchase those tracks?
When I play the latest 38 tracks I purchased from Beatport a few days ago they cause random lock-ups of the music app which kicks me back to the playlist showing all of the tracks. If I then play the song which locked-up the app it will usually play fine, but sometimes it locks up again.
I think there's something wrong with their newest encoded MP3s since the other 1000+ tracks from Beatport that I have on my phone do not have this problem. I don't know how, but maybe this has something to do with the new AIFF format they introduced?
I use an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.4. Load the songs to the phone from a Mac iTunes 11.0.2.

Movies and some TV Shows wont play on iPhone even though they appear in the Movies section

I have an iPhone 4S and my old 3GS and after upgrading to iOS 5 neiher will play all of the Movies and TV Shows that sync across from iTunes.
I already have issues with incorrect media that won't sync based on compatibility grounds, but these videos have synced onto the devices but show up in the Videos secion as greyed out options that can't be clicked.
In some cases two of the three episodes will play but the third is just a grey option.
Does anyone know what is causing this?
The problem exisits both with video ripped from DVD's and video purchased from the iTunes store.

It sounds like you have some items on the phone taking up space but you cannot find them to delete them.
First, if you have not already start by restarting the phone and your computer, then try the sync again to see if it updates correctly.

Itunes downloads wont play in car

i have tried to download music on a usb to play in my 2009 chevy. will not play. computer shows the music is on usb. is car too old to play the downloads or can i do something to get music to play?? thanks for any help stew

Stew, there are 2 possibilities:
If you bought those tracks prior to mid-2009, they are probably DRM-protected, and will not play in any non-Apple device.
If you bought them more recently, they are in AAC format. That is Apple's favorite audio format, but it is frequently rejected by non-Apple players. Fortunately, you can use iTunes to convert AAC into standard MP3 format, per this guide:

Video content of ibook wont play on iPhone

Hi, I've just purchased a book through the itunes store, I can read the book fine but I cant play the videos that are included with it. The 'play' synbol is faded and there's a line across it. As far as I know all my iphone software is all up-to-date and there's spare memory. It's a 3GS it that should make any difference.

I downloaded the latest itunes last night and am running 7.02 Now my music from my itunes library on my phone will not play. I have tried to delete and resync. nothing is working.

I think you will need to sync those files to Itunes first, then sync your phone to itunes to transfer those music.

Downton Abbey download wont play

I have downloaded Downton series 3 from the UK but message on trying to synch it with an ipod nano (purchased 2009) is that "video format is not supported" But i have many other TV series that have been ok. Anyone had this problem?

We had the same inexplicable stutter, and I managed to fix it by fiddling with the TV set's own settings. It was a Sony Bravia and there was a "Cine-something" under "Video" for fps rates or synchronization or whatever. The setting was on "Auto". I turned it off altogether, and after that the Downton Abbey played as smoothly as other titles.

My computer is authorised however some of the songs that I have downloaded wont play?

I have just downloaded some music from Itunes. Some of the songs will play but some say that I need to authorise the computer. I put in the details, it comes up with a box that says 'the computer is already authorised and that I have used 4 or the 5 authorisations available' however the songs will not play. It a repeating loop, I click on the song and it tells me that I need to authorise again. All of the songs were downloaded at the same time to the same computer?

Interestingly I have been into the Itunes Store and looked at the items that I have downloaded and they seem to play fine. But in the library it keeps saying that I need to authorise the computer when it is already authorised. I have already deleted it and re-installed it but nothing...... When I go to the track that doesnt work there is nor Purchased By information (although the apple ID is present). The other songs that do work, do have the Purchased By information. Will this be the cause of the problem? how on earlth do I get around it?
