Transient blue screen since printer added

I've had my Mac mini since April and I've been very happy with it. I purchased a printer for printing documents and photos-an Epson R300. It said to use the CD to install prior to plugging it in to the mini via the USB. Even though I'm used to the ease of Apple installation (just plugging in things like a pc monitor, keyboard and mouse and needing no CD drivers), I did as the printer instructions required. Since the install, I've experienced the appearance of a blue screen. The first time, it took me back to the "blue screen of death" days on my old pc. But the blue screen lasted only briefly, and the desktop came back. I am also seeing it while browsing, or even using applications. I've unplugged the printer, and it was shut off when I did have it plugged in. I feel it is due to the CD driver (and other software I installed. I am afraid to do the same for my new iBook G4. Anyone know why this is occurring and how I can remedy the situation. I don't like seeing blank blue screens-even briefly.
Thanks.
~margaret

Hi Magaret,
Your included printer drivers may not be Tiger-compatible which could be causing this blue screen...though I've never heard of a situation like this before. :\ Your best bet would to download any updated drivers from Epson's website and then trying to reinstall. According to the Tiger website, your printer's drivers aren't automatically included with Tiger. My printer isn't listed (a Stylus CX5400), but it installed perfectly with the upgrade from Panther. So uninstall any software that's relevant to your printer, and then either reinstall with Epson's updated drivers, or see if Apple included any with Tiger. Let me know how this works! Good luck.

  • Photosmart 6510 Printer error/Blue screen on printer display Code:B864F472

    Hello
I'm having a reoccurring problem with my HP Photosmart 6510 all-in-one. The printer will stay on for about five minutes, give or take, and proceed to flash a blue screen (on printer display) with error code B864F472
Next the screen displays a "Printer Error" message followed by "Please turn printer off and then on" with all lights on the printer flashing.
It will display this until I cycle the power and it repeats the same behavior after about five minutes.
I've searched extensively for a solution and have tried multiple things. Such as:
-Unplugging from back of printer and wall, 30 sec wait then plug back in.
-Clean cartridge and print header contacts.
    -Set static IP.
-Printed various reports from service mode, No errors, Excellent signal strength.
    -Connected to laptop through USB.
    -Partial reset, Semi-Full reset.
    -Reinstalled drivers on all computers.
    -Updated firmware/software on printer itself.
-Ran HP Print and Scan Doctor.
    -Reset Router
I'm at a loss now. The unit is just over a year old. I have two laptops and a desktop on the same network. Two computers running Windows 8.1 64-bit and the other Windows 7 64-bit.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

All seems to work before the 5 minuts (I can print diagnostic page from the PC), then I think it a microcode problem ...

  • Pavilion dv6-3130tx Blue Screen (BSOD) on adding RAM to second slot

    Hi there,
I own a HP Pavilion dv6-3130tx with total of 3gb of RAM, one 1GB chip and one 2 GB chip. Recently I have been getting a lot of system crashes/freezes and occasional Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) with a variety of error messages. On contacting HP care in India they said to check the RAM chips and the slot for any problem. I have identified that the second slot is one creating the problem as the system crashes if use any one of the chips on that slot while both the RAMs work fine on the other slot.
Additionaly the RAM port/slot cannot be replaced as such, and since it is out of warranty getting the motherboard replaced isn't an alternative either.
So does anyone have any idea what might be the best way out of this problem?

Did the 3GB of RAM come with the computer or did you upgrade it at some point?
What version of Windows are you using?

  • Blue screen while printing to PDF with Adobe

    Hi,
I'm using Adobe Acrobat to produce PDF files. A few days ago, all of the sudden, each time I try to create a PDF with the virtual printer, I get a "Blue Screen Of Death" reporting some problem on the win32k.sys file.
I'm using Windows Vista Professional 32 bits and Adobe Acrobat 9.
    Best regards.

Which version of AA9. There have been 7 updates or so. You might try a repair and then do any uninstalled updates (in order, they are not cummulative). The repair may resolve the issue or you may have run into some other bug that the updates might fix.

  • HELP - Laptop constantly blue screens since installed new E4200

I posted earlier about problems with a laptop connected to an E4200.  I am connecting to our wireless network and then using AT&T Global Dialer to access my company's network via VPN.  I have two desktops using the wireless network with absolutely no problems but the laptop constantly blue screens and/or loses the VPN connection.  This started the day we installed the new router.   Today I noticed that when I view all of the available wireless networks on the laptop, I see two of them for our home network (in addition to all of my neighbors' networks).  The duplicate SSID's have different MAC's and are on different channels.  Could this be causing my problem?  We had an older Linksys router prior to the E4200 and had absolutely no problems with the laptop.  Is this because the E4200 is dual band?  Would I be better off without this feature?
When I view the available wireless networks on my desktop, I only see the one home network, not two.  I also see only one of our neighbors' instead of six or seven (not sure if this is significant).  I don't know why the laptop sees two but the desktop sees one.  Any suggestions from anyone for this?
I called technical support and all they wanted to do was sell me an extended warranty.  She wouldn't or couldn't answer my question about why the laptop saw two SSID's for my network and whether this could be causing me problems.

Well, I connected the laptop to the guest network and haven't had any problems since.  I left it up about 5 1/2 hours last night and it stayed connected with no blue screens.  So far, so good this morning, although I can't say definitively it is fixed because once it went a whole day without blue screening, and once it only had problems one time during the work day.  However, five to six times a day had become the norm, so I am hopeful.
I am convinced that the problem is that it could see two networks with the same name.  Probably those are there because it is a dual brand router and one is 2.4 and the other 5 ghz, but I don't know how to tell for sure.
I can't change the wifi card on my laptop because it belongs to my company.  I did check to make sure it could handle 5ghz and it can.  I also have the latest version of the firmware.
I have searched and searched the internet and it seems I am the only person in this world having this problem.  If anyone has any ideas for anything else to check, that would be great, just in case connecting as a guest doesn't work long term.  I did check the settings and they are the same for 2.4 and 5 ghz, so why do I see two networks on the laptop, while I see only one on the desktops?  I am using Thankvantage Access Connections on the laptop.

  • Blue screen since update to Tiger!

Hi, we have had 2 x desktop G5's give us a blue screen after upgrading from 10.3.9 to Tiger. Constant restarts don't resolve the problem. Any suggestions eagerly awaited, thanks!

How did you install Tiger on these Macs? Did you use a retail copy of the Tiger DVD (& do you have a Tiger license for each Mac) or did you try some other method?

  • A660 still Blue screens, already 'repaired', advice?

I got my a660 late September, early October, and I've been having random blue screens since I got it. I love it; it's very fast, works great... other than the blue screens.
I had been getting stop errors around every day (I spend a lot of time on this thing) before I sent it in during January. I got it back with a repair notice saying 'Hard drive failed tests, needed to be replaced and reimaged. New hard drive passed all tests' then checks by some random tests they do (BIOS and things) where it passed. All seemed well; I got most of my programs reinstalled. However about a week later, I got a blue screen again.
Before the replacement, I had been getting two different stop errors:
    Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error of 0x0000007A
and something about a crucial thread terminated with 0x000000F4. This one started up a couple months after the first, so I assume it was the bad sectors on the hard drive that did it.
Both errors still appeared even after a fresh back to box reinstall, with absolutely nothing running.
I haven't seen the crucial thread terminated error yet, but the kernel error has reared its ugly head again.
    Here's where it gets tricky.
I've done two different RAM tests, both showed up clean. I ran the normal Windows one for about 40 hours (10 laps, I think) and the memtest86x one for just over 10 hours, which ended up being 9 laps.
I've had this hard drive, which was tested, for 2 weeks now, so it shouldn't be that. I'm running a checkdisc process later this evening just in case.
I updated a ton of drivers (however not the Intel chipset's, since I can't figure out my exact model)
My worst problem is the fact that when it blue screens, it prepares to write the crash dump but fails, then attempts a restart, where it either just sits at a black screen with the white cursor, or after some time just pops up a partially grey screen that claims the HDD/SDD 'is failed'. Though it's fine with an immediate restart on a power down. I can't get a mini-dump to help check what's causing it, but i've photographed (terribly, on my cell phone) a couple of the errors.
    My latest one reads
    ***Stop: 0x0000007A (0x00000000000000020, 0xFFFFFFFFC0000090, 0xFFFFFA-cut off-
    x0000000000000000)
Though this is old, the critical errors said:
    Stop: 0x000000F4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xFFFFFA800814CB30, 0xFFFFFA80081-cut off-
    -cut off-800037C75D0)
Any ideas? I'm running out of them, and I don't want to send it in, having it missing a month, and get it back not actually repaired, or with a temporary fix. (That and the call centers have really hard to understand accents, and I think they think the same of me. It was very hard for either of us to communicate :C )

I have finally managed a successful dump of a Kernel Data failure.
After doing exessive amounts of testing for everything else, I think I have a faulty connection somewhere?
I used bluescreenview and have a second parameter of
0xC000009D, or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED, indicates defective or loose cabling, termination, or that the controller does not see the hard disk.
Which confirms a bad wire? I've added the minidump to this reply, if anyone can weed anymore information out of it.
I got a new 'error' when it was trying to reboot, stating a "Boot failed" and a quick display of "check cables".
Is this something I could take it to get fixed, I wonder, or will I have to send it in? I want this fixed, since the problem's likely been found, and I really love this laptop otherwise.
    Also:
"Something weird about the Intel drivers for Toshiba devices, is that Toshiba modifies the drivers for the intel chipsets, so you cannot use the generic drivers off of the intel website"
Which is my other problem. I can't update because I can't figure out my specific model. There's several a660s available and I don't want to grab the wrong one.

  • ITunes causing Blue Screen of Death

Okay, I am running Vista, as it was my only option at the computer store. At random times in iTunes it will freeze and cause the blue screen of death. This is a serious problem for me because I have poured a couple hundred dollars into iTunes and now I can't even consistently get the stuff I bought because it may cause my system to crash. I have tried the latest version of iTunes, and the 7.2 version, and they both cause the same problem.
    Thanks

I had the same problem last night. This started when I began downloading podcasts to my iPhone. Received the blue screen when iTunes began to sync with the iPhone. I'm going to try removing the podcast subscriptions and see if the blue screens stop. I have been running other basic Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and standard HP software with no problems until this occurred. I have not had any other blue screens since I bought the HP in June.
As a separate issues, I can not play any podcasts on iTunes for more than a couple a seconds. iTunes terminates prematurely. I'm using the latest iTunes software.

  • Constant Crash / Blue screen reboot

I just purchased this P505-S8010 2 weeks ago  Everything was great for the first couple of days.  Then it crashed and rebooted I didn't think about now 2 weeks later its crashing all the time.  Does any one have a clue?  Or should I just return it and start over.  I have installed Office 2007, Adobe Photoshop and Corel draw.  that's it.  HELP?

If you can, return it.  Run to the store to return it.  My P505 has been blue-screening since March and will be going back for it's 4th visit to the repair depot.  The longest I have had it before shipping it back was 2 weeks.  the shortest was 5 minutes.    I'm told they will not extend the warranty and until such time as Toshibe decides it is not repairable, I will get neither a replacement nor a refund, we just continue the cycle of I call, they send a box, I send to them, they take less than a day to fix, send back to me.  Only people profiting from this is UPS and ASUS, whom I bought a netbook to use while mine spends to much time traveling the country.

Waking up from sleep with blue screen
Since a few days my MBP wakes up from sleep by showing a blue screen for 30 seconds or more, instead of jumping to the login window (password needed after sleep)
I looked in the forums for blue screen but found many problems non related to this.
    Any ideas?
Could it have to do with the fact that about 4 days ago I upgraded to 4.8 from 4.7?

I have only seen this BLUE SCREEN since I installed this security update.
    It's the very latest one.
The Blue Screen is not my only problem:
I have had two system crashes (computer waking up with DARWIN window error, fixed when I re-booted).
Scrolling has slowed down in some applications.
The update in Microsoft Office vX was reverted, yesterday I received a message that said: Welcome to Microsoft Office (how can it welcome me when I have been using it every day for the past 15 years?)

  • Jdeveloper 11 bring blue screen in Windows7?

I installed Jdeveloper11 and JDK6u16 on Windows7(RTM from MSDN) yesterday.
When I started Jdeveloper, it reported error to integrate Weblogic. Blue screen happen after it hang up for a while. It's the first time I saw blue screen since Windows XP. Wonderful!
Is there any solution let Jdeveloper run on Win7?

    Hi!
I'm using it with Win7 RC. You should start it in compatibility mode or manually modify the wls scripts (loog in the log window and you will see the script path) to include 8.3 file path fomrat instead of long filenames format for JDK path. Also, you may need to enable single user mode for JDev depending on you Win 7 config for default user folder.
Still, you may encounter a number of bugs / strange behaviours as JDev and WLS is not programmed windows / long files friendly and surely not Win 7 friendly for now :)

  • Each time I connect to my IBM computer it crashes with blue screen error message pops up. Apple say that it's my printer/camera drivers. The problem is with iTunes, it likes to play with all the ports on my comp and conflicts with prnt drivers. How to fix

Does anyone know how to fix this problem without disabling my printer. It's very frustrating. It's either I have my iPad or my printer. iTunes likes to play with the ports on my computer thereby causing a conflict with my printer drivers. Apple should fix this problem, I'm so annoyed.

When this problem first happened, I searched for threads and found a few.  See be;ow links:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1502
Apple say that its a driver problem, but I've never had this problem before so I am not convinced. Another thread, which I can't seem to find, suggests that it is an apple problem - itunes plays with the ports on the company causing conflicts with existing drivers. I isolated the conflict to my new Samsung printer. I uninstalled the Samsung printer driver and then can successfully connect my ipad without the blue screen appearing.
It's not a windows problem. Windows is working fine. Only happens when Ipad is connected. Actually, this first happened after I installed the new version of itunes. I reget installing the new itunes version, but don't know how to reinstall the previous itunes version.
