Transition Conflict on VI When I Delete A 5 Second Sound Effect ?

I inserted a Cartoon Boing sound effect all by itself on A3/A4 in my HDV project.
When I decided to delete it (successfully) I got a warning - "Transition Conflict on V1".
I am not doing anything with V1 and this solitary sound effect is not connected with anything else.
Why the warning?
Sorry! I have just realised that I am editing HDV natively in FCP 6.0.3 and have posted this in the wrong forum - but no doubt this warning applies equally to FCE and FCP.

As you've noted, the issue is related to the different commands represented by the Forward Delete and Backspace Delete keys ... the Forward Delete is a "Ripple" Delete .. the Backspace Delete is a "Lift" Delete.
In this instance, when you perform a ripple delete of a clip on your audio track, then FCP wants to keep everything sync'd up across all tracks ... but it cant because there are clips in the way on V1. hence the warning that the operation would cause a clip collision

When using side buttons, volumes says sound effects

Not sure what happened here. Is it a mistake by a 3 year old or a bug issue. Started about a month ago that when i open apps that have sound the volume goes mute, meaning sound and keyboard and lock too. Even when i close the app down and open say a video type app, there will be no sound. I will push the side buttons and the gray box that should say volume says sound effect. Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
1. Go to Settings
2. Tap on General
3. Tap on Reset
4. Tap on Reset All Settings
What this effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy. It doesn’t affect your data. All of your email accounts will remain intact, as well as any SMS text or iMessages.

Soundbooth closes down when trying to download sound effects

When i try to download a sound effect from the resource central, as soon as i click the download button Soundbooth closes down without any error message.
Any idea of what's the problem and how to fix it?
I use Windows XP and have java RE installed.

Hi Sam,
Do you mean it closes when you click the "arrow" icon in Resource Central, or does it close after you get the File Dialog asking where you'd like to save the file?
Resource Central is a Flash application, so you may want to make certain you've got the latest Flash runtime installed from www.adobe.com It should have gotten installed or updated when you installed Soundbooth, but it's possible it did not. I'd recommend this as my first suggestion.
Second suggestion would be to try saving to a different location and see if you encounter the same issue.

Transition Conflict Message When Rippling

I've got a rough cut laid out, and when I attempt to ripple some clips, I get a mesage like: Transition Confilct on A5. Well, A5 (and A6) contains .caf audio that is completely independent of the clip on V1 that I'm trying to ripple. Roll works fine, but that's not what I need. Also, I can use the select tool to shorten the clip, but obviously that leaves a gap that I don't want. Any ideas what causes this bug?
Also, on some of the clips, instead of a Transition Conflict, I'll get a Clip Collision error...

FCP makes it difficult to go out of sync.. it' not a bug, it's a feature actually.
Any time you attempt to shorten a video clip, you must also shorten the audio tracks or past that change the sequence will be out of sync.
If you don't care about that, just lock the audio tracks and then perform the ripple.

I tried deleting FireFox and reinstalling it multiple times, and a message pops up sometimes that says FireFox may not have installed correctly, so I follow the steps, but all the extra icons on my desktop don't go away. This has happened every time I have downloaded FireFox. The browser itself works, but I need to know how to get rid of these icons, but still be able to use FireFox. This is on a new computer, with Windows 7.

Managed to solve this myself. Just went to properties > hidden.

When I delete duplicates how do I know which version is the original song and which is the duplicate?

I have recently transfered all my music to a new computer and duplicates have appeared in my itunes. I have chosen to 'show exact duplicates' so that it is easier for me to delete, but I can't work out which version of the song I need to delete. (When I click to delete on the top version a box appears stating 'move to recycle bin', but when I click on the second version the box which appears just says 'delete file from itunes.')
Also - does any one know where these duplicates have emerged from?!?

Apple's official advice on duplicates is here... HT2905: How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls such as lost ratings and playlist membership.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin.
Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background, this post for detailed instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
(If you don't see the menu bar press ALT to show it temporarily or CTRL+B to keep it displayed.)
The most recent version of the script can tidy dead links as long as there is at least one live duplicate to merge stats and playlist membership to and should cope sensibly when the same file has been added via multiple paths.

Hi Melissa - thanks for your interest. Here's the first frame, the second frame and the tween frame. I don't understand why the tween is changing the position of the object in frame 2, was expecting it to just fade from one frame to the next.

If you forgot your encryption password:
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.
If you can't remember the password and want to start again, you must perform a full software restore and chooseset up as a new device when iTunes prompts you to select the backup from which to restore.
