Transition Delay

I'm doing a complex multi-projector presentation that has been running famously on three seperate computers with three seperate projectors.
I do have problem with one transition which is from a JPEG image which slides off then a Quicktime movie "appears" as well as an .wav file. this particular transition has no other builds on it or transitions.
The Quicktime file is the largest one of them all though.(there are several other of these same transitions throughout the presentation.)
Could it be possible that the coaxial cable is just too long for the video card to push the signal through and it is operating at the margin?
That particular computer is a MacBook Pro.
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Cable length shouldn't affect transition speed or delay. Does this delay occur after the presentation has been run through once? Keynote seems to cache some material after the first run, speeding up load times on later presentations. Is the QT movie on a separate slide, or is it on the same slide as the JPEG image? If the former, you might try re-creating the transition as an animation, so that the JPEG and movie both load on the same slide -- this would at least shift any delay to prior to the JPEGs appearance, which might let you work around it.

  • Movie within Keynote, export to quicktime transition delay

I have a very strange problem I can't seem to figure out. I create a Keynote presentation every week that is used to show our announcements at our church. I create the keynote with automatic advancement, then export it to a quicktime movie (which is then put on an iPod and used to project at church). It wall works very well and I have used this for several years. Here's my problem:
I inserted a movie into a slide in Keynote, the movie is about 30 seconds long and I am playing about 10 to 15 seconds of it. I then have the slide transition to another slide. When I play the keynote it all seems to work great - however, when I export the movie via quicktime, it plays through the movie then hangs for 10 seconds or so at the end of the movie before making the transition to the next slide. It is apparently "stuck" for that time. I have played around with every setting I could find to see if I could get it to work right but nothing changed this behavior. I tried shortening the movie length under the quicktime tab in the inspector, changing the delay in the slide tab in the inspector, nothing.
To make matters worse I apparently can't just cut out the 10 seconds of offending material via quicktime pro as it somehow only registers by the slide number and I cannot get the index arrow to pick a portion of the movie to splice.
Its all very frustrating - I've spent about 3 hours on this silly thing this evening telling myself "it can't be this hard." But either I am really missing the obvious, or there is a bug in Keynote, or this just can't be done.
BTW I am using Keynote 09.
Any help would be very appreciated. For tonight I've given up on the movie and just cut that part out.
    thanks.

You've found one of my frustrations...here's the way it works:
In keynote, you MUST set the slide delay for a movie to stay on screen, and you can see that you're able to transition before the movie is done by cutting the delay shorter than the movie. The draw back is, if you want the whole movie to play, you MUST set the delay to at least the same length as the movie.
When exporting to QT, this doesn't work. The export forces the movie to play in its entirety. If you weren't trying to cut the movie short, you'd still have to remove your auto advance delay so that it transitions after the movie plays. This is why you're seeing that long hold, it's counting your movie length AND the delay time you added in Keynote.
The only thing I can suggest is removing that transition delay and living with the movie playing through to the end. You could always trim the movie in QT Pro and use that in Keynote I suppose.

  • Transition Delays following movie clips in Exported Quicktimes (Solution)

My problem was that I would add a quicktime clip into Keynote, and set the slide's length to match the clip length. This worked when previewing in Keynote, but when I exported to Quicktime, there would be a delay once the clip ended, and the next slide would be held up...
I discovered a work around, in that if I set the slide that holds the clip to have no delay, the QT playback finishes without a pause.
Of course there's the problem that this presentation is now useless for running straight out of Keynote, but if you're aiming for a Quicktime output, you now now what to do.
Hope this helps some of you.
    Cheers
    Toby

I may have found the answer to my own question in PP FAQ. Have not tested this procedure, however.

  • Chapter markers cause a transition delay or pause in DVD

No matter where I place my chapter markers on DVD Studio Pro 4– for I've been advised NOT to put them where assets join together– when I burn to disc there is always a pause at each chapter marker during playback. How do you resolve this problem?

As Eric said - you don't need to add any commands at all - the disc will play through the chapter end point and start the next chapter automatically. Any command you place there will take a short amount of time to be 'read' by the player and enacted, and this is what is causing your pauses. Remove all commands from the chapter markers and you should be good to go.

  • Duration & Delay Fields In Keynote 5.0.3

I downloaded the iWork update via Software Update and now I'm unable to type in custom delay or duration times in Keynote 5.0.3! I've noticed that the possibility to edit fields have been going back and forth in recent updates...I'm still able to use the up/down arrows, but who wants to do that if it's a significant change, or a custom timing?
    Anyone else notice this?

I'm seeing the same problem. Keynote 5.0.3. When I enter a number into the transition delay field, move away from the slide, then back, it will be back at 0.0. If I click from zero up to where I want it, it seems to stay. Pretty tedious for longish delays!

  • Delaying ISE Posture / Remediation

Hi, we have a requirement where we would like to add a small delay for about 10 - 15 seconds to the time it takes for the NAC agent to attempt remediation of the client.
    Is this possible?
What seems to happen at the moment is that an error appears on the NAC agent during remediation advising of a Networking issue during remediation. This is because we have a proxy server and you must have elevated priveledges to download certain file types from the internet such as executables.
To get round the limitation of the NAC agent not being able to be configured to use its own Web Proxy settings with a user account with more priveledges, we use different locations in our AV product so that once the AV Product realises that the Laptop is connected to the wireless it changes the location to "wireless" and applies the correct web proxy settings so that AV updates can be downloaded.
However, the NAC agent is trying to remediate quicker than the AV product can change the location and apply the new web proxy settings.
    Hope that makes sense.

    Hello Mario,
You can customize remediation timeout settings for your requirement. Please review the following:
    Remediation Timeout Customization
    Parameter
    Default Value
    Valid Range
    Description or   Behavior
    Remediation   timer
    4
    1-300
Specifies    the number of minutes the user has to remediate any failed posture  assessment   checks on the client machine before having to go through  the entire login   process over again.
    Network   Transition Delay
    3
    2-30
Specifies    the number of seconds the agent should wait for network transition  (IP   address change) before beginning the remediation timer countdown.
Note When    you use the "Enable agent IP refresh after VLAN change" option,    Cisco ISE sends "DHCP release delay" and "DHCP renew   delay" settings  (as specified below) instead of using the "Network   transition delay"  setting used for Windows agent profiles. If you do not   use the "Enable  agent IP refresh after VLAN change" option, Cisco ISE   sends "Network  transition delay" timer settings to client machines,   but Cisco ISE  will not send both.
For more detail understanding on this, please visit the section  Configure Client Provisioning Policies > Remediation Timeout  Customization at the following location in ISE user guide -  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/ise/1.1.1/user_guide/ise_client_prov.html#wp1134841
You may also want to review more options that you can customize in Configure Client Provisioning Policies section.

  • Automatic transition at end of video?

I would like to have Keynote automatically change to the next slide when a video on the current slide is done playing. Anyone know whether this is possible?
I have tried using the transition delay, but there is some confusing interaction between the delays in the build process and the transition delay, so I have not been able to achieve acceptable results. It would all be much easier if I could just have the transition begin immediately after the video has completed, but I cannot find a way to make this happen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nope, currently, there's no reliable way to make a slide transition occur just as a movie ends. If the movie is fairly short, it's closer to accurate, but the longer the movie, the wider the variance in timings from play to play.
I'd recommend sending feedback to Apple.

  • Is it possible to record slide transition timing but not narrative?

I'm working on a presentation and will be receiving a recorded audio soundtrack that will need to play for the entire presentation. I figured out how to delay the transitions so I can pace the slides to the soundtrack. However, when I try to export so it is a self-contained movie or flash file, I can't find an option that maintains the different transition delays. It either has to be manual (which isn't what we want) or a fixed timing (which won't work with the soundtrack).
And if I try to record the timing, it also records the ambient noise in my office. Is there a way to record the timing but not the narration? Or, a way to export with custom delays? For the first showing, the presentation will be able to be run from Keynote, but we want to be able to distribute afterwards as we anticipate people will want to take the presentation back to their companies to share it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

    Welcome to the Forum.
<<And if I try to record the timing, it also records the ambient noise in my office. Is there a way to record the timing but not the narration? >>
Go to the System Preferences > Sound > Input menu and select Line In. Then set the Input Volume control to zero. Now you can record with no audio input.
    Good luck.

  • Keynote Import slide transition timers

I was told to post here Re: Keynote Import slide transition timers
Can the transition times for a presentation can be inserted with automator  or can it be imported from a CSV sort of file.
The way I did this in Powerpoint was I created a static array with all slides timer I wanted, later looped through each slide and set the timer. can similar thing can be done in Keynote with applescript
Re: Keynote Import slide transition timers
    I also posted here, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/27495413/applescript-to-set-transition-timers
I got one example but that gives me errors.
    Thanks for your help

Here is the solution for people who care, i figured out a way with some help from stackexchange forum
    tell application "Keynote"
set ss to slides of document 1
set c to count of ss
        set timerlist to {5, 4, 3, 9, 6}
        set n to 1
        repeat until n > c
set timer to item n of timerlist
            set transition properties of item n of ss to {transition delay:timer, automatic transition:true, transition effect:no transition effect, transition duration:0.5}
            set n to n + 1
        end repeat
    end tell

  • Automatic slide transition timing

I'm putting together a presentation with multiple actions on each slide. The actions are all timed and I want each slide to be displayed for exactly 30 seconds before transition to the next slide.
But I can't figure out how to set this up. Is the automatic slide transition delay timed from the when the slide appears or when the last action finishes? I tried working it out both ways and it doesn't make sense.
    e.g
I have a slide where a picture appears after 20 seconds. I then set the auto slide transition to 10 seconds. I expected the slide to change at 30s but it actually does it nearer 40s?
    What's going on?
    Thanks

I tried a new experiment with a fresh, new Keynote presentation. Plain white background. Three words that animate, each On Click. Move In, Bottom to Top. .2 second speed. Dragged my WAV narration file to the slide. Recorded the presentation, animating each word manually at the appropriate point in the narration. Playing back the recording in Keynote looks and sounds as intended. Exported to QuickTime. Narration starts, first animation doesn't appear in time. As soon as first animation appears, audio cuts off completely. Other two animations appear, with no audio.
I even tried a different font this time (a standard OS X font). This can't be a problem with my presentation file.
Something is wrong with the QuickTime exporting function. I'd love to know if anyone has had success (visuals and audio in sync) exporting to QuickTime after importing your narration (or sounds) by dropping an audio file on the slide.

    Nancy,
    You are God!
    It worked!
    Thanks.
I have a dumb basic question which is sort of related to your shambles comment, which I don't deny is true.
I am confused about whether style.css files get affiliated with each separate HTML page or whether there is just one style.css file that is affiliated with all my HTML pages. If they are separate CSS files, how do I separate each style.css file?
    Best, P.

  • Open return orders in sd module

    hi all,
can any one explain me wht are open return orders in sd module and also credit memo issued for opem return order and goods receipt processed against the delivery.
if possible can u explain me with example.
                                         thanks

    Hi Dilip,
    1. Return orders are created with reference to sales orders which have been rejected due to some reasons. There are many reasons as to why a sales order is rejected like incorrect deliveries, Damages during transits, Delayed deliveries, etc. Before the finance department processes them these return orders are blocked by applying a billing block. Such documents which havent been cleared by the finance department are called Open Return Orders.
A credit memo is released by the vendor based upon pre sales agreements since the customer has to be paid for the return orders.
    Ex:
Lets assume there is a textile company. They have three Plants producing Textiles at three different locations (A, B and C). They get raw material like dyes, buttons and zips from third party supplier. An agreement was made with the supplier to send a consignment of 100 Litres of Dye and 10 Cartons of buttons to Plant B. A sales order (SD01) was created based on this consignment. But the Dye reaches plant C instead of Plant B. So a return order is created for the sales order (SD01) and a billing block is applied to it. Then the return order is considered to be open for review. Once the finance guys validate the document and approve it the order is closed and released.
Once that is received by the Vendor he issues a credit memo to the Textiles company since he has to cover for the wrong deliveries and loss of production hours.
I hope your doubt is cleared, Reward if helpful.

  • Export Quicktime = stalling / frame rate / dropped frames

Firstly this issue isn't news. It appears it has existed since 2002 at least on these forums and Apple has done nothing.
    Exporting to Quicktime:
    1) Keynote makes up what seem to be consistent random frame rates on export
    - Codec doesn't matter. Photo JPG, Intermediate, 8bit 422, H264
    - You can set the frame rate in export / custom / settings it doesn't matter
    - Having no video on a slide or having video on a slide doesn't change the problem...
    - The last two items do have more information to complete their story
    - If you do have a video on slide at say 25fps and export (at same rate) the random will stabilise
but it will stabilise to something bizarre, such as 23.69.
    - So Keynote can wreck your frame rate it will drop frames, or even add frames while dropping
others. It is deeply sophisticated in how it destroys stuff on export.
    Result
    - is a stuttering output if embed video on a slide with a wrecked frame rate
    - and a random frame rate if you don't have a video embed
    2) The video stalls between slides
    - Keynote seems to play a trick by making a single frame span multiple frames
    - At the start of the first slide this seems to vary. The first frame can be between 7 and 33
frames depending on some strange internal logic only known to Keynote
    - Between slides it will hold the last frame of the exiting slide usually for 7 frames and hold
the first frame of the entering slide for usually the same amount.
    - No amount of change to settings such as transition delay, adding a transition, self play etc
will effect this stalling from what I can tell.
    - You can analyse the reality of the issue by dropping the resulting file into Quicktime 7 and
changing the video window "time code" display to frames by clicking on it and single framing
through the video. I have Quicktime Pro for the record.
    Notes:
    - I have every update installed and am running 10.6.2
    - I have tried it on two machines, one a clean build, server or client
    - Playing the presentation direct in Keynote does not present any of the noted issues
    - I have spent the better part of two weeks on the issue trying all sorts of combinations
    - Video of different frames rates, sizes, codecs. All useless, don't bother.
    Outcome:
    - Keynote is completely useless unless you just want to play a presentation in it
    - Dropped frames, stuttering video, stalling, mangled frame rates, fake frames
    Solutions that aren't:
    - One suggestion for video embeds is to enter a strange custom frame rate. For example a
24fps original turns into a 23.69 export, if you up the frame rate to 24.3 the resulting export
    is 24fps.
This is a truly hit and miss affair and will require a lot of testing to nail it. Unfortunately I
tested the resulting video frame count in Quicktime against the original video and...
The amount of frames is not the same. Part of my assumption is that the stalled pad frames
are being considered by Keynote and it drops some frames to fake the same length, that at
least -seems- to be part of the result, but it doesn't account for all the lost frames.
    - I have also tried just having one slide and exporting that. The same things happen regardless
How Al Gore managed to make "inconvenient truth" using Keynote is a complete mystery. Maybe on Tiger with some old version it used to work, yet from the forums it would appear it has never worked. This piece of software is a clear case of "it just doesn't work"
I hope you find this and stop hurting yourself trying to make this. I might hurt on a bit longer yet.

I can't answer in detail (I started with version 6, which I haven't used in years, so don't know what v5 did) but... a general comment
Software that old is very likely going to struggle trying to edit a VOB/MPG file copies from a DVD
If you are digitizing by playing the DVD through a conversion device you should end up with DV AVI which should edit well
Just what kind of files are you trying to edit?

  • How do i change the amount of time for slides in a keynote presentation so they are not the same

how do i vary the times for the slides in a keynote presentation, i have 3 videos i need to run longer and the slides I want to run the same

Is this for an unattended presentation?
    1. If not, the option would seem to be:
Manually advance the slides containing the videos or
set the transition delay time to the next slide to occur after the video completes using the
Slide > Transition Inspector > Delay (max delay is 600 seconds so if video is longer than 10 minutes, an automatic delay wouldn't work)
    2. If you plan this to be unattended your best bet is to compile it in iMovie and have a looping video with all parts timed in the video to your liking.

  • Exporting to QT on Keynote with embedded narration or audio files doesn't work

When I create a Keynote presentation, I often publish them for viewing after the presenttion.  I have been making presentations for a long time and never had luck with Keynote using narration.  When you edit a narration, it first "appears" to erase everything from the point you choose to edit forward.   However, when you finalize the presentation and export to QT as a movie (yes the edits sound fine when you are using keynote itself) EVERY PREVIOUSLY RECORDED TAKE on each slide will playback at the same time making the audio incomprehensible.  I'm using a 2013 2.3 GHz quad core i7 with 16 GB DDR3 and the newest Keynote 6.01 2013.   Narration has NEVER worked properly on any previous version, and still doesn't.
I had some advice to try recording QT audio and adding to the slide.  Now, when recording to Quicktime, it does embed it, but in recording the presentation, it either doubles up the audio giving a strange echo or does the same thing if you ever edit the presentation.
Keynote is simply a buggy inferior product for use in recording presentations as far as I am concerned, and I am very very disappointed in Apple for not figuring these issues out.   It's not a new product, and it's not as if most educators are not participating in on-line posting or sharing their work as movies for later viewing by students.
I'd appreciate hearing what others do to work around these issues before heading back to Powerpoint or having to make complex i Movies with slides as images and adding qt narration to the movies.   Keynote claims to do this... it just but I've never encountered an apple product with more bugs.

The problem Keynote has is that the sound and image content are not locked together which causes out of sync errors. This is why many users choose video editing applications when using sound in the presentations, as they have both image and audio tracks to sync sound properly together.
Start a new presentation to remove the previous sound recording, Keynote is holding onto the other sound files.
Add the graphic items to each slide and one sound file to each slide for the voice over
1 - In Inspector > Transitions;  use start transitions automatically and set each transitions delay to the duration of the individual sound file.
2 - In QT export, set Fixed Timing and delete the value in the duration box, QT will then use the custom timings for each individual slide.
This procedure does work exactly as needed, Iv used this for nearly 6 years using 4 different versions of Keynote.
