Transition from 2.5

2 questions:
1. I have an extensive list of Catelogs in the left panel in Library and they used to tell me how many pics I had in each one but now in LR 3 it only gives me "...". Do I need to bring in the old 2.5 version a different way for 3 to read everything? What did I do wrong? I just told 3 to read the Metadata from disk for every photo.
2. What is the best method to find out how to do things differently in 3 versus the old 2.5 as well as the new tools - a certain book, a web site, the help file?
I'm just trying to make the mental upgrade and trying to figure out the easiest way to learn about this software upgrade.

Unfortunately LR3, unlike LR2, recounts the folders on every launch and this can be rather slow. So, you're not doing anything wrong, except not being patient enough for LR3.

Well, seems I managed to unscrew this...I deleted my iCloud mail account and reinstalled it on my phone. That got rid of the duplicate .me/.mac email accounts.

Is there a way to extract the transitions from the trailers in iMovie '11 to use in my own movie?

I want to create an iMovie, and I'd like to use bits and pieces from the different movie trailers templates. Is there a way for me to extract just the transitions from these trailers.
I don't want to use the trailers themselves as they are now because the options are too limited in respect to how I can create the movie. For example, there are times where I only want two words on the screen, but I am forced to use three instead. Also, I would like to delete such things as "cast" and "credits," but it doesn't seems like I can do that either.

No there is not.
You could create a trailer, share it and then re-import and cut out just the pieces you want, but I don't think that's what you're looking for.

Occasional sharp 'beep' sound when transition from a photo to a video

Hi guys-
I've been looking everywhere trying to solve this without any luck (doesnt seems like many out there with such problem).
I'm compiling a video for a family event (comprising of still photos and video clips) but i noticed that occasionally when the compilation play from a still to a video clip- it'll emit a sharp 'beep' noise.
This is what i checked and confirm so far-
1. it happens only when moving from a photo to a video (but not always occur).
2. the video clip has original sound volume set to 0.
3. original video clip does not contain the beep.
4. background song does not contain the beep.
5. not all transition from photo following video produce such beep.
6. the beep still happens even with the background song removed (technically no voice element in the project).
Can anyone share any ideas/experience around this?

Does this happen just when playing in iMovie, or after you've rendered the video into a finalized stand-alone file? If you haven't exported the movie yet, I'd try that and see if the beep is still there.

The transition from iPhone 3Gs to iPhone 4

I purchased my iPhone 3GS not long ago and as such had to pay $399.99 when I purchased my new iPhone 4.
When my new iPhone 4 arrives from Apple what should I expect to have to do in order to get my ATT service transitioned from the 3GS to the iPhone 4? Will the new iPhone 4 come with a new SIM card that already has my current iPhone 3Gs phone number on it? Will I have to move the SIM card from the 3GS to the iPhone 4? Will I need to contact ATT to have service on the 3GS turned off?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It's really easy, you will need to backup your 3GS prior, then you would connect the iPhone 4 to iTunes and it will walk you through the process. It will ask you if this is for an existing line or new number, select the existing line and off you go. It will transfer the new number to the sim, deactivate the old sim on the 3GS and then restore the iPhone 4 with the backup you just did on 3GS. Once that is done you can wipe out the data on the 3GS or just leave it - the 3GS now becomes a glorified iTouch.

Does anyone have any experience transitioning from XI to PI, from a security perspective? Any learnings to share? Will be moving from Netweaver 4 to 7 also.

A problem with data acquisitioning in LV 7.1 (transition from Traditional NI-DAQ to NI-DAQmx)

I have a problem with data acquisitioning in LV 7.1.
I made a transition from Tradiotional NI-DAQ to NI-DAQmx in my LabVIEW application.
The problem I have is that when I acquire data in Traditional (without writing somewhere -
just reading) then there is no scan backlog data. But when I acquire data in application that
acquisition is based on DAQmx than a scan backlog indicator shows numbers from 20 to 50 for
about 6 min and then that number quite quickly increases until I get an error (unable to
acquire data. The data was overwritten).
Acquisition settings are the same in both cases. When I acquire with DAQmx I use a global
channels. Is a reason for that phenomenon in global channels data procesing? But it seems
strange why does it flows quite smoothly for about 6 min and then it stucks?

If you have an old Daq unit it may not be compatible with DAQMX. Which DAQ unit do you have? I think NI have a list showing which DAQ driver you can use with your card

Hi - also new to the forums - I am trying to do the following:
I have a slideshow with slides of people, then a slide with a video of someone talking about the person, then more slides, etc... I want to have my playlist play then pause (or fade) so that it does not conflict with the audio from the video clip when it (automatic slide show) transitions to the slide with the video - can I do this and if so how?

Use the Tween class to transition the window's current width and height properties to their final width and height. Register a function to receive one of the tween's "motionChange" event so you can reposition the window accordingly when its w and h are changed. You'll need to measure the window's bounds and position at each step to make sure it's not outside the screen bounds, or smaller/larger than allowed. How you resize the interior stage content is up to you...

Found a note explaining the significance of these errors.
It says:
"NZE-28862: SSL connection failed
Cause: This error occurred because the peer closed the connection.
Action: Enable Oracle Net tracing on both sides and examine the trace output. Contact Oracle Customer support with the trace output."

When i transition from a demo to a simulation in a project, in the published output I get a black loading ring, any way to remove this? I'd prefer there to be nothing rather than a ring

The loading ring is the preloader. It lets the user know that some background activity is happening while he waits. If you remove this, the user might see a blank screen in its place and they may think there is a bug in the output or they have reached the end and close the window.
However if you still want to remove it, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Project > Start and End, and clear the Preloader checkbox.

Help transitioning from CS2 to Elements

Am experiencing some difficulties in my workflow transitioning from CS2 to Elements. In CS2 during most edits (from levels, to colour adjustments, spot healing, almost anything!) I would hit Edit>Edit (I think that's what it was...I'm missing my CS2) and a box would pop up where I could adjust the opacity from 0% to 100% of any individual edit that I made without having to create a new layer for Everything. I'm going crazy searching Elements to try to find a similar feature. Anybody???

Yes there are features of CS2/CS5 that are not available in PSE but having PSE has its own advantages.

I have one it works fine. yeah, the Mac instructions aren't great. Try this.
(1) make sure you have your VCR audio and video outputs connected to the side with the two selection switches.
(2) be sure you know the difference between the audio and video outputs no matter which colors you use.
(3) make sure the indicator light is green on cable that connects to your computers firewire port.
(4) when you operate the vcr through Imovie. you will only be able to play your vhs tape. so to fast forward or reverse. you must use your vcr remote or your hand.
(5) to import your footage just click on import in imovie.
That should solve your problem. Also, in the future put these questions in the imovie forum.

Transitioned from an older G5 Pro to a new iMac. My Final Cut files are on a 2T WD external HD. When I try to boot I get a "General Error 41" and files do not load. Took the WD to the Apple Store and tried it on one of their iMacs...it works OK. Ideas?

Took the WD the Apple Store and tried it on one of their iMacs...it works fine. The problem seems to be in my new iMac, other WD's with different files load OK. Any ideas?

Can it be so that You try to boot a G5 (Power) Mac from one external hard disk - then try to boot an INTEL Mac from same external Mac.
WILL NOT WORK - It's not just the Mac OS Extended formation that plays a part here - they have to be formatted differently to be bootable on each system.
I don't think there is any solution to this AT ALL.
When You format a hard disk.
• Select Partitions
• Under the graphic representation to the left there is an Alternative button
Here You select if it's supposed to be Bootable on a Power CPU or INTEL-CPU
No other possibilities.

BB Credit transitions from zero

Greetings,
When I do a sho int fcx/x counters, I can see information that really doesn't make much sense to me and its not explained anywhere that I can easily find.
One in particular is:
<number> bb credit transitions from zero.
I also see the same <number> LLR.
I have 2 x 9509's with ONS 15454 in the middle. Both 9509's are reporting the same number of BB Credit transitions from zero on the ISL (and Port Channel stats) and one switch as <number> for output LRRs and the other switch has <number> for input LRR.
This might be pure coincidence but I want to see if running out of bb credits (which is extremely unlikely over this distance) is causing the LRR events.
I believe LRR events (where is this documented) are caused by some sort of media error outside the 9509 in this case. I can't get any stats on the ONS as the person running them just plain wont look.
I get the feeling that I am getting a glitch in one of the DWDM links but I need to cover all bases.

If anyone is interested in this posting, I am not running out of BB credits enough to cause LRR's. It could be a pure coincidence and the media links are apparently my problem.
Massive starvation of BB credits will apparently do something along these lines but its not my problem. Also, an event is supposed to happen if I had starvation of BB credits. I don't know what it would be but considering the amount of endless syslog events that comes out of the MDS switches, I am sure I would notice something.
