  • Oracle RAC 11g - Transition queries

    Hi,
I am about to get transition on Oracle databases used currently by one of the client managed by another vendor.
I would like to I have a check list sort of thing for getting transition on Oracle RAC 11g r2 from the current vendor.
Appreciate if anybody can help me on this asap.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Everyone,
I installed Oracle RAC 11g on Windows 2008 64 bit, The installation was successfull crs_state -t executed successfully.
Bt the machine got crashed ,when executed a select query with 100 sessions( For performance evaluation using TG). A blue screen is appeared on two nodes. So i am not able to evaluate the performance.
Can you please tell any suggesstions to solve this issue? Is our hardware is not sufficient? Or any software settings has to be done?. I tried most of hte technique ,bt the problem still exists.
The following machine configuration is used for Oracle RAC setup
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz,
    Ram :4GB.
    OS : windows 2008 Server 64 Bit
Oracle RAC , Clusterware 11g R2 64 Bit.i guess you have installed/configured RAC using VMware. i guess, the problem is with your RAM size. how much disk space and RAM size you have allocated for each machine?
    which documentation you have followed?

Does Oracle support T-SQL ? Why would Oracle support a proprietary macro-based language implementation from a competitor?
If it is not supported in Oracle, what is the major grammer difference between T-SQL and Oracle supported SQL ? Oracle has two languages. SQL. PL/SQL.
PL/SQL is formal declarative procedural language with object orientation programming features. It is based on the Ada language (close relative of the Pascal language).
SQL is fully integrated with PL/SQL. Which means that you can write and mix SQL source code with PL/SQL source code and the PL/SQL compiler will figure out which is which and where to make calls to the SQL engine for executing SQL code.
Is there any efficient way for programmer to complete T-SQL transition to Oracle SQL ? Yes. Unfortunately not the answer that you are likely hoping for.
Forget EVERYTHING you did with T-SQL.
There is no real comparison between the two. And not only many differences, but some fundamental and conceptual differences too.

  • Requesting Oracle to release Soma (javafx 1.3) ASAP ...

    Hi all,
I'd like to request, those of you who would like to join in this request, to add to this thread.
Based on past statements from some key engineers in the JavaFX team, the 1.3 release was supposed to happen sometime now. If memory serves it was supposed to be co-ordinated with the release of NetBeans 6.8. Its possible that there are some very good reasons to hold back the release. However, judging from the number of "open" issues within the bugbase, it appears that SoMA (javafx 1.3) may be very close to "release".
We are all looking forward to the "speed improvements" and "new controls" that have been mentioned.
It also appears that some fundamental work in the SceneGraph is happening. All of this is great. If this can be held off for the next release and the current work (speed & controls) is made available to us, it would be greatly appreciated.
    Much Thanks
    /rk
ps : The more I use JavaFX, the more I like it and believe in the value of the "declarative scenegraph" approach.

Hi, glad to hear that you like JavaFX and see the value of the scene graph approach.
I work on the Oracle (formerly Sun) JavaFX team, and we are busily working on the next release. The transition to Oracle has caused minimal disruption, and we are making great progress. We'll ship the next release as soon as ... well, not as soon as possible but as soon as is practical. Please also bear in mind that while I do work on the team, I'm not an official spokesperson or anything like that.
I should remind people, though, that a number of statements have been made in these forums that are being treated as fact, whereas they are really inferences and speculation. For example, that it was supposed to ship on some date, or it is supposed to have some specific feature or enhancement. You can infer and speculate all you want -- I'm not telling you to stop -- but please make sure you differentiate between fact and speculation.
I wish I could be more specific about our exact plans, but Oracle has a stricter policy than Sun about information about future releases.

  • Upgrade Path from 5.1.4

We are currently running version 5.1.4 and are looking to upgrade.  What is the recommended upgrade path or version we should be planning to go to?  Our pipeline isn't very complicated since I've read some articles about there not being a direct migration to version 3.0.  We currently develop using the RAD toolkit and .NET if that is a factor when upgrading.
Also if someone could clarify which packages I'm looking at migrating to as before I installed Endeca IAP and Dev Studio and I was up and running.  I don't see those packages in the newer versions of the software and I'm not 100% on what the packages were renamed to after the transition to Oracle.

It sounds like you are upgrading an Endeca Commerce / Guided Search implementation.  This forum is for Oracle Endeca Information Discovery (EID) products.  You will get better answers over on the other forum, https://forums.oracle.com/community/developer/english/endeca_experience_management/technical_questions .

    Correct.
This is why I asked what the pool configuration is because RAIDZ pools report inflated space in zpool list and mirrored pools reported deflated space. ZFS pool and file system space reporting is described here:

  • 11i to R12 Upgrade -  Adoption Rate

Is there any publicly available information on the number of existing 11i customers that have upgraded to R12?
The management at my company was told (by an Oracle rep) that the R12 adoption rate is pretty low. Because of this information our management is considering putting our R12 project on hold until next year. I would like to provide them with some real data that they can use as they are making their decision.
It would be helpful to know the following:
1.) Number of new R12 customers
2.) Number of 11i customers who have upgraded to R12
3.) Number of 11i customers who are in the process of upgrading to R12
Please let me know if this information is available.
    Thanks.

There is no publicly available information about the number of existing 11i customers that have upgraded to R12 because it is just too many customers to manage and organizations upgrade and go live many times without telling Oracle because the implementation has gone so smoothly.
Having said that, I do track many of our customers who have approval from their management to publicly tell their upgrade story. Here is just a small sample of these customers who have upgraded and gone live on Release 12 and Release 12.1. • User gets an Content Encoding Error message when trying to access workspace

    Hi.
I've created a workspace and added several users to it who can access it without any issues.
However, one specific user (Leslie Elstad - https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/teamcollab/profiles/[email protected]) can't access her workspaces. She is using Firefox on a Solaris 10 machine.
Here is what she told me:
"I clicked on the Start button under Team Workspaces, which took me here:
    https://beehiveonline.oracle.com/teamcollab/
and displayed the familiar Content Encoding Error message."
    Please advise.

    Hi.
Please let me know what is going on when we add people to a Beehive Online group (Solaris Curriculum).
People are frequently getting this same error/message when trying to access several workspaces.
New cases, please help me fix their access:

  • An install service of Solaris 11.2 on the AI server of Solaris 11.1

    Hi all,
Is it possible to create an AI install service of Solaris 11.2 on the AI server of Solaris 11.1?
    Thanks

    Hello
In general is better to have the latest sol11.2 to serve all solaris AI images. But maybe new features like unified archives can not be used in older version,  as they are new on sol11.2, but as you can read in this link much better sol11.2 + SRU to be the AI server as you can serve all

  • SQL Developer Necessities

Our group is a mid-size technology group who would really like to transition to Oracle SQL Developer from TOAD. However, 2 major drawbacks are forcing many headaches within our group and many people want to switch back to Toad because of these issues, which I think are very minor and could be fixed with the next Sql Developer release.
    1. Exporting to Excel! Exporting to .csv cuts off leading Zeros in our data, and just doesn't perform the same way as Excel.
    2. Scrolling up and down within the Sql Developer environment. In Toad, you can scroll up or down, and its painful not to be able to do this in Sql Developer.
Any idea if these issues have been considered or being worked on? Thanks so much, we really like the tool otherwise!

Yikes. I really don't know. Sometimes the drivers that come with fancier mice don't work on all applications and more generic drivers do. If you did a mouse specific one I would suggest ditching it and going with whatever MS installs automatically. (but you may loose some features) Can't help you much beyond that. The only other thing that I can think of is perhaps using a different jvm. By default it uses 1.5.0_05 and I think sun is up to 1.5.0_08 now. Sorry, but without sitting down at your computer it is very difficult to tell what may be going on. You can also google your mouse name and java and see if anyone else is having issues since it is most likely due to a combination of java and your mouse driver.

  • Replies are sometimes using ISO-8859-1character set

    Hello,
I am using iCloud - and iCloud Mail - in OSX 10.10.2 Yosemite on Macs (several different Macs).
Sometimes  -- rarely -- when I do a reply to all and I look at the reply I mailed out under the "Sent" tab, I see that the whole reply is "garbled".
    Loads of A's and 0's.
The actual reply is preceded with a text that resembles this (the numbers change from reply to reply):
    Quote
    --Apple-Webmail-42--c10907ed-7ae8-475d-80.....followed by more numbers
    Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
    Content-Type: text/plain;
        charset=ISO-8859-1;
        format=flowed
    Unquote
The above "header" is followed by my reply that is completely garbled up too.
How can I avoid this formatting from happening?
Thanks in advance for your help.

LDAP is UTF-8 and Oracle is set to ISO-8859-1. Now
the problem is user info goes Oracle first and is
being validated by another UTF-8 based application
and then goes to LDAP. You are lucky things start in ISO-8859-1, because it encodes a proper subset of UTF-8. However, for characters beyond 127, UTF-8 encodes the character differently than ISO. Consequently, on the transition between Oracle and the UTF-8 based application, characters need to be recoded. Similarly, when characters come out of LDAP in UTF-8, they must be recoded to ISO if this is the encoding of your pages.
    In this process all the
characters are getting distorted and I cannot change
LDAP and Oracle default charsets.Well, then there is no way around a recode. You cannot even try to trick the UTF-8 based application if it is slightly picky, because some ISO codes are simply illegal in UTF-8. The other way round would work: store UTF-8 in an ISO based application without recoding. At some point the ISO based application would just see two funny characters where there is only one, but as long as this does not distort any alphabetical sorting or even presentation to a user, you would just not care.
    Harald.

  • Configuring P6SpyDatasource

I am having problems in configuring p6SpyDatasource in weblogic9.2. As specified in the spy.properties i replaced my real datasource with com.p6spy.engine.spy.P6DataSource. • Oracle forms display bright white flash when transitioning between forms.

We recently migrated an application from Oracle Application Server to WebLogic and we are noticing that in the WebLogic environment while transitioning between forms there is a quick bright white flash that has caused several complaints. We are not sure if this is related to a performance issue which may be preventing the form from painting quick enough or if there is a configuration problem somewhere. Has anyone else seen this behavior?
We are running WebLogic Server Version 10.3, Fusion Middleware 11gR1, and Oracle DB 11.2

Unfortunately we don't have any errors to work off of. The application works fine, it's just that their is a very short delay when transitioning from one form to another and during that transition the whole form turns bright white which has caused users to complain that it could cause an epileptic seizure. I assumed maybe there was some performance tuning/caching that could be done to make it so it loaded quicker. Our DBA team recieved a response from Oracle support stating that although the forms themselves are relatively unchanged, due to the underlying software changes in 11g we are to expect some differences compared to previous versions. We have since set background in formsweb.cfg to use a light grey image which seems to be more acceptable for our users.
