Transitions are making my text appear thicker?

I have some titles made in Title 3D that have fade-in-fade-out transitions in between.
When the playhead hits the beginning of the transition on the ending clip, the text on screen seems to get thicker, almost as if another layer is being displayed underneath it.
Any ideas why it does this?

Have you checked that your render settings under the Sequence menu are correct? If not, just make sure all of the items have check-marks beside them under "Render Selection" and "Render All."

IWeb- website text appears thick or blurry

Hi--When creating my website (web.mac.com/cadirect) the text looks nice and clean in iWeb, but viewed on-line (from my MacBook OR other computers...) the text looks thicker and/or a bit blurry or fuzzy. Any suggestions?

Ok, then that's because of the way Safari renders text as opposed to the Windows browsers. The one that looks the way you expect it to on all browsers is because it's an image and images are generally displayed the same everywhere.
While the text looks like you want it to when converted to an image, it ends up taking longer to download. Plus, if the user wants to enlarge the font on a page using the browser's controls, they won't be able to because it's an image. So it's really a matter of how you want it to look. There's a way to force iWeb to render text as an image but your site will be slower. You can have the text currently displaying as an image display as text, but it will look different depending on the browser you use.
This isn't a new thing, either. That browsers display content differently has been something driving web designers crazy for years upon years. Welcome to their world

Making new text appear in the same space as old

I thought there must be a simple way of doing this, but I can't find how in Help, or in this Forum.
I want text on a slide to disappear and new text to appear, in exactly the same place.
Ah ha, I thought, this is just the thing for Smart Build - but this seems to be restricted to graphics, not text.
I hope this description is clear enough, and sorry if the problem and solution are well known, and I've just somehow missed it.

First, create the text you want to disappear. Then select it and assign it a Build-Out effect (I suggest a Dissolve of about 2 seconds, but the choice is yours). This can be triggered either by a Click or automatically at your option.
Next create the new text and place it directly on top of the first text. Assign it a Build-In effect (with the same type and duration as the Build-Out you have created).
In the "More Options" Builds List, assign the Build-In (new text) to occur Automatically With the Build-Out (old text).

Making 3D text appear shiny/glossy

What would be the easiest and quickest way to make text as well as a 3D ellipse appear glossy/shiny? I've tried playing with the gradients and transparencies but can't seem to get it right. What I'm looking for is an ellipse (no fill) to be 3D (lets just say extrude of 25) and inside of there 3D text that is also extruded (same...25). Then I need it all to appear shiny/glossy so it really pops out of the page and looks 3D. Attached is a picture of current logo for reference. Just really need the ellipse and letters for now. So a 3D ellipse and "TDC" 3D as well. Same colors as below.

Post #5: NO. The whole point of the compound path is to make what is basically a single object out of multiple paths. That’s what you want for the fronts of the letters but not for the sides.
Post #6: Presumably the inside of the circle is a single object? Assuming that it is, there is probably no need to physically split it up. What you have done so far is pretty much o.k. but you might experiment with adding further stops to the gradients. And then use the Gradient tool to adjust the angles precisely as you wish. Personally I fend those grey gradients a bit dull – they are so smooth and mechanical – somehow predictable. You can make then more exciting (unexpected-looking) by adding stops. Closely spaced stops with very different tonality give a sudden change of tone that might help to make the whole thing look more alive. Give it a try.

Safari - Making Webpages Text Appear Full Screen

Hello, new to this forum. I am having difficulties with my safari window settings. I own an ibook G4 14" and I recall when I first set it up that certain webpages would not display in the full window of safari after I draged the bottom triangle to full screen. Eventually I was able to get all sites to work full screen (ie. the text spreads across the whole screen - left to right) but I can't recall how.
Now I just purchased a 15" MacBook Pro (having sleep problems and hissing, but that is another story) and now I can't get the sites to work. For example www.soccernet.com only displays on the left side of my screen (whole right side is blank) - on my ibook it is full screen.
Can someone advise as to how this can be changed.

You are not seeing only part of the screen, the screen you are viewing it on it just bigger.
Imagine you have a webpage that is 800 pixels wide. You then view it on two monitors; one that is 800 pixels wide, and another that is 1600 pixels wide. On the 800 pixel monitor, the webpage will take up the whole width of the screen, but on the 1600 pixel monitor, it will only take up half the width of the screen.
The only way around it would be to lower the resolution of your display (System Preferences > Display), but I wouldn't recommended it as you will be losing a lot of display space.

Text Area for long text not appearing properly for BBP_POC_DISPLAY Service

In our development we have added additional Icon at ITS in Process PO transaction and onclicking that icon Web dynpro AB screen called with the Purchase Order No of selected row .(SRM 5.0)
There is one more icon in Web dynpro screen on click of that Purchase order service open in ITS with display mode .This is achieved with service BBP_POC_DISPLAY from Web Dynpro-AB.
This is also working ok only the issue is in Document tab of PO The Text Area for long text appear at Top .This functionality is working fine with BBP_POC service from ITS .
Has anybody faced this kind of issue ?

I am unsure of the additional component you are talking about. In general, issues with text area misplacing, is solved by note 1067625. May be you can check it.

When using Hotmail my email text appears black, but when I look at them in my sent folder they are going from black to grey. Can this be resolved?

Which email service provider are you using? You can install DropBox and share links to the files that way. When you snd to your self (cc or bcc) do the items show up? What file types and sizes are these attachments? Are you sending over WiFi or cellular connection? Try using more than one email account from a different provider (Gmail, yahoo, iCloud, etc) and see if it is email provider specific.

No Text Appears in Book (Preview and in Book)

I just receive a Medium Soft Cover book from Apple and to my surprise there was no text present. I tried printing to pdf or previewing within iphoto and no text appears as well. My font sizes are all small. I even created a new book with a couple photos and used the default text - still no text in preview.
Someone suggested ditching the preferences file for iphoto as well as the cache. My fear in doing that is that the whole iphoto library gets reset...is there another way?

Go to your User/Library/Caches folder and look for a folder titled iPhoto. Drag it to the Trash. I will get recreated the next time iPhoto needs to create a cache file.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. The pdfs print fine though.

Try doing a spotlight search for all files that start with AdobeFnt. They will be named AdobefntXX.lst, with the XX being some number. They will be scattered across the drive... After making sure that all Adobe applications are closed, trash all the adobefntxx.lst files, those with the 3 letter extension .lst.
Then, restart the system, and open the files in Acrobat again.
Otherwise, what happens in Safe boot? (Remember, Safe boot loads only a default set of fonts.) If they display fine there, the problem most likely is a font issue, one of the fonts that Adobe installed.
Check Adobe's web support page for troubleshooting Fonts.

How to text swipe,text appears while following stroke?

I am trying to make actual text that appears over time.
I am not trying to make a swipe where it appears from left to right, but i want it to look like the text is being drawn.
I know how to stroke a path and have that appear over time, but it looks like hand drawn text. I am wondering if there is away to make actual text appear over time.
I found this tutorial on youtube where text looks hand drawn and appears by following a pen tool that has ben stroked.

I am working in CS5.

I am trying to make crisp text appear with a constant lightning bolt, but not a full letter at a time.
I want it to look like the lightning is a pen writing the text.
I don't have any example as i have not come across any examples as of yet.
That youtube video is the closest i have come to so far, the speed and appearing of text are correct in the video, but i wan't this to be accomplished with a lightning bolt and actual text, not just stroking a bunch of pen lines.
Swipes are found in "presets,transition wipes".
A sand to text (or text to sand) is considered a wipe.
The more i think avout this, the more i think i may use a wipe and increase the amount of lightning to encompass the vertical height of the text to make this happen. And wipe from left to right keeping the lightning and wipe the same speed.

If the songs are still on your ipod, make sure autosync is disabled in iTunes on your computer, connect and right click on it in the device list, then choose "transfer purchases" to copy all bought media and apps from your ipod to your computer.
If the songs are not on your computer and got deleted from your ipod as well, you can't get them back, unless you have a backup of your iTunes library as part of your computer backup.

View CA transitions are stuck on dissolve

I am trying to add 'order in' and 'order out' transitions to a view, but regardless of which transistions I select in IB, the dissolve effect is always used when I run the app.
This is what I have set up:
- A Window with its content view set to 'Wants Core Animation Layer' in IB
- A 'Background' view filling most of the window, with an custom subview called noteView added in IB
- The noteView instance in IB has transitions set for 'order in' and 'order out'
The 'Background' view has these actions to add and remove the noteView:

Whenever these actions are called when the app runs, the noteView dissolves in and out, regardless of which transitions are selected in IB. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing or doing wrong?

Typing yields only "ding" and no text appears!!!

You probably have opened a blank Layout mode template which has no default text area.
There are 2 kinds of templates, Word Processing templates which flow from page to page and which you can just type into, and Layout templates which require you to create text boxes to type into.
See the sidebar in the Template Chooser to see which is which.

Safari 4.0.5 Text Appears as an A inside a Square

Just got my new Macbook Pro. However I am observing some strange behavior on some websites. Some of the text appears as an "A" inside a square. i've noticed this at Ebay and at SFGate.com. Any ideas?

Yes! Definitely. I was just getting ready to ask if you had used the MA.
From the Safari Menu click File/Export Bookmarks. Save that file to an external source.
Now go to ~/Library/Safari and move the Bookmarks.plist / History.plist / LastSession.plist files to the Trash.
Then go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and move the "Cache.db" file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac, launch Safari and try SFGate.com
If nothing helped, repair disk permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
If that didn't help, install the v10.6.3 Combo Update It's ok to do this even if you are already running v10.6.3

Bold text appears bold and italic

Hi Folks,
Can anyone please explain why this happens?
In FW when I click the bold text button, the text appears bold but italic aswell.

That's unusual. Which version of Fireworks and what operating system are you using?
If you click on the Faux Italic button, is the italic styling removed? (It should be. If not, click twice.) You might want to try quitting and restarting the application—or shutting down and restarting your computer—and see if this takes care of the problem.
FYI: It's generally a better choice to add bolding via the Font Style dropdown menu, if that style is available within the currently selected font family.
