Transitions don't work (stay black)

Hello, I hope somebody can help me with the following problem:
I'm using Adobe premiere elements 7, and I'm trying to put some transitions between the videoclips. But only two transitions are working, it is possible to edit the other transitions and put them between the clips but when I preview them I only see a black screen (sound does continue playing) where the transition should be. Does anyone know what to do?

Hello again,
I’ve enclosed the timeline, zoomed in. The first screen is the timeline with a transition that does work, the second one is the same timeline with a transition that doesn’t work. But what I’m thinking now, Is that the transition maybe does work, I just can’t see it on the preview-screen. I can see the transition in the timeline, but the monitor stays black during the transition. So maybe I do need some kind of videocodec (this is new computer, so that’s certainly possible)?

Transitions don't work with tracks

For some reason transitions don't work for me when I have them on tracks. For instance, Ive set a "dissolve" transition to occur at the end of Track 1 as it moves to Track 2. Instead, it simply jumps to the next track with no transition. Transitions seem to work with menus no problem, but once a track is involved, they stop. Im using DVDSP 4.
Anyone have any insight?

Hmm... you \can do this if you really need to... but you have to do a bit of jiggery pokery.
Take the last frame of your footage in the first track and open it in photoshop. Export it as a still image and take it back in to DVDSP, and add it to the very end of the video in the track. Adjust the length of it to be about 3 seconds and highlight it, and now add the transition you want.
The length is critical - the transition needs to take place using some of this image as the material. If you use a short transition you can use a short span for the image. If you don't, you need to extend the image. What this means is that your user will see the still for longer than necessary if you get this wrong.

Transitions don't work after importing a project from Premiere to AE

I've imported a project from Premiere CS3 to AE CS3 and all my transition (fade + wipes) are now solids and they don't work on timeline or on exports, but they still show in my sequence.
How can I make AE use those transition again so I don't have to go through all project and keyframe transitions.
Notice that I use Cineform and that those transition are Cineform's one; hope that doesn't cause the problem since AE uses CF too.

Exactly the problem. AE is only to able to translate a few transitions, which include the normal cross-disolve, linear wipe, dip-to-color and a few others, but since those routines are hard-coded in the Premiere Pro Importer, they have no way f doing the same for third-party products. So more or less you will have to rebuild your stuff, either by using the proper transitions in PPro or in AE.

Importing movie file - transitions don't work?

Hi all, this is my first post. I searched a bit here and EVERYWHERE on the internet, but couldn't find a solution to my question.
I'm trying to import a .mov file I created in powerpoint. In the file there are smooth transitions, where one images fades into another. When I import the file, I can view the movie in the preview window (double click the filename in the Project tab). It plays fine, all transitions are intact. However when I drag it into my composition the transitions are gone and there is no fading. It's like there is an alpha channel that's not getting interpreted correctly. I've tried every setting in the Interpret Footage window for the Alpha channel.
I've done this in several other projects. It's always a pain to get past this part. For some reason I can never repeat the same steps to get it to work.
If anyone knows what REALLY going on and what I can do to import the footage properly, I would appreciate the help.

What version of After Effects are you using?
When you say "preview window", what panel are you actually referring to?
If you're referring to the player window that opens when you double-click a QuickTime footage item in the Project panel, then you need to know that in After Effects CS4 and earlier, this is just a QuickTime Player window.

FCPX 10.1.2 : Transitions don't work

Hi there,
today I started my computer and launched FCPX, just like pretty much every day of the past 3 weeks. All of a sudden, I can't apply Cross Dissolves (or any other transition) to any clip. I constantly get this message:
I know that my clips need handles in order to make a transition work, and that is totally the case... in some cases, there are 3 minutes of footage before AND after the part that is in my timeline, so I don't see any reason for this message to appear. Also when I click on the "Create Transition" button, nothing happens.
This really grinds my gears and I have absolutely NO clue what could cause this problem. I googled for hours and reset pretty much everything there is to reset - without success.
I really hope that I will find some help here, I cannot risk this project to be delayed!
PS:
I'm still on 10.1.2 because I'm editing a big project and I don't want to risk it being delayed/damaged by problems with the newest version.

I managed to solve the problem.. it's pretty stupid! For some reason my default duration for transition was set to 0.06 seconds, YES, seconds, not 6 frames. 0.06 Seconds are equal to roughly 1.5 frames, which is clearly not enough to make a transition! The error message was a bit weird since it "lied" to me if you look at it that way

Button transitions don't work

I'm importing a Quicktime movie into iDVD 7. The movie was produced with FCEHD 3.5, and contains 2 chapter markers. None of the iDVD button transitions will work. No matter which transition I choose, the image flashes briefly to blank white, then to the expected beginning of the movie or scene. This occurs no matter which theme I use. Any ideas?

I don't use HD - but just thinking.
FCEHD 3.5, and contains 2 chapter markers.
a. No Chapter marks at the very start of Your movie - iDVD want's to do this by it self.
b. Export out of FCE/P WITH Chapter marks !
I do in FCE/P (SD)
• Export out as QuickTime .mov
• Not selfcontained (not important but saves time and spaces)
• NO QuickTime CONVERSION
• Export with Chapter Marks
• Secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on boot hard disk (others don't count - at all)
• This QT.mov I import into a NEW iDVD project (can't be updated - if change -> make a new one)

Transitions don't work!

I'm trying to learn about transitions. I have a brief clip that is split into 3 scenes. I've inserted variuos transitions, and I've set the duration as long as 10 seconds, but I still get a cut -- no transition. Rendering the clip doesn't solve the problem.
What might I be doing wrong?

It sounds like you are taking a single Clip, Cutting it, and then applying Transitions to those Cuts. Is that correct?
If so, then there is nothing to Transition from, or to. As a test, grab three different Clips, drag them to the Timeline, and then apply Transitions to those. Does that work better.
One major consideration with Transitions is Handles. This ARTICLE goes into much more detail, and explains Handles in detail. This is a concept that one must get their head around, when using Transitions.

Transitions don't work with Motion track

I'm putting a demo together with a cople of motion graphic clips 2 of which are done in Live Type & 1 done in Motion. All 3 are QT files but I can only use transitions with the first two which were done in LT. an anyone help?

Qosmio G30-126 monitor become black and FN buttons don't work

Hello,
I have small problem, ehm two problems but perhaps small for you :)
Last week I install Vista ultimate WITHOUT RECOVERY CD..
It's OK, but I'm closing cover of notebook and instantly open, monitor become black and i can't anything do beyond restart .
In Control panel in possibilities of power supply , bookmark "options for closing pad" doesn't work.
Maybe it is by, because i don't driver if exist
And second problem maybe related with first but this is mistake by it, because I wasn't discover drivers because i don't hidden toolbar on up on dispay in Windows, where is standartly is.
I don't work major part hidden functions under key FN ( I think FN + F2,F3...F12) plus keys be the side POWER without multimedia keys on music..

First of all its interesting if you have downloaded and installed all Toshiba Vista drivers which are released on the Toshiba European driver page?
All drivers must be installed in the right order!
If I'm not mistaken the Qosmio G30-126 belongs to the PQG32E series. It was delivered with HD DVD drive and therefore you should choose the drivers for Qosmio G30 HD DVD (PQG32E)!!!
Please check firstly the Installation Instructions txt file and then install all drivers like mentioned in this document.
Regarding the display issue;
You should install the right NVIDIA driver from the Toshiba page!!
The FN keys and control buttons dont work because the Toshiba Vista Value Added Package was not installed. This package contains different applications which are necessary to get all Toshiba functions running!

Brightness keys not working anymore and screen frequently flashing black and staying black!

I had my macbook pro in for repair twice last month. They replaced the logic board and had to take the screen off and look at it due to there being a potential crack. Now, when i got the macbook back the first time, after replacing the logic board, everything was fine, the brightness keys did not work at first but a restart fixed the problem. 5 days later i had it back in so they could look at the screen because i thought there was a crack on it, which turned out just to be some debris on the inside! Still had to pay a 50 quid inspection charge!
ever since the macbook has returned from this the brightness keys have had a delayed response in that, when i increase or decrease the brightness it took about 10 seconds for the screen to actually change. This happened everytime.
A few days ago for no reason, the screen started to occasianally flash black. It wasnt a problem at first, but sometimes it flashes back and stays black so i have to restart my computer. Sometimes when returning from sleep it stays black as well. On top of this, the brightness keys have completely stopped working all together now.
My laptop is not in warrenty anymore, it ran out after i got it back the second time. I was too busy with work and i needed to use the laptop so i couldnt really sort anything out.
Is there any policy saying that if the laptop comes back from repair and has new problems not caused by the customer, but by the repairer, then they will fix it free of charge?

- Charge the iPod for half an hour. Then reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- if still not working, connect to your computer. If iTunes sees the iPod, restore the iPod.

Hello skdog I possibly think your ipod touch is black because it has not charged. If your dock is broken it might just mean the dock will be broken and so might be the USB port. You should see an Apple shop nearby and hand it over and see what they can do. I hope this information works!

Hi i´m new in this IOS thing but i get a message in itunes of an update of IOS 7.0.6 to 7.1 so i updated but my phone stop working the camera just take 2 videos and the camera is not working, well at least the rear cam stay black the front cam works, and, in the control center the button of flashlite do not work i push the button like 4 times the LED do not turn on then i restart the iphone and now the button is disabled so is this a bug or just a faliure of the IOS update???

Transitions between split clips don't work properly

If I split a clip in the project area, then put a transition between the two new clips, the transition doesn't work properly. It is most obvious with the Cross Dissolve, which doesn't work at all. Some of the others sort of look like they are working, but if you look closely, they are not working correctly- i.e. not in the same way that transitions between two clips dragged separately to the project area from the events area work.
Any one else notice this, or better yet, have a fix?

OK- I discovered a work-around.
In the project area if you select the split part following the transition, Cut it (Command x) then Paste it (Command v) back in the proper place, the transition works properly. Usually cutting and pasting the following half of a split clip fixes the transition, but sometimes I have to cut and paste both the part before the transition and the part after it to get things to work right.

Aol mail works, but aol videos don't. also, aol stays on page 1 of day's news stories. arrows don't work.

AOL opens as usual, but I can't move from page 1 of the day's news stories. The arrows don't work and the bar at the top says: aol.com/#. AOL videos go to "connecting." but don't play. My AOL mail account works fine. There are no AOL problems using IE.
Problems started 2 days ago. I'm a low-tech sort, but have tried various fixes suggested in the help section. Currently using Firefox 9.0.1 with Adobe and Silverlight plug-ins. No add-ons. No known (to me) changes 2 days ago that could have caused this. What's the fix? Please advise.
