Transitions in Keynote doesn't work

Ever since I updated to IOS5, I discovered that transitions entered through my iPad 2 doesn't work. I transferred a Powerpoint presentation through email to my iPad and opened in Keynote. I then proceeded to add transitions to each slide. I saw that the bottom right hand corner showed a triangle, indicating transitions were added. But, when I pressed the Play button in Keynote and started tapping screens, the transitions didn't work. The slides just went through one after another without transitions. What am I doing wrong or is there a fix I need to install?

Try booting to Safe Boot (turn the computer on and hold the Shift key, you should see a progress bar before you get to the login screen). After you login, restart the computer (this will clear your Font caches among other things).
Otherwise, you may have some bad fonts installed.
I'd suggest using Font Book to validate ALL of your fonts, and remove any that show errors.

Mov file in Keynote doesn't work in 4.0

I've been a presenting a Keynote file that includes many imbedded animations (mov or mpeg files) I did not create. I just upgraded to Keynote 4, and now one of the slides has stopped working. This shows Lake Chad slowly drying up (from Gore's presentation in An Inconvenient Truth), and previously it dissolved slowly from the Lake in 1963 through intermediate steps until it is gone in 2001. Now it freezes in 1963 and the jumps to 2001.
When I view package contents on the file, and double click on the mov file (there are actually a couple that I see), the movie runs fine in Quicktime. Anybody have any ideas for me? I'm making a major presentation using this file on Thursday. I guess I can save as an earlier version and reinstall Keynote 3...

I just open my next weeks lecture form last year and the movie doesn't play... The movie is a 281 MB H.264 movie... I can open it in quicktime and it works fine, plays in keynote 3 just fine. If I put the movie in a new presentation file it doesn't work... The preview thumbnail slide along the edge shows the movie, but it's just a blank white pane in the slide.
I just searched my HD and popped in a whole bunch of .mov movie files and they all play just fine, until I put in another H.264 one, it is also just a blank white window...
I can't believe apple didn't test H.264 in keynote 4 so this must be a setting somewhere, right?

Apple Keynote Doesn't Work

I was trying to watch the Apple Special Event, September 2009 and it says that it's not supported on the Apple TV!?!
The other keynotes work, this one doesn't. Weird. I wonder if this is a trend or maybe just an anomaly.

Okay, this is getting weirder. I've discovered that if I have both Keynote '08 and Keynote '06 open, with the presentation I want to display in '08 and anything in '06 (for instance a single blank slide), then if '06 is active and I use the apple remote, I can play the '08 presentation perfectly as expected (I just press play, and the '08 presentation appears). However, if '08 is the active program, this doesn't work. I suppose this is a work-around, and perhaps I should try re-installing iWork '08 just in case I broke something when I tried moving it.
Are there any other tests of the remote?

Animation SWF from Keynote doesn't work in iWeb???

I've found some info about create the Animation SWF from keynote ... What i'm trying to do is, Crate a Animation Moving Button and at the Last position ,Visitor might able to click on it and go to my next page of Website...it was work well when i open it with Safari and click on the Button to open the link to the next page...
But,After published iWeb with HTML Snippet code of SWF player, the animation work but i can't click on the Button that i've create the the next page Link...why?and how s'ld i do it to make it work?

Keynote doesn't work!

Keynote jumps to the iPad home screen when importing ppt. file from my email. What.s wrong?

I did the same and didn´t feel like a maverick when I suddenly couldn´t use my remote as ususal.
I was stuck by the computer and had to pause from there. Pausing like I usually do on my remote brought me back to the desktop. Even if I tried not to do it, it happened a few times. I felt more lika maverick being able to juggle that situation. I never asked for it but had to deal with it.
My old Keynotes don´t open as they should. Some not at all. Suddenly some videos can´t be shown. WHY aren´t the versions compatible? Right now I am seriously thinking of changing to another computer system all together. **** what a waste Apple feels right now.
If you lock everything in, as you do, then please be absolutely sure everything works when you make changes.
You have made my professional life soooooo much harder.
Tomorrow I will use VLC instead.

Import from Excel-columns to Keynote doesn't work

I want to import data from Excel to Keynote in order to make a graph.
The data are like
20,23
20,45
19,49
20,89
(Americans would use 20.23 and so on, but that's not the point in this case).
When I mark the column and copy it to Keynote, the numbers are
20
20
19
20
I need the data after the comma as well. I tried to change the data in Excel from 20,23 to 20.23 but then it reads in Keynote like 2023.
Does anyone have a clue what the solution might be? I cannot find an answer in the manual.

Nono, I was NOT writing about Excel. I just tried it myself.
Please try the following steps:
1) Create a new Keynote-Presentation (I chose the Black-theme).
2) Create a new slide.
3) Insert a table (default number of rows etc.)
4) Select the table.
5) Open Inspector.
6) Select the Tables tab.
There are two subtabs/buttons, one is named "Table" (Tabelle) and one
"Format" (Format)
7) Select "Format".
There you will find a selector for the format of the cells. he default is
"automatic".
8) Select "Number" (Zahl) or "scientific" (wissenschaftlich). THEN a new field named "decimals" will
open
9) put in "2".
10) Go to your Excel-table/worksheet.
11) Select the cells you want to copy. Copy!
12) Go back to the Keynote-file. Normally the table should still be selected/
active. If not: select it.
13) Paste your data into the table.
Voila: when I tried myself, the table was exactly looking like you wanted it to: 20,23 etc.

Video clips doesn't work in new keynote

I recently upgraded keynote after installing os x maverick.
When I opened my previous keynote presentation, the new keynote asked to upgrade the movie quality.
And you have to click this option, otherwise the video clips will only come out as pictures.
But now, some of the video clips doesn't work. The thing is, I do not have the original video files as these are presentations given to me by others.
What's next for me?

Having the same problem, would greatlyu appreciate a fix. does it matter if one upgrades to the iOS or Mac Keynote options?

URGENT - Error "Unable to open file because it isn't a valid Keynote document" - and there is no index file (so the usually suggested solution doesn't work)

As you see in the heading, I am getting the error "Unable to open file because it isn't a valid Keynote document". There has been a number of threads on this and there seems to be a usual work around that works in many cases, by changing the file extension to .zip and then looking for the index file and making some more extension changes...unfortunately, in my case (and it also happened to others), there is no index file, so the usually suggested solution doesn't work...Can someone please help? I am working on a tight deadline and would like to try and recover the file.

Have you tried to create a new Keynote Presentation? Do you have another previously saved Keynote file you can try to open? These will make sure it is a problem with this specific presentation and not the whole program.
Try to delete the Keynote Preferences. They are located in the folder Macintosh HD>Users>your username>Library>Preferences and titled com.apple.iWork.Keynote.plist.
Your profile shows that you are still on Mc OS 10.6.6, is that true? You might try to update to 10.6.7 as I believe that there was a font issue fixed in this update (I don't know for sure since I am still on 10.5.8).
Try those and report back and we will see what we can come up with.

Converting a Keynote document to Powerpoint file doesn't work

I tried to convert Keynote documents to PowerPoint files that can be viewed and edited by PowerPoint users on Windows or Mac OS computers. All I got was a error. Can any one tell me how to make this work.I did every thing that was in the instructions.
To create a PowerPoint slideshow:
Choose File > Export and then click PowerPoint.
Click Next.
Type a name and choose a location for the file, and then click Export.

Every slide on my presentation has animated objekts. And every slide is linked (by hyperlink) to every slide on the presentation. So I want to give the user the chance to interrupt and to go to next slide. Therefore is an arrow to klick on, which has a hyperlink to next side (or do go to start, or to go back) - during the slide-animation is working.
That works fine in keynote, but it doesn't work after the export in QT. In QT it is not possible to interrupt the sequence of the animation. When the sequence is (performed) finalized, the klick on the arrow works, and I can go to next slide.
But interruption is not pssible.

Keynote Remote Doesn't work with iPhone, iPad

Hi,
I have the latest versions of Keynote on my iPhone 5S, iPad 4 and MacBook Pro 13" with Retina Display.
All three devices on the same WiFi network. Using WiFi I was able to remotely control/play the presetatnion between iPhone 5S and MacBook.
However, it doesn't work between iPhone 5S and iPad 4. Any help ?
I tried Bluetooth as well. They seem to not discover each other and neither able to remote control.
Any tips ?

After having to upgrade to the latest version of iOS Keynote (because I edited one of my presentations online through iCloud), I received the message that Keynote Remote is to be discontinued. The alternative they offer is to download Keynote onto your iPhone as they have integrated the remote feature into the full program.
The problem that I found is that space is more of a premium on my iPhone than my iPad and I don't use the full program on the iPhone, as the remote app takes only 3MB and the full app? 444MB.
I hope Apple receive similar complaints about this as nearly half a Gig for what will amount to a remote for Keynote is preposterous. I have already purchased my 16GB 5S, it's not as if I can put more memory in it now.

If you have not done so remove any files relating to iWork and Keynote and reinstall iWork
files that must go are:
the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications;
the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support
the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library >

My keynote widget in iBooks Author doesn´t work.

Hi there! I can´t previsualize in my iPad a keynote widget, made for a book in iBooks Author... it simply doesn´t appear... does anybody know if I´m missing a step?? I drag the file in a keynote and also in HTML formats and it just doesn´t work. Thank you!

IWork(Keynote, pages and numbers) doesn't work well about the issue of copy & paste problem

I think so, too. the Keynote 6.5 is not working well on Yosemite (Mac OS X 10.10.1).
In my case, I can't copy & paste from some program(particularly analysis program in my case) to Keynote.
So, when I check coping & pasting the graph or image and so on to Powerpoint and other programs (one of Office is such word and 3rd programs), It works well. However It doesn't work at Keynote, page and numbers.
Also, I tried to do the following process to solve this issue

Try this repair for Keynote, ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using AppDelete.
2 restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
         let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and      click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Keynote 6.5 is stable and reliable under Yosemite for most users.
As with all new operating systems and applications, a small number of users find a few problems.
Copy and pasting text from and into Keynote from all the applications I have, work perfectly: the applications include; Safari, Mail, Word, PowerPoint, excel, Pages, Numbers, iMovie, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator.
If you want to place graphics into Keynote, use one of the following methods:
Insert > Coose
click the media button on an image placehoder
click the media button on the tool bar
drag and drop from a Finder window
Copy and pasting images into Keynote is not supported

Inserting of transitions & text doesn't work !!

I made my first iMovie film, reading very carefully the Help and Manual files.
Up to now two things won't work !!! Inserting transitions or text in between the fragments doesn't work. I can select the transitions and text icons but when I draw them to paste, they won't fit or drop in the space between the fragments. Also the automatic insert of transitions doesn't work. The icon which should appear between the fragments doesn't work.
Please Help !

When you say "fragments" here, how long of a clip are you referring to as a fragment? Since most effects, transitions, and titles normally create an overlap of the preceding and succeeding segments, these segments or "fragments" do have a minimum length limitation for the insertion to take effect.

Keynote version 6.2 export to HTML doesn´t work

hi guys, can anyone help me with this? When i click in the index file, the presentation doesn´t work. The screen in the browser stays black, and it seems to be loading but never finishes. Itñs the same in chrome and in safari.

It could be an issue of a file or folder inside the iPhoto application having it's access turned off to you somehow. It's happened before with certain buttons not showing or working.
Open the application, select, Control-click and select "show package contents". Then look for any item that has a red circle with a "-" in it attached to it. If you do that means you don't have access. Select it and bring up the Info window (Command-I) to change access. If that doesn't work you might have to reinstall the application from the installation disk that came with your Mac or from the iLife disks (whichever is appropriate).
