Transitions not working

hi. i just bought an imac and am trying to create a movie. the transitions seem to be locked in at 1.9 seconds?? when i go to change them in the dialog box and hit ok, nothing changes. I read that the ken burns effect can affect them, so i made sure that they don't have it applied.....yet all the photos and movie clips have crop icons in the top left corner even when there is no cropping.......they are all set ti "fit".........its a bit maddening, but i'm very much a newbie, so i'm sure there must be something basic i'm missing......thanks for any ideas!.....Larry

Transition durations are linked to the duration of the clips which they join. Basic rule here is, "The transition duration cannot exceed twice the available half duration of the shortest clip being joined." In other words, "The total duration of a transition cannot be longer than the total available duration of the shorted clip being joined."

auto keyframe and auto transition not working and I have a creative cloud, in addition the auto keyframe works in the getting startel lessons....

In order to use these you need to have the autokey frame and transition selected
OFF ON
and have the first key checked then move the playhead to the new position and it should add the transition.

Transitions not working, help needed

Hi,
I updated to Snow Leopard and iLife 11 yesterday, my transitions on iMovie11 don't seem to be working, when I add them to the project they come up as a grey symbol with two small boxes overlapping each other. Anyone know what this is and how to fix?

I am now see this error msg (warning) see blow: Why would Gecko browsers (Netscape as Gecko, Sea Monkey, Firefox) all work and IE & Opera not work??

CSS transitions not working on iPad

Hello..
My CSS transitions are not working on the ipad at all
After a little research i'm wondering if this has to do with the z-index property of the elements i want to animate.
Could anyone tell me if i'm completely off-direction and/or what might be wrong.
The tabs on the bottom left corner of the page are supposed to animate up and display content, but they're not working at all... (work fine on desktops though)

Question: For this project, would you recommend providing separate CSS/using jquery to animate those sections under certain conditions only, or changing it alltogether and using jquery to animate the sections for all screens/devices?

Premiere Elements 10 Transitions not working

I have added cross disolve transitions to Premiere Elements 10, and tried increasing duration, but does not seem to work (just vague blurring). I have recorded to DVD to see if transitions visible, but to no avail.
I have been successful in Premier Pro 4 and Serif X5, but wish to use Premier Elements as easier to split timeline and make cuts (tedious in PremierPro 4). Can't afford Premier Prof 5!!
Downloaded from Canon HV 30 HDV camcorder. Over 20 hours of video to edit!
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.
There can be several reasons that a Cross-Dissolve (or some other Transitions) might not work.
One of the most common is that the user just makes a Cut, but does not alter the footage, and when they place the Cross-Dissolve over that Cut, there is not change, as the Frames have not changed.
The next is when one adds a Cross-Dissolve between Clips, that do not have adequate Handles, extra Frames, that are necessary for the Transition to function properly. This ARTICLE goes into more detail on Handles.
Do either of those situations have anything to do with what you are experiencing?
If not, can you post a screen-cap, showing the Clips, to which you are having issues with the Cross-Dissolve Transitions, and tell us exactly what you have done, prior to the addition of the Transition?

What are you trying to do?
The normal workflow is to only work on a single piece at a time in After Effects and then do your cutting and transitions in Premiere Pro.

Automatic Transition not working

Hi,
I have 5 Bullets set to appear 30 seconds aparts (they appear more like 50 seconds apart but that's not my problem.
My problem is that I would like the entire slide to transition automatically after 360 seconds. Which Keynote 3 refuses to do.
I can't even get the "on click" transition to work. Any idea how this can be fixed?
I obviously need to transition from the slide to the next.

You did set "Start Transition" on Slide inspector to "Automatically" and a value at "Delay"?
I tried smaller values (5 sec and 10 sec) and it worked.

Audio fade in and out in imovie 11 with a transition not working

When I fade audio out and fade audio in imovie 11 with a transition in between the fade would not work. If I remove the transition they would work. How can I fix this. If i reinstall life 11 would it lose my would or repair the issue.

I am having the same problem. I found a decent workaround:
At the point where you want to fade out, record a voiceover (using a mic) of silence. In other words, cover the microphone and record nothing for a second or two.
Then go into the audio settings for this voiceover and select the "ducking" checkbox, and change the setting so that all other tracks go to 0% sound when the voiceover is playing. The ducking feature has a built-in fader, so this way, when the silent voiceover comes on, it fades out the other track(s)--effectively giving you a fade-out effect on any concurrent track.
Not a perfect solution but can help...good luck!

Transitions not working in Premiere CS6.Video was color corrected in AE 6 and sent back to PPro cs6.

I exported my film to AE6 from Premiere CS6 for color-correction and got it back to Premiere Pro through DYNAMIC LINK.Now,the problem is that AE has discarded all the transitions and also cross-dissolve and film-dissolve don't seem to work on this color-corrected video.I am able to apply the transitions but they don't work....somebody please help!

As Jim said, not all effects and transitions are properly translated when you replace a group of clips with dynamically linked AE composition. Actually you should have noticed that your cross-dissolves etc. had been replaced with black solid layers in After Effects, which didn't reflect your PrPro transitions.
Now you can jump back to your AE project and fix broken transitions there.
For your future work you should keep it in mind and decide whether to replace a group of clips (and, therefore, fix broken transitions in After Effects) or a single clip, taking care of its handles.

Audio Transitions not working properly in Final Cut Pro 5.1.4

I am noticing that I can't change the audio transitions on the timeline as I used to be able to do. Now I get a prompt to go to the Browser and select the audio transitions there which is not how I've done it previously. Before, I just clicked on the timeline audio clip, made a transition and then typed the duration of the transition in the Viewer. So, I'm wondering if I should trash the plist for FCP or do something else? The video transitions seem to work fine as they always have.

Let me explain this better. When I click on an audio clip in the timeline I get this prompt:
No default transition to add. Please set a default transition in the Effects Tab in the Browser before performing this command.
I've never had to do this before, so I wonder if anyone knows why this suddenly is happening?

CS5 5.0.2 Update - Transitions not Working

So I just auto updated to Premiere CS5.0.2. For the most part everything seems to work ok.
I have an nVidia 285GTX based graphics card so I use the GPU Mercury Playback Engine.
However, any time I try and use one of the accelerated video transitions (dip to black, dip to white, etc) I do not see the video from the two clips I have applied it to (just whatever is under that on the timeline--the next video track).
If I switch from Mercury GPU accelerated to the Software Renderer, then I can see the accelerated transitions just fine.
nVidia graphics card: 285GTX
Driver: 258.96
Windows 7 64bit
12GB Ram

To me, this underscores one of the issues of PC - you can get a variety of components from different vendors and while everything works in theory, these little things can crop up. This is why doing the litany of things mentioned frequently by regular contributors is so valuable.

Transitions Not Working After Reimaging

At the high school I teach at we just completely reimagaed our Macs. Now when we try to use Final Cut the transitions will not drop to the timeline. There is a small x in the middle of the transition. Is there a setting I need to change? If you can please tell me the exact steps to change whatever I need to do.

Shane's Stock Answer #1: Trying to add a Transition and get the error "Insufficient Content"
A full 1 second cross fade reaches 15 frames into each clip. So, if you want to change a cut to a cross fade, there has to be at least 15 additional frames of each clip. Say you're trying to cross fade from one clip into the very first frame of a second clip. FCP cannot 'create' 15 more frames of the second clip to do a cross fade. If they're not there, you're out of luck.
What you are running into is that you are marking an out point at the far edges of a clip then adding a cross dissolve, say 30 frames (one second) in duration. Since the dissolve is centered on the cut, it will start 15 frames before the cut, and try to go 15 frames AFTER the cut...which it can't do. What you need to do is plan how long your dissolve will be and back-time your cut so that it works.
You need to make sure that your clips have enough media (called 'handles') at the beginning of the incoming clip and at the end of the outgoing clip for the transition. For example, if you have a 1 second (30 frame) dissolve, your in and out point need to be at least 15 frames from the edge of the clip.

"Page peel" transition not working...

I have overlaid a graphic onto my timeline (oops, I mean storyline) and I want it, and only it, "lay" onto the image in a Page peel manner. The trouble is though that the entire screen image is being overlaid as opposed to just the graphic. Anyone have any idea how I can get the transition to just affect the graphic and not the entire screen?

Perhaps you need to clarifywhat your problem is. Maybe post some screenshots because it works perfectly for me.
Make sure you have the Direction popup set correctly.

So you confimr what i think, the only "useful" way is to split the cut and use the handles!
Ok, Apple want to have a new editing filosofy, but anyway have to mean that you can do all the things you have done until now with FCP7!
Editing a stupid interview with audio transitions is so difficult that i preseume editing a 40 min documentary will be a very very hard work!!!
I dont understand the Apple filosofy, is obvious that quite all the editors will use Media Composer 5 in the future!!!
The only way for FCPX to survive in the pro world is a new reliese very very soon!!!
Also because an home editor use iMovie and also 250€ are too much for him, a professional editor cant use FCPX really now! And not only why there isn't the multicam or the tape workflow, but because also the basic editing need a lot of clic, more than before, too for us!!!

CSS3 transitions not working anymore

I am a webdesigner and I frequently work with CSS3 transitions. Today however, Safari just quit working with CSS3 transitions such as fades and slides. I don't know why, but it has just stopped working.
For example, the background on www.willems-design.com fades out, but now only transition to the next background, without the fade animation. 3 hours ago, it still worked perfectly fine. I did not change anything regarding to the website and it still fades on other computers.
Does somebody know the solution to my problem?

Transitions not working on simultator or preview

Hi!
I know it must be a frequent question but I just didn't found any answer on the forum except deadlinks… so here it is:
When I want to add a transition between 2 menus, the preview and the simulator are showing white image. After the project is build the transition is there ok. But it's really difficult to work blind!
Maybe it's hardware problem but I have 3 Nvidia video GEforce 7300 cards in my macpro 6Go RAM and on each screen I have, same problem! On my small Macbook, no problem: transitions in preview and simulator are showing! That's strange isn't it? Everything brand new reinstalled, delete prefs and everything… do I have to make my professional work on my small machine? sounds weird…

small precision, I changed the settings of my hardware cards to maximum speed of one screen, same problem so it's not a hardware speed problem, could DVDSP not Nc-vidia compatible?
