Transitions now blurred, pixelated

I have cleared preferences, repaired disk, tried the video all over. Any transition, fade in or out, long or short.. for some reason they are really messing up my vid. I am using a plug in to put a static pic (watermark) on the vid. But I have tried adding the transitions before, after and without the watermark ... videos still pixelating the clips in and out of the transitions.
Never had this issue before. Any ideas or advice will be appreciated?

Problem cleared when not exporting to HD, which I'd done without problems before .. not sure if that helps.

    Galdaplh,
What do you mean by "reverting to photo"?  "Revert" is not a function in Aperture so you must be talking about something else.
If you just performed the import of that many photos, Aperture will take some time to generate thumbnails.  You can see if it is doing this sort of thing by {Command}-{Shift}-0 to show the Activity window.
Once Aperture generates all its thumbnails, you will have nearly instantaneous access to much, much better thumbnails than Aperture uses immediately after importing photos.

    Hi Simon,
my concern was that a small inaccuracy of the input could result in a large inaccuracy of the output, similar to the difference of two nearly equal numbers. The method seems to make use of the perspective distortion of rectangles which sometimes is small, particularly if the distance is large and the patches are small. But I have convinced myself that the problem is academic and nothing to worry about, at least if one keeps to the recommendations of the shooting guide. Nonetheless I think that it is a good idea to check each profile by means of a test image before one uses it routinely. Thank you for your help!

  • SOS - pic quality sharp thru slideshow transition, then "settles" pixel-y

Hi, Desperate for immediate help b/c the slideshow I made has to be played later today at a memorial service. Also not sure whether or not I should post in iMovie or iDVD, but starting here.
Created a slideshow, 115 images, cross dissolve transition (so I could "bulk" add the transition), 4 audio clips, and photoshop-created title and ending slides. I could SWEAR the first time I watched the slideshow WITHOUT transitions, every picture looked normal.
Now when I watch the final product, I can see the new pic transition in and at the last second, when the picture is its sharpest, it's like it loses focus slightly and becomes pixel-y.
Then just before it transitions out, it gets crisp again.
Sound familiar to anyone? Any fixes?
    Thanks!
    Elizabeth

    Hi
Please rephrase. I'm not smart enough to get it.
If I do a SlideShow in iMovie HD 6 - Then I don't Use the Share to iDVD function from
within iMovie. To me it's been harmfull in two ways
    • Resulting DVD is severely pixelated
    • Original in iMovie get's it's photos harmed = needs to be re-imported and re-built
I do when done in iMovie. Close it [cmd-Q]
Open iDVD and import the movie project.
This will force iDVD to do the rendering and so much better.
Else I use FotoMagico to do Slide Shows (incl in Roxio Toast™ 10 pro bundle)

  • Contact pic now blurred

So previously to iOS 7 I was able to sync my contacts from my Mac to my iPhone now I cannot do this through iTunes. I used to do this in order to have the small contact pictrue appear on my screen when an a call was made in/out. I tried to remedy this by logging into iCloud and changing the pics but now when a call is made or received the picture takes over the enitre screen and worse of all its blurred. Can anyone help me get the small pics back? Thanks.

Same answer as others. There isn't any setting or any option for that in the current version of iOS. You can make a suggestion to Apple at http://www.apple.com/feedback/

  • I can't see my contact's image when dialing using ios 7, it's now blurred!  Help!

Since updating to ios 7, when I dial out, my contact's image would show up on screen.  This made it helpful so I was sure I was calling the right person.  NOW,  it is blurred under the dial pad... can I change the opacity, or fix this some how????  Oh please help.

I noticed that too. I don't have too many pictures in my contact list. So it really didn't cause too much of an issue for me. I haven't found a way to remove the opacity of the screen. I did notice that the picture now shows up in the favorites list.

  • Blurred, Pixelated, Lined slideshow

I'm using 6.0.3 iDVD. The photos I'm using are from iPhoto to iMovie to iDVD. I preview my slideshow on iMovie and it looks clear and great. After exporting it to iDVD the outcome after the "burn" is blurred, and lined pictures.
I again made another slideshow from iMovie and again, it's Clear and Great. I sent the file to QuickTime hoping the blurriness and lines would go away. I played on QuickTime and again it's Blurred and Lined.
Something must be happening in iMovie when it's exporting?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

I have never found a quality difference between the "Share/Export to iDVD" function, and going to iDVD and importing.
I have tried both methods with iMovie 06 and iDVD 06, as well as iMovie 09 and iDVD 09.
I now primarily use the iMovie 06 and iDVD 09 combination and I have never found a quality difference between the "Share/Export to iDVD" function, and going to iDVD and import.
I don't understand how iDVD can NOT do all the rendering.
After I share my movie with iDVD, I quit iMovie 06, so iDVD 09 is the ONLY application running.

  • CSS Transitions now create a black rendering bar momentarily

Check this - so whenever CSS transitions occur on our site they seem to cause a momentary black rendering issue (see: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/3255103/whut.png) - you can try it out here: v5.bsidestudios.com (must have newest firefox 33.1) - if anyone can help with this it would be greatly appreciated. we need to determine if it is something we did - or something firefox needs to figure out?

Well I take it back, it solved it - I just tried it. Thank you

  • Album Art is blurred or just pixels

When a song is playing, the album art is just a bunch of random pixels. But if hit the select button and scroll to only album art, it looks normal. What I dont get is that the blurred pixels is a smaller image than the image that shows up correctly.

Does a Reset help? The iPod has to rescale the image twice for display - first for the thumbnail, then again for the quasi-fullscreen. So it's not inconceivable that one could get messed up and not the other.

  • Camera RAW 4.1 Blur Issue

I updated to the new version of Camera RAW as soon as I learned it was available. I am running Windows Vista Business, and Photoshop Extended. My RAW files are generated by a Canon 20D camera. Right away I noticed that, even with sharpening Amount turned to Zero, I am getting a weird rippling effect in the areas where my images go out of focus. It's almost like the effect you would get with the Glass filter with a small amount of distorion. The areas where the image is in focus, there doesn't seem to be a problem, it's in the transition to blur where I really see the effect. I reverted back to my previous version of Camera RAW and the problem goes away. This effect, whatever it is, is unacceptable, and I certainly hope it is a bug, not a feature. Has anyone else seen this or have a comment?

    > "I am getting a weird rippling effect in the areas where my images go out of focus".
I downloaded the TIFF image http://www.eclecticimagery.com/composite.tif
and superimposed the ACR 4.0 and ACR 4.1 versions as separate layers on top of one-another, pixel-aligned. I then spent some time clicking the visibility of the top layer.
Even at 200% and 400%, all I can see it that ACR 4.1 appears to be very slightly sharper, and has slightly less noise.
I can't detect the "weird rippling effect" that the original poster mentioned. I think there was a very slight amount of small-scale posterisation in the ACR 4.1 image, perhaps resulting from a reduction in the amount of "dither" that was present in ACR 4.1 because of the reduced amount of noise.
I converted the ACR 4.1 layer ready for Smart Filters, and applied Noise at 1 (I would have prefered less) and Gaussian Blur at 0.3, to try to get a match between them (Noise below Gaussian Blur). When I toggle between them, the effect is far less, although not exactly the same.
But this does suggest that one way of making ACR 4.1 look like ACR 4.0 is to add a combination of noise & blur!

  • Quality of photos BAD in iDvd5- is iDvd 6 any better? Jaggies, blurring...

I've found that the quality of photos is BAD in iDvd5- and I want to know is iDvd 6 any better? Jaggies, blurring, pixelation... nothing NEAR the quality of the original photos. I've read a bunch of old posts on this topic, and I know I can't expect pristine quality from my 10 megapixel camera files, but I CAN expect something better than the crap I'm getting out of iDVD. The slideshows I'm getting in iMovie are great, I just can't burn to DVD for clients. I've tried making them in iMovie but I have the same problem- plus I'd like to bypass iMovie altogether as all my images are stills, no video (for this project anyway).
I've tried everything other people have recommended- saving to quicktime and then importing or dragging into iDvd, applying ken burns first so it won't render, changing the quality settings... anything that anyone has said might help. Still getting crappy DVDs. I think I've wasted about 20 DVDs by now.
I'll buy the new iLife pack if iDvd 6 is any better (currently running iDvd5). I'm hearing that this is apple's problem, not ours, and none of the fixes I've been trying are working. If I can't find a solution soon I'm going to have to buy some non-apple software.

Your expectations are probably too high for what can be achieved usinmg today's DVD technology. Read Preparing images for DVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/6.0/en/17.html for information about image size requirements for iDVD. 'Throwing' to large a file at iDVD can actually make the final image quality poorer that using a smaller image size as recommended in the article because of QuickTime resizing issues.
Today's NTSC DVDs are less than 640x480 pixels. That's all you get. Period.
Roxio's Toast Titanium 8 offers a photo disc option that produces an auto running slideshow in XP machine and only requires a double-click to run under Mac OS 10.4. This approach puts your full res images on the disc which are then available to anyone who has the disc. Since this approach is COMPUTER based and NOT DVD based, image quality on a computer screen is very good.
I have recently put together several large slideshows with FotoMagico. The default setting was less than optimum, put with a little playing around I was able to produce DV movies with excellent image quality. After iDVD compression, the image quality was better than I could get with a slideshow created in iDVD directly. Image sharpness was good. However, it is still only 640x480 resolution and thus hardly high resolution.
It would be possible to put the DV movies I created in FotoMagico on a DVD data disc. I suspect users would have to then copy the DV movie to their hard drive in order to get a high enough data rate for good playback.
Bottom line: for maximum image quality on playback stay away from creating a video DVD and use Toast 8 to create a photo disc that is played back on a computer.
If you need a video DVD, FotoMagico (or Photo to Movie) will probably give you better slideshow image quality than iDVD. But 640x480 is still only 640x480!

  • Why is my rendered color corrected movie pixelated with jagged edges after rendering?

    Hello All,
I am new short film movie producer and have just started using Adobe Premiere CS6 and Audition CS6.  Comparing my flat footage before adding it to a sequence and color correcting it and rendering it, it looks fair.  But after all these transitions it now looks pixelated along with very jagged edges.  This is my first short film for my first client and I am at my witts ends!  I have tried to copy the sequence and transfer it to a new sequence with differnt settings comparing the pixel aspect ration, fps, trying to match the clips specs and I am so stuck. Can anyone please offer any suggestions or let me know if there are procedures I have overlooked.  Thanks Adobe Community.
    Michael Diaz

Let's back up a step - what camera do you use? If it's an HDV model, then yes you have anamorphic footage. Simply choose an HDV sequence preset to match. If your camera shoots 720p or full 1920x1080, those are square pixel (1.0) formats and are not anamorphic (anamorphic does NOT mean widescreen, it means "stretched to widescreen" basically).
In any case, drag a clip to the New Item button for best results until you get more educated and confident about the different formats you may be working with.
If you copied and pasted the contents of the SD sequence into an HD sequence, all filters and effects you had applied before should remain intact and not need reworking, except possible for titles and things involving scaling (since the size has changed).
As for exporting, you typically will NOT want an anamorphic export, except for widescreen DVD. You will not see anamorphic mentioned though, just choose "MPEG-2 DVD" and an appropriate widescreen preset and Adobe knows what to do from there. For web/computer viewing, best to avoid anamorphic footage, since many players assume 1.0 PAR and do not adjust the image for non-square pixels. So if working with 1440x1080 footage, and exporting to web or YouTube for instance, export as 1920x1080 (1.0) or 1280x720 (720p) so the viewer sees the proper 16:9 output, or the image may be squished otherwise!
    Thanks

  • When I resize an image 4-5 times it blurs automatica

Can someone please please HELP !!!
When I paste an image into Fireworks and start to resize it
using the mouse. The image starts to blur. The more and more I
resize it say 4-5 times the image becomes un clear. It seems there
is an automatic blur on the image. Never set anything. It does for
every image. If you try opening a jpg or bmp in fireworks and start
to resize it using mouse (drag window to appropriate size) you will
notice the image becomes blurry. Why is this ? Driving me nuts !!!
    Please reply ASAP.
    many thanks
    Dean

That is exactly what everyone has been saying.
Make it smaller - you resample the image. Now those pixels
    are
lost, period. So when you make it bigger there is a lot less
    information
therefore the original quality is no longer there.
If you need to, play around with the size of an image until
    it fits the
design by changing the size back and forth. Once you are
    satisfied with
the design reimport the image one more time and ONCE make it
    the right
size. Or use senocular's tip on making the image a symbol
    first.
btw, at you will also get image distortion with your method
    in Photoshop.

  • Unsung New Feature:  Tilt-Shift Blur

Have you ever wanted to make a photo seem to have shorter depth of field?  Prior to Photoshop CS6 this was no small feat to achieve digitally and end up with a pleasing and visually believable result.
Photographers know that setting the aperture wide can change the mood of a shot completely.  Sometimes getting the DOF just right can make the difference between an "also ran snapshot" and an award winning photograph.
With today's smaller digital sensors - and even with big sensors if too small an aperture is available - sometimes we get an image that's exposed right, that's composed well, that's caught the moment...  But...  More of it is sharp than we'd like, and the background or foreground is simply distracting.
Enter the new Photoshop CS6 blur filters.
With the Tilt-Shift variant, one can progressively blur pixels based on a definable gradient/mask, so that we get that familiar progressive front-to-back blur change.
Armed with this powerful new capability, and with the subject masking/separation facilities we've had for a couple of versions now, this becomes possible:
    1.  Separate subject from surroundings with a good mask - e.g., quick select, refine edge, make a new layer with just the parts you want to remain sharp showing on it.  A good mask isn't difficult to make any more!  Hide this layer when done.
    2. Remove the subject, at least around the edges, from the background layer underneath, e.g., by selecting using the above mask, expanding the selection, and doing Content Aware Fill and/or Cloning.  This is important because in the subsequent blur operation we don't want parts of the sharp subject blurring into the background.  That just looks weird.
    3. Use Photoshop CS6's Tilt-Shift Blur to visually shorten the DOF in the background layer, with the center point and unblurred region set to coincide with the position of the subject in the shot.  Adjust the settings to taste, which isn't as much of a crap shoot any more since the blurs actually update in real time on screen.
    4.  Make the layer above visible, maybe do some things with the lighting (which is fairly easy, now that subject is separated from the background), and voila, a whole new feel to the photo.
    Consider this example...

    After:
Almost as good as a new $10,000 lens!

    Thanks.
Any idea why we can't use them as Smart Filters?
No idea, other than the possibility that the Adobe people struggled so hard to get all the new functionality done in time for release that they didn't have time to think about the finer points of integrating the new designs into the existing features.  It's not the only instance of this kind of omission.
Noting that this new concept of the blur functions acting more like a new "mode" of Photoshop than a filter plug-in...  The workspace changes, but instead of popping up a whole new UI, we just stay right in Photoshop.  You and I might agree that such an implementation change should have been designed to work smoothly together with all the existing facilities, but I get the distinct impression that Adobe doesn't feel that level of compatibility in every new design is as important as we do, and may simply have not thought all the implications through - incredible as that may sound.
Some new stuff doesn't work with actions, other stuff doesn't work with smart filters, still other stuff works differently when accelerated vs. non-accelerated...  One could be forgiven for getting the impression that the Adobe team was just barely capable of delivering the features they have here, vs., delivering a well-designed, completely integrated, well-tested solution.  Part of that is that it's 13.0, but I think part of it must have to do with them being tasked to do too many things with the funding they have.

  • Dark spots appear in transitioning lock/home screen

When you guys unlock your iphone 5s screen using your fingerprint, do you see a really fast black spots on the top half of screen? Like during the transition between the lock screen and the home screen - it lasts about 0.5 second. The spots are not from water damage since I just got my phone 20 days ago and it hasn't touched water yet. This problem appeared after I updated to iOS version 7.1.1
I changed my background to a different color and now the pixels are white.
