Transitions Render Black or White in HD

After completing a 1080p HD montage with 100 photos (shot with my SONY Z5U camera and converted to stills), after rendering, many of the transitions and several of the stills became black or white. Why?

I'd try cleaning your media cache, trash your prefs and if that doesn't work, take a look at your video card drivers.  Let me know if this helps at all.

  • Render background black is not really black and white is not really white

    Goodday,
I have problem when i try to render movies from Premiere Pro CS4 in Adobe Media Encoder.
When it is has black background or a white background and i want to render it in Adobe Media Encoder the color shifts a little bit. Black gets really dark grey and white is not white anymore.
I import the composition in Media Encoder and make a WMV from it with all its values to the max. I also tried a few different codecs, but non of them keeps the background black or white.
what can i do to solve the problem?
    sincerly,
    3Demian

It's possible you have got some "sit-up" on the black. Do you have access to a 'scope? Not the rubbish thing in PrPro. If you have then look at the line timebase in the output and check the position of the 0 level after the back porch (after the line sync period). An overly raised black level (pedestal) in the video period will cause the blacks to look grey. If you are using a Proc Amp anywhere in the output then check the setup.
Similarly, raising the black level can cause clipping on your whites, which can result in the white not looking "white" depending upon how much it's being clipped and the setup of the clipping device threshold.
    Just a thought.

Hi everyone, I'm the one from the example above posted by @frankensinatra and I can confirm having the same problem.
But I want to add something. The problem is not only related to black and white but to every picture, and it can be worse or not depending on the range of colors involved. Apparently, there is a shift between some RGB value that is going to remove some green producing a magenta look.
I've started contacting some developer about this problem and some of them is trying to understand what's going on.
In my case, the problem came up when I bought the new iPad mini Retina. I didn't have this problem with the previous iPad mini. Same OS for both devices.
The photo you see in the link above is a perfect example of what happens just going from one app to another and saving to the camera roll. In that case, the situation doesn't change if I send that picture from within the app by email, or to another app using the "open in..." feature. It keeps being purple. And the problem can be reproduced all the time.
Have some of you noticed the same?

  • Flattened png. files only render in black and white

    Hi,
I have been working with fireworks on a daily basis for over
a year now, and I have never come across this problem. I think it's
either a setting, or I have some sort of bug. But here's whats
going on: I design websites and so I use lots of .png files
(flattened of course) Recently all of flattened png files are
rendering only in black and white. By that I mean I save them in
color, and then when I save them they turn black and white, and I
can only tell this once I reopen them. Even if I go into the
options section when you are saving a doc, and I can choose the
format, and then underneath that the palette, the palette itself is
somehow always set to grayscale, and so I will change it to web
adaptive which is my usual setting. Has anyone had this problem
before. The only way around it that I have found is by first saving
my project as a jpg, and then going back into fireworks and then
saving it as a flattened png.

  • Lightroom changes color photos to black and white error

When I import NEF files into LR, they initially display as Colour, then during the render process, LR changes them to black and white. It has never down this in the past, is there a reson why LR is doing this now? The photos are colour (as shown in Capture NX and Windows explorer), and during importing, I selected 'None' for the develop setting. Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Thank You :-)
Particulars: Lightroom 2, Files: NEF (Nikon D300),OS: Windows XP Pro

Thanks Jao, much appreciated...I must of changed the develop setting...now that I recall, I did go into the Develop->Set Default Settings recently. The reset resolved the issue.
    Thank You...CK

  • How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.

How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.  Or, covert the color to B&W in a new doc?

    > How can I convert a pages color document to a PDF Black and White doc.  Or, covert the color to B&W in a new doc?
The general idea is that you colour correct photographs once, archive, and convert with or without colour changes. The archived photograph is unchanged - or we would be colour correcting the same photographs again and again and again.
If you have a photograph with a corrected exposure, you can open the photograph in the Apple ColorSync Utility, apply a colour space conversion to a grayscale appearance using the preinstalled ICC profile, save the photograph under another name, and place that in your pagination.
If you have a paginated document with corrected exposures, and any such non-scalable bitmap or scalable spline graphics as you have chosen to add, you can render the pagination as a whole to PDF through the same ICC profile, carrying out the same colour space conversion on any and all objects.
Caveat: If you intend the pagination for certain processes, in particular offset lithography, then you are probably  expected not to render the type to grayscale, but rather to render it to single ink solid black. No software can determine what printing process you intend, you have to understand a bit about printing, and how to set up general colour space conversions in software. Ask your prepress provider, and if the answer is not prompt and proficient, pick another provider.

  • Why can't I use the fade to black and white option in iMovie '11?

I have a project that uses a few photos with one minute duration timers I want to slowly fade from color to black and white but the fade to options are all greyed out... Am I over looking something or doing something wrong?

    Exiled Angel wrote:
....it's the color in the pictures I want to gradually reduce the saturation on until they are black and white before the transitions start, not fade in or out to a black or white screen like you are suggesting.
Sorry, but I wasn't suggesting that you use Fade to Black or Fade to White, just explaining what they do, given that you used the term "fade" in your first post. I assumed you may have been using the Fade to Black transition (which won't achieve what you want).
I suggested that you use Cross Dissolve, but I need to explain further how to achieve the effect you are looking for. First, you need to place a copy of the photo directly after the original. Make sure Ken Burns is turned off - use Fit. Now double-click on the copy to bring up the Clip Inspector. Click on Effects and select Black & White, then click Done. Drag a Cross Dissolve transition between the 2 clips (photos) and adjust the duration to your liking in the Inspector. Now you will see the effect your are looking for.
The key is to have an exact copy of the photo following the original, then change the copy to Black and White (or Sepia or any other effect), then insert the Cross Dissolve (or Cross Blur etc.) transition.
Hope that''s what you are looking for!

  • Whatssap background photo black and white

For the life of me I can't figure this out and it is driving me bananas!!!!!
Just a little while a go the picture I have on the background of my chat windows on whatssap messenger turned black and white.
Here is everything I tried to get it back to color:
change the picture to another color picture
reset the wall paper withing whatssap chat settings and then select a totally different color picture
    shut down app and re-start
    shut down iphone and re-start
    reset iphone and re-start
delete whatssap messenger and reinstall, after reinstall select a totally different color picture
None of these render my chat background picture to be in color.  It is in black and white.
My last resort would be to put the iphone back to factory settings but I want to avoid that as I have a 64 gig iphone full of stuff and it will take a long time to re-insert the backup.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    RESOLVED!!!
    Solution from the whatssap developers:
A grayscale chat wallpaper is usually caused by having "Darken Colors" enabled in the Increase Contrast settings (iPhone Settings > General > Accessibility > Increase Contrast).
The next version of WhatsApp for iPhone will retain the wallpaper's color while the Darken Colors setting is enabled. Until then, please leave this setting disabled, or choose a black and white chat wallpaper. Unfortunately we cannot comment on any future timelines, sorry.

  • NTSC version in black and white

I converted an iDVD project from PAL to NTSC format. Both worked well on my Mac, but my Dad said his NTSC copy played in black and white on their (NTSC) DVD player.
Any explanations for it and suggestions about what I can do to solve the problem?
    Thanks,
    Caroline
    iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Hej Bengt. I think I did that.
I started the new iDVD project by changing to NTSC format from the Preferences before putting (again, which I did earlier for the PAL version) the pictures, transitions and music. Then I added movies which were converted to NTSC from PAL, and then burned the project on a DVD.
The movies and slideshows are all in B&W.

  • Edit view changes black and white photos to "negative" effec

I'm having a strange problem with certain black and white photos. In thumbnails, they look fine. But when I view them in Edit mode, or double click one to see the detail, it switches over so that it looks like a negative.
Anyone have any idea what the cause of this is, and how to fix it?
    Thanks much,
    S

You can't take black and white photos with a digital camera. They all have an RGB sensor, so they all shoot full colour. What happens is that your camera tags the photo with a label > show me in B%W. iPhoto doesn't know about this label, so it shows you the image as it is.
Going forward, you'll probably be able to render better versions of B&W on your computer than with your camera. You'll have more control.

  • Strange black and white capture on DV NTSC camera

    Hello,
I am currently using a Canon ZR100 camcorder for a project of mine, and I capture the film with Premiere Pro CS3. It has been capturing correctly in color for a week, and then suddenly, just two days ago, it began capturing in a monochrome/black and white. On the preview window while it is capturing the film, it is black and white, but when I actually have the clip on the timeline of PP, it is in color. When I render the video, it turns back into black and white. This is all very confusing, because the clip turns into color once placed on the PP timeline.
If someone knows what is going on, like a broken firewire or something, please help!
    Thank you

    Anyone else has an idea?
The subject has been discussed here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2136106&start=60&tstart=0 and apparently the problem is fixed with OS 10.6.3.
    But I'm using 10.5.8! Thanks.

  • HT3669 I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

I have an HP deskjet color printer that only prints in black and white from my mac ... how do I get it to print in color

Check the printer itself.  Some printers you need to set the color & B&W settings on the printer itself instead of the Mac.   If that is not the case w/your printer, contact HP tech support and/or post in their forums if they have one.

  • How can I get my printer to print in color? I can only print black and white

HP Officejet 6500 E710n-z-------windowsxp      My printer will not print anything in color.   How can Iget my printer to print in color?  I can only print in black and white.    It is a new Printer and we just installed it 2 wks ago.

I am not sure I understand ''it still will not print. ''
If you cannot see any content on pages you printed or in print preview, the cause might be margins which are set too high.
#In order to check the margins, we need to go to ''File'' > ''Page Setup''.
#Once this is done, switch to the ''Margins & Header/Footer'' tab.
#Check what's set there under ''Margins''.
The following are the default values for ''Margins'':
    '''Right''': 12.7
    '''Top''': 12.7
    '''Left''': 12.7
    '''Bottom''': 12.7
Check these values accordingly and change them if necessary.
