Translate Forms words in French
Hi to all,
I'm French. Consequently, I would like to translate some words, related to Forms.
For example, I would like to know how to translate terms like :
- Forms Runtime Process
- Forms Listener Servlet
Thanks a lot
I don't think you could really translate these terms without losing their actual meaning.
In the french technical literature pretty much all these words are not translated (Servlet, Listener, Process, Runtime) so I don't see any translation which would apply for these two components.

Changing Form settings to French
Hello,
I have changed the settings of my form to be in French . I did this by going into File/Form Properties/Defaults and changing the Form Locale to French (Canada). There are multiple date fields with Calendars on the form. When the user chooses a date in the future (on my English form) an error message appears saying they are unable to choose a future date. The date then appears in the field, but if they try to submit the form, they get the error message again.
On my French version, if the user tries to select a future date, the date does not appear in the field, nor does the error message come up. If they first choose a date that is valid the date appears, but if they go back and change it to a future date then the error message appears.
Does anyone know why this might be happening? I would like the message to appear whenever they choose a future date.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: I've run steps 1-5 on my test app, works perfectly. As described in the documentation I've created a new entry for the application, generated an XLIFF file, exported it to my local system, translated some of the target words, imported it again, applied it and published the application and changed the application language to the new, imported language (file).
If it's not working for you, can you describe the steps you took in detail?

Translation from WORD to Pages
We receive all of our documents from clients created in WORD (not the 2008 version). When we open these document in Pages, tables that are very detailed- that is, they have many rows and columns are not converted accurately. Column lines tend to be missing and Pages has a difficult time redrawing them. Is there a supplemental program that would assist Pages with the translation of tables?
The answer is "no." There is no supplemental program.
Keep in mind that the more complex the document, the less accurately it translates between Word and Pages. If the only problem is the lines in the column or the table formatting, but the data is intact and you retain the correct number of columns and rows, you have options.
One is to select the table then convert to text using Format>Table>Convert Table to text. Then convert it a Pages table by reversing the process - Format>Table>Convert text to table, then format that table.
Another is to select the table and copy it into Numbers, format it and copy it back to Pages.
If you are losing data or the data is misplaced in its columns and rows, start with the Word table. It probably includes merged cells. As the Word users to remove them.
If formatting is the only issue and the data is otherwise legible, why not wait until the document is in its final form before formatting it?

Translate Site English and French in ColdFusion
I am on this project where we need to allow users from French speaking countries to be able to view the webpages and surf the site in French. I am kind of lost on the best appraoch to get this done. Please any one has an idea of where to start?
The site is working now in English and there is a databse (MS SQL Server 2005) set up also in English.
How do I translate the site to French.
The database does it have an in-built translator that will do this translation for us?
ThanksWell it's certainly no small task you're undertaking there, but there are a couple of ways of doing it as far as I know.
The first is to store all the phrases in all languages in an XML file, then pull the correct outputs depending on the current language. For example: (pseudo, obv)

You then load each language into a structure in the APPLICATION scope (call it APPLICATION.LANG), then pretty much everywhere in your code you need to output something you'd instead do:

Or similar.
The other approach is similar, but involves having the phrases saved in database tables and doing a similar thing.
And sadly no, you'll struggle to find anything that can reliably translate for you - certainly not a database.

Translate Forms using Forms API

How can we use the Oracle Forms Open API to modify labels for a language of a already translated form with transle builder without affecting labels of other languages.I suppose translatable strings can be modified before translation using Forms API's and not afterwards. Our application is developed using windows forms.
In our application the user will enter lots of notes and comments.
Which must be translated to either English or Arabic.
What issue we faced here is when I stored the fields like notes or comments in English in database and when I want to show it in Arabic.
That is when I translate a sentence to Arabic the meaning is not exact.
That is word translation is good but sentence translation is not exact.
We can use resx files if the words are static like text of label box. In my case the words are dynamic.
We are using Bing/MicrosoftTranslator.

Then for translation what we did are:
1. For translating predefined texts and error message we are using .Net language pack.
2. We used .resx files for static translation. That is for those controls whose texts don't change dynamically.
3. The dynamic texts will be stored as it is. That is if user types in Arabic then the data will be stored
in Arabic, else if the user types in English the data will be stored in English.
4. Then if the user wanted a translation in dynamic texts, we looped through all our text controls (which
are supposed to have those dynamic texts) and got the text of each controls. Then translated those texts using Bing/Microsoft-translator.
As we saw earlier, some part of the dynamic translation was not exact. So my client asked me what in
general is the percentage of
accuracy in "Bing/Microsoft Translator" translation. If you have any such documentation it will be very helpful for us.

Missing translations for Italian and French
Hello Experts, I have successfully installed a ECC 6.0 server-ABAP +JAVA system (DB2 v9.5 FP4 windows server 2008-x64 bit). Kernel: 700 , Patch: 185 ; SP level : rel 700 , level 17. I have created 3 clients : 100, 700, 701
I have installed 2 languages apart from default ones -- Italian and french.
My issue is there are missing translations for few transactions when i log in italian and french and this problem is only with client 100(clients 700, 701 have no missing translation issue).
For example, if i log in to client 100 in Italian or French and go to t-code FS00, the Tabs(Type/descripton,control data,Create/bank interest , Key word/translation, Informamtion (C/A) ) are displayed in english instead of italian or french.
I have already followed Note 1156507 - Language supplementation, RSREFILL and client maintenance.Still facing the same issue.Requesting expert help.Hi ,

Translate written words on flash player games
Question for anyone out there that has any suggestions or advice. My problem is I speak English but I have a few gaming sites that are french. The translator translates everything on the page accept for the written words that are included in the flash player game (Hope that makes sense.) I really like these game sites but a lot of the time I don't understand what I'm doing and/or what I'm winning/losing. It's very annoying so my question is..... Is there any way to translate French to English on games that use Flash Player?
ANY and ALL text in a Flash container is INSIDE the container and cannot be translated with plug-ins. The reason is that the content of a Flash container is NOT text and is NOT HTML.

JS CS3 script form word styles to indesign styles
I have search over the forums and can find a script the can change WORD styles (with a diskette sign) to Indesign paragraph styles (without the sign). Can any one help me on this?

We have mail merge working from 6i forms with Word 97. We are going to Word 2003, but I am having trouble getting the mail merge to work. The example on Metalink, note 297410.1, seems to be directed at data files in row format. Our data file is in table format. Below is part of our current working code. When it is run in 2003, the merge is not performed. I do not receive any errors. Any suggestions or examples would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can maintain the translations for the messages using the transaction SE91.You can create the messages using English language 'EN' and maintain the translation in other languages.
Using the menu path GOTO -> Translation, you can specify the translations for any language by selecting the desired language from the drop down list.
