Translate role description

We need to have the role description in two languages (English and German).
All roes have been build using an English logon so the only available description is currently in English.
We have been able to translate the menu entries, but the customer wants the description of the role to be in German when a user logs on in German.
We cannot find how to do that
Any ideas? Or rather experiences ??

i have simillar problem, i have to translate 1000+ rolls and i'm doing it nov 1 by 1 trough S16-}AGR_TEXTS where i find rolls and i copy paste AGR_NAME to SE63-}translation}ABAB objects-}short text}abap texts---}ACGR roles
But this is going very slow....is there another way? I tried to do a worklist but when but when I select under Standard worklist Object types----}ABAB texts--}ACGR roles and press Enter nothing happens.

Hi Armstrong,
I generally use the program Z_ROLE_SET_MASTERLANG to change the original language of the role for maintaining the role description . PLease try if this helps you in seeing the description as well in the language you need .
PLease ignore if you already know this and if My understanding of your doubt is not correct.

PFCG Role Descriptions and Longtext in a Second Language

Hello,
I am a bilingual key user who maintains PFCG user roles for my organization (usually in German). I want to maintain the longtext and description fields for these same roles for admins signed on in English so that a translated version in English appears matching my German text. How can I do this?

Please apply the note-854311 and follow the below mentioned procedure.
For changing role description, please run the report Z_ROLE_SET_MASTERLANG.
It will ask for Agr_name(Role name) and orgin_lang(required language)

Role description tranlsation

Hi,
I try to use one role with an english and a german description. First I create a role in DE system. Name "test role" and description "Dies ist ein Test!". Now I switch to the EN system and open the role again but I can't change the role description. I got the message "Text maintenance only possible for logon in the role's original lang. DE". What can I do to create a role with an english an a german description?

How to add a role description to the Role Library:Role Information Column

Hi to all,
I have an interesting question.I have a task to show a role description in the role sorting table information column.Is there any way to get this parameter ?
I tried with waveset.roleinfos.info.description but nothing happened.I saw that in some forms is used waveset.availableRoleInfos[$(rolename)].info.description, but i can not understand what is this parameter actualy for and from where it comes (and i did not get anything from it either when i tried with it).
So my question is is there any way i can add this description attribute to the Information role column ?

I am trying to retrieve BP Role and BP Role Description and display the details at the top of account over view page.
I am fetching the BP Role details using 'BuilRolesRel'. but i am not able to find any BOL Query to get Role Description.

under BuilRolesRel there is a entity BuilRoles and this entity has an Attribute RLCTITLE.
this is a Description of the role.

BRM message "Role Description cannot be updated" after generate

Hi SAP experts,
So I’m trying to configure BRM and everything looks good except for when trying to generate the role (single role) I’m getting the error “Role Description cannot be updated”. After doing some research I saw that note 1735705 should address the issue but after
trying to implement the note trough tcode “SNOTE” it comes grey out (message ”Cannot be implemented”) so I'm guessing is not relevant to our system. I can't really find anything else related to a similar issue in the community so I'm wondering what could be the issue here? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice; I was so focus thinking that the issue was related to language (Master role data vs Log) or access on my ID that I forgot about tracing the RFC user. The issue was due to missing authorization to manage roles from RFC user. Issue is now fix.

'role' description text from AM SDK

PROBLEM:
how do you get the role description text field from the AM SDK? this should be possible using an AMUser or AMRole object. 'roles' and 'policies' have a description field that we can use to tie specific data with that condition. i was advised to try and use a statement like the following
role.getAttribute("iplanet-am-role-description");

role.getAttribute("description");
RESULT:
both return empty strings or sets (refer to code below). i know that the data is there, it shows up in the amconsole for roles and policies. also, using the admin console for the directory server, the description information is displayed.
i've also run cmd line ldapsearches against the directory server, looking for 'description' and 'iplanet-am-role-description'; these return empty, no error code. it's advertised as an attribute so i believe i should be able to find it. as previously stated using the admin console java app, those attributes associated with the 'role' object at the dc=mycompany,dc=com level are displayed, but not from a command line ldap search. it should also be noted that the performance of looking at a user object, w/ the admin console tool, is very slow. which may point in the direction that the admin console is also gathering the users, role, policy information from other objects w/in ldap. for example looking a user's definition, it displays amrole and amroledn, which are not directly stored attributes w/in the user's object.

PFCG cannot change/update role description

I have a few roles that I need to change their descriptions to "not in use" i.e. Z:SP_ACCESS_TO_PPOMA_BBP. I go into PFCG, paste the role, select the Changes button, but I cannot change the role description. Can somebody help me out and tell me what I need to do in order to change the Description because for some I can and for other I cannot.

When you try to change this role, does it give some message in the status bar....
The message could be..1. it is not customer name space...
or
2. The message could read that the role text can be maintained in a particular login language..
In case 1, consult your basis, they should be able to tell you if you can modify the non custom namespace, they have a configuration in transport management i guess (SE03).[ Transport organizer tools].
In case 2, login with the language mentioned in the status bar...When you log in you type ur user id, password and the language mentioned, go to role and try changing.

Here i got struck up with an issue. I want to display role name and its description. But my problem is description is having more than a single line. I need to concatenate all the lines, But I don't know what to do here exactly. I need to display the output in LAV format. And one more thing the description length is more than 255 characters also in that case how to handle.

Role Description appears in UI as #MX_...._DN

If I set up a role in the Identity Centre Management console and define the description using the localized texts and set a description for the EN language, when I view that role in the IdM Management User Interface, it displays the technical display name #MX_..._DN instead of the english display name.
Is this a fault I need to raise with SAP or does someone know if there's a setting to control the resolving of the localized texts to the UI.
E.g ROLE:BUSINESS:STAFF is my role name (MSKEYVALUE), but the Display Name is localized with an EN description of 'Staff'. The Display Name value therefore in the role properties appears as #MX_ROLEBUSINESSSTAFF_DN. This is then what appears in the UI in stead of 'Staff'.

I have not used local text for roles, but I have used label attributes for tasks with a similar problem. I've found it takes a while for the local text to resolve (about 30 minutes), but if I stop and start the application in the J2EE Administrator Services-> Deploy->Applications it usually resolves it. We use 7.0 EHP1 version of the Portal for the UI.

Translating Task Description

Hi,
When I am including User Decision step in my Workflow, the standard task is added with description like
"Choose one of the decision options given. This completes the processing of this step...etc., "
If I am logging in using other language say 'Danish' then also this task description is appearing English only.
Is there any way that I can do the translation for the task description & use it for other logon languages??

Yes. I have the option to translate workitem text from workflow. I have done that already.
1) But I want to translate the Task Description for the particular task in PFTC. In the description tab of the task, there is an option to select other languages. For Std. Task, I am getting the option of 'Danish'. But for custom task I have created, Iam not getting the option 'Danish'.
2) Also I dont know how to use this option. I have logged on using English language. I want to add Danish description.So In which language I should maintain the description?
How can I acheive this?
