Translate this Software Update message for me?
I'm trying to update my Mac OS software. This is what appears:
The update "Mac OS X Update Combined (PowerPC) can't be installed.
The digital signature for this package is incorrect. The package may have been tampered with or corrupted since being signed by “Apple”.
OK, fine. But what do I do to fix this situation to allow the update to be installed?
Hi Mark,
Try downloading it again directly...
The combo update for PowerPC-based Macs...

by Ethernet if you can, iirc, last times I saw this problem was Software Update, Airport, or using a Proxy that caused it.

My Dell laptop (Operating on Windows XP) was hit with multiple viruses - I could not open Mozilla Firefox or any other applications for that matter. After much time and many attempts, I was finally able to install and run an AVG Scan and then an AVG PC Tune up. 4,559 problems found and repaired. After the repairs, I received the following message:
"Software Update - A security and stability update for Firefox is available: Firefox 3.6.18 - It is strongly recommended that you apply this update for Firefox as soon as possible. - an underlined link reading, "View more information about this update" and then 2 choices - "Ask Later" or "Update Firefox." Since part of the problem was with Firefox and some error messages pointed to that, I'm hesitant to click on any of the three options above. Can you help me to get past this error message, please. I am sending this from my home computer. Thank you. DianeSometimes the updater gets in a funny state - Go to http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ and download the full installer. Close Firefox and run the installer

I got a software update message this morning and clicked install and restart. Now my e-mail icon has disappeared from the dashboard. How do I get it back?
Don't recall the exact wording. But it is the same in appearance as others. Anyway, problem solved using RogerWilmut1 reply to someone else. I opened Applications and got the icon back. Thanks for responding.

How do I stop the Software Update messages without updating my software?
I keep getting Software Update messages asking me to update to Firefox 30.0 for a security and stability update. I do not wish to update any time soon, and I am tired of constantly getting these messages. The only two options I'm given is to "Ask Later" or "Update Firefox". When I hit the "Ask Later" button, the message keeps coming back very regularly. I don't want the message to keep coming back and I don't want to update. Is there a way to stop these messages from coming to me without actually updating?
Thanks.Firefox Menu > Options > Options

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

How do i Install the Software Update Server for Windows 7?
How do i Install the Software Update Server for Windows 7? I get an error saying: Can't Install the Software because it is not currently available from the Software Update server.
I downloaded the software so How do I install it?
Do I install it all over again or when I have windows open?
I am using Bootcamp.Back up your system drive completely. If you have no backup plan in place, now would be a good time to start. You can use CarbonCopyCloner to make a complete, bootable backup of your system on another drive or volume. After you have done this: download the combo update using the link supplied by Niel and run the installer.

Hi,
We planning to go one level higher to automat and have more dynamic Software Update Management for Windows Servers. We have SCCM 2012 R2, SCOM 2012 R2 and SCO 2012 R2.
Our plan is to pur server in an AD-Group to get Update Schedule, from the servers will be importet to an Collection for Automatic Update and reboot. If I understand Everything right SCOM can't read AD-Group and put then in an Schedule maintenance mode. SCOM
can read reg value as exempel.
IS there any smar way to make the SCOM Maintenance Mode Schedule dynamic?
I found this
http://www.scom2k7.com/scom-2012-maintenance-mode-scheduler/?
/SaiTechYou could use Orchestrator to put the servers from a specific collection, or AD group, in maintenance mode in SCOM. For an example see:

Software Update Checks for Updates at Start Up Even When Off
I had problems with Software Update struggling to updating my Macbook's firmware (I solved it by updating the firmware outside of Software Update with Installer), I am now having problems with Software Update.
Software Update checks for updates everytime I start up my computer - even when I have Software Update checks turned off in System Preferences. Is there a way to correct this?I, too, am having this same problem. However, I'll need a little patience from everyone. The last Mac I used was an SE30 and now about 15-18 years later I have 3 PC desktops and 3 PC laptops in my house. But... I'm exploring getting back to Mac and have a MacBook Pro that's exactly 10 days old. No problems until 2 days ago and now every time I boot, the little software update icon is bouncing on my Dock. It searches and then tells me there are no updates to install. Pretty annoying having it do this every start up. I've checked apple>system preferences>software update and unchecked it (so that it should be off). Still shows up on next boot.
So, I tried to follow your suggestion about top level HD > preferences, but haven't quite figured out the Mac OS enough to know where these preferences are that you're directing me to. Could you possibly be a bit more granular for this Mac novice?
Thanks a ton. These little system annoyances are why I've decided to try and break the PC grip on my life and it's a little disappointing to already have one on my mac. At least on the PC I know how to get rid of these things, but I'm still learning this Mac stuff.
Thanks again,

Software update instructions for Nokia Asha 501
Hey,
software update instructions for Asha 501 can be found from here:
http://www.nokia.com/global/support/software-update/new-nokia-asha-software-update
By default your phone is set to automatically check for updates every 8 days and you will be notified when an update is available for download. If you want, it's possible to force the update check immediately by switching off and back on "Check via mobile data" setting from the “Phone update” menu. The size of the update is around 8 MB, so it's recommended to use Wi-Fi for the download.

Nokia Asha 501 OTA software update onepager v1.1.pdf 361 KBDear Nokia Software Employee,
Thank you for the new nokia 501 update.
However I am interested to get another new update concerning:
1) Wireless configuration:
It will include security mode of 802.1x, and EAP plug-in settings such as EAP-LEAP, EAP-PEAP, etcc....
2) Keep applications minimized instead of closed:
Sometimes there are some applications need to be minimized and not to be closed
Ex: Applications such Athan, Prayers, Quran, etccc...
3) Some Applications menu not working with screen touch but working with key buttons
There are some applications that you cannot use the screen touch under the menu
I will be greatful if the software will finalize the above suggestions
Thank you and Best Regards

This software update keeps popping up almost everyday in my iMac 27 although I keep updating. Looks like the either the update is not happening on my machine or some other problem. Anyone else know of this? Everytime I check for updates (I have the setting to manual check), an alert pops up in Apple store with the phrase "Lexmark Printer Software Update 2.11" available for download.
Is there a way I can turn off this notification for Printer updates until it is resolved? It is pretty annoying.
ThanksNot sure this will help yet, having just noticed it myself, but you can now get the Lexmark driver 3.0 for download here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1397
I'm going to give that a try to see if I stop getting the constant reminder for 2.11. -
Hello,
Perfectly fine working iPad and I attempted to load the software update provided for settings. Now all I get is an on again off again apple. Attempted hard reset to no avail. iTunes no longer recognizes the device. So......? what? how? where?
Thanks, RichardAnd one more point, I am not an Apple user. This is my first experience and have had to learn as I go. So any explanations please break it down for a noob. I am fairly computer geeky but when it comes to Mac or Apple or iAnything... I have zero experience.

HT1414 Can this software update also work on iPod 2.2.1?
Can this software update also work on iPod 2.2.1?
I do not understand you question. If you are stuck on iOS 2.2 you likely have the original iPod (1G). That iPod can be updated as high as 3.1.3 by:

Software update ask for a restart before installing the updates. After the restart password is asked. When given the computer is restarted but the software updates have not been installed. How come?
This article
http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57400956-263/apple-issues-software-installe r-update/
explains what might be going on.
I noted that one of the updates in the list for my wife's iMac was an update to Software Update itself. Probably to fix this very problem. But it wasn't being applied due to Software Update itself not working.
I considered two solutions.
(1) Uncheck all the updates except that one update to Software Update. Then after fixing Software Update, apply all the other updates remaining. I did NOT try this approach.
(2) Download and install the "combo update" for 10.6 -- from here
http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1399
I decided to try solution #2. It's a large download, 1 GB, but the whole process took less than 15 minutes. The "combo" update checks and reapplies every update since the beginning of 10.6, so if something is missing or amiss, it gets filled in. It's done manually, by downloading the update, opening the .dmg file, and running the update. When I did this, it fixed the Software Update issue because I then reran Software Update and additional, new updates were found and they all installed fine. Software Update was working as it should. I then ran it a third time and some additional ones were found, also then successfully applied. Finally, no new updates were found by Software Update, which mean everything is up to date.
I can't be sure if your issue is the same as mine (the bug in the CNET article above) but I'm guessing that the combo update will resolve your issue. -
Software Update Page for the Galaxy S4
Has anyone noticed that on Verizon's Software Update Page for the Galaxy S4 it is displaying update I545VRUDMI1? We are currently at update I545VRUEMK2 which is two updates after the one that they have on the Software Update Page.
Probably not for a while since they are talking up the S5 having 4.4 and the S3 and S4 not. Trying to screw us over some more.

Local Apple Software Update Server for Windows
Has anyone figured out, how to use Leopard's Software Update Server, as a local Apple Software Update Server for Windows?
As you may know, 10.5 Software Update Server downloads, not only mac updates, but the windows' version of them as well (e.g. Safari, iTunes for windows).
There has to be a way to use that new feature.{quote:title=Apple wrote:}
Software Update Server is capable of automatically mirroring updates between
Apple’s software update server and your local server to guarantee that the most
current updates are immediately available. Mac OS X Server also supports hosting
Apple updates for software running in Boot Camp, such as iTunes and QuickTime for
Windows. To ensure security, all updates are digitally signed by Apple.

No idea, how to get it running smoothly yet, however.
