What's wrong with your translatation? Do you need an
interpreter or what? Does your cyrillic font appear as some
abracadabra?

Page translator stuck in Russian Cyrillic

I intiated a page translator in Safari to translate into Russian Cyrillic and now can't get it to revert back to English only. How can I change it back to English only?

Hi Tom,
I think he downloaded the translate extencion for Safari from the extension page from Apple.
I did to and it works great, the translation are NOT that perfectly as Google translated, but it's OKAY to get the point where it's all about.

Convert xml to fm: very slow with russian/greek text, fast with westeuropean text

Has somebody experienced a significant difference between opening a russian xml file compared to opening a file with westeuropean text?
We have german xml files, opening them in FM9 (as well in FM10) takes about 2 min. The same with finish, french, etc.
Opening the "same" file, translated into russian or greek takes about 50 min! Structure, attributes, file size are identical to the german file.

thanks for your tips.
2 min is ok for us, the resulting fm document is about 400 pages long.
To have a very clean test environment, I created (in FM9) a new EDD from the DTD, and did not add any formatting rules at all. So the EDD only contains elements and attributes.
I imported the EDD into a new blank FrameMaker document.
What font is the template using? Does it have the glyphs required for Cyrillic and Greek texts?
Times New Roman. This works correct with cyr and gr documents with a size of 300 kB.
Is the EDD using references to catalog formats or does it work with Format Change Lists to create the formatting?
Currently, in my test edd, I have no formatting infos at all, only elements and attributes.
Is there some language attribute that may trigger some special formatting?
No.
Does the EDD come from pre-Unicode days and still tries to work with special Cyrillic or Greek fonts?
To avoid this, I created a new EDD from the DTD, and let it very blank, with no formatting information at all.

Translation bug in phone's settings when change ph...

I'm using WIndows Phone 8.1 and I found a small thing with translation from Russian to English and vice verse.
Pre-conditions:
1. Phone uses Russian language (Settings -> language ->русский).
2. All settings' names and their summaries are translated into Russian.
Steps:
1. Change phone's language in settings (Settings -> language ->English (United States)).
2. Restart phone.
Actual results:
1. Summary for touch menu item (Settings -> touch) isn't translated into English (United States)).
2. Summary for network+ menu item (Settings -> network+) isn't translated into English (United States)).
Additional info:
1. To translate summaries for "touch" and "network+" menus just pick this menu items and they'll be translated into English (United States)).
2. If summaries for "touch" and "network+" weren't translated into phone's language (using step 1 from additional info), then the summaries after phone's restart will be changed correctly (into phone's language, English (United States) in our case).
3. This case works for translation English(United States) -> Russian and for Russian -> English(United States).
Environment:
Microsoft Lumia 535 DUAL SIM
OS Version: 8.10.14234.375
Software: Windows Phone 8.1 Update

LANGUAGE TRANSLATION SOFTWARE

Does anyone know where I can get good quality software for translation from Russian to English and from English to Russian. Kava and Mac Dock software is very poor. I have looked and looked and called and called and cannot find any such software. Please help me if you can.

Hi, I am referring to the application from Tiger called Sherlock. After I installed Leopard, I separated Sherlock from Tiger, on a USB, and installed it on Leopard with no other functions, it's the only one I wanted for Latin. I don't understand why it was not included with Leopard, yet as a teacher I find it a time saving devise and it assist my students.

Translation Manager Business Object XIr3, problem

I have a problem with the Translation Manager Business Object XIr3.
If I understood well, it permits multilanguage users to see for example reports with their own language, setting up the preferencies, logging in InfoView.
Now I have installed it and I choosed two languages: English(UK) and Russian.
The problem is explained better in the following table:

Bouncing network drive at startup on Russian computer

Hello!
I have a friend who recently converted to Apple and is having some problems. As a long time Mac user I promised him I would help rectify this problem as quick as possible. Upon startup, he has 3 drives, his mac drive, his windows drive, and some random bouncing drive with a picture of the world above it. He is using one of the new imacs and thus far I have not been able to help him get rid of this pesky drive. It will bounce for around 2 minutes and then stop. At that time he is able to login. So what do I need to do to stop this thing from showing up and bouncing for 2 minutes so he can immediately login to either his mac drive or his windows drive. Also on a side note, he gets constant pop-ups from keychain about something. How do I turn all these keychain pop-ups off? I wish I could be more specific, but I work in the circus in China and my friend is Russian and has his whole Mac in Russian. Our communication is limited since I only understand a little Russian and can only be of minimal help. He speaks fine English but translating the Russian error messages to English gets lost in translation. I know this is a lot but any help would be appreciated! Thank you in advance.

It's probably attempting to boot from a network drive which has been selected as the default.
This is easy to fix:
In the System Preferences, open Startup Disk and select Mac OS X as the default and that should resolve your issue.

Oracle9i in Russian

I have developed a number of PL/SQL scripts which will be installed on a customers database server. As I understand it the operating system and the Oracle 9i database are both Russian versions. Stupid question, but do my scripts have to translated to Russian before they will work the customer's database?

Thanbk youThey shouldn't do. The SQL and PL/SQL language is the same, it's only data that would matter.

Funny translator wtf

this is not really javarelated, so you have been warned:
I was staying overnight at sheremetevo 2 hotel in moscow (200$ per night), and i happened upon their menu.
I soon realized that they must have used google translator or the like to translate from russian to english. Its super funny to me, because i read russian, but its still pretty funny to most everyone else:

Qosmio X300-13P issues of Win 7 64bit upgrade

I've upgraded X300-13P up to Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
Since the model somehow not in the Qosmio X300 models list (why???), I found all needed drivers (win7 64 bit, russian) using laptop s/n and drivers filter.
Now laptop works.
Issues (please, help to resolve some of it):

How to resolve?
I upgrade memory from 2x2Gb on 2x4Gb (bought in a Toshiba shop with a consultant - DDR3-1066M), but performance decreased - on Vista it was "5,4 Windows", now - "4,5 Windows".
The "bottleneck" - operations with numbers (sorry - I translate from russian: probably not accurately).
What should I do to increase?

Inserting filename and page numbers into multiple PDF files?

I have approx 100 PDFs with one or two pages in each, they are English translations
of Russian language test certificates and the formatting/feel of the originals is lost in
the translations. The only real link between the two sources is the "_RUS" and "_ENG"
filename suffixes and the common leading filenames otherwise. Thus I need to maintain
a record of the filename in any page I print off, should there be a need to refer back to
the original if the translation is open to artistic licence.
I have a script (below) that happily adds a page x/y and filename into the active file,
what I would like is to be able to do this insertion into multiple files as defined by a
portfolio or a selection via a select files dialogue box
I am quite out of my depth now as my past skirmishes with JavaScript have set
cookies and tweaked a few other browser doodads in webauthoring
Any help most appreciated on this one...

Putting this in a batch file within the automation function of Acrobat
delivers the goods, I need to investigate the formatting of the output to
get them to line up, have taken the middle ground and gone for a central
position for the page x/y text...... some lines are redundant
