Translated # same as extension

Ok, I'm sure this is probably something simple, but I'm a total ucm n00b, and searches aren't helping. Tried reading the docs, but they are pretty over my head as well.
Problem is, I have a translation pattern for 555-9336 that translates from 9336 to internal extension 1710. Not a big deal, except for when someone goes to call one of our vendors at 336-5555. What happens is they put in 9 for an outside number followed by 336-5555, and of course it doesn't make it to the 5555 and just gets translated to the 1710 extension. I've tried messing wiht some of the CSS and Partition settings, but nothing seems to help.
In the simplest terms imaginable :-) ...what am I missing?

Correct on the first one. The translation only uses the last 4 numbers of the incoming DID, so the outside number is 653-9336, but in "pattern definition" under "translation pattern" all I put is 9336, followed by 1710 in "Called Party transform Mask. So the overlap is when someone dials 9-336XXXX, it matches the 9336 before they can make it to XXXX.
I'm having a little trouble understanding what I'm supposed to do. I have a CSS called CSS-Gateways that is assigned to the gateway. It inlcudes partitions for the mainline, voicemail, and internal (which 1710 is on). Will this not work with internal being in that CSS? I'm kind of scared to remove it, incase it might cause all kinds of other problems. I tried messing around with making new partitions and CSS, but when I succeeded in making it so you could dial a 9336XXXX number, it then killled the translation to the internal extension phone # and gave an incorrect number message.
I really hate these dang partitions and CSS. Why must they make the UCM so difficult!

Let's say I have two files withe the same file extension. One of the files opens only with one particular program whereas another file opens only with another program.
So I was wondering, by using LabVIEW , if there is a way to tell (programatically) to which program are each of these files assigned to.
I am not quite sure if there is something that can be done by using WINAPI or .NET?

The only way you are going to be able to do that is if there is something within the file itself that gives an indication what program might have saved it.
For example, in the header for an .xls file, there is probably something that describes it as Microsoft Excel, perhaps even the version of Excel, that was put there when Excel saved it. But if you have another program save the file, let's say notepad was used and the user picked .xls as the file extension, then there is nothing that will describe that Notepad saved it.
But all of this is basically what ToeCutter was already telling you.
If you need more help, then you will have to provide more information such as what types of files and what programs were used that got their file extensions mixed up.

The translation as it is goes fine, however, sorting does not.
I have a property, that is created in Language1, which has some allowed values. That property is used in one of the xml forms. Its allowed values are displayed in this form sorted accordingly when portal is viewed in Language1.
I added metadata extension, where allowed values from property are translated into Language2.
When portal user swithes to Language2, translation kicks in, but the values are not sorted accordingly in Language2. They remain sorted as they were in their original language - Language1.
Problem: how to make portal (xml form) use the properly sorted property in any chosen language?

Make a file extension to open always with the same app

Hello, do you know how can I make a file extension to open always with the same app. So far I have been doing it by double click > open with > other > and then mark open always with this app, BUT
I do not want to do this very time with all the same file extension I have in my hard disk, is there any way, like in windows, to select and preset a determined app to always open all files with the same extensión in my hard disk??
Actually what I´m experiencing and would like to change is to open always .pdf extensión with Acrobat and not with Preview

Itunes duplicating songs that are the same. Multiple computers.

On my ipod i have it set to manually update. I connect it to two computers, one is a G5, another is a custom PC.
Now here's the problem, i'll drag and drop all of the music from the PC onto the ipod, it updates it, and we're all good. Well when i get back to my mac (where the other 6k songs are) ill drag and drop the library and it'll start importing, only problem is that it is importing the *exact same files*. Certain artists (annihilator, necrophagist, etc.) are on both computers, but they are the *exact same files*. I imported them on the PC, sent them over my LAN to my mac, and imported them. Meaning they have the same file extensions, names, and are the *exact same files*.
Now itunes will duplicate these in it's own sense. It'll import them and basically duplicate about 3k songs. This is obviously something i dont want. Now i know that i can show duplicate songs in itunes, but i'm not about to go through 6k songs and delete 1/2 of them.
So here is my question, are there any apple scripts out there that will tell itunes to import aritsts/albums/genres that are not already on the ipod?
Before anyone answers with "well just drag and drop the artists/albums/genres that aren't on the ipod" well that's great, only i have 335 different artists, and 896 albums. If you have that kind of time, great, but i dont.

Has anyone been phished by the Fake Add On (extension) Sure Shot Pro?

Tonight Firefox opened to the Update page for my extension, Sure Shot (screen saver) which is now available in Sure Shot Pro, a upgraded version of the same FIrefox extension with applicability on other browsers. I was offered a 30 day trail and a free security scan for Microsoft products before I downloaded anything.
(Boy, in these days it's great to find a company like SureShot that reminds me to do a scan before downloading ANYTHING--especially after an update to my broswer! Thanks Sure Shot.)
And I swear that's how it happened...about an hour ago. Sure Shot Pro even provided me with 2 screen shots while I was reading!
The only problem is...well actually there are a few. The first is, I don't have an extension on Firefox that takes screen shots,. I do on the other browsers I use because I need to have one. But there is not an adequate on in Firefox. Nonetheless, a quick glance up to the tool bar area showed the '''S''' (the icon for Sure Shot) glowing Hot Pink up on the left. I just took my time...did use IDM for the screen shot, which was of their screen shot and edited it right on line saying I did believe them to be cheats, liars and scum. I then opened the Problem Steps Recorder from Microsoft for Windows 7, a program that records in screen shots, while a User recreates the steps he or she takes to solve a problem or do something that is not working. I took photos of the Sure Shot Pro site...which is that same cheap looking font that must be a classic Estonian typeset. The edit page was a tacky ripoff of of any HTML editor you'd like to mention. The icons for the various browsers were the best indicator that these jerks probably do fool a few fools, all probably under 4 years of age who just bang on the keyboard. The artwork--or rather lack of it--depicting the Fire Fox was lame--they all were. But don't kid yourself, these guys did their homework. I opened my Add Ons page and found Sure Shot, sure as sh#t listed as one of my extensions...that Add On Page looked almost exactly like the real thing. I actually thought I was seeing my own extensions...but they screwed up on the coloring of he page itself.
On the off chance that you are not 4 and not banging on the keyboard but are actually an adult like me who has been taken in the past...THIS IS NOT REAL. Exit Firefox, go back in Safe Mode...or just go back as usual but open Firefox and go directly to TOOLS>Add Ons and check your Add Ons and Get Add Ons...this is where they spent a lot of time making everything look very very realistic. You could easily make the decision to try the software for 30 days after checking your Add Ons and "remembering" that you must have forgotten that you chose a screen saver add on at some point in the past...Because there it is on your list...the list provided by Firefox, not some website! Right? Please, if you find this extension, REMOVE it. Don't just Disable it...and don't do their scan before downloading anything ...their scan'' is '' a download and with it comes the malware it holds. Report sites that are phisihing you. It is hard to believe July 9th is so close with well over 1/4 million owners of computers have the DNS malware that could cause them to lose access to the internet next month AND THEY DON'T KNOW THEY KNOW IT!

Since installing Mavericks on my MacBook Pro, I have many (not all) documents that cannot be opened in either Pages '09 or Pages 5. They show on my doc lists, but are greyed out so I can't try to change extensions or anything else. Some are PDFs.

They do not show any extensions, but I'm sure at seast some of them are PDFs. As I cannot open them, I am unable to try to experiment with any solutions - I am not tech savvy, but can sometimes fix things by trial and error. I have no issues with sharing documents as I have no other devices. I just want to be able to open my saved documents! Also, the documents I can open have to be persistently coaxed to open to a point that it is extremely aggravating. I am not so happy with this recent "upgrade." Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You use Finder to find stuff. It is what you use to look at where your files are kept and to rename, move or trash them. If you double click on a file in Finder it finds the right software to open it for you.
To open particular files you use the right software for each type. Usually, but not always, the software that made the file.
Pages opens files ending in .pages. Also .txt, .rtf, and doc.
Pages 5 is the latest (but certainly not the greatest) version of Pages. It has trouble opening all sorts of files including the older Pages '09 files but it will still do it.
Unfortunately Apple has chosen for Pages 5 to also save its files as exactly the same file extension .pages despite it being a different format that can not be opened by the older Pages '09.
As we all know Apple is wise and great beyond belief and would not do something that on the face of it looks extraordinarily stupid and shortsighted. Therefore we know that it must be our fault and we are not holding the software right. Because we are bad users, we must be punished, by either having to use Pages 5 or jump through hoops to avoid using Pages 5.
If you have installed Pages 5 any .pages file (old or new) will be opened by Pages 5. If you then save the file, Pages 5 will change the file format. So don't open your files with Pages 5 and don't save them if you do.
To stop Pages 5 opening and resaving your old files, you need to drag it to the trash and empty it.
When it is no longer around to annoy you, you can go back to using Pages 09.

Hello Prakhtar,
You can use excel template (Extension Attribute Definition) to facilitate the creation and management of all the extension collections.
It would have been easier if you created your first extension using excel (you would have already had the excel file).
Once you have all the extensions created you could easily make them position one in each tab (or even do this at creation time in excel file).

When I go to Tools Add-ons, nothings shows under Add-ons, Extensions, etc.

The only clickable item there is "check for updates." My add-ons are all working, but none show up. Same for Extensions, Appearance, Plugins, Services.
I don't know how long it's been this way, because I've had no need to check until last Friday, when I picked up some malware that slides open a tab from the right-hand side of my screen with "Hot Deals" on it.
Firefox's "Automatically add" option tells me that listed below are my add-ons (though I can't see them in my own Add-ons tab). There are several there I don't recognize at all, but I have no idea how I can remove them without that page properly loading.

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
Close and restart Firefox after each change via "Firefox > Exit" (Windows: Firefox/File > Exit; Mac: Firefox > Quit Firefox; Linux: Firefox/File > Quit)
*If you have many extensions then first enable half of the extensions to test which half has the problem.
*Continue to divide the bad half that still has the issue until you find which one is causing it.

Why do global variables have a .vi extension?

While cleaning up some code the other day, it occured to me that although Virtual Instruments and Global Variables are distinct entities with separate roles in the LabVIEW environment, they share the same file extension .vi. It seems much more logical to assign a unique extension like we already do for controls, menus, classes, etc.
Can anyone explain why it's done this way?

No terminals on a global's BD. Just a blank slate. You CAN put stuff there but if there is any reference to a FP object LabVIEW will blow up on you so there is no real easy way to pass data in or out. (I once thought of embeding a counter into a global- It was not pretty)
Regardless, no matter what you COULD do, there must be another legitamate way to do the same thing. Its basically "Trickery or witchery." Do that kind of thing at your own risk! (Don't try this at home- We are professionals) Since you shouldn't be there, there are fewer protections. BAD things CAN and likely WILL happen. Think of it like triing to drive a car on two wheels. Its possible but, perhaps you want to try it with a really cheap car and know someone good with body repair.

The link between Basic IDOC type and IDOC extension is done in the partner profile first (WE20). After you have created an extension for your IDOC, you need to provide the same under Extension IDOC type in the outbound parameters of partner profile.
I am not sure about your requirement but from the user exit you are using, I guess you have more than one extension for customer master IDOC and you want to choose one based on certain parameters. The import and tables parameters of this exit should provide you enough information to do the same.
Let us know with specific questions if you need more info.

"System Extension cannot be used" problem...

Okay, so I have a brand new MacBook Pro, running the latest OS. Now, for some reason, I keep getting this error notice: "System Extension cannot be used."
I've been through DISK UTILITY, verified and repaired all "disk permissions," as well even "verified disk" (although nothing wrong or damaged have been found). I have even gone as far as ERASING my entire disk and RE-installing everything. However, no luck.
The thing is, verifying and repairing the disk permissions DO help, but there are still a number of extensions that do NOT get repaired. I don't know if this is significant, but I've had this problem 4 times in a row now, and after repairing the disk permission, the SAME EXACT extensions keep popping up as errors:

FYI: my ipod touch doesn't synch with itunes after the above errors are displayed, and I have to re-download itunes.
What do I do? Why is this happening? Is there a way to fix these extensions? Is this happening possibly due to 3rd-party plug-ins being used (am using Spectrasonics Trillian and Omnisphere with Logic Pro 9 - although this is running perfectly on my iMac AND on another MacBook Pro)?
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I've got no more hair to pull out due to frustration! Thank you in advance!

But worse : all my new machines have been infected by the same error, because I did copy the oleder machine when installing them. Apple does not seem to care about this problem.
The solution should probably be that apple should make a fix, looking for old and uncompatible extensions and delete them or get the new ones from all the makers.
