Translation of Rooms
We want to translate the objects of an existing room. Is it possible? I also find no way to translate an existing template. Any ideas?

Audigy 2 ZS and Raven Sheild a true testermen
Man oh man. If I ever thought that EAX HD did not work with my card properly, then I was wrong, DEAD WRONG!
. Hot **bleep** every single room will give me a completely differnent reverb and or occlusion effect. I have never heard anything like this before in my life.
Words can not trully explain it, so unless you havent played this game then you have no idea just how good the ZS can be when thing are done right.
Bullets bounce off walls and give a different effect depending where they hit and bounce off. Voices are muffled and DO sound differently depending if they are behind brick or timber and if you close your eyes you CAN tell if its brick,timber or steel.
Just like the EAX HD demo, this game sounds just like that, everything has different sound FX and blends and mixes perfeclty , the translation form room to room is SO freaking good its scary as you hear the background melt away as you get closer to a new sound source.
I just thought I would mention this as it seems that Creative may not be at fault for the most part and it would seem that game developers HAVE to get it right in a BIG WAY. This one game is testerment to what CAN be done with the ZS cards and SHOULD be held up as a bench and FULL compair when it comes to EAX HD 24 bit gaming.
I know its an old game and I never really got into the Rainbow six games but man oh man oh babe this is PURE EAR SEX to the max. Oh, the 5. is perfect and reflects sound spot on.
Do your self a favor, get this game, if only for a true EAX HD sound thrill ride.Man oh man. If I ever thought that EAX HD did not work with my card properly, then I was wrong, DEAD WRONG!

I must translate some texts from the Room Creation Wizard.
I can find the bundle with them in the PAR file "com.sap.netweaver.coll.appl.ui.room.par", but when I add the iview "pcd:portal_content/com.sap.pct/Collaboration/iViews/com.sap.netweaver.coll.RoomCreationWizard" to a Translation Worklist they do not appear to be translated.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.Hi Denis,
The Translation-Worklist is only for the Values of the i-View, like the Description and the Name in the Navigation. The Bundle-Files are not effected by the Portal-Content-Tranlation tool.
If you have the Bundle-File you have to use the Netweaver-Developer-Studio to change the Bundle. Normatly in the Bundles there are one File (e.g. tranlation_de.properties for the German tranlation) for each language. After creating more files for other Languages you have to debploy the par-file with the new Tranlations.

Links in portal toolbar no longer working after navigating within a room
Hi!
We have a rather strange problem. Say a user navigates to the collaboration room list ("collaboration" -> "rooms") and enters a room. When he/she then changes the part of the room (e.g. from "Room Discussions" to "Room Documents"), the second row of the top navigation bar gets inoperable.
Our portal menu looks like this ("=some entry=" means "selected"):
Intranet
Help
Content-Administration
=Collaboration=
=Rooms=
My Tasks
My Meetings
After entering a room and changing to any other room page than the one initially shown, the menu jumps to this state:
=Intranet=
Help
Content-Administration
Collaboration
=Rooms=
My Tasks
My Meetings
So suddenly the first entry in the top bar is highlighted, not "collaboration" anymore. (I can tell it's always the first entry who gets selected, since not every user's view has "Intranet" as the first entry - and still the first entry gets selected.) From now on, "Rooms", "My Tasks" and "My Meetings" are inoperable. They are still clickable links, but clicking on them causes a javascript error and nothing happens. ("'gNavTree.children[...].children' is null or no object")
Clicking on "Collaboration" in the top level navigation bar fixes the problem. The page reloads and everything is as it should be. This is reproducible in IE and Firefox. A complete reboot of the portal did not help. This only occurs when browsing within a room. Browsing within other parts of the portal does not have this effect.
Unfortunately I don't recall which change we made to the portal that caused this. (It definitely worked at some point before.) I do recall, however, that we translated "collaboration" (and only "collaboration") to another term better suited to our needs using the portal content translation feature. However, to rule this out as a cause of the problem I reverted to the original naming and the problem remained. Just thought I'd mention it for what it's worth.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks a lot in advance for your input! It's no showstopper, but it's confusing the users and kind of a weird problem I can't explain.
Regards,
JensHi Prabhakar,
we have an open call on this issue. SAP replied on the 10th of March:
"As this DTN issue isn't reproducable on our SP15 system, please upgrade your KM version to PL1, as per NOTE 911395(same as our test system). If for some reason the issue still exists after this upgrade I will further this issue with our Dev colleagues."
I read the note mentioned (which contains a list of the changes in PL1) and it says nothing about this issue in particular, if I'm not mistaken. Our system is on SP15 (not SP15 PL1), so we'll have to upgrade to PL1 first before we can investigate this any further. I currently don't know when this update is scheduled by our systems engineering department.
Is your system on PL1 by any chance? If so, then the problem has not been fixed in PL1 - which would be interesting for us to know.
Thanks,
Jens -
I have a CME system in Italy with a PRI connected. The problem I have is that when dialling out from any of the extensions the last 2 digits of the DDI number are missing. So for example if I dial from +39 02 251655899 the receiving phone only sees +39 02 2516558 on their display. I think this can be rectified by digit translation but I really don't know enough on the subject to work out how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

How to translate into English Apple China support page joke for non-Chinese
In China there are many thousands of English speaking non-Mandarin/Cantonese inhabitants amongst the billion+ natives - it would be very prudent of Apple to support cultural foreigners with an English alternative radio button or two on Chinese web pages. Please support us when trying to find Apple support service on a Mandarin text only support pages. Ethnic myopia to believe there are only Chinese speakers/readers inside the borders of this vast land.
The Apple Extended Warranty "outside of Bejing" telephone number is TOTALLY an automated voice ONLY speaking in Mandarin, even at 8pm. Nothing of English support. What can any non-natives do? Nothing offered that we can hear of what hours of support operation. (Australia at least did go till 11pm even if it was diverted in to Engaliss "speakar" Indians guys. Still India was exc. with service, now in China it's 9-5 hours only? The pronunciation on weak low power Chinese lines that for one call ever means for keeping a hearing aid by the phone.
My experience with Mac sellers here (nothing like a western dealership here thankyou) in Shanghai show only interest in selling more and giving less than lip sync for support service locations/addresses/tel contacts. That is if one can bridge the language barrier most of the huge electronic gadgets sales centers personel to be spasmodically understood - a very frustrating land to bring an Apple computer into.
Doesn't anyone on the Apple CEO board ever visit China and "go native" to experience real world problems?
Apple heros and Applettes in Apple Genesis land : support English-only readers on your foreign language pages - at least show a translation service radio button or someting other than Mandarinic hieroglyphs, even Pin Yin would be a start. Apple speak of a 'global' policy, please support the tens of thousands of English only speakers in the business community, the teachers and travellers in these foreign countries. iPod sales go through the roof here, but finding English based extended warranty support is like something invisible on another planet.
So after a real world complaint - will Apple do anything contructive, can anyone supply solutions? Cannot downoad/update anything; Safari, Explorer both 'blink' only at every atempt, also I wish to locate all iTunes files into one place. Instructing iTunes 'Advanced' section will not transfer the 2 gigs on the G5 across to my dedicated iTunes only 230GB HD. Maybe someone can supply an answer, thanks.
G5 iMac; 2 GHz PowerPC; 1 GB DDR SDRAM; 160HD combo Mac OS X (10.4.7) And a G3 ibook with the dual OS9/OSX partitioned startup operating systemsFor extended warranty support, try going to:
Apple Computer Trading (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. Room 1201, Lippo Plaza, 222, Huai Hai Zhong Lu, Shanghai 200021, P.R.C.
Try to learn some Chinese, too. I'm sure that's along the lines of what you might suggest to a Chinese immigrant to Australia who doesn't speak English, can't read the Apple Australia web site and complains that because there are 1.2 billion Chinese in the world and only 12 million Australians, the Australian site should have a Chinese translation radio button.

Can I make professional sounding recording with Logic in an untreated room?
I have a small bedroom-recording studio. Since starting with Logic over a year ago I have been amazed at how much you can really do with this program. I would really like to start producing my songs at level that competes with the sound quality of what most people purchase on Itunes and professional albums. However, I don't have the space or money to record and mix in an acoustically treated room. It's my little 10x12 bedroom in California after all, and I also have to keep everything else I own in the same space.
Some people argue that an acoustically treated room is the most important thing in getting a truly great sounding record, BUT my question/argument is that IT IS possible to get a pro recording without elaborate foam set-ups and bass traps, etc. Here are my thoughts and please feel free to agree or disagree and prove me wrong—also note, I am NOT talking about mastering, just getting quality recordings and mixes before the mastering stage (that I would pay a pro to take care of anyway).
I have good monitors for my setup (Event ASP6s and have had a few professional recording artists I know comment on how good they sound). I listen to music all the time on these speakers and know them very well. When I record my own music I frequently A/B my recordings (as I am recording AND mixing) with music from CDs to match the sound quality. I focus on both total recordings and specific instruments when doing this A/B strategy. I also mix at low volume levels.
My thinking is this: If I'm able match (or at least come close to matching) the sound of my instruments and mixes to a commercial recording using my speakers and Logic, then the room should not matter. The speakers are reflecting the sound of a pro recording, regardless of how the room is treated, and I am in turn emulating this sound with my own music. Thus, my music should translate well on other systems, as the pro recordings obviously would do so.
I realize that quality mics, preamps, mixing skills etc. are important for creating a professional, accurate sounding project as well, but the fact that I am unable to record in a properly treated room has always bothered me and I’m not going to be able to change this situation any time soon.
I’m curious about everyone’s opinion on this. This is a great forum and there are a lot of knowledgeable people here. This is the age of the “Home Studio” and most people with home studios don’t have quality rooms, so this is an important subject. Thanks for any feedback.Jack, I'm in a similar boat here in Seattle. I just finished recording and mixing a few songs for demo'ing purposes and was pretty happy with what I achieved, but let's just say there was a lot of learning involved with the process.
In my limited experience, when you're working in a small untreated boxy room, you're fighting a different big problem at each stage of the recording process. When you're recording, you have to deal with comb filtering and flutter echoes (if you're recording mic'd acoustic instruments), and when mixing room modes and bass-response issues. There are various ways of addressing flutter echo, which boil down to creatively using dispersion and absorption techniques and playing around with mic placement. If you close-mic everything, you can get rid of some but not all flutter problems, but then you have to wrestle with having an exaggerated low end on all of your tracks, and you lose a lot of the open, airy quality of the instruments you're recording.
My "studio" has a couple of large bookcases along one wall, so I typically recorded the guitar in M-S stereo facing the bookcases (to get some dispersion) and set up a couple of homebrewed O-C 703 panels a few feet to each side to kill off the echoes. I also set a panel up on the wall behind me to further dampen things. It seemed to work pretty well. Mixing was a whole 'nother matter. No matter how much I A/B'd I did a bunch of mixes that wound up sounding truly awful when trialled on other systems. I went through a lot of CD-R's before finally winding up with something that wasn't actively cringeworthy (at least in terms of audio quality).
Since your setup is based on an MBP and a portable FW interface, one thing you might try is recording acoustic instruments in a larger room elsewhere in your apartment, or maybe at a friend's. Or maybe rent / borrow a church for a day.
Hope this helps,

Poker and Black Jack with card counting strategies seems to be all
about math/probability theory/decision theory. I heard a professional
poker player reason and that's where I got the idea. If you could just
get the data into the computer the rest would just be decision theory
and computer programming. I think the big advantage would be a much
greater accuracy in the probabilistic calculations. You would need to
sample the screen directly in the computer or via some high resolution
web-camera. Then translate the characters and symbols through pattern
recognition and ocr into computer digestable data. You would also need
to control the mouse by either an embedded system, which comunicates
with the PC, or by connecting one USB-port (or older mouse-port) to
another USB-port and let some software act as a mouse. The same thing
goes for the keyboard.
So the computer samples the screen to see what's going on, makes a
decision and then either moves the mouse to the right region and
clicks or types something and ends with a return-character. When Deep
Blue has finally made it's way into the poker and black jack
rooms. Human players can bite the dust.I suspect the algorithm for bluffing is going to be rather difficult.
And note of course that this won't work live. Casinos specifically disallow computers. -

Mapping: Fitting managers into rooms ?
Hello All, The below map is disinclined to acquiesce to my request; translation: itz knot verkin.
I'm trying to fit the 'managers' in the source into 'room's in the target. Assuming a max of 4 rooms, I want them filled up with 4 managers per room (with some rooms remaining empty and not showing up in the target).
I'm learning how to map currently. Thanks for your help.
SOURCE:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:s2 xmlns:ns0="urn://maptest">
<managers>
<personalID>PID001</personalID>
<personalID>PID002</personalID>
<personalID>PID003</personalID>
<personalID>PID004</personalID>
<personalID>PID005</personalID>
<personalID>PID006</personalID>
<personalID>PID007</personalID>
</managers>
</ns0:s2>
MAPPING:
After the map runs, the target produced SHOULD look as follows:
TARGET:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<ns0:t2 xmlns:ns0="urn://maptest">
<room>
<personalID>PID001</personalID>
<personalID>PID002</personalID>

<room>
<personalID>PID005</personalID>

<personalID>PID007</personalID>
</room>
</ns0:t2>
In the source, managers is 1..1, while personalID is 0..unbounded.
In the target, room is 0..4, while personalID is 1..4.
Thanks, BhishmaDude,
I'm in the final phase of the project where I don't get much to do, so I spend the whole day studying new stuff. =D

Geometry not translating into FCP
Hi, all. Just curious if anyone has figured out an FCP-->Color-->FCP round trip workaround scenario that includes Geometry room parameters. I'm striking out.
The media was shot on 16:9 720P/24, and I'm cutting it in (amazingly, in real time--nice work, Apple) with a ProRes HQ 4:3 NTSC sequence. After a round trip, everything else looks great: primary/seconday color settings, pulldown insertion, etc. However, I've done a number of repos and small camera moves in Color, and they disappear back in FCP. Experimenting with the first :30, I've got to say the autofeathering keyframes LOOK GREAT in Color, (very natural, quick and easy to set up, and smooth) but they do not come back in after rendering, no matter what I try.
It says in the manual and on the FCPS 2 site that Geometry room settings get translated into FCP motion parameters. That's not happening. Is this a known bug? FCP's motion control is so clunky, I'd be more likely to do it in After Effects, but that's a pain, since the controls are right here in front of me in Color.
Many thanks.I realize this is an old thread, but here's the solution:
Just delete the .xml file from your project's container. You'll have to right-click on the project, choose "Show Package Contents", then delete the .xml file that's in there. Actually, maybe move it some place safe, even though it is a clone of the file you actually did use.
Once it's gone, Color is fooled into thinking that you didn't import this form XML, and you're good to go.
You might also have to delete the line in the project's .PDL file that has the <IMPORTFROMFCP> tag, I'm not sure. It was the first thing I tried and it didn't have any effect, but since I never put it back I can't be sure you don't need to do both things.
And I respectfully disagree about doing it there way or the highway. Since FinalTouch 1.x I've been doing all sorts of XML hacks and workarounds to make it do some things MY WAY I still can't get it to 4K with this DALSA footage I'm on right now, though

Edit Top Banner in Collaboration Rooms
Hello,
when I create a new Collab. Room the top header shows only the Room Name and the Room Description?
How can I enrich the top header (eg. with Images, Icons, further descriptions and links)
Thank you in advance,
PhilippI would use the Portal Content Translation wizard to accomplish this task if the words are related to portal content (not hardcoded in par files).
You can translate iViews, Pages, Worksets, etc.
Here is a link to SAP Help on this topic.

Multilanguage Collaboration room ?
Hello all,
does anybody know, if there are multilanguage collaboration rooms ?
I think about following scenario.
User A logs in to the portal with language EN and sees in the room only items, documents etc., that exist in 'his' language EN. User B logs on with language e.g. japanese and does corresponding only see items in language japanese.
Does this work ? Or are there alternatives ?
Thank youHi,
the translation of KM-Documents is not supported in the standard. This means that is it not possible to show an announcement or a document within a room only in the user's language. As a general rule you can say that in the moment all data that you create in the PortalContentStudio can be translated, content created in KM can not. You can try to use taxonomies to sort document by language (by creating an additional property that has to be maintained when creating a document). These two documents are nor related to each other (which e.g. means that you will not be forced to update one if you have changed the other). Then you will need two pages within a room (and two roles) - one for each language (if there are only two languages). Maybe that there are more options by doing some custom coding, but I am not a developer so I am sorry but I can't tell you
Kind regards

Setting up Chat Room with Jabber
I am trying to create a chat room for multiple users all using a Jabber (gmail) account within ichat. Is there a special naming protocol to creating a chat room or do you need to create an address somewhere before joining this chat room?
I have no problem doing it with my .me account but for work everyone is on gmail so we ideally be able to use the Jabber accounts for group chats.
I did mange to "create" one called [email protected] (our domain) but when I tried to join I get the grey spinning wheel and don't get any further.
Clearly I'm missing something so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
SarahHi,
GoogleTalk is supposed to allow group chats.
These tend to be called "Conferences" on most Jabber servers.
Most Jabber servers have a section of additional itme your can "register" for and Login to.
However to do this takes a third party app like Psi.
This can then do "Service Discovery" on the server in question and show what features you can sign up for.
These can include "Transports" that allow you to add Buddies from different services and Conference calls.
Having said that if you do Service Discovery on GoogleTalk you find nothing
Many apps also presume the server name is the last part of your user ID and for Google with it's @gmail.com and @googlemail.com this does not work properly in some of these apps.
This page has Instructions for how to set up a Transport to MSN using Psi and you can see the Service Discovery panel.
Essentially a room has to be given a Name and this is coupled with the Jabber server name it is on so that it looks something like this:-
[email protected]
The room "ralph" is on the conference server at the jabber.org.uk server.
Substituting [email protected] does not seem to work as a room name.
It may pay to start from a Web Browser login and see if a room name becomes apparent that way.
Edit
The last two "links" I have tried to remove the Links but they keep get added back

Currency Translation on Key Date for AR Aging
Need your valuable advice!
I have created an AR Aging query including both Open and Cleared Items based on 0FIAR_C03_Q0005 standard query. However the requirement is to do currency translation to Group Currency (USD) on Key Date. This Key date is defaulted to today but the user can change this to go back in time and pull all the ARs as of that back dated key date.
I was planning to create a currency translation type on M rate based on the Key Date Variable in RSCUR. However I am confused on which variable to base this currency translation. I have several key date variables in my query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date).
Which Key Date Variable should I use in 'Time Reference from Variable' field in RSCUR? Would it be one of the 3 mentioned above or something else and why?
Appreciate your valuable advice.
Thanks,
AlHi,
Yes I do want to use the Key date from the variable screen and I am using the standard 0FIAR_C03_Q005 with slight modification including currency translation.
As I mentioned in my original post I have several key date variables in this query such as 0P_KEYD2 (based on Posting Date), 0P_KEYDT (based on Net Due Date) and 0P_KEYD3 (based on Clearing Date). My question is which one should I use if I want to base it on the specific key date variable from the variable screen? I need the specific Key Date variable technical name.
Thanks,
Al
