Transmission-gtk fails to open new torrents properly
Using transmission-gtk and transmission-cli on both 2.22-1 and 2.22-3 I receive a "Transmission is already running" error when trying to add a new torrent when the client is already running. The default application is set to use transmission-gtk and it happens with every new torrent that I add. Reverting back to 2.21-3 resolves this issue and new torrents open properly. Any ideas, possible bug?

Sound fails when opening new sound "sources" quickly after one another
I hava a problem when the sound on Arch running XFCE.
At first, there was no sound. I searched for a solution, and found one that seemingly did help. I created .asoundrc in ~ with this text:

This should set the default sound card (as my motherboard have both PCH and HDMI sound card).
Now there is sound, but it fails when i switch from different sound "sources" (like different YouTube-videoes). For the sound to work again, I have to refresh the page, and generally wait some 20 seconds.
My motherboard is MSI GAMING 3 Z97, and I don't have more sound card than what is on that card.
So I was hoping for some help. It's not a big problem, but a bit irritating. :)I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you've got a custom timecode field somewhere in your production and/or asset metadata group(s), right? And I'm going to further guess that this timecode field has dashes in it like this --:--:--:--, right? If so, try this: Click the arrow next to the timecode field and adjust the timecode so that it has a number (it doesn't matter what the number is as long it's not dashes - "00:00:00:00" is fine). Then Save this asset, close it and then reopen it and see if the beeping madness has vanished. Then, to make this change permanent for all of your new assets, make sure to edit the default value of any custom timecode fields to put zeros (or some other numeric default value) into them when a new asset is generated. If the asset still beeps when you open it, check the other metadata groups in your set to see if there isn't another empty timecode field lurking in the shadows.

Transmission-gtk: "Open Folder" opens Gwenview instead of... (Solved)
This might be a silly question.
I'm running KDEmod. I recently switched from vuze to transmission-gtk, and when I click on "Open Folder" in the context menu of a torrent, the folder opens in Gwenview instead of Dolphin. There's nothing in Preferences about pointing to a file manager, so I'm stumped.

However, your solution worked
Now I just have to figure out how to get Firefox to handle file links properly without bringing up the annoying window--or decide whether or not to make the effort.
EDIT: Scratch that . . . it just took some playing around in Preferences. Now, no more annoying dialogue box

the way i have always used this is to able to select news and right click all news items to read as new tabs and have all news items or messages to be grouped in the child window

the user jay_ff shows how to do it using the Menu Editor Add-on
1. Install the Menu Editor add-on from https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/ .
2. After the installation, go to Firefox> add-ons (or simply use Ctrl+Shift+A)
3. Go to the Menu Editor "Options"
4. In the "Main context menu," simply grab the "Open link in New Tab" and place it below the "Open Link in New Window"
5. and Voila! You may also change other menu options if you want to!
I tried jay_ff method first and found that indeed changing the Main Context Menu did cause the hotlink context menu to change as well. -
"Extraction Failed: Cannot Open Output File" error message when installing new drivers
Hello, I'm trying to install new drivers for my HP Photosmart C4385 Printer. I downloaded the full feature drivers for Windows XP 32-bit, and when I start to install (extract), I get the error message:
Extraction Failed
Cannot Open Output File
And the process closes. It happens at about 85% extraction every time.
Any idea why? I called HP but since it is out of warranty they wanted money, which I think as absolutely ridiculous - won't even give me basic support?? Poor, poor customer service.

Make sure the Printer is disconnected from your PC.
Download and install 7-ZIP. Once installed, right click on the software installer for your printer, select 7-Zip and choose extract files, then click Ok.
Open the newly extracted folder and double click the setup application to start the installation ( the setup application will probably have the same icon as the original software installer you downloaded ). Connect the printer to your PC when the software asks.

ok...i'm not sure how at all...but, a couple hours have passed since i posted this and while i was hoping someone would reply i was finishing up some old work on my old, extremely slow emac. anyways, i decided to go ahead and try to install leopard again from the normal standard method. (which is just clicking the icon once the leopard install window comes up). Guess what? now it's 50% into the installation!! i don't want to count my chickens before they hatch...especially after some of the discussions i've read about leopard so far...but, i'm hopeful
who knows how...i'm clueless and it doesn't make much sense to me. but, i'll come back and let anyone who cares know how the install went.
note for anyone with similar problems:
another strange fix to the 'leopard dvd ejecting on install' is to let the dvd chill in the drive for a couple hours...then try it again. HAHAHAHAHA!!!! worked for me -

My ITunes account has failed to open and reccomends a "re-install". The apple support site instructs "create a new account". Any knows what will become of my music collection and account $ balance?
Under normal circumstances, an uninstall/reinstall doesn't touch your content. (That being said, it's still always a good idea to maintain a current backup at all times in case of disasters of any sort.)
I've never lost an account balance after an uninstall/reinstall. -
Open in new tab not working properly. How can I get it to stop opening new windows?
Firefox recently updated and my + open new tab button was gone. I found and downloaded the extension to put it back on, which is now gone but never worked. I have checked options>tabs and it is supposed to be opening new tabs. I can click file open new tab and it still opens everything in a new window. I've loved firefox for several years but if this isn't fixable quickly I'm gone. Can anyone help?
You definitely should not need an extension to get a new tab button!
Do you have any tab related extensions now, such as Tab Mix Plus or Tab Utilities?
Try resetting your toolbar layout by renaming the file that stores customizations. Firefox should returns to the default settings for toolbars and windows. Here's how:
(1) Open your personal settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder
Help (or Alt+h) > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
(2) Switch back to Firefox and exit the program (e.g., File > Exit)
(3) Wait a few moments for Firefox to finish updating files in your settings folder, then rename '''localstore.rdf''' to something else, like localstore-bad.rdf or localstore.old. Alternately, you can delete the file.
(4) You're done with your profile folder and you can restart Firefox now.

With respect to links launching in new windows instead of tabs, the checkbox in the Options dialog should work but there is an exception for scripted windows that have certain parameters set (e.g., dialog style with no toolbars, or a specific size). Launching a link out of a dialog, which is not allowed to have extra tabs in the window, also will launch either a new window or be added to an existing window. Any chance the problem is related to those situations? -

I have three reports, living in the same directory. They are essentially identical, except for the grouping. All three run successfully within Crystal reports.
From a report viewer Winform in VS, two of the three run. As I am dealing with a small data set, the reports render quickly. On the third report, There is a long pause when the report viewer form opens, then I finally get an error:
"Failed to open the connection.

I was initially getting similar errors on all three reports, before changing the datasource location to my ODBC connection. I have double-checked the location, verified the database, etc.
What am I doing wrong? I can provide the VB code if requested, but since the other two reports work properly, I doubt it's code. I do know that I am passing the report name and path correctly to the report viewer form.
As I am about to kick my monitor through the window and become a street denizen, I would greatly appreciate any help that would be offered.

For 'Reason' if you get the message "Failed to Open MIDI Support Library"
I tried to open Reason 3.0.5 with an MBox 2 on my new MacBook Pro (Leopard) and I got this message: 'Failed to Open MIDI Support Library.' When I went to my 'Audio-MIDI' setup on my Mac, nothing loaded properly...
I found the solution to this problem after looking around online, and figured other people might be having the same problem, so here it is...
First, create a new folder on your computer desktop and call it "Old MIDI Drivers" (or something similar), then go to Macintosh HD>library>audio>midi drivers, and move all the drivers (that you don't plan on using) from that folder into your "Old MIDI Driver" folder on your desktop. For example, I moved all the drivers out except for my MBox 2 driver.
After you do this, you may have to restart your comp. (I didn't) and Reason should run.

Strange network freezes when wrong time is set (with transmission-gtk)
Hi!
After transmission-gtk running for a while, the network doesn't work any more, not even the connection to the router. Even after closing transmission-gtk, the problem persists until I disconnect from the network (using wicd / wpa atm) - or wicd freezes and refuses to start again. Trying to use ifconfig / iwconfig makes the terminal freeze (not recovering with ctrl+c), other tty/vty's still work. System won't shutdown / reboot after this happens, the tty that gave the command just freezes.
Not sure where to start here... can't use iwconfig/ifconfig... can't look up stuff online while I'm on the machine trying to work this out... any hints?

I use ipblock to block unwanted ip addresses, force encryption both ways, and use tcpkill (pretty sure it is in the "dsniff" package) to block foreign ports that seem suspicious to me. Also, I have noticed that if there is a lot of connections my network will almost halt and if I limit the connected number of connections per torrent after the swarm gets going then it will first drop peers instead of seeds so it does not really seem to effect speed either. I do not use transmission so I do not know all the particulars there ( using deluge) but there should be similar settings for encryption as well. If doing a lot of downloads I also reset my router (unplug it) for about 5 minutes when I am done and reboot just to be sure. If you think that your troubles may be caused by your isp or an anti-p2p group I would definitely give the above a shot.

Transmission = 0.91 not rm'ing torrents
I seem to have run up on a bug in the new Transmission versions, so could someone using Transmission (gtk) version 0.91 or up (0.92 is in AUR atm) help me confirm it?
Set in preferences under Downloads "For torrents downloaded normally" to "Keep a copy and remove the original".

VIS fails when apply new patch
Hi all
I have problem in accessing VIS after applying new patch to it.
I use 11.5.8 VIS and apply AD mini-pack H (2673262), FND mini-pack G (2655277) , OA Framework 5.7H patch (2771817) and OA Framework 5.7H Rollup Patch V4 and make proper post install step.
But i still met problems, first I can not access VIS ...after use auto config, i can get in...but I can ot open the form properly...it always tell me form connection fail...error message is like xxx:9002 fail...java.connection.exceptiom....
At the same time, I notice the web page change a lot after applying patches above...
Any idea about my problems?
