Transmit FTP - Mini won't play system sounds

In Transmit FTP 3.5.3 (latest version), you can choose to play a "system sound" upon successful transfers. You can choose any of the Apple system sounds from a drop down menu, from within the preferences of Trasmit.
The sound was working fine, but now I can't seem to get the sounds to work. If I open the preferences and choose a sound, any sound, but say Basso, it will select it, and then when I close preferences, and come back, the sound will be changed back to none.
The sound was working fine the other day, and I haven't changed anything. Is there a corrupt sound plist file or something somewhere? I reinstalled Transmit, deleted all plist files for it, and still not sound.
Can anyone else confirm trouble with the sound for transfers, or is it just me, and what can I do to my mini to get it back to work. I'm using the Core Duo mini.
Thanks,
Bryan

Hi KL archeo,
If you are only having issues with audio when playing videos (i.e. Music player appears to be fine), and only through the headphone jack (internal speaker appears to be fine), then you may want to try backing up all your data in iTunes, doing a full factory restore, then testing to see if the issue persists before restoring your data back. Michael,
Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
    Best regards,

  • My iPad mini won't play my music either and I have tried all the suggestions on the forum. I have no problem with my music on my full size iPad or my MacBook.

My iPad mini won't play my synced music. I have tried all the suggestions on the forum, but it still does not work. Also it crashes on the selected song selected. I have never had a problem with my other iPad or MacBook.

    What exactly have you tried?
"All the suggestions on the forum" doesn't really mean anything. It would be pointless for us to suggest something that you have already tried.

  • Ipod nano (2nd generation) won't play any sound

as the title says, my ipod nano (2nd generation) wont play any sound. the songs still play just fine, but no sound or very little sound is coming out. i've tried different headphones, none of them working. and then i attempted using my speakers which worked at the highest volume of both the ipod and the speakers, but very little sound came out and it sounded fuzzy.
after this, i reset my ipod, then restored it, and still no sound. so i reset the ipod again, making sure that everything under the setting was correct for the sound. i even tried putting the clicker on "headphones" and that didnt work either. it connects to the computer fine and has a fully charged battery.
    help please?
      Windows Vista

thank you for your suggestions, but everything seems to be working normally except the sound coming out of the ipod. i reset the volume limit and nothing. also, there was no volume limit in the summary tab.
again, thank you for your help... any other suggestions/ideas?

  • After playing System Sound, no other sounds anymore.

    Hi,
I'm using KDE4 and this is my problem:
Whenever i use an application with sound (chromium. smplayer, ...) and there's a system sound, the sound of the application disappears and i have to restart the application to get the sound back on. Can somebody help me? I followed all archlinux wiki's but no success. At the moment, i have installed alsa-utils, alsa-oss, and i use xine as a backend.
I don't know what informations are useful so please ask, if you need any.
    Greetings

Thanks for your reply. I tried both. No success. When i followed the pulse-wiki i even got an error during boot.
The whole thing is really annoying because i followed the install wiki and did nothing wrong. But it doesn't wanna work.
I think the problem is with phonon. Any ideas?

  • Mac mini won't stop alert sounds

About a month ago my Mini started making the alert tone (from the mini) whenever I turned off the monitor speakers to go to bed.  It didn't do it before, and even when I turn off alert sounds in system preference SOUND, it starts doing it again.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
Does it do it if you disconnect the KB & Mouse?
How often does it do it?

  • 5.0.1 iTunes won't play/no sound

The latest update of iTunes will not let me play any tracks. I hit play, the song shows in the window but nothing happens. Also, I went to System Preferences and it says "no output devices found." Lastly, the volume control in the menu bar disappears when I scroll over it. I check the box in System Preferences marked "show volume in menu bar" and then I scroll over it and it disappears. Everything was working great until this latest update. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank you for your suggestions. Because I put so many files onto my external drive I have 8 gig spare on PowerBook HD.
I looked at Audio Midi setup and it is set to 44.1 KHz. I went to Speaker Setup and both speakers tested fine.
Note that it is not just a speaker problem as iTunes just refuses to play - except for a Podcast which will play but no sound.
I have looked through all the files I moved to Trash and to the external drive and I can't see any applications or utilities. The only files that are not jpegs or .doc are
    IE Install Log File
    downloads.dat
FV Project - 1 folder which contains one .aiff file
tmpIUJEDownloads folder containing a whole load of folders called ButtonAdd and somesuch
    oledata.mso
I moved all these out of Trash and into my home folder.
I also used Disk Utility to repair permissions and rebooted.
    So where now ?

  • Ipod mini won't plays songs, keeps skipping

I've had my ipod mini for the last year but 4 to 5 months ago it stopped working and I'm just now finding the time to deal with this. My ipod is a mess and I'm not sure if it can even be fixed without some technician messing around with it but any help would be GREATLY appreciated. This is a long one...
    The problem was:
When I selected a song from a playlist (or any category) to play it, the song information would pop up on the screen and it would play the first milisecond of the song and then the next song on the list would pop up and the ipod would do the same thing. It would do this over and over for every song on the playlist until it reached the end of the list. It did this for every category. I restarted it and NOTHING worked. But at least it turned on then. Now it doesn't.
    The problem now:
I reset my ipod and took all of the songs off of iTunes, just in case. When I tried to turn the ipod back on, the folder with the exclamation point alert popped up and now the ipod won't turn on at all.
I put songs back into iTunes and tried to update my ipod and iTunes said that it was importing the songs but the ipod still won't turn on. I reset it once again just in case and I didn't put any more songs in it because that just seems to make it worse. So now the ipod has no songs in it and it still won't turn on.
It keeps giving me the same alert after a few minutes of the apple symbol and I've plugged it into my computer and it says that it's charging but it will do nothing else but charge.
      Windows XP

step 1: try to restore it. this will remove everything on the ipod. then it will make sure it is current and nothing will be left on the ipod. then, just reload your music

  • Ipod mini won't play purchased music after not plugged in

iPod mini, Windows XP system (sorry).
If iPod is plugged into the computer at least once every couple of days, everything's fine.
But if the iPod is left unplugged for more than 3 days, it skips over all the purchased music.
Copied music works fine. Just the purchased music.
Just updated to latest ipod software, no joy.
This has got to be an ipod software bug -- or perhaps a really dumb "misfeature". Has anyone else seen this?
      Windows XP

If you have made sure that both the iTunes and iPod software are current and have deauthorized and reauthorized your computer, try this:
    1. Deauthorize the computer.
    2. Create a new user in the system.
    3. Download the free song of the week from the iTMS in the new user account.
    4. Play the song in that user account to authorize again.
    5. Restore the iPod (using the iPod updater) in the new user account.
    6. Sync just the free song of the week and see if it plays on the iPod.
If it does, you appear to have a corrupted iTunes library file, and you should recreate the iTunes library file in your normal user account, and then sync your music back to the iPod and all should be well.

  • Headphones won't play game sound.

When seeing the video for how to set up my Turtle Beache's PX22. You were supposed set the "Communication Headphones" as default but it wouldn't let me. I tried in the troubleshooter to set it but it said that it was not fixed. I have noticed
a great loss in sound quality and I bought these headphones for gaming and now they won't work. Anyone help please? I heard that I should uninstall the IDT driver but I don't know if it is safe.

  • My iPhone 4S won't play certain sounds

I just got this as a hand me down from my boyfriend because he has the new 5, pretty great condition, played all the sounds, videos, musics, etc with no problems.
I was playing a game earlier today with no issues, sound was great, and listened to music yesterday. For some reason it's not working now. I hear calls fine, FaceTime works well, and so do the little tests sounds in the settings. But it doesn't play sound for videos, games, music, or even the little texting clicks. The sound bar that usually shows up when you decrease or increase volume with the buttons doesn't show up, and the sound bar is completely gone when I try to play music.
Not sure what happened seeing as I've only been on Facebook and Skype since playing my game earlier. And yes, I've made sure that it is off of silent/vibrate. Just not sure what to check or do, seeing as this is my first iPhone. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I have already tried resetting using the home/lock buttons.

  • Mac mini doesn't play stereo sound over HDMI

My Mac mini (2012) is connected to my home theatre via HDMI.  While playing a 5.1 channe movie will play through the speakers fine, a stereo source will only play through the Mac's speakers.  This is true with iTunes Store content - if I slect Audio 1 (Stereo) it plays through the Mac speakers, if I select Audio 2 (5.1) it plays through my home theatre).
    Any suggestions?

There are also some DVD sets with lots of supplement material on their discs, that you can only run with Interactual's DVD Player for the Mac.   Sadly, this software you need 10.6.8 or earlier to run:

See this tip on doing that if you have a Mac made on or after the release of 10.7:

    Or just run Windows:

    1. Open Activity Monitor.app (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor.app)
    2. Select ‘All Processes’ from the drop down menu next to the search bar (called ‘Filter:’) and type in ‘coreaudio’.
    3. Select the process name and click the ‘Quit Process’ button at the top. Chose 'Quit' or 'Force Quit' from the resulting dialogue box.
    Any improvement?
