Transparancy grid isn't showing on my image

For some reason i get a transparency problem that only occurs for small images. Please help anyone?

I also see the document is small enough that it is zoomed in at 3200% - The transparent grid may be just too large to display at that level. In that you are see a white square of the grid. I beleive in the properties there is an option for chaging the grid size, try lowering it to the smallest size and see if that helps.
Well I did a quick test in CS5 and the grid is displaying correctly. So the video driver may be the culprit after all.

How do I change the transparency grid to gray in Camera Raw 8.7.1?

I am using Scott Kelby's The Adobe Photoshop CS6 Book for Digital Photographers. He has a tutorial on Lens Correction in Camera Raw where he uses vertical tilt to correct perspective on an image taken with a 10 mm lens (Chapter 3, page 69 if that matters to anyone). The correction is extreme and after correcting, the areas where the transparency grid would show are gray in his image. On my copy of Camera Raw 8.7.1, I get the familiar checkered transparency grid (I am using the same image supplied from the books web site. He continues on with a Free Transform and Content-Aware correction to eliminate the "gray" area without explaining how the transparency section in his image got to be gray. Doing a selection on the transparency to complete the Content-Aware is not possible as described in his book. Is something I am missing with PS CC 2014? I have asked four other photographers using CS6 and CC. Two report they have the checkered grid and one has a gray area and yet another has a white area. How can I get the gray area as described in the book?

Great, I was going to suggest that right off the bat in my first post, but refrained from that so as not to be accused of being condescending.
I always get a gray grid for transparency in ACR, no matter what, never a solid-color gray or solid any-other color.
To be honest, I can't fathom why you would care that you get the same result.
Totally off topic: I can't stand Kelby. :-/

IPhone not showing up in Image Capture

My iPhone 6 isn't showing up in Image Capture. I wouldn't care but the app launching every time I plug the phone in is driving me crazy. But to stop that from happening I need to select my device from the list on the left in the app -- only it's not there. Running Yosemite 10.10. Any ideas as to what to do? Thanks!

I had the same problem. I've fixed it by hard reseting my iPhone 6. (Simultaneously hold Power & Home button until you see Apple logo appear onscreen.)

What specific information would you need? The program was working just fine early yesterday morning and than when I came back in the afternoon to edit some more pictures that is when I wasn't able to see the full image anymore. It is providing me with all of the editing options as if the picture is there but it is just a blank screen with the thumbnail pic showing in the right panel.

[CC 2014] Why does showing transparency grid makes paths appear offset?

When I use menu command View > Show Transparency Grid it looks like an offset path effect gets applied to all paths, even text.
This is giving me an incorrect view of my document. Very frustrating.
This is what I'm seeing when I toggle Show Transparency Grid:

I've now discovered that the inaccurate "offset path" effect only happens when using File > GPU Preview.
Investigating further, I finally noticed the new options in Preferences > Experimental Features. The one called "Enhance Thin Lines" is the culprit. Toggle it off and the problem ceases.
Is it a bug or intended behavior? Whatever the case, I find the effect harmful and not helpful. I'll be leaving that option off from now on.

Which image isn't showing for you? They all seem to be working in Safari, Chrome, Firefox for me. You may be seeing some caching issues in Chrome. Clear your browser cache and see if that helps.

Transparency grid outside of canvas?

I just upgraded to CS5 from CS3 yesterday and I'm trying to figure out if what I'm seeing/doing is a "feature" or a "bug". When i expand a window to show the grey area around an image and then command+click on a layer mask to load a selection, the grey area outside of the image changes to the transparency grid. It's not a usable area, and it's without question not part of the image. I just want to change it back without quitting out of photoshop each time. Anybody familiar with this?
As a side note, the eyedropper behaves strangely after this occurs. When clicking to select a new color, the entire image turns black. I can't help but think this is some type of new masking feature, but I cannot find any documentation on it to either learn how to use it or turn it off. Is it a CS5 bug?

Learning Filtering: Smart Collections doesn't show all filtered images

I'm studying using Classroom In A Book so this test is small and only using the few images provided on the CIAB CD.
It says in the book that a Smart Collection is a selection filtered according to whatever rules you specify.
This is fine, but when I click the down arrow to the left side of the screen to see the listings under Smart Collections only some of the filtered images are shown. Images that I marked with red are shown as a Smart Collection. Images that I marked with Green (only one) does not show. A single image that I marked with five stars shows up as a Smart Collection, so it can't be that you need more than one item marked before it shows up as a Smart Collection. I made sure that I have highlighted the folder that contains the images (made it local) and that they are displayed in Library Mode and in Grid View.
What might cause some of the images I have applied filter attributes to not to show up in Smart Collections?

What does the book say? It says "a Smart Collection is a selection filtered according to whatever rules you specify." It means the rules you specify for you r smart collection. These are default "canned" lightroom collections. The first happens to have the rule "show labelled with red", the second — "show 5-star images". Images tha match the rules defined in a SC - are displayed in that SC.
Double-click any smart collection to see its rules.
To create a new smart collection with your own rules, click Library>New Smart Collection.
The Smart Collections I have were created without me double-clicking on anything. The book just told me to try out some of the ways to mark images and to try out each way. All of a sudden, Smart Collections appeared with some of the marked images. I was just wondering why it stopped at some but did not do them all? Also, what if I don't want Smart Collections at this point? How do I turn it off from making arbitrary Smart Collections without my prompting?
Don't get me wrong dorin_nicolaescu, I am a beginner and know nothing. You sound like you have a good grip on what Smart Collections are and how they work. What you have writtenis helpful, especially the part about "To create a new smart collection with your own rules, click Library>New Smart Collection."
I am still in a Fog about why Smart Collections starts collections on its own.

Lastest iWeb on Maverick working fine, but well I upload website, photo grids are not showing!

I have the lasted iWeb and Maverick. I open iWeb and everything is fine, I can see photo grids, add images, change text...etc. I can publish the site to a folder on desktop and upload it using Cyberduck. However, once I check the website, the photo grids are not showing. I tried opening it in different browers, deleting Caches, publishing the whole site, publishing just the change page, nothing seems to be working.
After publishing, I check the folders and the media files and images are there, but they will not upload to website. What's going on?

Then you've not uploaded all of the files to the server. With Cyberduck you should get a Finder link window of your account folder on the server. There you can manually upload the site folder to your account and have it replace the existing site folder. Watch the upload carefully to see if there are any messages about files not uploaded, etc.
What's the URL of your site so we can examine it first hand?

My master cover art for "The Circus Life Podcast" isn't showing up in the store, only the podcast library. Can anyone help?

I just uploaded my new podcast, "The Circus Life Podcast" to iTunes via Libsyn. The master artwork for the show itself is not showing up in the store, only the library in the podcast app once you have subscribed. Me and my partner can't for the life of us figure out what to do. The RSS feed was submitted and approved over a week ago and still the artwork isn't show. Can anyone help?

Below are specs from Apple for artwork. They don't mention the 500kb limit - but it seems at least for .jpg images - any we have seen issues with that meet all the other requirement are over 500 kb - and lowering the file size was able to get them working.
But per CMYK - that definitely will not work on the iTunes store. Change your artwork to RGB - get the file size down below 500kb - and reupload to libsyn - with a new file name and your artwork should show up in 1 to 5 days.

Put the URL to the image in the href attribute. iTunes prefers square .jpg images that are at least 1400x1400 pixels, which is different from what is specified for the standard RSS image tag. Creating rollover buttons that also show a gallery image

Hi all.
I'm a newbie to Dreamweaver, so please bear with me!
Here's what I'm trying to do: I'm creating a portfolio gallery. I want to have a thumbnail button that will rollover and show its "down" image and also the corresponding portfolio image in the gallery window. I know this can be done, as I've seen it numerous times. So far, I've only found tutorials on how to create the button and not both button and gallery image.
Any suggestions? And please - no code! I can't seem to successfully implement code, as I'm html-retarded! So if you can offer a tutorial link or even how to create this using the Designer interface in Dreamweaver, I'd TOTALLY appreciate it.

This isn't something you can do with HTML alone. You need a slideshow or gallery widget.

As for a mouseover effect on thumbnails, you can do that easily with CSS.

Annoying transparency grid

I'm using Adobe Reader X in Windows Vista. Every time I open a pdf I see the transparency grid over the document. When I go into Preferences and Page Display and and turn off "Show transparency grid" and then click OK, the grid disappears. But the next time I open the same pdf or any other pdf the grid is back! How do I make it go away permanently?

Never seen that. Try deleting the preferences file. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. What else is running? What version of OSX down to the decimal point? What version of AE down to the decimal point?

Layers do not display the transparent grid

I must have hit some obscure keyboard command because now, when I create a layer, instead of a transparent grid behind the image, I get a black background. Can't find where I can change it back.

Short answer is Yes.
The Long answer also depends on both ends iChat menu > Preferences > Accounts > Security tab settings when it is an AIM (@mac.com or MobileMe as well) Account.
If they set Allow Buddy List Only but don't add you then you can not see them either.
Same if they Block you
Same if they use Allow Specific People and don't add you.
Actually with these settings neither end can see each other.
With Invisible, the person who is set to Invisible can see which of their Buddies is On line (Available or Away), like a one way mirror.
Add to that mistyping Screen Names and such and it can get hard to find out what is actually up.
(it is easier if the Buddy normally shows up but has stopped for a while and then it is most likely the Invisible setting that they have forgotten about as their Buddy list looks normal)

Recent phone call isn't showing

After I upgraded my iPhone, the recent phone call list isn't showing. In addition, I cannot see my missed calls. The list is all empty no matter how many phone calls I had. And the notification of ' Recents' is always '-1.
How should I fix it?? I upgraded my phone to the newest system already.

Lets presume you have added the Apple ID you are using to Mesages on the Mountain Lion computer and had created the iMessages account in that App.
Then you have gone to the iPhone and Added the Apple ID there.
The Mac needs to be at least at OS X 10.8.2 and the iPhone at iOS 6 as this is where the iPhone number and Apple ID can be linked.
When you have added the Apple ID to the iPhone a pop up should appear on the Mac saying the iPhone is using it's Number and the Apple ID and accepting this adds the iPhone Number to the Messages app in the receive "Alias" list and the Send From drop down.
Ignoring the Pop up on the Mac or Denying it rather than accepting it does not add the iPhone number to the Info in the iMessages account.
