Transparency background checkerboard pattern/can it be made a visible layer

is there a way to actually use the checkerboard pattern in a photoshop file as a visible part of the artwork?
thank you!

Being picky, AND knowing more than one way to skin this cat, I'd probably NOT use a screen shot.
lol lol lol lol.

  • Help! Trying to import image with transparent background

I'm trying to import a picture that has a transparent backgound so when i layer it over video its just the picture itself not the canvas it was made on.
In photo shop I made it on a transparent canvas.
    Whats my next step?

    Thank you.
I have made my image with a transparent background in photoshop, now I need to bring it into final cut pro maintaining that transparent background, so I can layer it on video.
    How to I do this?

  • Save image with transparent background

    Hello,
I use the IMAQ vis in labview to cut out from a tif image an object that appears on a grey spotty background and paste the object on a "clean" background. Currently the "clean" background is white. The image is saved as a tif file and read in photoshop where the object is rotated to match a predefined orientation. The problem is that the white background also rotates which is not desirable. When the manipulation is done entirely in photoshop (cutout + pasting + rotation), the clean background and the object are placed in different layers. Is there a way to do this in Labview, that is to create an image where the background and the object would be read by photoshop as being in different layers? Alternatively, can the clean background be  made transparent in labview. I understand the png  files  can have a transparent background. How can I specify that the background is transparent instead of white?
    Thank you for your help

  • Picture Dropshadow w/ Transparent Background

Bit of a new user here. Anyway, in CS5 I'm trying to make some pictures have a drop shadow effect with a transparent background so they can be posted on various background colors or patterns. The problem being that when I save, the background is either white or has artifacts. I have tried creating a new transparent background layer, enlarging, adding the drop shadow, cropping as needed and saving as gif or png with transparency selected to no avail. Let me know if there's another way.
    Thanks for any help

Are you trying to hide the background behind the ciclid? So that only the fish shows? thats what a female convict right? or very young male.
Edit: i see now trying to get the picture its self to show a shadow.

  • Using PNG files with transparent background - Please Help

I just purchased Elements to do a very specific task which I can’t do in Aperture. I am a former photoshopper (V.5) and excited to be back.
I am doing a book/scrapbook and the majority of my text will be my own handwriting. I use white paper and black ink and I scan in at the highest settings. My goal is to create my handwriting on a transparent background so I can place it in my book as I choose. For this specific project (which is very large in scope) I wanted to keep my image/file management within Aperture.
So I import my file (of my handwriting) from Aperture and successfully saved with a transparent background. Adobe said I had to save it as a PNG file. I noticed when I saved in Photoshop there was a warning saying I had to save as a copy.
Aperture does not see the file when I try to import it back. My interchange between aperture and photoshop is fine otherwise. This problem only seems to be with “unflattened” layered images. When I flatten the image it is recognized by Aperture, but I lose the transparent background in Photoshop.
If anyone sees flaws here or has a suggestion to “isolate” and save my personal handwriting image files I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Would probably work best if you first export from Aperture as PSD (if possible, like Lightroom) and then save to preserve layers.
From the PSD save as PNG24 rather than PNG8 which is better for preserving transparency.

  • Creating transparent backgrounds in Keynote for export as titles in FCP

I am creating titles in Keynote and exporting them into Final Cut. I was wondering if anyone knows how to make transparent backgrounds so I can overlay the titles on videos. I have tried "include transparency" but have been unsuccessful. I haven't found any help files to address this situation.
    Many thanks

    1. make sure your slide background is set to NONE, no color, no image
    no nothing
    2. Check the Include Transparency check box when you choose the
    QuickTime export
    3. Choose Custom from the formats pop-up
    4. Click the Settings button
    5. Choose Animation or PNG from the pop-up (it probably says Sorenson)
    6. Choose Millions of Colors+ from the depth pop-up
Make any other quality or frame settings, and export it. You SHOULD get
a movie that has a transparent background.

  • Making a image have a transparent background

I was given a image and asked to use it as a logo for a website. It is a black image with a white background. How do I get a transparent background so I can post the image on a web page and only see the image and not the white background it has? I am using photoshop elements 5.0. Thanks.

For me, best solution for extracting an image from its background is using a terrific plug-in for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. It's called GML Matting. It's free, functions flawlessly and you can create some amazing images with it. I save the extracted images with transparent backgrounds as PSDs.
You can download it here: http://research.graphicon.ru/image-processing/gml-matting-6.html
Select the latest version from the menu. After it's installed, you'll find it at the bottom of the Filters pull-down.
    I've used it with Elements 2, 5 and 7.
How well does it work? You can decide. I took two photos, one of my Jeep parked in a parking lot, overlooking a quiet bay. Then I took another photo of the rough surf on the ocean side of the island. Using Elements 5 with the GML Matting plug-in, I extracted the Jeep and its shadow and dropped the image onto the photo of the surf. It took about 30 minutes to clean up edges (using various Elements tools). When completed, the resulting image is virtually impossible to detect as a composite.
    Here's the finished image: http://home.att.net/~historyworld/OceanBeachJeep.jpg
You can see a review of the plug-in and see the images to create my composite by scrolling through the linked thread below (on the Photocamel forums). http://photocamel.com/forum/image-editing-color-management/48945-free-background-removal- software.html

  • How would you do this "star burst" tutorial but have transparent backgrounds when you're finished

I been playing around with this tutorial and have a really fun project to apply it to, but I really need a transparent background so I can use it on a couple different backgrounds.  I tried just selecting the backgrounds and snipping them out, but can't figure out how stop the gradient layer at top from filling the entire background. I also tried just flattening it and cutting it out.  Really neither of those solution make for anything that look slick.  Is there another way to do this tutorial or way to not have a background at the end?  I'm using Adobe Photoshop CS4, thanks.

Yes, Trevor is correct about the antlines.  They are only an average of the selection.  There are lots of ways to create burst effects like this.  You could smooth out the jagged lines with a slight radial blur.  The only problem with it is that you either have to have what you want to blur perfectly centered in you document, or attempt to guess where the center is in the very small dialog box.  With the above image, I use the angle gradient tool set to noise.  This give a wild multcolored gradient, which I then converted to B&W, adjusted the contrast, put in screen mode, and manually masked the areas I wanted.
Jack you have some great workflow ideas.  Using the gradient tool that way was new to me, but what a great tool to have in your virtual Photoshop toolbox.  I had to hunt for how to set the Angle gradient to noise, but these two links did the trick for me:

  • How to create transparent background video?

I'm trying to add some filters to some some imported text files from Photoshop, but they don't work so well so I need to import them as transparent video files. So, how do I export the text as a ProRes file from FCP with a transparent background so I can re-import it and add the video filters?
I've tried fiddling around with the alpha channels but the background always seems to be black.

You don't export the files as a ProRes clip.
Place your text on a transparent background and export from PS as .tiff or .png stills. They will composite automatically. You can set the default length required in FCP's User Preferences...
You must do this before you import the files.

  • Save picture with keeping transparent background

How can I save a picture as JPEGG and keep de transparent background?

You can not as jpg does not support Transparency.
You might be able to save it with a Path and use the Path in a layout application but that is technically not proper Transparency.
For that you would need to save the image in a file format that does support it (psd, png24, …).
