Transparency Flattener only affects a few pages

I'm trying to use the transparency flattener to essentially rasterize all the text in a PDF. (Before the pitchforks come out, it's for legal reasons... hands are tied.)
I open the Transparency Flattener preview, move the Raster/Vector slider all the way to 0, change the dpi to 400, select the All Pages radio button, hit apply, and it seems like only a random sampling of pages actually gets rasterized. Most text is still selectable. Any ideas on how I might go about figuring out what's going on? I've done exporting each page to an image, then recombining to a PDF, but the file size is just too big.
Using Acrobat XI Pro on Windows 7.

Options:
- Open the files in Photoshop and save as an image PDF.
- Export all pages as TIFF/JPEG and then re-import them Acrobat.

I have just bought an iPad, partly to check that my websites work OK on mobile devices.   When I load a page with several jpgs (e.g. one 1920x720, then 8-10 800x800px), only the first few are shown.  If I remove the large one, that sometimes fixes the problem. Behaviour is similar for Safari and Chrome. Is this a website issue or iPad?

Sorry, I didn't make myself clear.  I'm using a new Wordpress theme that is meant to be responsive.  The large image is for a header, than you scroll down to see the rest, one by one.  Some one the pages work OK on my iPad, typically the old ones where the maximum image size was 500 x 500.  It's the new pages and those I've updated that are causing the problem.  On the iPad the large image loads, then a couple of the small ones become visible as I scroll down, but then darkness (rather like my knowledge level).
Being new to IOS and iPads, I'm trying to work out whether I should be looking here, or amongst the Wordpress stuff for a solution.
Here's the website with its new theme: http://www.new-zealand-pictures.com/

The option should be visible here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Printing%20a%20web%20page#w_print-window-settings
Print range section - Lets you specify which pages of the current web page are printed:
    * Select '''All''' to print everything.
    * Select '''Pages''' and enter the range of pages you want to print. For example, selecting "from 1 to 1" prints the first page only.
    * Select '''Selection''' to print only the part the page you've highlighted.
    Does it work for you?

  • No Authentication for application but need to be authorized for few pages

    Hi,
I am new to the security concepts of APEX. Could you please assist me if my below requirement could be acheived, if so how?
My application has 'No Login Authentication' schema selected which makes it open for any user, and this is as per our requirement. I have few pages which have to be accessed only by
    * Administrator
    * Higher Management team
    * Some pages where any enduser need to login (for instance, for posting any query, I would require to know the owner of the query for which I require the user to be authenticated and further have email communications)
Any assistance in this regard is much appreciated.
    Thanks & regards,
    Anasuya

    Anasuya,
You need to select an appropriate authentication scheme based on how you want to authenticate users and then make all pages "public" except for those that require authenticated access. For those authenticated pages, you can then assign authorization scheme to limit which authenticated users are authorized for each page.

  • I have the kindle app on my iPad.  I downloaded a kindle version of a songbook. I would like to print out a few pages of the music.  I cannot download the file to my computer and cannot print from the iPad as the page format does not allow it.

How can I print out a few pages of a kindle ebook (music) from my iPad.
How can I download this book to my iMac from the iPad.  It is NOT in my e books library, but I can only access it from my kindle app.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

One work around is, if the Kindle app allows, make a screen cap of the page and print that.
Hold down the sleep and home keys and relase them together....kinda like you'd press the shutter of a camera, a joint quick down and up
You'll see a white flash and hear a shutter sound. Then look in your photos app and you'll see the images. You can print them just like you'd print a photo.

  • Anytime I try to print in Firefox a Microsoft KB article that is 1 page, I always only get the first page.

Anytime I print any Microsoft KB article, I only get the first page worth of text. This is very troubling because the articles are typically long, and I only get 1 page. The second page always comes out blank (even though in IE it will print out multiple pages with all the text).
My specific example today is listed in the URL below. This example will only print to the "DIR" command, I don't get the full page printed out.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone have a resolution? I hate having to hit up IE just to print a single article.
I updated to FF 8.01 just to make sure, and I have tried different printers and even computers, to no avail. Even the print preview has the issue, only the first page worth of text is printed and the second page is always blank (even if there are 3, 4, 5, etc pages of data to be printed).
I have also tried the Firefox Menu -> Print command, and the "on-page" print command. I have seen moderate success with highlighting all the text that I want to print and going to "Print-Selection" but it is ugly.
Any feedback or assistance is greatly appreciated.

  • Acrobat 9 Transparency Flattening Colour Shift

    Hi all,
This is something I found out the hard way, and it seems like a real trap in Acrobat 9.
I have a document prepared in ID, exported to PDF/X-4 with all profiles included. The document is prepared in RGB model (AdobeRGB), because we're printing in house on Epson 4800 tabloid printer.
All looks fine onscreen in Acrobat. (Colour managed setup etc).
But when printing to the Epson, the images have poor shadow detail and are darker than they should be.
I eventually figured out that it is to do with the colour space used for Transparency Flattening. It took me a while to find it, but by default it is set to "Device RGB" on my system in the Flattener Preview. When I changed it to Adobe RGB, which is the colour working space used in the document, the prints come out correctly.
    Observations:
    1. Changing the colour space for flattening is not persistent as a general setting, but you can save it back to the PDF.
    2. Even though it appears on the same dialog, the colour space is not stored with the transparency flattener presets.
    3. This setting has an ongoing effect on how the document is printed (i.e. after the dialog is closed), even though the dialog leads you to believe it only relates to flattening preview.
What puzzles me is why this setting can't be put there with the correct value when ID generates the PDF.
Is there anything else I've overlooked here? This seems like a really nasty little trap for the unwary.

  • Why can I not select the transparency flattener preset option when exporting to a pdf?

    Hi all,
I have not had to use this option in quite a while so may have forgotten a few things.
In InDesign, under Edit>Transparency Flattener Presets, I have created a new preset and included the option of converting all text to outlines.
However, when I try to export to a PDF, the option to select a transparency flattener preset is greyed out.
Can you tell me what I may be doing wrong? This is driving me crazy!:(
(There was originally no transparency in the file, so I created some with a white square set to 0.5% opacity).
Thanks in advance for your help!
    Best regards,
    Christine

    Thank you SO MUCH!!
I have been battling with this for over an hour...and it was frustrating me no end. 1 minute into reading the article you suggested and I was home free!! THANK YOU...!! You're my hero!

Oh, and I also reset my NVRAM, my computer hasn't frozen again yet, so I'm not sure if it has made a difference.

  • Help with Transparency Flattener!

I'm working with an Indesign file that has Illustrator links, which contain gradient meshes that use transparency. When I export my Indesign file, the transparency flattener does something very strange to the gradient mesh: it displays the vector lines of the mesh as dark grey lines.
I've found a way around this problem, but it is not ideal. If I export the file as Acrobat 4, I can change the transparancy flattener settings, and eliminate the issue. However, if I use Acrobat 4, I also lose the ability to add hyperlinks in the document (of which I have a number) Why is that that if you use a higher version of acrobat (5 or above) you suddenly lose the ability to manage the transparancy flattener? Why would older versions of the product allow more freedom and control?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Below are screeshots of what it looks like in illustrator, and then flattened but the default flatteners of acrobat 5 and above. Really, I just want to be able to achieve a customized flattener that doesn't contain those dark lines, but not have to use actobat 4 to do it.
    Thanks!
    jason

    Hi Steve—
Your questions have half solved my problem for me!
I'm using the latest version of Indesign (7.5) and Illustrator (15.1.0)
I'm exporting using the High Quality Print setting (I know, a bit strange to use this setting AND want hyperlinks, but the PDF is intended for web distribution to people who might decide to print it) and when I choose anything above acrobat 4 in the compatibility drop down (5, 6, 7...) then the transparency flattener is greyed out in the advanced tab, with medium set as the default. If i want to choose my own flattener settings, I have to go with PDF 4, at which point I lose hyperlinks. I've also tried exporting choosing Adobe PDF (Interactive) from the initial menu, but that results in the same lines in the gradient mesh.
However, it turns out this issue is only happening when viewing the pdf in apple's preview app. It actually looks fine in acrobat. However, seeing as how Preview is the default app for viewing PDFs on a mac, I'm concerned that a bulk of our audience will be seeing it this way.
I know this likely puts things out of the realm of adobe, but if you have any wisdom to impart,  I'd appreciate it. Attached is what the file looks like viewed acrobat (above) and preview (below).
    thanks!

  • Transparency Flattener Settings

I have been getting conflicting information about the settings for the transparency flattener preset options when creating PDFs out of InDesign and I wanted to get things straight. From one side I was told to change the setting to read: Raster/Vector Balance 100, Line Art Text Res 2400 ppi and Gradient Mesh Res 300 ppi. And the other side says that the High Resolution default settings work just fine and that these settings are like the appendix in CS3, totally unnecessary! I am working in CS3 and use the PDF/X-1a:2001 setting to export. Any insight would be great, thanks.

The only difference between [High res] and the values you quote is "Line Art Text Res 2400 ppi"
And the only time that is used (as long as "vector-pixel" is set to 100) is when you use an effect (say a drop shadow) with a softness of less than 0.5pt.
I.e. the quoted values give you a better result for very hard effects at the price of 4 times the data volumen in the PDF.
You yourself must decide if you need your hard shadows in 2400ppi or 1200ppi.

All it shows is that the tracks SHOULD be OK.
