Transparency frame of moving, resizing clip in 6.5

In Premiere 6.5, I'm trying to move and resize a transparent clip.  That works, however, the result only shows the background that is that size of the resized clip area.  That is, the frame of the clip (the green screen area, that is chroma'd into transparency) becomes the only part of the composite that I can see.  The clip moves and shrinks, and the viewable area of the background moves and shrinks along with it.
I can make the frame of the clip huge, so that as it shrinks it always includes the background, however, this seems like a kludge, and requires specially sizing the part of the clip that I want to show.
How might I more effectively move and resize a clip without it effectively "matte-ing" out the background?
Any help with this would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Let me try another explanation, on a hypothetical example (similar to my real project)
Say I've got a picture of a sidewalk as the background.
I've got a picture of a ball as the foreground.
I put the picture of the ball on a "green screen"
I put the ball on Video Track 2, the sidewalk on Video Track 1
In the Transparency Effect for the ball, I select chroma, and select the green backcolor
In the Motion effect for the ball, I have it move from top to bottom, and as it moves down, it decresases in size by 50%.
The problem is that as that as the frame for the ball shrinks, the view "thru the now-transparent green screen" also shrinks...I only see the part of the sidewalk behind the shrinking ball frame.
I've looked at (have the trial, but not fully investigated) Elements 8, and it looks like it's Premiere 6.5 repackaged with a (pardon me) eye-punishing format, a dumbed down (and thus harder to use) GUI, and a mass market price.
So, I'm assuming if there's a way to beat this problem in Elements, it can be done the same way in 6.5
Thanks again for attention to this.  I'd like to clarify that at this point it is somewhat academic, because I'm probably going to be able generate all my animations outside Premiere and import then as individual frames.  Works slick!  However it would be nice to know how to do the above, in case it's needed.

  • Picture frame gets moved/resized during preview with iPad

    Hi Guys:
    This happens to a certain type of layout:
    Add a gallery widget to a page
    add only one image to the gallery widget
    Draw a rectangle shape in the page
    Select the rectangle, open the inspector, and add a picture frame decoration to the rectangle.
    Make the rectangle "Not filled" with any color, therefore we get a picture frame
    Put the picture frame on top of the gallery widget
    The gallery widget looks like an ordinary photo, decorated with a picture frame
    The problem:
    The aforementioned layout looks good in iBookAuthor, but when preivewing the book in iPad, the picture frame gets moved (or resizied), therefore it doesn't match the gallery widget.
    after the preview, widgets in the iBookAuthor remains good.
    My question:
    I think it is a bug of either the preview process, or the widgets. if this is the case. I'd deprecate this layout in my book and won't use it anymore.
    Further thoughts:
    I noticed that some type of picture frames are not in high resolution, when previewing the book in iPad, tap to maximize an interactive image with picture frame decorated, it is kind of obverious that the picture frame doesn't have high resolution.
    Any suggestion will be appreciated, thank you.

    What happens if you export an .ibooks file, then move it to iTunes and sync to your iPad (delete all previews of that same book first)...?
    Previews are just simplified PDFs and shouldn't be trusted to layout and work the same as a final book.

  • How to delete the transparent frames that Pluraleyes adds to replaced audio clips in an event ?

    Hi there,
    I have a workflow issue working with Pluraleyes 3 and FCPX.
    MY CONTEXT
    So I imported all my clips into FCPX (about 300 from camera 1, about 300 from camera 2 and separate audio which ran almost with only very few interruptions on set).
    I synced everything with PE which gives me back the following :
    1. a new Event with replaced audio clips.
    2. a new Event with one giant multicam clip.
    3. a new project completely synced BUT with the non-replaced audio clips
    MY PROBLEMS
    1. Problem is that the clips have additional transparent frames before and after their actual video (i.e. PE makes new clips from video and longer bits of audio that do not begin/end at the same time).
    2. The giant multicam clip has plenty of chunks where audio was recorded but where no video was.
    MY QUESTIONS
    PE has created plenty of useless clip lengths. How can I get rid of them with some batch process ?
    OR if I say that another way
    How can I create an EVENT that contains clips with the exact same length as the originals, only with the corresponding audio replaced ? (Please remind that I have LOTS of clips)
    Moreover, the clips within the new events created by PE have (not surprisingly) lost all keywords I gave to the clips before syncing with PE. Is there any way to fix this ?
    Thank you so much because it feels like PE's job is kinda useless  :-/

    It's the Shift key. It's not a button. It's shifts from lower case to upper case when typing. It's been called the Shift key since the 19th century.

  • After PreRend. - Last frame of a clip is copied into the first 2 frames o. t. following clip

    Hey Guys - Michi here,
    and I am dealing with a horrible problem!
    I just got rid of Premiere CS6 (Where I was dealing with the same problem) and got the new Version of Premiere. I really love it!
    Heres the Problem I am dealing with:
    Everytime i've finished a sequence i go to:
    Sequence -> Render Section.
    Then the Rendering Window pops up and PR CC does his job.
    But when replaying the prerenderes section i noticed something.
    I zoomed that much into timeline so i was able to see every frame of the clip - because the play back seemed kind of OffBeat to me. And the thing that happend to every clip that was directly laying beside another clip - so there was no space between them - was, that after the PreRendering Premiere CC (and CS6 DID THE SAME) copied the last frame of the clip into the frist two frames of the following clip - so the are reeeeally tiny "still" pictures between every transitions. -> And that means, that the clip that is shown in the "Program Window" - Monitor in which you can preview the PreRenderes Video - doesn't change to the beat I've edited it on, BUT it changes 2 frames later!!
    Here are some screenshots:

    http://up.picr.de/16781445al.jpg       Pic 5
    In Pic. 1 you can see, that the Marker (the red thin bar) in the Timeline is laying on the last frame of the clip on the left - the clip is called GoPro2130.MP4 (120%).
    If i move the marker now over the the first frame of the clip called GoPro2130 (114.99%) the preview should change - but there is still the frame that was shown in the preview window at Pic.1
    Now i moved the marker over for another frame (Pic. 3) - The same frame that is shown in Pic. 1 & 2 is still on the preview window.
    NOW i moved the marker over for another frame (Pic 4 - 3rd frame of the new clip) AND NOW the clip finally changes although the clip should have changed 3 frames before..
    ITS HORRIBLE!! I really dont know what to do..
    Sorry for the huge text and the bad english (Student from Germany).
    You guys are my last hope.
    Regards, Michi.

    Thanks for your suggestion about using the clip markers.   I tried them on a test clip.   They did not come down to the timeline.  Besides, I would want them labeled.   Right now all my clips have a marker that is labeled with the date and location.   The chapter markers are labeled the same way.   I have a spread sheet that list the dates of all the Chapter Markers which connect to the dates on the menu.     This seems like an old fashion way to do things for such a sophisticated software.   Maybe I should put in a feature suggestion to Adobe.   I would do that, but I am afraid that I may embarrass myself as being the only one that ever asked for something like that.   Or they would accuse me of misusing their software.
    Again, thanks for your suggestion.

  • Changing resolutions in FCP X and how to go about resizing clips that get sized down.

    Hey all! After changing an FCP X project resolution from 760 x 480 to 1080 x 720 (I think those were the dimensions; I am not right in front my project right now to check; basically, from SD to HD), how do you go about resizing clips that now appear smaller within the frame? In my case, I have a cutaway clip that is now appearing at a very small size scale in the middle of the frame, and the clip from which it is supposed to cut away is visible in the background. The strange thing is--this clip does not appear to have a problem when I am viewing it in the FCP X project. It does, however, become smaller when the project is uploaded to YouTube. Please help, I'm trying to finish this project by tomorrow, and this is LITERALLY the only thing that is holding me back!!

    The original footage was shot in 1080p, and I didn't realize that I wasn't working in an HD resolution on FCP X until I tried to upload the project to YouTube. Not trying to change SD clips to HD; trying to work in an HD resolution with 1080p footage. I hope that makes sense...
    I will have to wait until tomorrow to post the exact media specs...as I said, I am not in front of the project right now and do not have access to it from my home computer.
    When I say "cutaway clip," I mean a video clip that is layered over an interview clip, and plays while you can still hear the interview narration (see photo below). From what I've read so far, I agree in that I think the frame is letter-boxed/pillar-boxed, which I believe can be adjusted in the "Spatial Conform" section of the Inspector. Just wanted to make sure this was correct.
    Below you will see a screen shot of what this clip looks like on YouTube. Basically, in FCP X, it is appearing at 100% in terms of size scale, and the clip behind it is not visible.

  • Problem to create animated gif using transparent frames

    Hi, everyone:
    My name is Edison, I am playing with Gif89Encoder utility classes to make an animated gif which is a requirement for my course work.
    I got some problem about the transparent frames. I used the png image as the frame to create the animated gif,
    those pngs have transparent colors and the background is totally transparent, when i create the animated the gif with those
    frames, the animated gif display the colors but without transparency for those colors, but the background is transparent as expected.
    I am not sure if I should IndexGif89Frame or DirectGif89Frame for the colors from the Gif89encoder package.
    Is there anyone got the same problem and knows how to fix it?
    The following is how i setup the colors in my png file, the alpha channel is 80.
    Color[] colours = new Color[7];
              colours[0] = new Color(255, 255, 255, 0);

              colours[5] = new Color(204,102,255,80);
              colours[6] = new Color(255, 0, 0, 80);The code i did to generate gif:

  • Sencing the frame of a movie clip on click

    Hello.
    I have a project where the user will enter a frame with a movie clip and stop. The movie clip will continuously play a looping animation until the user selects one one the navigation options. After an option is selected I need the main timeline to move to a new frame but I need the movieclip timeline to continue playing at the exact place it was at when option was selected. Is there anyway to do this.
    As a side note I originally tried to work around the problem by staying at the same frame in the main time line and just loading movies on top of it. This was not a successful solution as it caused many headaches down the line.
    Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

    It's not entirely clear what you want.  In what way will the movieclip continue to play if you move away from the frame it lives in?  It cannot continue to do anything if you move away from it in the timeline.  If you mean that upon returning to that frame you want it to continue from where it left off, then you will need to have a variable that you assign the movieclips currentFrame value to so that you can tell it to play from there.
    If you want the movieclip to remain visible and playing, then if you dynamically load the movieclip that you want at that frame of the main timeline, it should remain in view regardless of where you move on the main timeline.  The reason for this being that dynamically loaded content does not have a home on the timeline unless you provide one for it, such as loading into a manually planted empty movieclip.

  • Why is the green screen visible on the last frame before the next clip?

    Hey guys!
    Maybe I'm ******** but i m having trouble here. I have "key-ed" a bunch of clips and successfully removed the green screen from them. But when placed in the timeline, the green screen of the clip reappears for the single frame before a next clip starts.
    I've re-rendered and chopped ends off but the green screen keeps appearing in the last frame of any keyed clip that is about to cut to a different clip.
    Where am i going wrong?

    Hey! I tried both suggestions but even the self contained quicktime file has the green screen frames popping up.
    I just dont get it, it's infuriating!
    I used "chroma keyer" effect on the clip, only enable "key on saturation", the green screen disappears, I place clip on V2 and image on V1. Image is then visible where the green screen was. All is well until the last frame before a next clip because on that ast frame the green screen appears again. Where am I going wrong? Please help!

  • Resizing clips in drop zones with motion 5.04

    Can someone please help me resize clips in the dropzones.  When I drag the clip into the dropzone it show as too high up causing the head of my subject to be cut off as an example.  I do not see anywhere that shows a "fit" option in the inspector or anywhere else.  I purchase templates with dropzones in place.  Also when I try to resiize the handles that are showing, the complete drop zones resizes.
    Is there some parameters I am supposed to using with the clip itself?

    The "Adjust Item" tool is contextual, and will only help you move the image around inside of a Drop Zone.
    If you need to "resize" the content of a Drop Zone, use the Scale parameter in the Inspector's "Image" section.
    I happen to be doing this at the moment myself.

  • FCE freezes when moving between clips!  Help?

    Not with all transitions, but with some, sometimes even moving between clips from the same batch of film(!) FCE will stop playing through in the timeline, sound will jerk to a halt, and I'll then see what I call the "Colorful wheel of death" as FCE tries to deal with it and stops responding, making me Force Quit, which is a Jedi ability I now have much use in, btw... I have tried to Trash Prefs but still no good, and as I am fairly new to this software, with less than a year's experience, I need help!
    I have three major projects to do before year's end!
    What do I do?

    Be sure everything is rendered before you playback. Be sure none of the windows (particularly Canvas) are overlapping.
    Move your RT playback quality to low.
    Sometimes it helps to reduce the opacity of an offending clip to 99% (via the motion tab in the viewer)before playing your sequence in the timeline. I can't explain why this works but its saved me alot.

  • While moving a clip to the timeline cc puts it to the righ instead of on top

    Maybe it can't put it on the track above it because you have the lower track set as the Source Patching destination.

  • 2.35:1 masking and resized clips

    Hi
    We're working in FCS2, with a 1080i HD sequence which has some 720x480 DV clips in it.
    The DV pieces were shot anamorphic 4:3, so we need to resize them. That can be done without too much trouble with the distort and scale tools.
    However, we want to place a 2.35:1 mask over the whole sequence, which we've done using the Widescreen Mask video filter on all clips. However, the mask behaves differently on the DV clips, because they've been resized.
    Is there a way (other than creating a new video layer and placing a TIFF mask with an alpha channel) of placing a mask on the sequence that behaves consistently across the whole sequence?
    Thanks!
    Matt

    The old-school technique is to nest your current sequence and place the Widesceen Matte on the nest. Since the Matte acts on the 1080i sequence (at 100% size), you should encounter issues with your resized clips.
    However, if you're sure about the composition of your clips - after placing the Scope matte, you don't need to position content up/down - I'd add the Letterbox matte (under Filters) in Compressor 3, especially if you're going to encode for DVD or transcode for output to SD tape.
    If you're going back to HD tape, I suppose the old-school method works best.

  • Frame reference within a clip within a clip

    this seems to be an almost universally puzzling question as I've not gotten any responses from any of the forums that I've posted on...
    Is it possible for me to have 1 movieclip consisting of multiple movie clips, in a .fla file, and reference specific frames of clips within a frame of the movie clip, from an outside .as file?
    In a .fla file I have a movie clip that consists of several frames, each containing a different movie clip to perform different actions of a character I am attempting to animate.  The basics of the code work fine, but now I'm trying to get into more detailed aspects of the characters actions and interactions and all the tutorials that I've come across thus far direct me to add various aspects of code throughout my animation which I feel would litter my program as this project grows.  My basic code is as follows
    class hero extends MovieClip
        variable definitions up here
        function onLoad()
            variable initializations here
        function onEnterFrame()
            if( Key.isDown(Key.RIGHT) )
                _xscale = 200;
                if( Key.isDown(Key.SHIFT) )
                    gotoAndStop("run");
                    _x = _x + run_speed;
                } else {
                    gotoAndStop("walk");
                    _x = _x + walk_speed;
    // more of that for the other carnal directions of the character's movement...
            } else if ( !Key.isDown() ){
                gotoAndStop("stand");
    This works fine.  Beyond this, I have a frame with the anchor lable "Punch" which contains a movie clip consisting of 5 frames.  Is it possible for me to reference specific frames within the movie clip within this frame of the big movie clip?

    you reference nested clips using dot notation BUT the parent clip must be on a frame where the child exists.  for example, if the _currentframe of parentMC contains childMC,   you could reference the frame number of childMC that's a child of parentMC using:
    trace(parentMC.childMC._currentframe);
    if childMC only exists on frame 2 of parentMC and parentMC is on its first frame, then you would need:
    parentMC.gotoAndStop(2);
    trace(parentMC.childMC._currentframe);
