Transparency issue bolding text

I've had this issue and I thought it was resolved...
On my pages, any text that has any transparent layer over or under it gets auto bolded. This is causing test to look ugly on some parts. I was told to place the text as top layer, but this is not fixing the issue and the text still has bad bolding where it as much as touches a transparent layer. Multiply transparency option is not helping. I have a catalog that needs to go out this week. Help pls...
PS: only affects when printing from a pdf file source. It is not visible until it is printed from the pds. Printing from indesign does not seem to have issues, but my printer uses pdf, and I can't send them my 20gig indesign folder.
Any suggestions?

In Acrobat Tools>Print Production>Output Preview>Preview Separations you can sample the output CMYK:

  • Another issue (bold text when exporting)

    Guys, my text is going bold when I export to PDF.
    I've tried everything, bringing the text to the front, putting the text on a separate layer and putting that layer at the top.
    It's due to a small transparent logo on each page, which I can't afford to lose.
    I've searched and what I've done above seems to solve the problem, but it's not for me!
    Any other suggestions?

    What i've done is put the image back in Photoshop and put a slight background around it which is the same colour as it's background in InDesign.
    This seems to have sorted it!
    The reason I went away from that method beforehand is because I thought that was what was causing the Yucky Discoloured Box.  Obviously from the link you gave me in the other thread it's a printer issue!

  • Maddening issue with text... trapping?

    I have recently taken over as acting editor for a PDF-only publication with a very small audience. My previous experience with InDesign has been with preparing files for CMYK printing, so this is my first opportunity to prepare a document specifically for on-screen display.
    I am using a background image on several pages within the document. However, it would seem that no matter what I do, the resulting PDF does some funny things to the text.
    I have trapping turned off throughout the document, all my text is created from the [black] swatch, and I've specified "overprint fill" in the attributes menu just for good measure. However, no matter how I export my PDF, I get one of two issues:
    (1) With "convert to destination" selected and a CMYK colorspace as the destination, OR with "no color conversion" selected, I end up with trapped text on pages that have a background image, even though the background image only covers a portion of the page. Pages with no background image display text properly.
    (2) with "convert to destination" selected and an RGB colorspace as the destination, I end up with trapped text on pages that have a background image, but only where the background image does NOT appear.
    This is confusing because, in each instance, there's no valid reason for InDesign or Acrobat to display a trap. I've tried creating a trap setting with 0pt specified for the trap, and it doesn't help. See http://www.caves.org/grotto/lrg/images/indesign_frustrations.png for a screenshot of the issue.
    What on earth is going on? I just want overprinting black text to display as untrapped black text, and none of my export options seem to allow the PDF to appear as it does when I have "overprint preview" selected within InDesign. It's imperative that the text be crisp and legible on-screen, and the bloated, messy trapped-looking text is much more difficult to read at "fit page" -level zooms of less than 100%.
    I'm using InDesign CS3 on a Windows machine running Vista 64 with 6MB of RAM. I have not observed any other problems with the CS3 family of products. The font being utilized is Adobe Garamond Pro.
    thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on the issue.
    on my last nerve,
    jeff

    I don't think you are seeing trapping I think you are seeing the results of flattening due to the use of transparency. Some text is either rasterized or converted to outlines. When outlined, text appears heavier because it does not benefit from hinting. You can reduce the use of transparency effects, export to a transparency-savvy version of PDF, or put the text above the transparency issues.
    I suggest a combination. Make a layer for the text above other layers and put all the text there that you can without mucking up the layout. Export to Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4) or higher to avoid flattening.

  • Only bold text physically prints from a printer from a PDF created in Pro 11.0.2

    Hi.
    I have created a PDF of a Microsoft Excel spread sheet in Adobe Pro 11.0.2 but some of the text does not print.
    Have tried two different printers but get the same results.
    There seems to be a pattern in what does and does not print, but it does not make sense as only the bold text seems to print.
    It is written with standard Calibri font in Office Pro Plus 2010 on Win7ProSP1.
    It looks fine on the screen as all text is visible after creating the PDF
    Any comments appreciated...
    Tony Gray

    Try printing as a graphic. It may be that the fonts are not downloading to the printer -- a typical issue with HP printers for some reason.

  • Selective BOLD text in table

    Hi guys,
    I have report on Service Request Active reporting subject area. Standard table view with one additional column with custom text displayed using CASE...WHEN logic. This works perfectly fine.
    What I need is to display the values being pulled to be displayed in BOLD (not the whole field just selective text). for this under column properties in Data Format tab i selected HTML and tried using text/column formula or <b'>text/column formula</b"'> or ['b]text[b'] (added a couple of ' here in the post to remove the forum's formatting) but nothing seems to work out. Can someone point out where to place the bold tags and the format so that i can get this working
    *sample logic statement*
    CASE
    WHEN "- Service Request Custom Attributes".PICK_16 = 'Tier 3 Integration'
    THEN 'Issue 1 = ' || "- Service Request Custom Attributes".PICK_16 || ',<br> ' || 'Issue Owner = '|| IFNULL ("- Service Request Custom Attributes".PICK_20, 'NO OWNER ASSIGNED')
    WHEN "- Service Request Custom Attributes".PICK_17 =
    ELSE 'NULL'
    END
    thanks

    How would I use conditional formatting?
    Let's say I've given the field a custom heading of Issue - Owner (combination of values from 2 separate fields based on certain CASE logic). I go to the Properties>Conditional Format tab> I click on Add Condition and it shows the list of columns. I select Issue - Owner. It throws up the combined values as possible answers which would be incorrect.
    The 2 columns used to combine this are not used in the report, so i cannot use that to filter and if i do add those columns then also i do not get the correct filter settings.
    I have a complete sentece displayed in that column - part of it is static text that i have entered and part of it is the column formula which displays various picklist values based on the logic.
    I need some words of the static text and some of the formula highlighted.
    for e.g. this is displayed in the column
    The Issue 1 is Integration and Issue Owner is John Doe
    Issue 1 is static text while John Doe is value returned based on CASE logic
    I need 2 separate types of data displaed in bold

  • Bold text formatting doesn't work on Android device

    I've encountered AIR issue with text formatting.  Bold formatting doesn't work on android device.
    I've opened item in adobe bug system https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3638337 which describe the issue.
    Currently I haven't received any helpful feedback from adobe bug system.
    That's why I've desided to ask for support here.
    Does somebody know some workaround for that issue?

    Hello Chris,
    I was wondering if you can remind Adobe dev team about this issue.
    AIR 4 is released already and it doesn't have the issue fixed.
    This issue becomes painful for us because we can't update to new AIR versions.
    Currently we stuck with AIR 3.6. AIR 3.6 has bugs on new Android operational systems.
    But we can't migrate to new AIR4 because bold formatting used heavily by our application doesn't work.
    Thank you,

  • RH8: Bold Text in Paragraph Appears Heavier in Firefox

    Noticed recently that bolded text in a paragraph appears differently in Firefox than it does in IE and Chrome. In Firefox the bold text is heavier. We're creating webhelp output using RoboHelp 8 (8.0.2.208). Note that we have recently upgraded to Windows 7 and re-installed RoboHelp. We also upgraded to Firefox 9. We were not seeing this issue before the upgrades. See example below.
    RoboHelp HTML:
    <p><span style="font-weight: bold;">Open Ports</span>. Select to find hosts
    with a particular open TCP or UDP port. Enter the port number in the field
    provided. You may include up to 10 ports, separating each port with a
    comma.</p>
    Appears like this in IE and Chrome (matches WYSIWYG and topic preview from RH):
    Appears like this in Firefox (heavier bold font):
    The paragraph style as defined in the CSS:
    p {
    font-size: 10pt;
    margin-top: 3pt;
    margin-bottom: 7.5pt;
    font-family: Arial;
    Any thoughts on why Firefox looks different? Thanks in advance for your feedback!

    Hi,
    Unless you have a style override somewhere where the font weight is set to 'bolder' or '900' or something, it is just the way Firefox renders it. You can use Firebug to check the CSS applied in Firefox. It may very well be that it's just a render thing as different browsers sometimes render things differently. Nothing to do about that.

    Willam

  • About:config and bold text

    I have noticed that showing ALL bookmarks is very slow.
    I understand that Firebug is sometimes cause for slow behaviour as posted on some notices for applications.
    I like to check why is this and disabled some Ads-on.
    Issue is what is actually about:config and bold text like:
    accessibility.typeaheadfind.flashBar;0
    Is it bold text warning that something is wrong?
    Ref:I have upgraded to new version 9.beta4

    No bold text in about:config means that the value it has modified from you or from a add-on or for a program that related with firefox(flash or anything)......

    if you like to read about:config:

    probably the browsing some times are slow because as you allready known 9.0 is a beta version, and for the reason you tell us, Firebug.

  • IWeb bolded text

    Hi,
    After a recent upgrade to the latest iWeb, all the bold text in  my pages is now showing just as regular text. I cannot figure it out what happend.
    Any ideas?
    Thanx

    It appears to be a browser issue.  This is what I get with Safari:
    Both Firefox and Chrome don't display the bold in these sections.
    Are each of these items:
    Apartment: DELTA CITY
    Location: New Belgrade
    Persons: 4
    Size: 42 m²
    Rate: 45 € or less
    In their own text box?
    On the All Appartments page the Details text boxes are floating a bit in Firefox and Chrome. Some are overlapping the info text above.  You might try inserting the text box into the text box containing the apartment's information and adding Details to that embedded box.  That will prevent the  box from floating from the other box.

  • Emails appear in bold text (subject and body)

    A few days after installing OS X Yosemite on my iMac, all of my Comcast emails appear in bold text (subject and body text). This makes it difficult to distinguish unread email from read email.  I view email directly through the Comcast website (NOT with Outlook or Mail). This issue happens in Firefox and Safari. My email looks normal on other devices. I am working with Comcast to try to resolve the issue, but since it started a few days after upgrading to Yosemite, I thought I'd check here too.

  • Transparency issues with INDCS3 and Pantone color

    Running Windows XP, Serv Pk 2, Creative Suite CS3, All updates.
    Heres the deal: We are having problems with PDFs printing and Ripping when using transparencies and drop shadows.
    Issue 1: INDD CS3 file with transparent PDF placed as image. Separate frame filled with paper, stroke and drop shadow placed under trans PDF file. Filled frame areas of percentage tint using a PANTONE color used on same page. File re-PDFed (compat to v6) and file printed correctly to XEROX 7760 and HP color. PDF views correctly. Recommended ordering policy applied to all layers as to keep drop shadow below text. PROBLEM: User running Acro 7 to printing to same color printers, receives copy with color tint areas missing.
    Issue 2: INDD CS3 file with solid Pantone color on background. Several text frames layered above. Under text frame a solid box with SOLID Drop shadow. PDFed using Acro 8. PROBLEM: User's RIP and DIGITAL presses do not recognize the drop shadow? White knockout box appears in this area.
    It seems that CS3 is handling transparency issues differently and/or that Acro 8 (compat to v6) is doing something different. The Acro 8 users have no problem printing or PDFing.
    Could this also be the "known issue" of transparencies and PANTONE colors? We are testing out converting all the colors to CMYK.
    Please respond at your earliest.
    KEN PANTHEN, Albany, NY

    Ken,
    If your final output is to the Xerox, which can't print Spot colors without converting them to CMYK, you should use process colors instead.

  • Transparency Issues with PSD files in FCP 7

    I'm having some weird file layer transparency issues with FCP 7. I'm working on a project that's made up entirely of graphics drawn in Photoshop CS5. They Photoshop settings were done to match an HDTV 1080i (16:9) sequence in FCP. In FCP, the pixels were set to square, field dominance to none, frame rate to 29.97 and compressor is Apple ProRes 422.
    I exported my PSD files out of Photoshop, with each layer being exported to its own file. In general, things were fine, but there were a few files where you could see the outline of the character against the background, but mind you that this is only visible once the video is rendered out in the FCP timeline. Nothing is visible in Photoshop, nor is it visible while viewing from the Browser in FCP. I told this to the artist and he went back and made corrections, making sure everything was on a transparent background, but the result was still the same - once I rendered the graphics out in FCP, these edge lines were visible.
    I then went back into Photoshop, opened all the files that were giving me trouble, clicked on the "foreground color" and changed it to a color other than white, then back to white and hit ok. That seemed to work - even when rendered out, I was getting no artifacts, until I tried enlarging the graphics over 100%.
    Also, with some of the same graphics, I was trying to layer them so that a guy was in the foreground with other people and a van behind him in the background. Once again, no problem in Photoshop, but once brought into FCP, the background people were actually being displayed over the main foreground character.
    I'm pretty baffled - what to do? I'll attach a photo of the weird lines around the characters. It might be hard to see at this size, but if you download and enlarge it to 300% or so, you'll see what I mean.

    Just saw that Adam's original post was an older one.  Will keep this here anyway to maybe help the most recent poster.
    Sharon
    Adam, did you try what David said about pointing to the root folder?  Did that work?
    When I copy the SD card, I name a new folder on my hard drive something specific, like Smith Wedding.  Then I copy everything inside the SD card to that new folder.  The first level inside my new folder now has folders for
    AVF_INFO
    PRIVATE
    and on down from there.  When you open Log and Transfer, point it to the Smith Wedding folder (of course whatever you have named yours).
    ClipWrap2 also works great to convert the files beforehand if you want.
    What camera are you using?  I have the Sony NX30 and it was giving me fits because the .mts files don't ingest if the clips are longer than 11 min. My problem is that I'm still on FCP 6.0.6.  I think 7.0.3 fixed that.  But I did find enough work-arounds to keep the camera.

    How to get the bold texts in JTextPane?

    I believe you need to look at the Elements of the Document. Use the Document.getDefaultRootElement() method to get the first root Element. From there you can iterate through all the Elements. You should then be able to check the attributes of the element to see if it contains the Bold attribute using something like:
    AttributeSet attributes = element.getAttributes();
    if ( attributes.containsAttribute(StyleConstants.Bold, Boolean.TRUE)
    // do processing here
