Transparency Issue when exporting Image Sequence

Hi,
I'm creating short anims which have transparency and exporting them as png image sequences.  I'm finding two issues with the export though:
1)  The first frame is always solid black (when it should be totally transparent)
2)  The R,G,B channels of each image are multiplied by the transparancy.  So for example if I want a shape that's 50% transparent and coloured red the png should be 255,0,0,127 (R,G,B,A).  In fact what After Effects is creating is a shape that's 127,0,0,127 (R,G,B,A)
Does anyone know what this issue is and how to solve it?
thanks
Paul

You should not have any problem with PNG as you have no choice but to have the alpha to straight (it's on of the only codecs that doesn't support premultiplied). Do you have the same problem is you select tiff sequences (LZW compression if you don't have much free space).

• Hi there! So I am using Lightroom 3 on a pc and I have ran into an issue when exporting images. The DPI and image size (in inches) that I am selecting during the export process. For example I just exported a collection and set the dpi to 180 and the size

Hi there! So I am using Lightroom 3 on a pc and I have ran into an issue when exporting images. The DPI and image size (in inches) that I am selecting during the export process. For example I just exported a collection and set the dpi to 180 and the size to 7 inches on the long edge. My exported result is 457 dpi and sized at 3200x2134 pixels.. Any ideas on why this is happening and what I can do to correct it?

The DPI setting in a digital image has no meaning at all. You need to learn how to calculate what you need in your exported image. The only measurement in a digital image that has any meaning is the number of pixels in each direction. It doesn't matter what you set that DPI to (actually it's PPI or pixels per inch). The image will have the same number of pixels regardless of the setting. If you need an image that is 5 x 7" (for example) at 200 PPI then you would want an image that measured:
5 x 200 = 1000 pixels
7 x 200 = 1400 pixels
So you would need an image that is 1000 x 1400 pixels to have a 5 x 7" image at 200 PPI. The reason your exported image had such a high PPI setting is because you specified the number of inches you wanted the image to be. And there were enough pixels in the image that it calculated out to be that high PPI setting.
I apologize, I don't explain this very well. But you need to learn to do the math to determine how large you really want your exported images to be.

• GPU acceleration not working when exporting images on Lightroom CC

I was monitoring CPU & GPU while exporting a timelapse sequence:
As you can see, GPU is idle when exporting images - CPU does all the work. So GPU is used only when moving the sliders in the Develop module for a fast preview of an image you are working on, but for export it isn't used.
What's your opinion? I'd like to have exports accelerated too. I was hoping for it. Exporting timelapses is really time consuming.
Adobe pls?

I couldn't find the Cuda-Supported-Cards.txt file at first, didn't know about right-click .app file "show package contents", but then found it.  I also searched for the hack and some people said delete the file, others said add your Graphics cards to the file, others said add your graphics card to the the Opencl_supported_cards.txt file.  I added my card to the Cuda-Supported-Cards.txt first, and it didn't work.  I left the graphics card in that file, but also added it to the  Opencl_supported_cards.txt file and now it works.  Thanks so much.

• Transparency issue when generating PDF from InDesign Server

Hi there
Has anyone experienced any issues with transparency appearing solid white when generating a PDF from the InDesign server? There is no issue when exporting from the InDesign application, only when using the Server.
Any pointers / suggestions would be much appreciated
Thanks

• Alignement issue when exporting to PDF

Hello,
I'm having some alignment issues when exporting an InDesign file to PDF.
I have a couple of square pictures, touching eachother at the edges. These are aligned bang on in InDesign (the lines overlap), but when exporting to a PDF and viewing in there, it seems that some seem to jump up slightly.
Is this just a display issue or a setting issue when exporting to PDF?
Thanks
Benny

The detail is cropped too tight for me to tell how many photos are intersecting there. Is there a vertical intersection as well? If not, I think you're looking at a very slightly non-rectangular frame, if there is, then you might still be looking at a non-rectangular frame, or the frames are not perfectly aligned, which doesn't surprise me if you snapped to a guide -- I find that less than 100% reliable since CS6.
Presuming that you've zoomed in to show us the problem, that's probably a single pixel misalignment and you'd be very hard pressed to see it in printed output without a loupe.
You can check the bottom edge of the top photo, and the top edge of the bottom photo(s) for being out of horizontal by using the direct select tool to select the corner points and seeing if the y-coordinate is the same on both sides of the frame.
My printer tell me to always overlap frames, rather than butting them, for trapping, for what that's worth, but I don't always do what he says, and I've never had a problem.

Hi,
am I missing a viewing option? When exporting images within Aperture the sprocket is spinning indicating that the images selected are being exported.
However,

"Window→Show Activity" will provide some more information. You can bring up this window by clicking the spinning sprocket.

• Transparency issues when printing from Illustrator CS5

I recently designed a flyer for an event that a group of artists and I are doing as a not-for-profit organization that we started, to help clean up the area and promote the arts.
When I print the file (saved as an AI), the colors are bold, the font is crisp, and everthing overall looks fantastic, apart from this "box" around some of the elements I have created/added to the file.
When being printed from an exported jpeg format, the boxes are not present, but the image overall is of lesser quality (i know it's from being compressed to a jpeg), and the colors are not as bold.
I only have a black & white printer, a Brother MFC-7220. I only found out this issue when my curiousity got the best of me, and printed it to see what it'd look like on paper (8.5"x11") before we sent it off to the print shot. This is when I noticed the problem.
The elements which have this box around them were edited in Photoshop CS 6 (trial), where I had (at least thought), disposed of each elements background, so I could import them into AI as objects, without any background.
The files were edited in PS in new documents with a transparent background, saved as a PSD, then "opened" in Illustrator where I simply copied the object and pasted into the AI file I was working in. I've tried recreating/re-adding the elements from PS back into AI with the same issue.
The image also looks perfect on my screen, no boxes whatsoever. I've tried playing around with printer settings, transparency/raster settings, but the only thing I can get close, is the low-quality jpeg file. This problem also happens when exporting to a PDF, which is what I typically use for my printing format from AI.
Any ideas what's going on here? The pictures linked below show a photo of the AI and the jpeg, and a screencap of my desktop as the AI stands right now. The jpeg export has a few minor changes to it, but are still otherwise the same. The only items that are "supposed" to have this, are the logos for our sponsors in the bottom-left corner.
I'm stumped, nothing is working that I've read about, and I need to get these printed as soon as I can! Any help would be appreciated - please keep in mind I'm a novice when it comes to AI/PS, I know mostly basics.
PICTURES

I, too am having the same issue printing from AI CS5. I have edited images in PS CS5 and there is a transparent background. I then placed (File>Place) the PSD files into AI and everything looks good on screen. However, I'm also getting a strange box that appears around my images—though the box itself isn't a solid opaque—it looks more like there's a overprint or screen and so it just shifts the colors behind it. I've tried saving the images as transparent PNGs with the same result. I've also tried playing with my transparency settings in the print dialogue to no avail.
Strangely this is only occurring when I print at 100% size. I came upon this by happenstance when I accidentally printed a copy at 75% and everything was fine. If anyone has any insights, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

• Images imported from QT exported image sequence have jagged edges

Hi
I've come across something strange which I'd like to resolve.
I export an image sequence from QuickTime.
I then import this into Aperture.
But the images imported into Aperture now have jagged edges where there has been any movement in the original footage.
The images originally exported from QuickTime look absolutely fine when viewed with preview, they have the expected blurring on moving objects, but no jaggedness.
Now, a bit more detail.
The footage I'm exporting from was shot by me and came from a Final Cut Pro edit.
The codec in the QT movie is Apple Intermediate Codec and this is interlaced.
The jagged edges on movement look to me like the problem of interlaced not being converted to progressive.
However the exported images from QuickTime don't display this when viewed in Preview, it is only when viewed in Aperture that the jagged edges become apparent.
I have tried exporting from QuickTime to jpg, png and psd, but the problem is identical no matter which format I use.
I really want to now use Aperture to improve these exported images, but with this jagged edge problem I can't.

Hi JNorris--
Sounds like you need to apply the deinterlace filter (Effects tab: video filters: video: deinterlace) to the stills your exporting.
See if that makes a difference to start.

• Exporting Image Sequence creates duplicate frames 5 & 6

Before I go and report this as a bug, has anyone else seen it? I'm exporting clips from an HD-DVCPRO 23.98fps timeline (for VFX handoff). Select Track, Mark In & Out, File > Export > Quicktime Conversion > Image Sequence > TGA > 24fps, no space before numbers.
End result? All ten of the clips that I exported exhibited exactly the same problem - frame 6 is a duplicate of frame 5. All other frames are correct. The resulting clip is, I believe, 1 frame too long, i.e. you can cut out that frame 6 and end up with what you expected. I need to double check that frame 6 hasn't been actually lost.
I'm off to investigate if this happens with other file formats and conditions, but this is 100% repeatable for me anyway. FCS 5.1.2 on MacBook Pro.

I'm gonna get slapped for posting this (but guys, I really am rendering now...stills...a couple high res stills)...but I replicated the issue (on my lappy while the main machine was rendering). I did the steps you did and also got a 6th frame that was a duplicate of frame 5.
Interesting...

• Exporting image sequence... naming protocol

When I'm exporting an image sequence I need the numbering to be to the thousands ( eg; Picture 0001.png, Picture 0002.png)
Does anyone know how I can get this to happen?
Thanks!!

That is very interesting Ann.
I tried it again, this time with PNG instead of Targa, and the first frame exported out of each one looked like these:
So if yours always starts with 6 digits, I wonder what setting we have different?

• Problem exporting image sequence

Hello,
Somehow the rendering of my fileout node fales.
I want to export my composition as an image sequence (tiff). When I render the fileout node, the flipbook is working, but the exported images contain only the foreground image of my composition and the background image is missing.
What do I do wrong?
I just connected a foreground image sequence to a background image, using the over node. Then I attached the fileout to the over node.
Maybe it has something to do with the imagename of the fileout?
Thanks for any advice,

• Export image sequence from AS flash file

Hello:
I am new to flash I am using flash professional 8 and
publishing at version 6 (although I can publish to any version for
this issue). I am using ActionScript 2.0 and am animating objects
using code instead of tweens. I need to export the animation out as
separate frames. I need the image sequence from the flash to use in
other applications and other uses. If anyone has any idea on how to
do this I'd appreciate knowing. I'd prefer to not have to buy more
software of course but if that is the case and it is the best way
let me know.
Thanks in advance.

The latest Flash CC 2014 release has an export to SVG option, which exports the current frame as SVG. There is no direct way to export the entire animation as SVG sequence though.

• Exporting image sequence out of CS4

How can I export say, all of the FRAMES of my sequence out of Premiere? Is there a way to do this?

Export a series of still images
Movies are the type of output most useful for easy previewing. However, a sequence of still images from a composition can be used for movie making and desktop presentations. You can use a sequence of stills in the following ways:
Transfer frames to film using a film recorder.
Create still images for high-end video systems.
Create still images and use them in a presentation.
Select images for publishing or creating storyboards.
Export source images for a graphics program in which the images can be edited or retouched and imported back into Premiere Pro as footage items.
Export a series of still images
You can export a clip or sequence as a sequence of still images, with each frame saved as a separate still-image file. Export a sequence of stills for animation and three-dimensional applications that do not import video file formats. For example, you could export a series of still images from Adobe Premiere Pro, import them into Adobe Illustrator to use its LiveTrace feature, and then bring the altered sequence back into Adobe Premiere Pro for further editing. When you export a still‑image sequence, Adobe Media Encoder numbers the still-image files automatically.
Choose File > Export > Media.
In the Export Settings dialog box, from the Format menu, choose a still‑image sequence format (Windows Bitmap, GIF, Targa, or TIFF).If you choose a movie format or Animated GIF, all the frames are exported into one file.
Choose the range to export from the timeline under the viewing area.
Click Video, and specify options.
Click OK.Adobe Media Encoder opens with the job in the queue.
You can change the location into which you export all of the still‑image files from the default. Click the hot text in the Output File column and type a new location. It’s best to specify an empty folder so that the sequence of still-image files don’t become mixed with other files.
Click Start Queue.

• Audio sync issue when exporting to h.264

I've seen this issue reported many times, but can't find an answer, or whether it's simply another bug in Premiere CS5.  The same issue happens on more than one computer (PC with Intel i7, 64 bit, GeForce GTX 470, and BlackMagic video card), the video is HDV using Sony Compact flash.  Audio sync is fine throughout editing and exporting to standard DVD or h.264 blu-ray using Encore Dynamic link.  But when I export directly from premiere to create a flash video or h.264 720p video, the audio moves ahead of the video by about 4 frames.  This didn't happen with CS4. There is a similar issue if I export using MPEG2, though the audio error seems less consistent.  Have wasted very many hours, and a fix or solution would be welcome!  Many thanks.

Having the same issue here. Some kind of solution would make me so happy right now.
I've shot and edited a series of short interviews on a DSLR. So I've started with H.264 files and I'm attempting to export the final product to h.264 and the audio is very noticeably out of sync.
The only workaround I've come up with so far is as follows:
1. Export the audio only from the original sequence
2. Export the video only from the original sequence
3, Start a new sequence and drop in the files I just created.
When I export that sequence, for some reason, it syncs perfectly. Needless to say however, this is a huge inconvenience and time waster, especially when it comes to making further edits.
