Transparency problems with Dashboard Widgets

I installed Leopard on my MacBook and everything has been working well with the exception of some funkiness with my Dashboard widgets. There are a few widgets that the white text on them has changed from solid white test to transparent text with a white outline. I've got a screen shot here:
Has anyone else run into this problem? Is there a way to fix this problem? Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Someone pointed out something that fixed it. There was a font name conflict that was bringing up an incorrect style of Helvetica Neue.

It seems you are using the same name for all the ticker instances on page.
You need to have unique names for each of the ticker you want on a single page. Tickers with duplicate names will not work.

Problem with dashboard prompt initial value (OBIEE 11g)

Hi alli,
I have a problem with dashboard prompt and session variable in OBIEE 11g.
I have declared a session non-system variable which I set/change with dashboard prompt. At login the variable is initialized in initialization block that gets a value from an SQL select statement.
When I change the value in prompt, the session variable changes accordingly, as it should (change is made by calling function NQSSetSessionValue() within javascript function). While I am in my dashboard, cruising around pages the variable stays the same, and when I return to the page that has prompt on it, the correct value is shown. Everything works fine.
The problem occures when I go to Catalog (in presentation services) to create some new Answers. When I return back to the same page in dashboard (which has a prompt), the prompt selected value and session variable are set back to the default value. It looks like the initialization block is executed again.
My prompt is configured like this:
- Choice List Values: SQL Results
- Default selection: Variable Expression (@{biServer.variables['NQ_SESSION.VariableName']} )
- Set a variable: Presentation Variable
Is there a way to stop the initialization block from executing again? Isn't it logical that the initialization block executes only at login, when the session variable is empty? I don't need it to execute every time i come to the dashboard.

Problem with Dashboard Details Widget

Hi!
I'm using SCOM 2012R2 UR 4 running og SQL 2012R2 with 3 MS. I have problems with the Details widget on my Dashboards. The problem is that when I select an object, no data is showing up in the details widget - see picture.
I've deleted the "Health Service State" folder on all MS's and restarted them. I've also started the console witn /clearcache without luck.
In addition I've created an SQL maintenance plan running sp_updatestats every 30. minutes, but it
still fails...
What should I do?

1) try to restart the opeations console with /clearcache
2) try to import the following MP again an make sure that their version number is 7.1.10226.1046

Try this: Open Terminal and type at the prompt:
Killall Dock
that will quit Dashboard and relaunch the Dock. Then go to User/Library/Preferences and trash:
widget-com.apple.widget.translation.plist.
Then go to User/Library/Caches/DashboardClient folder and trash the subfolders inside it (they are numbered 01, 04, etc. This will clear the Dashboard cache).
Open Dashboard and verify if it works.

SCOM 2012 R2 Continued Problems with State Widget

Just want to see if anyone is seeing problems with the state widget in R2. Confirmed that if the criteria selection page is left blank, that the widget will render, if anything is selected it just loads and loads and loads finally with an error (follows,
first). Corresponding error in event log (follows, second). I thought this was resolved with UR4?

Problems with dashboard prompts - 11.1.1.6 on Win 2008 64 bit

Hi, I'm just curious if anyone who is using / testing 11.1.1.6 on a 64 bit Windows 2008 environment is having issues with dashboard prompts.
I'm seeing issues where dashboard prompts are showing up with a NULL option - i.e. if a dimension has values A, B, and C, I see the prompt showing up as:

A
B
C
There are NOT nulls in the data, and I can see that the related query is only returning 3 rows. It feels like something is broken with 11.1.1.6, but just curious if others are seeing this.
BTW, this happens with all types of prompts - check boxes, radio buttons, choice lists, etc. But strangely it doesn't seem to happen with the "sample" data - not sure if it's because it's from XML instead of database?

Nico - I owe you a ton, that's exactly the problem. So the workaround is for me to set everything to not allow NULLs in the physical layer - kind of a pain, but management.
Having said that - do you have any idea WHY this would happen? Just because a column CAN have a NULL, why would OBIEE automatically display a NULL in the prompt, even when one doesn't exist? After all, this column could also have "Nico" or "Scott" in it...and it isn't displaying those?????
Wonder if this has something to do with the new "buttonless" prompts. Or maybe I'm just missing something obvious...

I am having problems with my social widget and CNN video widget. I factory resetted my phone and my social widget was lost. I tried even the beta version of social but I am still in vain. The beta version showed me some error code and unable to install error on phone.I uninstalled the current version and installed the beta version but all was error. Fortunately I got my current version back from update.
I unknowingly deleted something related to CNN from the application settings and the CNN video widget renamed itself to CNN Video apac. I tried many ways even installed the latest E7 version of CNN video but still in vain. I updated my phone. tiried to uninstall the CNN video application but it shows the error delete cancelled. What should I do..?? I update my phone regularly atill I'm in vain. Please help me dear friends..I want my phone to be as new as when I brought from the market..

because you hard reset try again now and get the 1.2 and try install this
if will install succesfull then try the 1.3
(if install error is coming again reboot device take out battery, back on battery and switch on and try install again)

Please assist with "Dashboard" issues. Keeps closing.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ If you’re running Mac OS X 10.7 or later, open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the page that opens.
Step 1
Enter the name of the crashed process (DashboardClient or Dock) in the Filter text field. Post the messages from the time of the last crash, if any – the text, please, not a screenshot.
Step 2
Still in the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the process. The report name starts with the name of the crashed process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent one and post the contents – again, not a screenshot. For privacy’s sake, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)

Problem with Dashboard Stock Widget

Stock Widget fails to validate certain stock symbols (major ones like General Motors (GM), McDonalds (MCD), AT&T (T) just to name a few. I know these symbols to be correct. Certain others are fine…found by either typing company name or just entering symbol.
I tried trashing the stock widget plist (widget-com.apple.widget.stocks.plist) in users/myuser/library/preferences folder then restart. Still have problem.
Any ideas?

How can I fix lockup problems with dashboard?

I have two computers running snow leopard. Up until recently dashboard worked well on both. Now dashboard works great on one. The other runs some widgets, but most widgets now lock up.
I noticed that users running Lion had similar problems. I followed the suggestions to delete the "com.apple.dashboard.plist" and "com.apple.dashboard.client.plist", then rebooted. Tried this twice. No improvement.

In cases like this, the first guess is Align to Pixel Grid.
You may select everything and then untick Align to Pixel Grid in the Transform palette, and also untick Align New Objects to Pixel Grid in the flyout options.
You may avoid document types with that as default (RGB for web and the like) or change the default for such documents.

Problems with Dashboard (after partitioning the hard drive?)

I have a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. Yesterday I partitioned the drive to also run Windows, using Boot Camp. Everything worked fine after I completed Boot Camp.
Now my Dashboard is not working correctly. It opens and closes, and certain widgets work, but others are non-responsive. Some won't even let me close them. I opened the "Manage Widgets" widget, and that is blank and also will not close.
I also installed all new software updates yesterday, but those are the only changes that I have made.
Any ideas?

First, in general, you should only be using the hardware drivers from your model's Toshiba support page. As well, you should not allow Windows Update to change any of your Toshiba supplied hardware drivers.
After doing a clean install, the order that the drivers are installed in is critical for success. This is 1st chipset, 2nd display, then all other drivers. But, on a Toshiba, after installing all the hardware drivers, you are going to have to install some of the Toshiba utilities for it to work properly. Again, the order is critical, this would be 1st TVAP (Toshiba Value Added Package), 2nd Toshiba Flash Card Support Utility, then all other Toshiba Utilities.
However, like everything, there can be other factors and complications. For example, on your system you could have either an nVidia or Realtek sound card. In this case, you can try each driver and see which installs and works.
But, I would strongly recommend that you breakdown and order the set of Toshiba recovery media for your system, which you can do here. You will just need to input the serial number from the Toshiba label on the bottom of your unit. This will rebuild your Toshiba HDD recovery partition, reinstall Windows 7 with an imbedded product key, and install all the drivers, utilities and software your system came with, as listed in your specifications.

Transparency problems with JPanel

I wrote a color chooser application, where I can change the RGB values and
the alpha value by a JSlider. If a slider is changed the background
color of an additional JPanel is set. If alpha is lesser 1.0 (255), than
a slider is shown in the additional Panel (jPanelColor).
Following my source code, only with the red and alpha slider.

My problem is, the slider must not visible in the additional
panel (called jPanelColor). I do not add the slider into the jPanelColor.
This behavior exists only if the transparancy is lesser than 1.0

Any one having Flipping problems with their widgets?

I have 3 computers, so far two have been been infected with this symptom. When you click the info button on the widgets that have it, it doesn't flip. I had to do an archive and install on my PowerMacG5. Does anyone have the same problem?

Don't down grade, look just do an archive and install. Get your start up disks and restart your computer with disk one in it. when the screen goes black hold the option key. then the MacBook will start up with the disks. Follow the instructions. VERY IMPORTANT, WHEN YOU ARIVE AT THE PART AT WHERE YOU HAVE TO CHOOSE YOUR DISK, LOOK AT THE BOTTOM LEFT AND CLICK ADVANCED OR OPTIONS (WHAT EVER IT SAYS) CHECK ARCHIVE AND INSTAL. AND ALSO CHECK THAT PART ON THE BOTTOM, I DON'T REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS, BUT ITS THERE. Then do continue. Now, just hang in there it should take less than an hour. Be advised, some widgets may be lost. those that aren't need to be updated. All apps need to be updated, as well as the OS. You could imagine how long it will take depending on the speed of the internet. Uh, I recommend you do this at night so that you can have it ready in the morning. (like I said, it depends on the internet speed) so I don't know exactly how long this will take. It will fix all your bugs though. But before doing this try disk Utility. Its under Utilities.
You won't need to back up your system but it would be a good Idea to do so, Also if you can't archive and instal its okay to do the preselected one. BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOU REALLY CAN'T.

Menu transparency Problem with Safari

Hi,
I'm having an issue with Safari and would be greateful if anyone could help.
My menu items appear about 50% transparent and I don't know why. My only guess is that it is a Z-Index issue with the background image beneath it? All help welcome and appreciated.

HI and welcome...
Remove that particular desktop wallpaper. That's probably what's causing your to lose History and TopSites.
Open a Finder window. Now open the Library folder then the Safari folder. See if that wallpaper is hiding in the Safari folder. Mine does that also. If it's there, move it to the Trash but don't empty the Trash.
Quit Safari (Command + Q) Now relaunch Safari. If History and TopSites are ok, then empty the Trash. It's that image causing the problem.
