  • What is the best hp laserjet printer monochrome for transparent film ?

    Hello.
I want to know what is the best laserjet printer monochrome for transparent film ?
Can you recommend a printer ? I want to print negative or positive films at high opacity
    I wait your recommendation.
    Thank you

high price:HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 color MFP M575dn  This is the top of the line for consumer laser printing.  It's technically an enterprise (fancy word for commercial) printer, and there for has a commercial warranty attached to it, which is a very good thing.  This also has dual trays with automatic tray switching depending on the media type.  That means you can keep the transparencies in one tray, and plain paper for everyday printing in the other without having to switch between the two manually.  This printer also supports 1200 x 1200 dpi (dots per inch) which will give the transparencies a clear crisp look.
average price:HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP M475dn  This is about the middle of the road laser printer.  It's still technically an enterprise printer, so you get the enterprise level warranty, and you still get the dual trays with auto-switching.  The main differences are in the price, and in the quality of prints.  This printer is much cheaper, but the maximum dpi is 600 x 600 so the images that print are not quite as good as with the M575dn.
low price: HP LaserJet Pro 100 color MFP M175nw  This is not the bottom of the line by any means, but it's not as fast at printing as the two above.  You still get 600 x 600 dpi, but you loose the extra tray.  You also loose the enterprise level warranty, but you do still get a 1 year consumer level warranty.  It's not as flashy as the two above, but it will do the job.

  • Printing on transparency film

I use HP. Officejet J4680 w/ Windows XP. I'd appreciate knowing about how to use (print on) dedicated inkjet transparency film...Do's & don'ts. I've just tried it with mixed results. No directions on packaging.  Info from searches-wildly varied.  Best kind/brand? Can be copied on either/both sides?  Special ink?  Usually how long for ink to dry? Does the ink eventually become "permanent"?  Is there always a chance it can smear?  Is there a need to apply a clear spray over the printed surface?  If so, is there a dedicated product? Can other clear sprays (lacquer, urethane, e.g.) be used?  Special care needed for use/storage?  Will it change color (yellow)? What else do I need to know?  Sorry, H.P.  Tech help, no help. Thanks.

  • Transparent Film effect ?

    Hello Forum,
I need to create a transparent screen protector kind of effect in Photoshop. Pls check the attachment for the effect. I will be greatful if anybody can suggest any tutorials or photoshop filters which can achieve this or a similar kind of effect. I am using Photoshop CS3.
    Thnx in advance

easy to do using only layer styles: Fill Opacity 0-5%, 1px white stroke at about 50% opacity and a gradient overlay going from transparent to white to transparent a couple of times to create the highlights.

  • C7180 won't print transparency film

My C7180 won't print on transparency. It seems to ignore the sheet, or rather, it sees it but pulls it straight through and then prints on the paper from the tray. If I put a sheet of paper in first it pulls that sheet straight through, then the transparency, then takes the next sheet of paper and prints on that. I have changed the settings to Other Transparency so that isn't the problem. I desperately need to use this feature for my business.

The media sensor in the printer requires a transparency with a leading paper strip that is removed after printing.  This is needed so the printer can properly sense where the edge of the media is, without it the printer cannot determine the media is properly feeding.

  • Strange transparency problem trying to print a pdf made in Pages

    Hello,
Let me apologize in advance for this one, I think it's probably a doosy.
Not having the know-how to efficiently do a layout in InDesign, I have been doing print projects in Pages. It has worked fine in the past to print to Adobe PDF postscript from Pages, open up Distiller and convert to a CMYK pdf from there. For my current project it worked fine for the first 2 renditions, but for the 3rd edition (incidentally the one the printing company printed) looked very "muddy." Fonts were very rough and rasterized badly, and the whole thing looked kind of "brown-washed". They claimed to use a program called "Apogee" which they said told them there was a transparent layer over everything, converting all the fonts to CMYK and thus making them lose their nice crisp blackness. They've also said that it must be a setting in Pages that has caused this, but I can't see how that's possible! When I look at the source file in pages there is no such transparency. Several of the images do have their opacity decreased to varying degrees to help the whole piece blend, however this transparency they say Apogee pulled off the top cannot be seen from my end. We are down to the wire trying to get this job to print again, but I am stumped as to how to ensure that this rendition of the file will be done correctly.
As perhaps a side note, Distiller seems to be a pretty quirky application for me, often failing to convert on the first or second try, but somehow "magically" working on the second or third attempt for no apparent reason and without doing anything differently.
Thanks so much for any help - I am definitely cracking out the books and forcing myself to learn InDesign after this nightmare!
    - A-J L.

They claimed to use a program called "Apogee"
Agfa Apogee, introduced in 1998, was simply the first prepress workflow product that processed page-independent PDF instead of processing page-dependent PostScript into an internal and intermediate display list prior to marking. The prepress operator would be using Apogee to preflight the PDF you submit as printing master, and the problems found in the preflight are those of which you were informed.
As perhaps a side note, Distiller seems to be a pretty quirky application for me,
Adobe Acrobat Distiller has been difficult to configure since the day it was introduced.
Adobe Acrobat Distiller is a PostScript interpreter that converts page-dependent PostScript page description programs into page-independent PDF page descriptions without programming loops and links that produce dependencies. PDF uses a directory design for the objects in the page descriptions, a design that originates with Xerox Interpress (the idea of a directory is in fact printed on page 390 of "Interpress - The Source Book" by Harrington and Buckley published in 1988).
converting all the fonts to CMYK and thus making them lose their nice crisp blackness. They've also said that it must be a setting in Pages that has caused this, but I can't see how that's possible!
It is left to 'application intelligence' whether to match RGB black for type to CMYK black for type or to match RGB black for type to separationBlack for one plate/plane on a four plate/plane offset press. The problem with an offset press is that it lays down the inks at inking units that are some distance apart which invites misregistration. QuarkXPress, PageMaker, InDesign and other authoring applications developed for PostScript imaging on offset presses have ink palettes with four fixed inks of which Black produces separationBlack.
Pages does not have this possibility, so if you want your type to image as deviceK / separationBlack then you need to select your type and apply the following procedure, or set up styles with the following procedure applied. Open the Apple Colour Palette, select the CMYK slider mode, select some type, select the Advanced icon (the colour space icon on the left), in the drop-down menu select Device CMYK, and set the slider to C0, M0, Y0, K100. This procedure can be used by the typographer to control that deviceK / separationBlack is imaged, but for as long as Microsoft Word has produced type that is RGB, prepress processes have intercepted this in PostScript and reset it to deviceK / separationBlack including Helios colour management for OPI.
In prepress there is no way to please all parties. If you as developer say, "OK, I'll set the type to deviceK and then show this colour managed on the display" then you will have designers and people who write for designers like Sandee Cohen yelling at you for making type less black than they think type should be, even if in fact the colour of type printed on diffusing uncoated paper is way lighter than they think. And if you say, "OK, I'll set the type to R0 G0 B0 so it is as black as the designers think type should be" then you'll have the prepress crowd with their offset presses yelling at you. Neither party accept that black is a colour, one wants type to be as black as possible regardless and the other party wants type to mark on one and only one printing plate/plane regardless.
converting all the fonts to CMYK and thus making them lose their nice crisp blackness
I would wager a box of Carlsberg beer that the prepress operator is ignorant of the controls in Agfa Apogee, and that Agfa Apogee has a control to catch RGB type and convert to deviceK / separationBlack. Try telling the prepress operator to READ the manual -:).
Several of the images do have their opacity decreased to varying degrees to help the whole piece blend, however this transparency they say Apogee pulled off the top cannot be seen from my end.
Generally speaking, you should not be sending plain PDF to prepress. You should be sending PDF/X-3 which depends on you as designer flattening transparency, or better still PDF/X-4 which passes the problem of flattening transparency to the application intelligence of the prepress raster processing system. PDF 1.3 does not support transparency nor does EPS and nor does PostScript any language level.

  • Best Illustrator method to make a logo background "transparent..."

I have seen that there are several posts regarding "transparent backgrounds," but but they're difficult to follow. I apologize if this is old territory. If there is a solution somewhere already, I'd appreciate your pointing me towards it.
I'm using AI within CS5.5 but new to it. I am importing/converting a JPG file to vector format. The image is a logo with a large black circle boundry and a white opaque background. The background elements inside the boundry circle are also opaque white, and I wish to leave that as is. The edges of the circle touch the  boundries of the JPG file tangentially by about 100px or so on each side when the JPG is viewed at original size.
My objective is to make everything outside the boundry circle a "transparent" background. What would be the best/easiest way to do this within AI? Is there, for example, a tool that will draw a circle that I can expand to get on the edge of the black boundry circle, and then make everything outside it transparent?
    Thanks very much.

    Arnold

The cleanest/best way to vectorize  the black circle, and most likely the other shapes, is to recreate, using the appropriate tools, thereby replacing the original raster parts.
You may use the raster image as a locked template, maybe on its own lower layer.
In that case there will be no outlying parts to get rid of.
But f you just wish to get rid of the outlying part, you may create a circle (with the Ellipse Tool) following the outer rim of the black circle, select that and the image, and Object>Clipping mask>Make.
    OK, a quick progress report...
I am now back at my main desk and in front of my instance of AI. I am attempting to implement the above suggestion of using the clipping mask. First, a bit more background.
The object I'm trying to edit is a JPEG file with a logo design... a  black circle with a flat b/w design inside on an opaque white background. There is only one (1) layer, and AI reports the background as being "locked." When I open the JPEG file in AI, it appears as 100%, RGB raster (file is 2341x2344px original size). When I hover over the design with the "select" tool, I see a blue square outline (I assume this is the JPEG file boundry). The edges of the circle circumfrence touch each edge the blue square outline.
I see how to invoke the elipse tool,  and how to make a clipping mask (I have to remember to select more than one object, or I'll get an error).  But what do I do from there? How do I save just the part that remains (after clipping) on a transparent background? Everything I've tried so far seems to save it on the white opaque background.
I'm stuck at this point. All help appreciated.

    Arnold.

  • The menu bar goes transparent after 50-60 seconds and my mouse scroll wheel and keyboard wont work unless I click somewhere on the screen

I hope someone can help. I'm using Firefox 31.0.1
The menu bar at the top of the screen is a white transparent color and everything is working fine but after 50 or 60 seconds it changes to completely transparent, I can still read the words file, edit etc. This is where the scroll wheel on the mouse and anything I am typing stops working. Now all I have to do is click somewhere in the window and it works again but only for 50-60 seconds. I have had to click the screen twice since I started typing this because when I look at the screen, everything I have typed is not there because the menu bar went transparent again while I was typing. Its driving me nuts.
I don't remember this being a problem before today, if it was I would surely have noticed. Have I pressed something or clicked on something by accident??
I'm considering throwing the lot out the window, its really annoying, please help lads and ladies.

    Hello,
According to your user agent, you are on Firefox 32. If you planned to use Firefox 31 ESR, you can grab a copy here:
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/
Out of curiosity, when it turns transparent, is there a "(Not Responding)" appended to the end of the window title? If you don't have the Window title being shown, it might show up if you have window titles shown on your taskbar, or in the task manager (right click on your taskbar and select "Start Task Manager"). If you do see a Not Responding, it could be a slow script on one of the pages you are viewing.

  • Scoring to film

    Hey you guys,
Im scoring music to a film and everything is good. However stupid me cleaned up and erased the audio to the movie. Ive have the original audio from a source from the editor but it is on multichannels and sliced up everywhere. So I just bounced all to a stereo track and imported it into logic for reference. Fine, easy enough but now the audio is not aligned to the movie (smpte). It starts off ok then the audio slowly gets out of sync with the movie. My guess is because I have tempo changes throughout and beatmaping. Before I first started composing I had the movie/audio matched up and then "locked to SMPTE" But now thats not their because stupid me erased the bounced track from cleanning up and had to rebounce the audio and re import.
I guess my question is how do I get the audio synced up with the movie without having to start over.
I hope ive explained myself properly.
    Yanick

i think just cut the regions and align them as you go through out the film.

  • I can see my apps on Itunes but I cannot access them.

I can see my apps on the computer screen but they are transparent. The pointer device does not work on them and they are not listed in my library in Itunes. My library shows that I have no apps at all.
Each app works on the phone but I cannot delete any apps, nor load apps via the computer. In fact none of the links - music, video, photos in Itunes when viewing or sync my Iphone work. They are all there on the screen but it looks as though a transparent film is covering everything. This has never happened before and is a recent problem. I would like some help in resolving this issue.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Restrictions.
    Is Restrictions enabled?
If so, is Installing Apps and Deleting Apps enabled as a Restriction?
If yes, turn Installing Apps and Deleting Apps off as a Restriction.

  • 2  Spider diagrams, only one displayed in Crystal Reports Viewer 2008

    Hi,
I have two Spider diagrams in the report. One shows values for this and another for previous year. The second diagram is placed on top of the first. The diagram below has white background and the diagram above has transparent background.
Everything works as it should in the Crystal Reports Developer. But Crystal Reports Viewer shows the "transparent" diagram only, that is on the top.
Has anyone experienced such before? Any suggestion? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Yes, I can see them. In Crystal Reports Developer I see them in both ways. In the Viewer only side-by-side.

  • New window manager (with prototype!) [wmii-like] --- looking for help

I have a prototype for a new window manager in the style of wmii. It is called
cakewm. I currently have a prototype version implemented in pygame, and would
like help moving this to use X---making it a real window manager.
Disclaimer: I have a very limited knowledge of X11 and window manager
development. The most I've done is add a couple new features to wmfs.
    To get the code
    > git clone git://github.com/saikobee/cakewm.git
Then run main.py. cakewm depends on pygame.
Upon running, press Alt-Enter to fullscreen cakewm and intercept keybinds, or
Alt-Space to just intercept keybinds.  Press Alt-Esc to quit. The window
manager related keybinds are listed in the file binds.conf.
    Config note: <WSCA-x> means Windows-Shift-Control-Alt-x
Implementation note: pypixel.py is a large and mostly useless dependency. I
forked a library I made previously rather than coding straight in pygame.
cakewm's goals are to be similar to wmii, but with more functionality, easier
    configurability, and saner defaults.
    - cakewm is fully functional using the keyboard. Mouse support can come later.
    - cakewm provides 9 workspaces per monitor.
    - cakewm manages each workspace as a group of columns. Each column is like a
wmii default split, except each window can have other windows "stacked" on
      top of or behind it.
    - cakewm manages column sizes (and window sizes within columns) using a
master/slave paradigm, with the ability to adjust the size ratios.
    - cakewm's configuration file is simple key=val pairs, with the ability to
include other files like in C.
    - cakewm has a slightly larger emphasis on window decorations (adjustable
size---even in tiled mode) and themes (nothing bloated, like pixmaps or
      gradients---it's all still simple colors).
    - cakewm will have proper support for international text (Japanese text in
window titles or the wmii status bar generally render as boxes) through the
use of a more advanced text library such as Pango.
Please let me know if you have comments, questions, or concerns. If you are
interested in helping, get in touch with me. If you know somewhere better to
look for volunteers, please let me know.

It's a good idea to have compiz as the WM actually. Would it be lightweight to have it like that?
Is there anybody here that uses compiz as a WM?
For the xfce4-panel, is it possible to get transparency on it? That's probably the only thing holding me back with xfce4-panel.
If "able to run compiz" wasn't a requisite, what other WM would you suggest for my "profile" ?
I would like to hear other users opinions who like to customize everything on a WM.
I recommend running Compiz by itself. There is a good wiki page on it in the Arch wiki. Some apps you'll want to go with it are:
    LXAppearance --change GTK/icon theme
    Feh or Nitrogen --Set Wallpaper
Xfce4-panel --The lightest one that works with Compiz properly
Or, if you don't want a panel: stalonetray
    Compiz-deskmenu --For a customizable right-click main menu
Gmrun --Run dialog (Alt+F2 in most DEs)
And this helped me a lot.
Thank you all for the replies. I appreciate.
Xfce4-panel can have transparency.  The only problem is that everything become transparent: text, icons, everything.
I use Compiz as a standalone WM and it is much lighter than DE+Compiz. My Compiz setup uses about 30MB(out of 1GB) more RAM than my Openbox setup (which are both the same except for the WM).

  • HP Officejet pro 8610, wanting to print transparency

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8610 all in one printer, and want to attempt home screen printing some shirts for my 9 year old's hockey team. My friend lent me her YuDu home screen printing machine. I am needing to print the design on a transparency sheet. I have the transparency sheets here, but I am not seeing that option anywhere. I am very new to computers, and any help would be sincerely appreciated. Thank You

    Hi there,
Yes, I believe you can - BUT, you need to make sure your transparencies are INKJET transparencies.  I see from a search online that these are widely available....at Staples, Amazon, etc.
You should just be able to load the transparency in the tray (I would only load one at a time) and then when you go to print, you would selecting Printing Preferences (this can be different, depending on what software you are using) and then on the Paper/Quality tab, select Letter as the Paper Size (assuming they are standard letter-size transparencies) and then 'Transparency Film' as the Media Type.
I found this YouTube video that might be helpful - but please note that this is not created or sanctioned by HP.  Just a video I came across while looking for more information.
    Hope that helps!
    Thanks!
